3 True Scary Trucker Horror Stories

Jun 06, 2021
I have been a truck driver for several companies for ten years. Three years ago I was working for a warehouse company in Kansas doing shipping. He normally drove the semi-truck, which is what he was behind the wheel on February 2nd. It was a cold Monday, so the week was just starting and a lot of loads needed to be shipped, so I was trying to get everything done quickly. I started driving at 3 p.m. and he intended to reach the destination that same night. I didn't want to have to stop on the side of the road somewhere to sleep.

I did about 5 over the speed limit after 12:00, which is fast for a semi that was starting. I was feeling very tired but the destination was less than an hour away and I thought I could do it. My eyes were getting dry and it was starting to become a chore just to keep them wide open. I splashed some water on my hand and then rubbed it. On my face it helped a little and when I woke up my truck was the only vehicle on this road at this hour, so other than my headlights, the road was completely dark.

I remember reaching out to take a sip of water and almost spitting it out when I saw a figure approaching quickly in the distance, I hit the brakes hard and when the truck slowed almost to a stop I could better make out the features of this person almost standing in the middle of the road, he seemed to be wearing all black with some sort of black scarf wrapped around his neck and had an abnormally long neck. I know it's a strange thing to notice, but it was almost strange to see his face, yet it was completely blurry, you could make out any features when my truck slowed down. and I approached this mysterious man.

He was about to roll down the window to ask if he needed a ride, but he simply turned to his left and headed into the woods. I didn't take another second to stop and think about it. I just pressed the accelerator pedal again and kept going, no matter how strange it was, I was in a hurry, in fact it wasn't until about 20 seconds later that my heart really started to race from the shot and how strange it really was, maybe five minutes. I was able to get over it later, but something else happened when I got back to my cruising speed.

I saw something cross the street in front of me at first it looked like a large animal but as I got closer it crossed. In the forest I realized that I looked like a different person. This time I didn't even hit the brakes. I kept going and kept going down the road, maybe even hitting the gas a little harder just because I was starting to get scared. and I wanted to get there faster. A few more minutes passed without anything happening, however, I was getting more and more tired and sometimes even swerved into the other lane.
I had 40 minutes left on the road and I didn't know if I would make it. I was able to last longer. I started looking for good places to stop in Park for the night. Finally there was a small opening on the side of the road made of gravel. I guess it was meant to be just a little parking rest stop. I pulled the semi in, parked it, leaned back and rested my eyes. I fell asleep for not even an hour only to wake up out of nowhere in the dark. I still don't know what woke me up, but when I looked out through the windshield, something in my gut was telling me to turn on the headlights, so I pushed the knob and the lights illuminated the surrounding area in front of my truck.
There was something in front of the truck, though a man who is a man with a black scarf. I had seen him standing on the side of the road before now I could see his face much clearer, he had a very wide smile and his eyes were as open as possible and he looked directly at me through the windshield. I started the truck and got out. I made my way out of that small clearing as best I could. I didn't know what to think, how could he have walked ten miles from where I had last seen him?
I didn't stop again that night until I reached my destination from there. I fell asleep in the parking lot and woke up early the next morning. Now the only logical explanation I can think of is that my mind was playing tricks on me because I had been seeing strange things all night. I had never heard of such a big hallucination. However, it is vivid and terrifying, and that is the part that still confuses and scares me before getting an office job in the city. I was a UPS driver for two years, made a lot of money and enjoyed it for the most part, although it had its moments. 2010 I had been out of college for two years.
I was working from 11:00 to 7:00 on a Thursday, it was the middle of winter, so it was already dark around five. I wasn't exactly living in Palm Springs either. I was living in a small town in North Carolina. I don't want to call it a ghetto or a salami, but it wasn't a very nice area. He made deliveries in that same town very often. The housing situation in this town was strange. Blocks would have rows of houses and mobile homes spaced too far apart, while other blocks were completely desolate, resulting in fewer deliveries because the houses were so spaced and far apart that it took longer than, say, a normal suburban. or deliveries in urban communities were always marked on the map so I could take a more strategic route instead of just driving around after hours and hours of deliveries in a span of at least three different small towns, I started heading towards One of those streets I just mentioned are spaced by mobile homes and small houses on one side and woods on the other side, it's just after 6:00 p.m. and my shift is ending and there aren't many deliveries left.
There was a house on this block and the package had to be signed for, meaning I couldn't leave it on the porch. I pulled up in front of the house and went to the back of the truck and pulled out one of the biggest, heaviest boxes of the day, there were some sort of little pieces of metal banging around in the box, a lot of them, I couldn't even try. guess what could be inside my work. It was just carrying the thing up to the front door of the RV and that's what I did. There was no doorbell in this house, so I had to knock.
There were no lights on there, although I didn't see a car outside. I hoped someone was home. I knocked a few more times, then I saw the curtains on one of the windows move and footsteps approach the door, then there was a long pause, a suspicious and unnecessarily long pause before the door finally opened, a woman elderly. She stuck her head in when Lake and when I told her she had a package to sign, she opened the door and seemed uneasy when I asked her to sign the device, so it was a sloppy signing. She told me that I need to help her.
I took the box to his room, I thought that would be the case the moment I entered the RV, there was a big smell of some kind of stench, you know, every house has a different smell, whether it's good or bad, well, this house smells. horrible I don't know what it was she was leaving me in a back section behind the small living room space she took me to a narrow hallway where I struggled to carry the box and then she took me to a door she opened the door and said I put the box in in the closet at the back of the room.
I asked him to turn on the light. She said the light didn't work. It was almost dark. The only light source was the lamp in the living room. filtering down the hallway into this room I could see only the slightest amount to navigate the box inside the room when a guy near the closet I saw someone standing in the corner of the closet. I knew for sure it was a person because of the shape of the outline and there was movement there was no logical explanation for this this person was clearly hiding from me waiting I left the box where it was and walked past the woman and told her to have a good day, she started yelling at me to come back. and help her and she went so far as to call me a piece of I didn't know what this woman and whoever was in that closet were planning to do and I didn't want to stick around to find out I went on with my shift and went home that night and so I started my job search for a new and better job.
I've been a truck driver since I was 25 and have done a lot of overnight trips and of course had my fair share of strange experiences. I made deliveries. For several different types of businesses, I often had to drive across the state to ship to receiving businesses or stores. One day I had to literally drive from one side of California to the other to deliver a trailer full of wooden furniture. Much of the trip was through open desert roads, it was going to be many hours and I had already started the day late so I knew that most of my trip would be in the dark, given the nature of these desert roads at night , how straight.
They are and the little traffic there meant I could push the truck a little faster than on other roads. This meant that when I saw the flashing taillights of a car on the horizon I had to hit the brakes a little harder. to stop the truck when I finally pulled up behind the car, it was an old Chevy Impala parked on the side of the road in the desert land, it had its dangers. I got out of my truck because of course a good Samaritan had to be there and checked to see if they needed help.
I walked to the car and knocked on the window only to get no kind of response. I leaned over slightly to look into the car through the tinted window. There didn't seem to be anyone sitting. Inside I did the same with the other three seats and was able to confirm that there was no one in the car, so I looked out at the cool, dark desert across the road, although I couldn't see further than about 20 meters in front. For some reason, I felt especially useful tonight, so I went back to my truck and grabbed a flashlight from the toolbox under the passenger seat.
It was a heavy duty tactical flashlight that was so bright it would hurt your eyes. I looked straight at it as soon as I turned it on, it revealed what appeared to be an abandoned gas station on the side of the road, apparently I hadn't noticed it before. I guess the reason I didn't notice it before was because the entire filling or parking area was basically dirt, there was no concrete, also there were only two gas pumps behind them, it was a small building, probably an old convenience store. quick stop, at one point it would make more sense that whoever was there's car would do it.
While in that building, I went to the main door which was permanently open and the flashlight illuminated a decent part of the room. Inside was what I thought was a large convenience store that you would find at many gas stations or at least that's how it used to be. No wonder it didn't last on a road like this, even though I called to let everyone know I was there and that I was there to help, there was the slightest echo in the room that gave me chills for some reason. I heard something, probably a shoe scraping against the floor on the opposite side of the room, behind some shelves that were probably once filled with snacks and drinks.
I called once more offering my help if needed, then I heard a deep, heavy whisper. saying I understood what was said immediately but I didn't understand why whoever said it would say that I too heard heavy breathing in the corner of the room was enough to make me leave there in a hurry on my walk Back to my truck, this is what I heard and there had to be at least five seconds of confusion. I didn't know if what I was hearing was real or not, if that makes sense. I ran to my truck and called 9-1. 1 because to be honest I was too scared to go back to that building, they asked me for an exact location and I couldn't tell them, all I could say was that it was in an abandoned gas station on a highway in the desert, they asked me.
I wanted to stay in the line so I could better describe my location, but suddenly the car in front of me turned on and started speeding down the desert road. I didn't even notice he got into his car, it's so dark and he was so distracted by his phone. call I ran back into the building to see if anyone was still there while of course keeping 9-1-1 on the line. I went to the back section where I had heard the voice and breathing and was mortified to see a new call. Pool of blood on the floor.
I could only imagine what happened. I explained over the phone that I thought I had just stumbled upon a crime scene. They were finally able to send a group of state police to the scene and asked me for any information I could. I gave the license plate number what the suspect was like what I thought happened all I said was it was a black early 2000's Chevy Impala and I heard a man tell me to get out before I heard a woman scream as they left the building, there was no body left. behind, but I had some ideas of what might have happened.
I'm sure the state police took some blood samples and all that but I couldn't be much more help, embarrassingly I didn't have a dash cam at the time to get the license plate number but literally the next weekI installed the dash cam in my assigned truck. This was just one of those once in a lifetime experiences that will always haunt me.
