good morning everyone welcome back to unicorn dust designs and if you are new welcome my name is sammy on my channel we diy with signs there are always tons of laughs if you stay until the end of the

video

you will find out what I'm talking about that, I hope you enjoyed today's

video

and I wanted to say a big thank you to Skillshare for sponsoring today's video and with that being said, let's go ahead and get started with these house DIYs, so we'll start with this carving. gray stain four of these dollar tree boxes, you're going to stain the front, the back, the sides, the inside, everything after we're done doing all four, we're going to go ahead and start measuring our paint sticks, so I took some of the shorter paint sticks we'll measure them here and then basically, what am I saying, tape to measure them, you know what I'm saying, and then I'll take my little table saw here and Let's cut that out now, it's not the saw easier, but it's convenient, and we're going to cut them to size now.

I got this inspiration from Missy Jones on Like a Dollar Tree, a Facebook page. I asked for permission. If I could use her DIY and she said yes, I'll show you her version. After this, it's fine. Now that everything is stained, we're going to go ahead and connect our boxes, so I'm going to use my super dollar tree. stick hot glue for an immediate fix, let's put them both together, make sure you press well and make sure it's in straight, even lines, then we'll take the other two and repeat the same thing, super glue, hot glue, put them together, let them dry a bit, oh yeah, don't worry, I have more of those, so after connecting those two, now we're going to connect one with the other to stack them on top, sorry guys for everything. these angles I didn't really know how to etch this one now taking our paint sticks now missy actually used the opposite side and painted one two three four on it, which was really cute, but I actually really liked how the numbers are peeking out through the stain so I chose to do it this way and I'm just taking my detail gun and putting the hot glue on the edges and putting it there you have it so now we're going to move on to the top so Taking these frames galvanized we're removing the clips and putting them to the side because you know we save everything and oh my gosh when I saw your DIY I thought you were a genius so taking that same stain I'm just covering the frame so everything is attached to the remove the back of the frames, remove the stickers, okay so we take the excess painter's stick that we cut off, I'm going to stain them, so missy used some in the middle on the top of her boxes to make the roof of their house they didn't know what it was so this worked great so taking some hot glue I'm going to put those sticks in there and this will help connect our tin roof so I'm just lining the top with a little bit of glue hot.

I'm resting those 10 picture frames on top making sure they hang even on each side. Now taking wooden blocks, I'm going to cut them to size. I wanted to make sure our picture frames were glued together, but I didn't want to drown everything in hot glue, so I thought, you know, let's cut some of these wooden dowels to size. I'll go ahead and dye them. I'm only using dog nail clippers occasionally. Let's put a thread of hot glue on them. I'm going to change them, you can't see them yet, but we're going to put a bead of hot glue on them and then we're basically going to snap it between the frame and the box that way our frame is connected to the peg and the peg is connected to the box , if that makes sense, then I get all squirrel and start thinking about other things, so I cut another wooden dowel and stained that one because eventually we're going to put it on top, but then I was like, oh wait, girl, I don't even you finished the other side of the roof yet, so I take that other short wooden dowel and then we're going to put. a bead of hot glue on that, stick it in, there you have it, so now it's fully connected, it looks good, then taking this wooden dowel that we put on top, in my opinion, it will look a little more finished , it's fine once it dries.

I'm going to take, I think this is cashew, although I use plaster like everything else in these DIYs, but I'm just wearing them down. I was trying to copy Missy's and she just dressed her up so I thought I had to stress mine. too, so I probably should have done this before putting everything together. I ended up distressing the back of the boxes, the back of the inner boxes, but not like the sides and all since I was doing this as a vamp I guess you could say, but it ended up looking great and look how cute Missy jones you are a genius because this is just honey and also I just realized I don't have any knickknacks to put here but I will find some and I want to put them on my coffee bar it's so beautiful I'm going to show you missy's right now also because hers looks so much better than mine oh my gosh look this is missy jones for this diy let's take the dollar tree sign i love how simple this is just a rectangle let's take the larger paint stirrers, we'll hold it up in front of our sign and measure it and I'm just marking with a pencil.

I'm going to grab my table saw and let's cut it down. Now you guys will probably say, "attach it to her table so it doesn't move." I don't want to connect it to my table. Okay, just no. I don't want to, I'm just not right right now, taking the rest of that pin, we'll hold it up against our sign again, measure it again and then cut off the top piece and then keep it. Basically re-stacking instead of having to measure each one and mark it with a pencil, I just stack it on top like I do here, use that as a measuring guide and then remove the top piece, cut it nice so when I'm done cutting all of those I'm going to sand the bottom I'm going to make them all nice and smooth now let's oh I wanted to show you guys oh my gosh guys this ladybug vacuum is like everything it's like a chore even though it's a little ladybug small, but look at this, I even open it up just to show you how much it picks up, look at that in the link to my Amazon store, okay, now with all those paint sticks we're going to go in with that same thing. charcoal gray verithane stain, you can use any color stain you want and we are just going to tint all of our paint sticks.
I do the front and the sides, but I don't do the back because we won't see it, so don't do it. Don't waste your product now we're going to put it in so I always line my stuff up first because you never know so here I learned that okay it's not going to fit perfectly so I'm going to have to push it up a little bit. You're going to have a little overhang, don't worry. I'm going to start from the bottom, hot gluing it, leave the other pieces there so you know where to go and then I might start moving my paint sticks around and apply one. at the same time, make sure you press them down firmly and make sure they're close together so you don't mess up their placement here and then the little curves that I turn them from, you know, opposite sides, you see the little curves right now taking this.
Tin windmill, I had never used one of these before and I thought, oh I could bend it back and forth, then I started hearing creaking noises and I thought, oh no, we can't do that, so I picked up the little round one. piece, I was able to bend it back and it came off, but then I had to get my wire cutters, it finally came off, but then there was something on the back and I thought, "Oh great, that's awesome, I wanted to sit flush with it." ". sign okay, that doesn't happen, so I'm going to go ahead and hot glue this to the windmill, the little circle that ends up falling off afterwards, don't worry, I'll show you how to fix it and now let's go. take our drill because I'm adamant about this sitting flush with the sign and I don't like hot gluing it, so I take my drill, I'm going to drill a hole in our sign just trying to find a location here and then I'm going to put it up. up on something here, you're going to drill a hole there and the little thing that was on the back fits perfectly inside, we'll hot glue it later because it ends up falling off, I'm a lady, okay, let's take the plaster.
I'm going to ruin this board. I'm starting from the outside working with just the Dollar Tree stencil brush, then I'll take a little bit more and put it in the middle, then I'll take a decal that I do this with. my cricut and it says country life. I'm using an 813 aura mask vinyl stencil and I'm going to take the same stencil brush, just the dollar tree one, and I'm going to throw it in here. I wanted it to look more like faded paint. It's not as bold and clean, which is why I chose to skip pounds and pounds, because I didn't want every inch of the letters to be covered.
I make sure you know the really good parts of the lyrics so you know. what a letter it is, but it ends up coming out so clean. I love it and you can make it yours. It doesn't have to say country life, it could say home, it could say love, it could say fresh air or spring, anything. so let's go ahead and do this look at those clean lines oh oh girl yeah I love some clean lines okay now we're going to go ahead and cover the back but I take the hanger that was on top and I glue it with hot glue. there using the little plastic pieces, so I take the shipping paper and cover it.
Everyone knows I do this. I don't want to see the back of the other sign, so I turn it over and out comes the sign, but then the circle. it falls off and I'm like, oh girl, you're a mess, so I apply super glue, then hot glue, and then I'm going to put the hot glue in the hole of this, make sure you stick it there and look how cute. This is sometimes, you don't have to go overboard, you know, says the girl, that's extra, but I love the simplicity of this, I love that it totally looks like a wooden sign, no one would know that you put them together with paint sticks, okay so our next DIY, I'm taking three of these dollar tree signs, they easily the actual sign part comes off so easily, then we have to take out the sawtooth hangers, these come off easy too, but you guys have I have to be careful with these because they are covered in glue so I have to grab my sanding block.
I'm trying to even out all the glue so it's not so bumpy. Now we're going to go in after we're done with that and we're going to try to remove these words, which are almost impossible, even with the heat gun. I was able to save the grateful, but it's us. I ended up having to break them because it was so hard for me to lift them. Let's go in with elephant gray. This took me an hour to do. My mind was like at zero. I'm telling you there's probably an easier way to do this, but it literally took me an hour, so let's do it. two coats on each of those frames, make sure you get to the inside, then we'll paint the back of these with elephant gray as well and do the same with all three now. taking some vinyl cutouts, our templates that I made with my cricut, let me know if you want me to put them in my etsy store.
With these I am using Aura Mask 813 stencil vinyl and I am using it to make one say life is better. on the farm one is going to say farm sweet farm now everyone make sure this is just inspiration if you're not a

farmhouse

, right? They don't have to make a farm. These are here as the bones of this. The signs. and all of that is the inspiration and you can do any design you want on this, you can make it fit your

decor

and I think that's the most important thing for everyone to remember: yes, I do

farmhouse

because that's my style of home, but that doesn't mean that these can't be transferred to other styles, so after we finish placing this here, we're going to go ahead and start stenciling again with the plaster, so I'm going to swoop in again because I don't want this to be super daring or anything.
I'm just dab dab dab dab devin devin you know I love that movie like real people I love it okay so we'll do the same thing with this one and then the farm sweep so let's go for this one now. I'm painting over the vinyl letters that way. When we go ahead and weed and remove the letters, we'll see the gray letters here so this will dry super. Quick, I'm going to go ahead and weed this. I know some of you love watching the weeding process, but I'm sorry, I fast forward this here, okay, so let's go ahead and weed this, this came out like this.
Well, my inspiration was actually um, it was like a Wayfair ad and it had this thing, it was a much bigger skill of course, so that's where I got the inspiration from, so let's go ahead and weed it and then, sorry, I jumped forward. to the next one where we actually read the letters and you can see how clean it looks, it just stands out a lot and we're going to finish weeding this. You are more than welcome to spray clear it and put mod podge on it. On top of transparent wax, that depends on you, I didn't put anything on it.on top of that I'm sorry, now I take that plaster I'm just wearing down the edges I thought it looked too clean you know, I don't know, but it's okay because you barely see it once it's in the frame now we're going to cover the back, y'all know that I have to do this.
I don't even know why I put it in my videos anymore because they probably already have. I know what's going to happen, but I'm just hot gluing the back, pressing them into our shipping paper and then we'll just grab our Arteza craft knife and then we'll clean this up like this, now our backs are nice and clean, no one will. See all the junk in the back, so let's go ahead and put them in our frames, easy and simple, dollar tree, squeeze, leave them, you know how to do it, so I won't show you that I did it on all three .
Okay, so I decided to glue all three of them together. Obviously they don't have to. I used super glue and hot glue. Do you see how cute it is? It's so adorable and looks so clean that no one would know what they were. dollar tree frames like come on okay so I take the cast again let's distress around the frame go down the middle and oh god this came together so well imagine this on a larger scale yes ma'am okay so let's go ahead and turn it around we're going to grab one of the sawtooth hangers that we used before and while I was doing this I accidentally broke the frame and I tell my husband okay nothing that the hot glue can't fix it and he says, oh my god.
God, no you're not, I say yes I am, but look how nice this turned out and I spent three dollars, you know, of course, I like my vinyl and stuff like that. Hey again, sorry to interrupt you, well, you're deep into these DIYs, but I hope you enjoy this

mega

video. I've come a long way since the beginning of my YouTube channel, so I knew I wanted to get my latest compilation of all my farmhouse DIYs and put them together for you because if you're like me. I upload makeup videos while doing crafts while cleaning the house while cooking.
I love the background. I love to look. I love being able to see all my favorite DIYs from a YouTuber. in one place so I hope you really enjoy this video, if you do make sure to subscribe and comment below. I always love reading your comments and with that being said, we'll come back to today's video on your channel for that. right guys, greetings to the bitter belts, okay for our last DIY. I'm grabbing this galvanized sign from Dollar Tree. I bought it during the summer and you can put a damp cloth over this. It's just paper and will probably come off very easily. for you I just wanted to take the hard way okay don't mind me so taking this cow I bought it at Walmart I think it's worth a dollar 97 or something like that and I'm just smearing it with that. charcoal gray just to tie it up, you know I have to tie everything together and then I'm going to grab the burlap garland, that's what it's called on the label.
I bought this from Dollar Tree during the summer we are going to cut off. I'm going to take this out and then I'm going to take out three strands from the sides and then the top and bottom here, okay, look, that gives it a nice worn rustic look. To put this together, we're going to get hot glue and super glue now. first put the super glue and then apply the hot glue here because if everyone knows metal and hot glue don't like each other they are not friends but we try to make them friends by mixing them with super glue so you can I'll see next I get the super glue , I make a strand, I make a little bit of hot glue and then I'm just rubbing it, going over it so it doesn't all come off, then taking our hood, we get the hot glue, super glue, we put that little bit together.
Baby, now I'm using some dollar tree wooden letters, these are all very hard to find when you find them, collect a bunch of them because there's only one letter in each pack, okay, so taking that charcoal gray, I'm staining those letters with ease. and then taking the same thing that we've been using we're going to take that super glue and the hot glue you guys can grow this, you could make love, you could do it, I hope, I mean, whatever you want, cows, I don't. I know, but we're just grabbing the super glue and hot glue to put it together and I was actually pretty impressed with the way it ends up so I hope you like it after that we'll grab some of our extras.
I tell you to keep everything you remove, so I found one of my pieces of thread that had the plastic attached to it and it worked great. Then, taking some box wood, I cut some to make it a little thinner. I'm going to grab some hot glue, which I wish I'd remembered to put a little bit of super glue in there just to be safe. Okay, so we'll do that on each side and then in that space, sorry, I'm not in the frame. this, but I just take the dollar tree thread, I'm going to wrap it around three fingers and make it pretty thick and then I take a piece of thread, I tie it in the middle and then we'll just cut those loops. half of it is like, you know, like a messy bow here, attach that with just put hot glue, make sure you put super glue too because it might fall off, who knows.
Now taking some buttons, I found the most perfect button, it's like a brown one. distress and it has as text I'll do a close up after this but it's perfect so I hot glued it on and we ended up with this this is how it turned out sorry for the lighting it's super bright but it's super basic and cute and I love how it turned out. It would make a great gift for someone who lives on a farm or for a housewarming. I don't know, let me know which one was your favorite below, as always. Oh I love it. all these, what are you doing friend?
Are you trying to be a creeper and watch the neighbors? Okay, bye, okay. So for this one we're going to grab four of these dollar tree wood grain frames. I'm going to disarm them completely. You're going to remove the back of the glass to get all that stuff out. They actually have a wood grain texture, which is absolutely amazing. Now I'm taking a sponge and applying white chalk paint. In fact, I saw it. It's a channel called Four Quarter Crafts. I will link your channel in the description box. She's amazing and she did this technique with a textured ball and I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's cool, why have I never thought of doing that?" instead of distressing it, you know, with a brush, this just brings out all those beautiful grain textures without all the brush strokes, you know what I'm saying, look at this, so I did this with my four photo frames here, these are just the four by six frames, not five by seven, I'll say, and I made sure to put all the sides on them too, now that we have them all painted, I'm going to remove the little rivets I say.
I don't know what they're called prongs and these, if you just pull them out, they come out really easy and I just did this with my pliers here, after we're done, we're going to connect them now, make sure you play with them because some of them were like a little bit arched in some sections. Here I'm using Dollar Tree super glue and you'll see I alternated so I put super glue like and then in between the super glue I put the hot glue for those of you who are new to crafting, we make super glue for longevity and hot glue for immediate fixing now that we put those two together, we will connect them all together.
I know you guys probably have. I've seen the window panel a million times, but it was really just the process of bringing out the wood grain here, so after it's all dry, we'll take it to you guys. See these little corner pieces? I took them off the table. I don't know how long ago, more than six years ago and I don't know why they came to mind and how the hell I found them in my basement, but I did and the detail they add is everything, so here I go. to take it like it's a white box, I actually found this at a garage sale last summer for 25 cents and I'm going to put it on the bottom and that's it, look how beautiful this is if you can't.
Hear the smile, I'm smiling. I just think this was so easy and I love that it stands up so you don't have to hang it. You could put this in the kitchen bathroom, on a shelf, like possibilities here, y'all, I love it. Alright guys, Skillshare, what is Skillshare? Skillshare is an online learning community with over thousands of classes, like marketing, they have stuff for music, fine arts, web development, crafts, and for me, right now I'm taking an Interior Design Basics class taught by Lauren Cox because you all know I just moved into my new home and I could definitely learn a thing or two about setting up so I love this because you can do it at your own pace.
The class I am currently taking is approximately one hour and 45 minutes long. I like to be able to break it down into, you know, watch it in my morning coffee or on my lunch break or whatever, and you know, with an annual membership of just ten dollars a month, it's worth educating yourself and learning something new. , especially when we're all home a little more often right now, it's definitely worth it, so the first thousand people to click the link in my description box will get a free trial of Skillshare premium membership , so be sure to enter my description box and click the link below DIY is also easy to squeeze so I'm going to take two of the 8x10 framed canvases here and we're going to take them apart so I'm just going to get my craft knife of art, I love it.
These craft knives are super sharp. I'll leave you a link in the description box and what I'm doing here is just cutting all the staples so we can remove most of our canvas, there you have it. a wooden frame I saved the canvas because we could always use it later I always save everything I remove and we're going to do the same for this frame now don't worry about the staples, those can stay right where they are You won't see them at all after we've finished removing all the canvases. I'm going to grab a sanding block because these things are rough and we're going to sand them down as much as we can.
Now I'm taking Apple. Black acrylic paint on tap, a little bit of water and I just created a stain with it and let me tell you it turns out so beautiful I love using the water sink because it dries faster than an oil based stain that I use on my signs wooden and stuff. and yeah, okay, now we're taking a dollar tree sign, I'm tracing it with our wooden frame and now I'm taking my craft knife again and I'm going to mark this over and over and over again, I'm not going to put you through for the torture because I was here for a good minute, okay, but basically I'm going to cut this on the top and the side and this is going to be the back of our sign, now I have this frame. idea by chrissy creates diy so be sure to check it out.
I don't know why I never thought of framing things like this before because it looks so sophisticated. I'm taking my chalk paint to give it a messy look. Y'all know this is my vibe now taking the back we want to cover it so I do the usual thing I take the hot glue put it on that boat and the paper we're going to clean it up with our craft knife and now instead of that ugly broken spring back, let's go to have a nice clean back, okay, here's our frame. I have my wood glue and my hot glue and I'm going to put on the back of the sign that we just cut out and painted.
Now the frames are not going to match. exactly because they are a different size here I am just measuring our decal, I will have it available in my etsy store. I made it on my cricut with permanent matte vinyl, so before I put the second frame on, I'm going to put my vinyl on there and pay attention to the wood grain because look at that on the left, oh my gosh, that wood grain is beautiful so I made sure that that was the one that was going to go on top here so it looks beautiful like this and this could be a beautiful frame sign um now I'm distressing my vinyl with my um standing block I think it was the Liz Moore decal and

decor

ation where I got that from, but I'm not 100% positive now.
I'm taking wood glue again, a little bit of hot glue and now I'm just going to add a frame in there and this will give it a little bit more volume and depth. You could have used one and been good. with it but I love the way it looks it looks

high

end it looks like you would have bought it in a store look at that beautiful wood grain I love this it was easy and I feel like every DIYer in the video from today. It's going to be very easy, okay, for this one we are taking two of these signs, you can find them very often at Dollar Tree, some of them appear very easily like that one, this one, on the other hand, required some work, so yeah you have This happens just run your craft knife along the back loosen the glue and then it comes off a lot easier now there's tons of glue on the frame right here so take your craft knife and scrape it off and the reason I'm Let's scrape this off, let's use one towards the parttop of our lantern and then the second one that we want to clean because we're going to put the backing back on and we want it to be perfectly flush. our frame so we don't have a twisted and twisted donkey lantern here, so now on the backrest I ripped off the top and then I cover my bag.
I know I was going to be sitting on the floor, but there it is, I just can. Don't leave it like I have to do it. Someone is going to pick up that thing. Don't know. Now I'm taking acrylic paint. Yes, guys. More acrylic paint. I do not know what happened to me. I'm not using chalk paint. It's the strangest thing, but we're going to paint the front, the back, the inside of all the frames. You will paint them both black. Once you're done, we'll put the backrest back on, so I just lay back. Some hot glue on the frame.
This is my gun detailed so it doesn't get messy. Now I thought, "Oh, it looks brown." Well, no, I had to paint it, so I paint the inside of this completely black. Now we are going to take 16 of the smaller paint stirring rods. Here I'm taking acrylic paint and water again for our stain and I'm going to place. Take all of these out, just take them all out so you have them ready. Now I'm going to take my brush and I'm going to hit them all with this water stain and I'm going to make sure that their sides make sure you take the top and the bottom, you want to get all of these now, after you're done with all of this, these For one thing, you'll then turn them over, it's perfectly fine if they're still wet, it won't ruin them. at all and I get my heat gun to speed up the drying process.
This is water, so they dry very quickly. Now we're getting our frames and we're going to start with a bar so we don't have the wobbles continue so I'm going to apply a little bit of hot glue to the ends, there we go, make sure they're nice and flush with the background, esp. look how beautiful the wood grain looks. Okay, now I'm going to stack the rests and play with the placement, grab a pencil. I'm going to go ahead and mark where those stir sticks are so I know where to put them after I put hot glue on them, so as you can see I put the hot glue on the top and bottom I use my bottom finger to help make sure it's flush with the bottom because like I said, you don't want it to twist when you sit it on a surface, so let's turn it over. and then I get smarter as I do it, you know, so I'm going to hit, see what it's like?
Why doesn't it fit, but you just have to separate them as you go? I'm gluing them on and then they're okay there it's all good so like I said I'm getting smarter so I do the sides first and then I go in with the middles and then I mark them with our pencil like we did before oh look. Also, I know you guys know that I love wood and all that stuff, so I like to see the grain and how beautiful this water stain turned out. Everything is fine, so on this side I place the paint sticks on top of each other.
Did you see that? That's what I want to show you, see, I'm layering it on top instead of in line with the frame. I hope that makes sense, so guys, let's put the rest in there, come on, we've got the rest. Now I'm taking the thickest nautical rope from Dollar Tree and I'm just measuring it here to see how long I want it at the top, after that I'm going to take two strands of the nautical rope here and then. I'm going to take some of this other Jewish cord or I don't know what it is, but it's in my Amazon store link in my description box and I'm going to wrap this thinner one three times and cross it out on the back cut. the rest uh what's left here and then I keep coming back to just reference how long I want it and where it's going to sit look let's go to how

high

do we want it okay so now I'm taking my detailed glue gun and I'm going to glue them together and I wanted to make that one for a thicker handle and two that I didn't want once attached so that the nautical rope would extend, you know what I'm saying, so I thought connecting them would be very nice I would add, you know, I like the depth because it's thicker, so let's finish this, let's do the same thing on the opposite side, let's make it thinner. jute cord and we're going to wrap it three times, so first I put hot glue on it and then we're going to wrap it three times here, one, two, three, yeah, yeah, okay, now after we're done, we cut off the excess of that .
I'm going to fold this in half so we can make sure everything lines up, let's see that it's okay, we want them to match and then I'll go ahead and untangle the ends here, I just thought it was pretty, I don't. I know, now we just have to glue it on, just hot glue, there we go, there's kind of a gap right there, so I took my glue gun and filled it in there and then put the opposite side and that's it. That was it and look how awesome it looks and how simple it was. It's less than five dollars and I also bought the giant paint sticks and I want to make a medium one and a large one and then this will be it. be the small one and stagger them on my porch.
I hope you like these simple DIYs today. I'm really excited about all of them, okay, so a blanket ladder, oh yeah, sorry guys, for all this video in the future, okay, so I'll take six. Dollar tree plungers, I'm taking three spindles that I got off the Facebook marketplace, I bought a bunch of them for five bucks and here we go, so let's take all of these, there's Tinkerbell and we're going to start taking all the tops. I remove the stickers with my heat gun and have to take my sanding block and sand all the adhesive off because those things were sticky.
Now we're going to go out to the garage and I'm going to cut them. Remove the ends of our plungers and the tops, except for one set, so two of them don't cut the top because that's going to be the top of your blanket ladder in quotes because I don't put blankets on it, okay? So now I'm just connecting the plungers, I just don't know, it sticks with wood glue and hot glue, so I just put it like this, I use the wood glue, I put it around the edges and then I put the hot glue on the medium so you can Like I see it I'm so sorry for this crappy stuff it's not great but I hope you get the idea okay Hank drools then I realized you know what you got that star bomb , this is actually like a crack filler and What it is is like a super glue and it has this accelerator so when you apply it it literally dries instantly so I thought it would be great for added security because there is a little gap there, so we do it and I do it for Both sides, obviously, then they take a true black stain with minimal wax.
This is absolutely beautiful and you can see it's black like it's beautiful so I'm going to dye this side and obviously the other side and I chose to go with black because hashtag avi the shafts are black okay so let's move on and finish that off and then this is where it gets sketchy so I put the axles in place mark where they are and then I'm going to pre drill holes in the um. What are emboli called? And then I'll do it too, so mine was like 8 inches, 22 inches and 37 inches, that's where I decided to put my axles here and I'm just taking them down the row. -drill the three holes that we are going to need and this will help the screw go in much more smoothly because even with them pre-drilled I was having a hard time, so as you can see, I have my screw.
There and then I'm also pre-drilling a hole in my shaft. Sorry, I'm not in the frame for much of this. Okay, so I'm going to drill out my screw a little bit more enough so I can continue. go ahead and set my axle and screw it in and then I can finish it off nice, there we go and then we go down to third, I don't know why I did that. I did the same, put the screw in and then screwed in my axle. then I go ahead and finish it by tightening it now you can find spindles on Facebook Marketplace Habitat by Humanity you can even buy an old chair and cut the spindles off so there are a lot of options so this is the opposite side of where the first spindle was. easy, but as you go down it's obviously going to squeeze you, so by the second spindle I thought, "Oh shit, I can't see the hole in the spindle to line it up, so I started going rogue with this whole thing." It was a rogue, guys, I looked at everything.
I had no idea what the hell I was doing here. I just hope they get inspired and say, "she's okay, I understand what she was doing." That's where this DIY went. some chalk paint, um, this is Rust-oleum white linen, I'm going to go ahead and grab my two inch brush to remove this, there's no rhyme or reason to what I'm doing, I'm just making sure I have everything covered so there's not like any completely black piece left here and yeah, I'm sorry, I don't think I'll ever film on the ground again because I just don't know you guys, I'm sorry, okay, so let's go ahead and finish this. , I didn't know I was going to take you through the whole process of painting this, but you're welcome, I hope it's very relaxing for you, okay, so once this dries, I go ahead and hit the back and after that.
We're going to grab some dollar tree twine and we need to cover where we attach our plungers so I made these three inches long and obviously we're going to put four of them for the four places where we attach the plungers and that's it guys . like it was really, I mean, in theory, this was super easy, I made it really hard for myself and I think you know this was like the end of the day where you're like oh girlfriend, you gotta go to bed, you gotta go away to bed or do you need a margarita one or the other I don't know so I'm going to finish doing this everywhere else and this is how the black blanket I don't know uh that's how my ladder turned I think it's beautiful.
I can't wait to find a place for it in my house. You can put books here. Blankets here. Towels here if you want them in the kitchen. Thank you for being here with me today as you are. You're not even looking at the neighbor's jar, you're just being a clean bear stage five creeper and look, aren't you? Yes that's fine. Our first DIY is inspired by favi's creations. I saw this DIY dollar tree toolbox and knew I had to at least try to recreate it, so let's start with these Dollar Tree signs and I already sanded them.
I'm going to paint them all front and back with chalk paint. I did three layers on the print. side and one sorry and two coats on the brown sides, so you'll have four signs in total, two of each here and then of course I'm going to take my mini checkered chip brush, I'm going to dip it in some old wax and I'm going to wear this down a little bit. You can leave it completely white. You can paint it any color you want. This is just for inspiration, so I'm going to do all four like this.
I do the front and I do the back so once we're done with that we need to build our base so I took the larger paint stir sticks and placed them against the side of what will be our toolbox and I was. go ahead and mark it up, then I'm going to grab my table, I have this linked in my Amazon store link in the description box and I'm just going to cut all of these, um, yeah, I'm going to cut all of these. of these sticks are the same length and then I took a sanding block to the ends now taking a baby wipe and some old wax I'm going to go ahead and stain the ones you could do the front, the back you could just do . the front doesn't matter, but I knew I needed to dye them, so I'm going to go ahead and finish dyeing them, let those babies dry and now we're going to attach them, so I'm using some gel super glue. and hot glue now I'm using rulers to make sure they're all completely straight now when I measure them they fit perfectly on the sign but you know when you use super hot glue not super glue add a little bit in between whatever.
What you're doing, do you understand what I'm saying? So I actually expanded my base a little bit and at first I was very frustrated, but I fixed it and I'll show you how, so let's finish attaching. all of our paint sticks here, now taking the side first, make sure your image is inside your box. I'm going to glue it with hot glue. I put a healthy strand of hot glue in there. I held it. It actually stood up very, very well on its own. then I attached the second side box here, done, very easy, and then we're going to attach the ends the same way, just attack by putting hot glue on the ends and then as you can see, I used some jenga blocks, and that was just to add. extra safety fastening, I also put them on the end, now Fabi also uses a dollar tree sign for the base so be sure to watch his video, of course the wooden dowel I chose to use was too big so I had to do it. drill holes, so keep that in mind depending on what size dowel you are using.
Now these are the giant popsicle sticks from Walmart. I'm going to cut them to size and then make this for eight. You will need eight. of these, so all I did was measure them againstour side and this is what's going to help hide that gap in our corners so I stained them all and then I said, Hey, we're going to stain the dowel while you're at So I put the dowel in the holes and I'm going to go ahead and just mark where I want it to be cut. I'm going to use my table saw again to cut that out and then I'm just going to do Exactly the same thing, baby wipe, old wax and then I said, you know what I want?
Some little caps basically for my cue, so I bought my cut wood beads, two of them I dyed and then that will add just a little bit. a little more detail to our uh I don't even know if this would be considered a toolbox anyway so now I'm just grabbing some wooden dowels and we're going to put them in the corners that's just for added security in the corners . to give it a little more support and I do it in all four corners here, so now, taking your popsicle sticks, you're going to put one to the side and what you're going to do is put it a little bit higher than where Um, the space is and you will see here how we cover the space.
We're going to get that other popsicle stick, our craft stick, whatever it's called, and we'll put it together with the one right there. and then you won't see any space on the sides so I'll repeat that step for the four look how clean that looks for the other three and let's move on I'm going to jump right now there we go ready now I'm going to put the peg in there I'm going to warm up stick those beads cut at the ends and y'all, I decided to keep these super simple fabi creations. She put a really cute farmhouse stencil on them and it looked adorable but she wanted to be able to transition it anywhere in the house so she didn't want to put anything on it and look how big it is on the high end.
She ended up being about 20 inches long. You can totally carry it by the handle and it looks so tall she couldn't have done this. No creations from Fabi's inspiration, so definitely check out the link to her in the description box. I'll leave her well. My next inspiration comes from Christy creates DIY and this was actually what started it, like my entire video was this piece. I thought it was absolutely. genius and I needed to recreate it so I'm going to show you my version of hers so we're going to take three 8 by 10 canvases these are from Dollar Tree and all I'm doing is taking my craft knife to cut around the staple and then tear off the canvases, so I have to tell you if you're having a hard time finding them at Dollar Tree, go to the hobby lobby, they have a pack of 10 for 12.99, so they're only $20 each and much better quality.
Alright, now let's grab our giant craft sticks again. I'm going to line them up, then I'm going to remove the pencil mark where I need to cut and then I'm going to take my scissors and I'm going to cut out all of these giant craft sticks. I like to clench my teeth when I cut them. I think, oh, this is so hard my hands hurt, but you know I do it anyway because you know I'm a craft addict, so why not? I'll do anything for a good craft, so I'm taking antique wax and a paintbrush, isn't that weird?
Why didn't I sometimes use the baby wipe on this one? Oh, that's why, because this is burnt umber acrylic paint, yeah, that's it. So girlfriend, okay, so I covered them and then for our frames, these were very rough, which was totally fine with me, so I painted the inside and the outside, I just painted the whole frame because all of these are so uneven that they have spaces and you could see everything, it was just strange, but when you think about a chicken nest or what I'm trying to think about, you know what I'm saying, it's worn out, it's outside, it doesn't look new, so really I liked. that the wood was very worn and rough on these, so I was totally fine, okay, now taking our giant craft sticks, let's start hot gluing them on the back, I just put a little bit of hot glue on the back top and bottom oh I think I was thinking of chicken coop I think that's what I was thinking of duh hashtag yeah I mean okay so we'll continue with this and then while I'm doing this somehow it ended up no fitting, but only a little bit, so I just take my scissors and literally cut like the perfect little strip of wood, it couldn't have worked more perfectly, so let's go ahead and put that aside or not, I have to paint the back, I always do it.
I say to myself, "Oh, you don't need to do the back and then I have to finish doing the back. I just can't put it down, so I'm just doing a rough paint job. It's supposed to look worn out." "Anyway, so that's how it is." It doesn't need to be pretty good, so now taking a little bit of wood glue and a little bit of hot glue, I'm going to attach the second frame, so this frame is going to be our middle piece here, okay, easy, then I took a little white, I didn't do it. I liked how brown it was so I needed to add something to the back.
Well, I tried templates, but it didn't work. Needless to say, we'll be using some vinyl later, so now I'm grabbing some raffia and throwing away. I'm going to cut it first and then I'm going to separate it to get some thinner pieces because it was too thick, I didn't like it so we do that and I'm doing this first before I make my vinyl decal because I want to know how far the raffia will go so you can see that I'm pushing it down and then I'll take my period, okay, let's do it. I got this design from Cricket Design Space and there we go to the farm. fresh eggs, done, very easy, I love the paneled backgrounds, now let's add our accessories, let's personalize it, okay, there's our raffia, now these eggs, I bought them at Hobby lobby for 1.99 and they weren't on sale .
Don't judge me, I really wanted them and they were the perfect color. Now keep in mind that guys, Christy has life size eggs from Dollar Tree, like life size eggs, so she has to use four canvases for her, so keep that in mind if you want to use bigger eggs, these are a lot smaller than those eggs so I only have to use three frames so I'm going to go ahead and add I think just one more egg look how perfect these colored eggs are ah them. It's all good, so after we're done with that, guys, the cool thing was she got these rug clips and we're going to use them as chicken wire, so all I do is take my craft knife, a frame, measure it, cut it out. then I take hammered with oxide-oleum and spray paint mine, well let me tell you this is so sticky like sticky, icky ok, and it didn't help that I put spray paint on it.
She used chalk paint, so I I don't know if it makes any difference, but you're going to hot glue this all over, but just make sure you pull on that clamp because you want it to be tight, you don't want it to be. sinking into your frame. I'm just cutting off the excess here with my Cricut scissors. I'm going to make another strand at the bottom just to show you that we need to hot glue it, you need to press it tight and you're done. I'm going to follow this every which way and you can already see that it looks like chicken wire and look watch Christy's video because she did something different with her chicken wire so to find out what she did make sure to watch it and you guys, Guys, I put up our last frame and then I'm going to get some more light chalk paint.
At first the edges were a little worn, I thought I was going to use a crackle medium, but the frames were so rough that when I put this white paint on it already looked chipped. painting that's been on the farm for a long time and I love it and I'm so happy Christy came up with this because I think a lot of people will really appreciate it and I love it so of course I have to finish. the back right right okay, so this is what farm fresh eggs look like. I think it looks so good and organic, like it just came from outside.
I love this, thank you Christy creates DIY for making this and inspiring me, disappointed, okay my next one is from with chalk, elegant and they are actually very big on Facebook and I saw this and I was like, “Oh, this is so beautiful that I need to try to do it, so I'm taking a dollar tree Christmas tag sign, keep in mind the Christmas tags are a lot smaller than the Valentine's Day tags they put up, so I'm just going to use plaster, I have to rub my Vaseline because it literally took me like two minutes to try to get the lid off now. spraying that with water so it moves a little easier I'm going to cover this how many times once twice I don't know once once hit me baby one more time okay. and then I think it was the distressed diy princess I got this from and I didn't have a tea towel that's what I chalked up, fancy uses I didn't have a tea towel and I didn't want to cut a picture out of paper so um, the DIY, uh, angsty princess. she prints a picture on tissue paper and I was like, "That's cool, I'm going to do that, so I designed this in Canva.
I'll have a free link for you in the description box to print it yourself and I'll take the tissue." ". Mod Podge paper and then feel it if it has wrinkles, the more wrinkles the better you will like it, it will just make it look much more worn and impressive so as you can see the tissue paper doesn't go all the way to the top. I'm just going to regret my forehead, I need to work on the angles okay, so I'm going to take another piece of tissue paper and don't worry about the lines not showing up or anything that will blend well with. so I put some more tissue paper on it, look how perfect it looks guys, it looked so good.
I'm going to use this tissue paper trick like everything else, I swear, and then I'll go ahead and modify everything once. The tissue paper is dry now, yeah girl cut it off, don't make life difficult for yourself, now take it like a standing block, make downward motions, take off all that excess now I'm just taking old wax and I'm patting the sides, so not distressing it, I'm not like doing brush strokes, I'm just patting this stencil brush on our tag sign to give it a more rested look and then I also go in, that's not it, you guys look at that picture.
It looks so good and can you believe it looks like it was printed on the sign so it doesn't look like tissue paper? you know what I'm saying oh I love it okay so after you're done resting this or doing whatever you want we're going to take this welcome and at first I also painted the welcome because I thought I was going to use it but I'm moving on , this is deep black with folk art chalk paint and again I'm just like stippling this in there, just rushing it in the more tin it looks the better it just wasn't filling in the teal color, the mint color that was there, so I decided to cover everything and then I decided I don't want the welcome, so I took my wire cutters and I'm using my muscles here, like that thing was hard and it had two little pieces of the bracket that didn't want to come off, so I cut it off as much as I could and then, with the little pieces that were left there, I was able to put them through the hole in the sign.
It was a little tricky, but I was able to get them in there and then I just had to dispense it with hot glue, like soak it, you know, make it rain on that sign with hot glue, then I just put a popsicle stick on top just to make sure so it doesn't come out now I'm taking a piece of twine and this is going to be our hanger so put it on both sides and then I take another popsicle stick just for safety because the windmill adds a little bit of weight here and of course , we'll cover the back, who do you think I am?
I'm and I cut it out, voila, I hot glued it on and now you don't have to see that back piece, no you don't, and look how beautiful our sign turned out, look at this in chalk, elegant, thank you very much. for the inspiration, I love the way this came out, I really love that you can be inspired by people's creations and make them your own. That's the wonderful thing about craftsmanship. Well, these are four-quarter crafts. This is from Melissa. I'm in love with that woman. I'm telling you, I've been watching her stuff too much. You have to go to her channel.
So let's grab these pieces of wood from the Dollar Tree. I'm going to take them outside and we're going to sand them and cut them, but before we have to measure them, I'm going to cut them into two and a half inch blocks. There's going to be a little bit of excess on the side and we're going to cut it right, so go to the garage, let's come back, bam, there it's fine, so I'm going to clean them up with some baby wipes. They hold up pretty well and then I get that deep black. I'm grabbing these dollar tree wooden letters, they fit perfectly. perfect and I'm going to paint those pieces black, we're going to paint our piece of wood completely black, black, the top, the bottom, the sides, everything, just paint everything black here, okay, so when we finish paint all these pieces black, Let's turn our parchment paper over, take our blocks.
Now I did two coats of white on this side, the brown side, and then I covered the rest with a coat of white and I know the other side was white but it had a sheen to it. The finish wasn't digging it, soI decided to paint over that too, so once it's all dry we're going to get our wooden letters that Melissa now uses. I forgot that they are almost like tile looking pieces that she got from Dollar Tree and her. he uses the black dollar tree stickers so be sure to check out his video to see his interpretation of this so I'm just using my detail gun I'm trying to center them as much as possible and oh my gosh I love how it turned out this. and it looks so luxurious because of these wooden Dollar Tree signs like they are so heavy.
I love it and you can also make it reversible. I just didn't have enough time to be honest. Okay, now I am. I took antique wax and I wanted to add a little dimension so I decided to stress around the sides and of course you don't have to do that at all, you can leave it vibrant like that, but I really wanted to tie this into everything. My other DIYs and I really thought it made the letters pop, so once we're done with that, you guys are done if you want to make it reversible. The possibilities are endless but look how beautiful it turned out so thank you Melissa from Four Quarters Cross because I really enjoyed making it it was so easy to make and thank you all so much for being here with me make sure to subscribe okay so we'll get started with the sign here and I'll take this. sisal rope, this is from hardware stores, it definitely has a different texture than dollar tree nautical rope and is much stiffer so it works a little differently so I'm going to go ahead and start in one corner going up. on the top with our hot glue you have to hold this rope a little more.
I chose to use this rope because of the light color that I'm going to wrap around it. You have to hold this down like I said a little longer than a nautical rope and when you're turning the corners hold it down for about 30 seconds or it'll just appear towards you so let's go to follow. Wrapping this at least four times, I'm just going to jump to the ends. I didn't think you'd want to watch me do that over and over again, so I cut the ends off and just put a little more hot glue on. the ends just don't untangle, but you know, better safe than sorry, so I took it outside and spray painted it.
I wasn't looking for full coverage and then I picked up this mineral chalk paint. I like to try to wear it down, but it didn't happen that way. I didn't show up and say, "Okay, that was a sign that said, 'Stop, you're done, you're done with this tray.' Well, after I'm done with that, I take these as beads, they're from one of those mind games." . at Dollar Tree, one of my lovely subscribers sent them to me so thank you and then I did it lazily, I just put them on the end of a paint stick or a brush, painted them, dried them, we're going to do the same .
For the other three I just make a layer of these, now I'm going to place them on the bottom of my tray. I'm going to use a little bit of super glue in the middle, then hot glue around it and do the same thing. Which is for everyone, try to make sure that you can line them up as best as you can and that's it for our tray, so now, using those containers that we have in these, I took I don't know what these orange slices are. and I'm going to remove the adhesive part. I had to use my heat guns to remove them.
We're going to paint them with a coat of white chalk paint. Let's do that for the three of us. Here I made some decals on my Cricut machine, but you can use rubs on transfers or decals and I made flowers and bulbs. I thought it was cute. I thought it was a little different than Farm Fresh. You know, growing fresh flowers. That's what I was going for. to say it, I'm going to continue doing the last one after that, I'm going to take that mineral chalk paint again, I mixed it with my white brush and I'm just giving it a little more detail so it's not pure white, okay, oh , a subscriber told me to put gelatin on the edge of these chalk paints so they wouldn't harden and it works to let you guys know it's okay so now taking these containers I'm wiping them down with an alcohol wipe and I can't believe I don't have these in my stash because they're really beautiful, we're going to paint it this blue, it was sunshine so it showed up bright, which I wasn't digging at all, so I grabbed my checkered brush and grabbed it. my white chalk paint and I distressed them I left them for you guys I like this dress I do it like in every video it's my vibe um I think it adds more details to a project so you can keep it simple or you can distress it So.
Okay, so let's go ahead and finish that up and then take our little plates, I guess we'll call them, uh, let's do that at the beginning. I thought, oh, I'm going to make these super, even then I thought no. We're going rogue and we're going to watch this, so make sure your bottles are lined up so we can try to get them at the same height, but if not, we can say you did it on purpose and we. I'm going to finish that and then we'll put it all together. I decided to use some Spanish moss.
It's like my new favorite. I like that it is a neutral color. It's a great filler for so many things. I love it and then I go. to grab these mini dollar tree roses now these are light yellow they also come in a bright yellow but I love how small they are and their simplicity and you guys that's it we're done with this first mystery DIY. box, I used the sign, the wooden stickers and the plastic containers so I actually used a three in one DIY with this one so I hope you like it let me know below if you are looking into this DIY and yes I will take the bamboo cutting board. and I'm finding our middle ground.
I'm going to drill a hole because we're going to hang this here. Now I'm painting the side of the cutting board because we're going to use white scrapbook paper. I just thought it would look better, I guess I don't paint the back because it's beautiful as is, after it finishes drying I'm going to grab some scrapbook paper or cardstock, it's actually from Cricut and I go ahead and I apply my hot glue. right to our cutting board, turn it over and then I'm going to cut it now. I don't know what I was doing, but I cut the top off of this.
I don't know what happened here, so I ended up sanding. block because I have to smooth it out and make it work and after I finish sanding it I take my brush that had white paint on it, I just fill it in where the wood was coming out good. Punch a hole through y'all, this DIY is so easy it's kind of cheating, okay, okay, now I'm going to grab this burlap. This is a burlap garden garland. It's from Dollar Tree founded in California last summer and let's get started. I'm hot gluing the bottom and I'm going to take the side seam of the tape and then I'm going to attach it.
I'm going to hot glue it to the back. Now you don't want this to be too tight because you want to. being able to stick, you know, flowers on there, you could stick little notes and give them to a friend, it would be nice to stick it like a little gift card with a little bit of flowers and you know little things that I don't know, uh. so we're going to go ahead and finish this side up again, just hot gluing it. I'm just patting on the hot glue. Now I'm taking some twine, folding it, putting some duct tape on there, rolling it up and having my stained coffee. beads here, I put two of them, then I'm going to tie a double knot so our beads don't go anywhere, I tie another knot a little higher up so we have our loop and now we take those same little flowers, aren't they? ? cute and small I love them okay so I thought I was done and then I said no I can use this box to make a plate so it comes apart easily I sand the edges I take Nantucket blue paint it with Waverly and then go.
I have to go ahead and sand the top of this because it was super rough and ended up being this really cool color. Well these are the Dollar Tree flexible stencils and let me tell you if you find them pick them up especially these ones because you're so cute so this is just a Dollar Tree stencil brush and I'm just applying that white chalk paint on there it comes out so beautiful look at this yeah and I'm just going to put a little bit of hot glue on the back and set it that's it so in this DIY we use the box and we use the bamboo cutting board and all the possibilities with this they are really endless because you can use any color scrapbooking paper any color burlap or you can even use ribbon so use your creativity and have a lot of fun so taking this metal flower it had something else I can't remember what it was because I took it apart, but I'm taking Nantucket Blue, we're going to give it two coats of Nantucket Blue.
I decided to do it this way instead of spray painting it because I wanted the matte color, now speed up, this had a texture, the petals had it, like this which I wanted to make sure I made them pop by wearing them down with my whites, so We do that here, easy and simple, the dollar tree sign, we're going to take it apart and then I take my mini checkered brush and I try to paint this and I'm like, girl , you're a mess, get a normal size brush, so I do that. I'm going to do one coat, let it dry now taking some tape that was from the mystery box.
I'm going to make a border with this on the top and bottom, so I just glue it directly to the back, easy and squishy of the dollar tree and we're going to do the same with the bottom piece too, super cute, super simple, okay, so taking the polka dot ribbon, I'm going to cut the wire from the sides because I wanted it thinner than the ribbon that was already there. okay, so we're going to do the same thing, we're just going to attach it to the sides and the back, don't worry, we're going to cover all of this here, we're going to finish the top, okay.
So I fooled you, I totally fooled you, is this cheating or is it just being clever, I don't know, but I'm going to take that blue raffia and I'm going to use it to hang our sign that is for you, okay, I think. It's smart, that's what I'm going to say, not to cheat and, uh, I just double knot it in the back, it's really thin, so I'm gluing it with a little bit of hot glue to make sure it fits right. . So after everything is done, let's get our flower. This here is actually a wire that I pulled out of the ribbon and I'm just attaching it to these sides here and I like that it was silver and super thin so you could.
I don't see it at all, not that it matters because we're going to cover it up, I don't know why I said that, okay, so we're going to put it on both sides, now I realized at this point that the flower was kind. There is a hole in the middle, so we needed something back there to be able to attach the flower to the sign, so what does the girl do? She grabs the little sticky things on the pineapple. Now make sure you put super glue on these two because we all know how hot they are.
Glue and metal get along, they don't get along, so add super glue and hot glue. I just layer them. I'm going to put one more on top. I'm just going to hot glue it since it's right on top. wood and now we have something to adhere the flower to the sign, easy right now, make sure you get it even because I didn't do that and you'll see why you want it even I took the turquoise beads out of the bag I sprayed painted them blue, put them on the cable and then I tightened the cable pretty tight, put some hot glue on it, then took one of those sliced up stickers and that's what I use to hold the cable on the back now.
That's why I say make it even because there are definitely more beads on the right side than the left side, but you know, we can all be perfect, okay? And then I just distressed them because I used these spray paints to make them They were a little shiny now you guys we're covering the bags. Everyone called me out on my last DIY video. They know I have to cover the bags, but in that Cricut video I didn't cover the back and I definitely heard that. So thank you all for keeping me on my toes. Well, this is where you.
Sometimes I feel like when I do these YouTube videos, I personally love the simplicity of that sign the way it was, but I'm like. people are going to get bored people want to see more people want more so I thought: you know what? uh let's just do a messy bun, so let me know after seeing it this way versus with the messy bun how you preferred it because I really liked it as is, but it still looks really cute with a messy bow, so I cut four of them pieces of each of these tapes and then I took this tape that one of my subscribers, Teresa, sent me.
Thank you so much. I'm going to start stacking them on top of each other. I even cut some of the ribbon in half and this you could use any color, any type of ribbon, the possibilities go on and on with messy bows. Now I'm going to grab my little mini zipper. tie here you can also tie it with twine, that works and I'm going to cut it and then take the smaller ribbon. Yes, I have to cut them. They were too long, taking the thinnest ribbons. Wrap it twice to cover my flange, secure it on the back with a little hot glue.
We do not go to,girl no girl you don't need to add any more okay just stop I'm going to place it on the left side of our sign with some hot glue and here we go this is how it turned out let me know did you like it plain or did you like it? Did you like it with the messy bow? I feel like this was really different from what I usually do, I don't do it. I know why, but I still like it, let me know how you feel about it, so getting to our last DIY, all of these gave me a little pain, let me tell you, it took me two days, two days, to even figure out what.
I wanted to do. I just finished this the night before this video came out and even posted in our unicorn desk designs group. All of you women gave me so many great ideas so I really appreciate it because I was absolutely stuck so these. They are the elf pots they sent me. I'm going to paint them all white. I made a sample first and only painted the bottom half of the pot white and then left the middle one black, but you can see through the thread. So that's why I decided, you know, I'm going to paint the whole pot white and then taking these little bowls, these are from Dollar Tree, you can find them in a 12 pack in their party section, I paint these white, we make two layers. on these four items and now I'm taking Waverly ore and, uh, you guessed it, we're weathering them by adding a little more detail so they're not just white, okay, so I paint the inside edge of this with chalk roses, no I wanted you to be able to see the glowing mist inside there.
Now we are going to join our two pots. I make sure to line up my handles and then grab the thread I'm making. Make sure you start under the handle so you can see right there, that way we can make sure we cover it. So I'm going to go back and forth on this if you're someone who likes to do crafts and listen to music and think this kind of thing is relaxing. I certainly don't, so I certainly don't, so I wasn't going to subject you to torture. That's how it went after about 25 minutes and now we're going to connect them all together. to make our candle holders these are all plastic don't use real candles okay don't use fire like I do.
LED candles on these and we're going to attach them just using hot glue make sure the placement is good on these because they can twist very quickly, so I'm just putting the top on and we're done. So I debated not even putting this in my video, but I thought, you know? Just because I'm not absolutely in love with these doesn't mean they're not someone else's style, so I hope they are even if it's just one person. out there I hope this is someone else's style, okay look at me in my garage, I have some space, so let's start with this cabinet door.
You can find cabinet doors on the Facebook marketplace, habitat for humanity, things like Those are great places to find these doors, so I'm using my specialized sander. I like this one because it has a pointy top so it really gets into the corners against the edges really well and then I'm going to go in with my orbital sander. and the reason I'm sanding this is because I'm getting all that dirt out of there, all that old crusty stuff and I want to get the first layer off that's shiny so we have a nice smooth finish, for those of you.
Who hasn't seen me DIY these cabinet doors yet? Funny story, I found them on Facebook Marketplace and contacted the gentleman. It was like 15 free and I said, "Okay, where's the pickup?" and he says "Oh, so-and-so funeral home and sure." It was far away, it was all these similar samples for the different caskets you offer, how creepy, but you know what it was free, so your girl picked it up of course, and then I got there and it turns out he used to do it. being a cabinet maker and then he ended up taking over the family business which was the funeral home, he took over so it was a lot of fun, obviously your girl will do anything for free items, like go to a funeral home, I mean, shoe, okay, It's free, okay? so anyway on with that story now that we're done with this, I'm going to go ahead and grab something simple green.
There is a lady named Bree. I'm going to link her channel above her right here on the cards and I just found it. a lot of recycling and she cleans all her furniture with a garbage cutter before painting which is what I have to do so keep that in mind so here I'm just grabbing a toothbrush to get into all those nooks and crannies of this frame. making sure I get all the dirt out and then I'm going to wipe it off, let it dry and then I'm here, I'm taking, yeah, hello, I'm taking rusty linen white chalk paint.
I'm just getting those edges, especially the corners because this sponge roller is amazing, it has a flat edge and lifts up really well against the sides of things, so even though it was getting on there nicely, it wasn't getting into the corners. all right, so I'm going to go ahead and do three coats of this white. For some reason, I cut the second part of this frame or this video like I did this, which really bothers me, but um, yeah, okay. Sammy, let's get on with this, okay, I'll tell you which part I cut out, so I'm doing the second and third layer of this.
Now I'm going to grab some painter's tape and this is the part that I accidentally left out, so after I apply the painter's tape to this, there's like an inside frame right here that I'm trying to tape up and I apply baking soda to it. sodium with steel gray and I painted the interior frame that color because I wanted it to have the texture I wanted. that particular look here we go, I don't know how I cut it from my video, but I'm showing you the white part, so stay with me, so I got pretty clean lines here when I removed the tape on the left.
Some like it crunchy, so I just dust it off with our brush and now I'm going to go in, I have to clean that workspace, so now I'm going to take the oxide-oleum white linen, I'm going to take the baking. soda, now the baking soda, this was the first time I played with baking soda so I don't think I added as much as I should have but I was still happy with the texture it left me with so I'm just mixing it up. I did the same. parts um and I like it, it came out like it almost had a cement texture, like a pavement texture, and I'm sure you get more of it the more you add to it, but I just applied it with my brush. like you would paint, I just smoothed it back and forth now I'll say because I wasn't getting the ton of texture that I was looking for in this, I ended up, you know, with chalk paint when it's semi dry like it is. almost to the dry point and then you're going to put another layer on it and kind of drag that first layer up, that's what I did here.
I went in with a second coat like when it was almost dry and it started kind of pulling on it and giving it more texture, it almost looked like shipped paint, you can barely see it in the frame but it looks absolutely beautiful so there's my piece of burning love giving me a kiss Well, unfortunately I made this template on my cricut. this is too big i don't know how to send it or i would add it to my etsy store but i'm using an 813 oral mask vinyl stencil and then i'm going to go in. tape all my edges so I don't make any mistakes and then, well, first I'm going to remove the transfer tape and then I'm going to take the same sponge roller.
We're going to do two coats over these nice thin coats. Now this ended up bleeding. on me a little bit, which I knew was going to happen because the texture of the cabinet door wasn't very smooth, but that's okay because I didn't want it to look polished and, you know, the whole fantasy thing, I wanted it to look like it was. worn and rustic, that's totally my vibe so after two coats we took it off, this is really my favorite and I think it's just our saying that says our home our life our story our love our children our dreams this is us and me love I love this, I can't wait to put it at home, so let's go ahead and remove all those little bits.
I don't know why I'm still like this with this weird accent right now, right? I don't know, it's not a weird accent, it's just why I do it. Oh, it's probably because I was talking to Kathy Jo. Thank you Kathy Jo. I'll also leave your channel up and in my description box, so now I'm just taking. my mini is like a checkered distressing brush and I'm distressing the edges on the outside to bring out that texture. I wanted it to stand out and it totally worked, then I'm going to take the white and wear down the gray a little bit.
A little bit and I did it because I had so many lines that I really wanted to highlight and this is how it turned out. You see? I'm trying. It's hard because it's so shiny, but it added this beautiful texture. I'm absolutely obsessed with it, if you can get the cabinet doors, grab some because they're amazing for making signs and I'll put them on our transportation tree, okay, this is the next one, so it's like a wooden plaque from Michael's. I dyed it a while ago, never did anything with it and guess what we're using our balls for, our big giant balls.
I had five left and I thought we're going to use them today if you don't know. The funny story with these balls touched us all when we saw them, believe me, I will leave the video in the description box, so at first I took this beige territorial from Apple Barrel and covered them all, then I thought: Are you doing? They are supposed to be gray. I don't know how I went from beige to gray. So I understand this. I think Arteza calls it shipyard gray and this is an exterior acrylic paint. I mentioned it because I will explain a little. further down in the video, so I'm going to go ahead and paint all of these, these are cut out wooden beads, they're too big to call them beads, but they're actually two inches, just so you know, so let's go. to go ahead and dry them and then move on to our plate, we're also going to apply the gray paint because we're going to be using our crackle medium, so you need that base.
Now keep in mind when using whichever crackle medium you want. use contrasting colors so you can really see the crack, that's why I'm painting the base gray because when it cracks I want the gray to show in those cracks, so after I finished doing that I got some vinyl decal that said gather, I thought I was just adding something to it, now I'm adding my folk art crackle medium. You just need a super light layer of this and you just want to do something like a swipe, right? I don't want to keep going over the same spot or it's going to get gummy and it won't turn out right, so I go ahead and dry this.
Now I say exterior acrylic paint because when I put my top coat here, which is just a white acrylic. apple barrel paint didn't give me the crazy crackle effect it usually gets so I don't know if the acrylic exterior paint had anything to do with it but it still works you can see the crackle already coming out right here and This was the first time also using a crackle decal so I was very happy with it. Still, make sure you only go over once with the brush again, you don't want to keep going over the same spot because it will pull. lift that crackle up and it's going to look so dirty, okay, after it's all dry I'm going to remove that decal, it looks so cute, it was like that little baby touch, you know, and then I put the medium crunch on it. the legs are also guaranteed, I know the legs probably won't show, but that's the difference between a project and this is a finished product like I want, I want to look at it and think, you know what would happen if someone looked at this?
I would think I bought it in a store because it's so finished, that's why I do it right, oh look at that creak, creak, creak, now you can spray this with a clear, you could put polyacrylic on it. I ended up spraying it with clear after this and it's not in the video, okay now I'm applying super glue and hot glue. Now one of my subscribers said that her husband was an engineer and he said that if you apply super glue and then put hot glue on it, she counteracts it. it's so it doesn't actually even work which I thought was interesting so for this one I'm trying to make sure I put the super glue in the middle hot glue on the outside of course Hank how to say hello to mom leave a bunch . of hair in my leggings, yeah, okay, so we finished that and we finished and look how beautiful this tray turned out.
I love the crackle effect. I love that little gather. It is simple. I think it's beautiful. I like big. it is and then see the little baby lakes I love it okay next one I love this one so this is a dollar tree home sweet home sign let's go ahead and take this baby apart let it aside now, this is the bath mat You better keep an eye on my dollar tree tours because I show you what I'm going to use, so with this I'm just cutting it to size, I cut it a little too much big and we need it to fit in this frame, so I'm going to keep referencing and then go back and cut some more.
I accidentally cut too much here, so there was a big gap, you'll see. I like to try to fit it into the frame one more time and this is super easy. to cut easily and I'll tell you right now that I'm goingI'm going to use this in a lot of DIYs, so I pick some up, so then I try to hot glue it on the suction cup part and I'm like girl, this isn't even going to reach, then I realized I had to go between the suction cups and hot glue on those little rounds, then I get smarter and make strips, just going all the way down, works like a charm, this is when I realized I had a big gap, but you know what you have to do to get your creative mind going and I was like, "Okay, I'm just going to cut another piece, I'm going to hot glue it on." I kind of cut off the excess, so I do that, I don't show you all of that because it took me a while to figure it out, you know, now taking our, I think this is just Waverly white, I'm coating it.
This is what everyone sees, they see all that dimension that adds to this sign as if it were impressed. I love it. Now I'm taking my still gray brush and my distressing brush and I'm distressing it and let me tell you guys if I don't like distressing don't do it this is just to inspire you keep it clean keep it simple like this it's totally up to you remember it's all about the bones of these diy be creative and make it yours make it fit your decorating style in your house this is just my preference this is how i decorate my house and to be honest i spend money on this so i want it to fit to my house and what I like.
Well, guys, of course I cover the back, like I usually do with our shipping paper, back nice and clean, that's it, I love it, I love it, it makes me very happy, and then you guys, for the frame, I put two coats of steel gray, so here I am taking one of my subscribers, Kelly, sent me these and I don't know if they are coasters or just wood cutouts, but they are thinner wood. I'm going to dye it white and then I took this out of the crickets. one of them in your design access I'm going to go ahead and put that in, well let's draw the painting of the first lady for your vinyl to stick to and this came out like I didn't know all of these, I'm really proud of all of these so Now I'm just going to emphasize our frame.
I don't want anyone in the YouTube world to copy me. I'm just kidding. I was going to say that I can't wait to do this in a larger format. a larger version of this so I'm just sticking this little plaque on there and look how beautiful it is, that dimension that the floor mat adds to this is everything I'm obsessed with it and can't wait to make. a bigger bolder version hope you like it as much as I do okay this cathedral windows so these are the new ones from Dollar Tree now as I look at the back I notice there are three screws on the back and I say, oh girl, let's take this apart and guess what you can use that black piece for something.
Otherwise I remove the signs which actually come off very easily and then here I'm heating up the hot glue so I don't have a big bulge on the front. I'm going to repeat this step taking the signs from the fronts for the other three, we're going to use four in total in today's DIY project. Now we've seen how this is done with garden fences and I thought you know what would be nice, it's so much more. sturdy, it's thicker and looks a little more polished so I thought I'd try my hand at using these so guys I'm using the same mixture of baking soda and our steel chalk paint and here I am. painting it, oh god, of course I'm painting it, I'm getting into all the nooks and crannies I'm going to say a lot and they're not high, okay, anyway we're going to paint all this now.
I get smarter, always. I have to try it the first time and then buy the second time, so paint all the edges first. Okay, just help and then you'll get the top, leave the middle blank so you have something to hold on to, you know? And I'm really It's like stippling this, I'm not brushing it, I really like pouncing on it that way, I get a little bit more texture and that seems to help a lot and it was easier to get into, like you know the holes of this. cathedral window, so we're going to repeat this painting process for the other two, then I take our white chalk paint and just do a little bit of dry brushing, really trying to highlight those windows.
Excuse me, I love the texture that baking soda gives us. It really makes them look like cement cathedral windows, which I love now. I will say that I wish I had removed them all before starting this project and got a matte gray spray paint and spray painted the inside of them because I completely forgot to do that. and I was watching him put it together so let's go ahead and do the same thing with the other three remaining ones. I try to concentrate the dry brush a lot inside the windows so that it is almost like a shadow.
As a result of that, I now took one of the paper signs that we removed from the cathedral windows and painted the back because it was still in very good condition. I tried painting over the letters, but oh my god, it just didn't cover anything, so I chose to use the backing and then grabbed these transfers from Dollar Tree. I tried a couple of different things. I even tried. Do I want to know or do I want to put a similar text on it or something and I couldn't think of anything so I'm done? I'm just sticking with the simplicity of this with the leaves, so add your own and I can always come back and add it later.
Okay, since we got the black part out of the way, we need something to hold them together now if you leave. The black part is going to be a lot easier for you, but for me I wanted to take advantage of those other pieces, so taking the wood dowels, I just hot glued them, cut them to size, then hot glued them and I'm hot gluing them almost like the edge of this piece, so the inside of the edge is flush because you don't want it to fall there. I hope that's the case, you know, I hope I'm explaining this well, so then I'll cut it off. a little bit more size, now you're going to have to place these wooden dowels on two out of four of the ones that you're doing right and you'll see why this will give us a base to attach our little windows so you can You can see here, I'm going to put glue hot on these wooden pegs and that's what's going to connect to the other one, so we're going to go ahead and repeat that again and that's when I realized, oh shit, you didn't do it.
I'm not going to paint the inside of them, here we're going to attach them to the wooden dowel and then to the other one that's in place right now. That's the other one that will have wooden dowels, so while I look at it. Like, oh girl, you ruined it, you should have painted the inside, but that's okay, I just like a quick brush type, at least on the top pieces, because I knew I was going to add a lot of greenery to it so it wouldn't look good. It'll be like oh my gosh, but here we go, I put more wood dowels on that one and we're done with this.
I like the thickness of oh, I'm adding white to the outside edges because I didn't do that when I was painting the first time, so this is how it turned out. I love how bold it is. I like thicker windows. If you can see it in person, the concrete look of it is so striking that it looks very old. I don't know there's a story to it, I love it, I hope you enjoyed this video, subscribe and here it is, hey, do you like my pinky? Oh, that doesn't mean they don't unfollow me, unfollow me and then it's beautiful.
Momo, let's take this embroidery hoop. I have a bunch of these on Facebook Marketplace for like five bucks or something. We're also going to buy some burlap. You can get it at Walmart at any of your craft stores. burlapfabric.com, I mean anywhere. So for these embroidery hoops, they come in two pieces and that will help hold our fabric and our lace, so I decide to put the lace on, so we're going to take the top off, put it on top and then we're going to put the top back on. about this, okay, so you're going to pull what you want tight because you don't want it to sag. you are going to tighten the embroidery hoop again.
Now taking some scissors, I'm just cutting this out, so I can hot glue it inside the embroidery hoop so you don't have a bunch of extra stuff hanging out for everyone to see now. I don't know if there is an easier way to do this. This is just what I found that worked for me. It was my first time making one of these, so this is what I made. I made sure to put on finger protectors. Look at me, I even used the fingers that the protectors were on. I like to use my other fingers all the time, so after.
We're done with that, oh that looks crooked now, okay, now I grab these wooden beads that I bought on Amazon, they're in my Amazon description, oh my gosh, my description box, the Amazon links there, it's Well, that's what I was trying to say. If you're like me, I have to get everything lined up first before I can commit. I have to see it. I need the image before I can commit, so after lining them up I just paste them one by one. which in every way the great thing about the embroidery hoop is that you have that thickness to put them together, so it works very well and then taking this welcome piece, this was from Dollar Tree in the three pack, I think it was during the fall, I just sprayed Painted that blue and then hot glued it onto our ribbon.
Now I'm taking Waverly plaster. I'm going to paint all those beads white. I'm not getting the embroidery hoop, just the beads and at first I was going to leave it that way. natural wood color, but with the ribbon there I felt like it needed it, it needed that extra touch, so I was actually really happy with it and now taking these blue roses, I'm going to spray paint them. I'm going to spray paint them. blue, it looks incredible, look how pretty they turned out. Now I'm going to buy some lambs from Walmart. If you watch my channel, you'll know that zip ties are my go-to when it comes to flowers and bows, they're so easy.
To use, you can reuse the flowers, they keep everything in place. I love them so I grabbed three different zip ties to secure them in the middle and on the sides. The lambs here at Walmart are two of these pieces basically for a dollar, two dollars, no, yeah. two dollars and then I'm going to take those spits that I spray painted and I'm just going to glue them on and for some reason they were sticking so well to the lamb's ear as a material and there was no problem with that, so after playing with the placement, I'm going to hot glue everything here now that you're doing this and you little white ones for fillers are German state, they almost look dry, like tissue like flowers, but they're great for fillers.
I'm sure when you do projects like this you play with the placement before you commit and that's it guys that's all there is to this wreath it was so easy and I love the way it turned out excuse my head as always and you can . I tied a piece of twine at the top, but this hung nicely as is, so let me know what you think about it. It was my first time making one of these beaded hoops, but I really liked it. I really liked trying the spray paint. the flowers worked really well, the next one, I don't know, this is my favorite or the first one, let me know which one is your favorite from this video, so taking a bamboo cutting board, we'll start with that one.
We're going to start with, we're going to use more cut beads. Now these beads cut. Oh, I'll have to put in the sizes because they're different sizes, so at first I thought I was going to go through all of this. board with these cut beads, however, once I lined them up on the top and bottom I thought oh ah, I like this vibe. I'm researching this so I decided to go this route and I'm just going to hot glue everything together. of these that are here and you can use wood glue, you can use super glue however you prefer, but hot glue and wood, which are best friends, work very well together, so when I finish gluing all the ones I'm going to take. this wall base from Dollar Tree you can also get them at Hobby lobby wait until they drop 50 and they are super cheap so after I finally get that damn sticker off oh my gosh that took forever I'm going to do the math of wood.
At first I was going to put them there sporadically, I thought I was going to line them up with the edge, but I thought no, this reminds me of one of those milk faces, you know, I don't know, so taking the wooden beads I'm going to make half of the super glue and then on the other half I'll put hot glue we all know that hot glue and metal don't dig into each other, they don't like each other, so we have to mix that super glue in there to make sure it stays on. metal, so after I finish doing all that, we're going to get rusty linen white chalk paint and I'm going to go around, uh, oh, sorry, I'm going to start with this one first now I don't know why I use this brush because I'm done changing the brush anyway, but I'm going to get a stencil brush from Dollar Trees that I'm going to switch to so I can get into the sides of those beads, make sure they're all covered, but when I started doing that, oh my gosh, I also wanted to show you all this painting, how boring I am.
Come on, go ahead, come on, okay, stencil brush in action. I'm doing a skip almost like a stippling effect to make sure I get full coverage on those cut beads and then to maintain the stippling effect,I just go over the paint and it really creates this kind of texture that I really liked. So he was just explaining to you what he was doing there, so you didn't say why he's bouncing that all over his sign. So after we do that, we're going to take the base of the wall and I'm going to paint the top. about this don't worry about the back because it's not going to be seen and I'm going to leave the inside silver because we're going to use grays with this, so I thought it turned out really well, so I'm going to set I can't talk?
Keep doing the sides. Why do you use that brush? You know it doesn't work anymore but you're going to do it anyway. Alright. Now grab the stencil brush that we know works. I'm just going to cover. All of this I just do one coat of paint and then I'm weathering it with my steel gray chalk paint again. Preference if you guys don't like distressing, leave just your simple basic color, okay, so let's do that. I'm going to hit the sides and once you hit the sides it almost looks like the steel is kind of popping, which I really like, okie dokie.
Now taking our vinyl, I got this image straight from Cricut design space. I didn't design it myself. and I'm just using gray permanent vinyl, it says life is short, I just loved it when I saw it all right, taking this wood backing, I'm going to apply a little bit of gray on this just to make it all vibrate together. You can get these at Michaels for very little money when they go on sale. I think I found a bunch of these like a few summers ago, they were like 70 off, I think they were like three dollars or something and I bought a bunch of them all.
Right now we're going to put this all together here, look how nice it looks, so I'm going to take, I think, 1 4 inch screws and you can see the holes are already in that tin wall base for us. so I just screwed it in, it's great because it adds security and then I'm going to hot glue the sign directly to the wood. Here you already have a backing like a hanger, it's just a string hanger and now I'm going to show you how I ended up decorating it, which is super simple. I just added some lamb's ear here and look how beautiful it looks, I mean, and it goes with any type of decor, you can change the flowers according to the seasons. change, I mean, I really love this, let me know, okay for the next one.
I was inspired by these tile pieces that Teresa sent me and they didn't fit anything, so I bought the boxes, these are the ones with the drawers. on them from Dollar Tree and I just drew them by hand. I made two, but I'm only going to show you this one. I took these are actually 3D fabric paintings for Marteza and I'm basically following what I did. Now you can. use any puff paint Dollar Tree even sells puff paints, although I like the Arteza ones because they come out very thin and don't have those air bubbles, which you know if you've used puff paint before, it can totally ruin a project if you have that kind of air ball that comes out and shoots the puff paint, it's horrible, so I'm just tracing all of this, you're going to let it dry, you can even use as stencils, I mean you could really draw anything on these and do whatever same thing I'm doing.
I was inspired by seeing a type of metal sign that looks like this, so here we go, here are the two of them now taking these pieces of wood. I got it from the hobby lobby, y'all, this is like a four pack. I think it costs 3.99. They were 50 off, so it was a lot less than a dollar each or not much less, but they do what I tell them and then they take these axles. I got from Facebook Marketplace you know I'm obsessed with Facebook Marketplace. I cut them to size. Now let's take the linen white chalk paint.
Let's paint everything white. All white. The only thing, um, things that are going to be put on. two layers are the front of these boxes and the axles since they were darker now I didn't mind the black showing through the puff paint but I didn't I wanted to add gray so that's why I decided to do two layers rather than one on the puff paint side, but it will be a preference for you. Imagine you can do this if you have a modern theme or something like geometric shapes. Anything, now taking that, still gray. I'm serious. moving the stencil brush back and forth and distressing this down and um like I said uh tara she says uh no don't stress destress don't stress I don't know what I am I say it's okay anyway so let's move on go ahead and distress all of these and you'll see once we get to this part, oh, it just makes the puff paint come out at you and I love it, okay, so now we take our wood pieces at the bottom.
I'm going to draw an easy dollar tree wood glue, we'll put it on the outside edge and then I'll put hot glue in the middle. Now you might think there's no way this is going to work. Wait, but let me tell you, I've made other chandeliers before I linked that video in the description box and I use wood glue and hot glue and those things are so sturdy that I still use them in my living room today. and I can validate that it works fine, so now taking the wood glue again we're doing the same thing a circle with a little bit of hot glue in the middle and then we make sure to line up the top square with the bottom square so it has a nice straight line and we're going to do the same for this side and that's it for this project and you guys can use them as candle holders or you'll see how I displayed them.
I just put some greenery in there and I think This is a nice look, I was thinking, oh my gosh, these would also work for a coastal farmhouse because it looks like a sand dollar. I love it and I love the detail of the spindles. Everyone goes to Habit for Humanity garage sales and picks up. some shafts are okay, so the last one we're going to take is the cake pan, I think it's like the smallest version because it's the deepest one that I've used before, but this is the smallest one, I don't. I don't know which pan is which pan, but we're going to cover the whole thing in white linen chalk paint.
I'm going to give it two coats on the inside, but we'll cover the outside, so now I'm just doing one coat here. My thought process behind the mod podge was that glue doesn't like to stick to metal, so maybe if I put the chalk paint barrier and mod podge on it would have a better chance of it sticking and not coming off my metal cake. . pan, so I'm just going to finish doing that, let it dry, I don't put it on top because it doesn't matter if mod podge says it's matte or not, it's not and, surprise, we're using our bath mat again, like this that I'm going to cut a strip of this and I know many of you said on my dollar tree tours that you ended up picking some of these so good for you and if you didn't pick them why I'm going to use them. a lot, so I'm going to cut a strip and on this strip I make sure I get the largest circle and the smallest circle that's right below it, okay and then I play with the placement. and I realize that I need to cut this a little bit more, so what I do is I cut half of that circle smaller and then it fits perfectly on the side of this pan, so we're going to hot glue this on to make sure that when you do it.
When gluing with hot glue, don't put the hot glue on that big circle because it swells up, so it won't stick to anything. You want to make sure you put the hot glue around the circle and on all the connector points that are nice and straight and this sticks really well to this and I'm going to take it all the way doing the same thing, we're just going to use hot glue, don't worry what it looks like now with the hot glue underneath. because we're going to cover it so one strand doesn't fit so you're going to have to take another piece just cut it to size the same way we did before we hot glued that baby right there and then we'll go back in.
With that oxide-oleum white linen and we're going to cover the cleaning, you could even use a different color too if you wanted, so I'm just taking a chip brush. I like to use the pointed chip brush for these because the bristles go in. everyone likes the little nooks and crannies of the design and after that, you guessed it, we're going to take the still gray one more time, my mini checkered brush and we're going to distress it now if you don't like distressing it. Get it, but with something like this it really makes the details pop so you can see all the dimensions that are there, so we need legs for this little baby, so race car time, um, so pull them all out. the bills.
What we were passing I'm going to place uh, these are, I think, 20 millimeter balls, um, beads, wooden beads, whatever at the bottom of this, no, I have no idea how far away I'm putting these, I'm just looking at it. I'm going to paint these white and accent them with the gray and then we have a cute little, I guess it would be like a tray, right, I don't know, but super cute, I love all the details that the tub mat adds to this. look how beautiful this is, I love it, let me know what you think of this with the bath mat and if you bought one, okay guys that's it for today's DIYers.
Thanks for joining me, be sure to like, subscribe. are you too tired are you tired oh you look tired oh yes exhausting oh you two difficult morning difficult morning alone lying down I see that queue I see it I see you going I mean, there's my pretty face eh, look at you, it's okay, thank you, silly little look you, yeah, okay, so the first DIY look at this piece of weathered wood I love it, so let's take this and then I'm going to go in with a block of sand, this is like the hardest sanding. block that you can find at Dollar Tree.
I'm just cleaning it. I love all the dirt and grime on it, so I don't want it to be completely polished. I just want to remove the debris and then of course. our little ladybug that helps clean up a lot okay so after I'm done with that I just wipe it down trying to remove the excess because if you don't remove that excess your vinyl won't stick so I'm going to go ahead and measure the top, I will at least try to measure the top. I'm going to mark my holes and then I'm going to take my hole punch gun and punch it right through and you'll see why later, definitely.
I highly recommend investing in a piercing gun, so after that we'll take our Rust-oleum Linen White Chalk Paint and I'll give it a light coat. Now I will say that I didn't intend for the sign to be this way, I actually wanted to put the vinyl down first and paint it so you can see the wood, but it's fine so we've already gone over the basics of how I create my shapes and then. put my letters for those of you who have never done it vertically, all you have to do is highlight the whole box and come here and see the alignment that you are going to align, you could center it vertically and then make sure that your letters are one on top of the other one, so which I already came here to fix and then you're going to make sure that they're in the center so I'm going to go ahead and crop this and we're actually going to use yeah, our cricket joy so you know I always use the creator by qriket.
I'm discovering this beauty and we're going to try it for the first time together, so I just checked the length of my material. This is the clever excuse for vinyl. it is on the floor but it is a very long piece but this is smart vinyl it doesn't need a mat which I think is the best thing ever and if any of you make wood signs you know how cool this feature is and it's going to cut a 41 inch template for me okay so let's do this together for the first time let's see how it goes so I just press go and it's connected to my bluetooth here oh god the floor probably isn't the best place to place.
This since I have dog hairs everywhere, but yeah, okay, so I'm going to let this go and then I'll come back and let you know what I think, guys, this machine moved so fast, I mean, and I still feel leaves you speechless. This is cutting 41 inches of vinyl without a mat and I am shocked. I can't believe it took me so long to get this out of the box. I don't know why he intimidated me so much. Okay, now let's drink. I already put the transfer tape on top of it, which Cricut Joy has sizes so it's smart vinyl and then they also have the same size on their transfer tape so after playing around I finally got it, I'm just rubbing it on. here and now taking my deep black chalk paint for folk art and it's actually a chalk brush, but I'm using it as a stencil to paint the stencil and it works great and you'll never guess how cool it is.
This turned out, look at this and look at this long poster in one fell swoop. I didn't have to crop this image. It was cut in one. It took me less than 20 minutes to make because I didn't have to crop the image. to connect different pieces of my vinyl, oh and right here I'm just sanding it with the same rough sanding block and thenLet's grab some nautical rope, after that I'm using the thinner version from Dollar Tree. Tie this into a knot right here and I love how it turned out and I still can't believe this took me less than 20 minutes with the joy of cricket like hello and look how beautiful and distressed it is and you all should check it out.
I'm not going to play around with you, especially if you're someone just starting out, it's a great machine for beginners, okay, our next wood DIY, so I bought a bunch of these scrap wood from the Facebook marketplace for likes. very cheap and there were fencing people so these are like rough like super super rough they even have nails still raw so I'm going to line them all up together. I'm going to get my super glue wood glue from Dollar Tree. Y'all, this works as good as gorilla wood glue. I love it, so I'm going to connect them all together.
You should let them dry and then I will take the same white linen. I love how rough these pieces are. wooden ones are how I love them, see that texture there? So we're going to go ahead and finish painting this and then we're going to jump no, no, no, no, we're not going to jump to our qriket. manufacturer yet, so after we're done with this, I'm going to go ahead and grab some of the big paint stir bars and we'll use them to measure and then, you know, it'll amp this up a little bit more, so make sure to Measure the top and lower.
I tell everyone it's not the same size on the top and bottom so don't cut them all off and happily measure both and then I'll grab my table saw like you. I've seen myself do it many times and I'm going to cut them to size and once we're done, I wanted them to match. I didn't want them to look new on this piece of leather wood, so I took hazel, painted them and that's from Waverly and then took the white and, you know, gave it a worn look so it would blend in with the fence as well.
Now I'm going to apply this with the same wood glue and then I'm using hot glue on this, you guys can also nail them for added security if you want and after you know I'm going to measure my width and my height between those two pieces and let's go To jump over to Cricut creator, okay, so I designed this in qriket design space. I used as the pig image and the design access banner and then just paired different fonts for this. I already soldered it all together so It's going to be cut in one piece, we're going to use infusible ink, so when we press do here, you can see it's a picture.
Now it's telling me to use a 24 inch mat, but we're just cutting, we're cutting less than 12. inches, so I'm going to go ahead and hit continue and then we have to mirror our image because we have to flip this image on our board, so I'm going to go ahead and flip that and then I'll do where Do you already have the infusible ink transfer sheet loaded? We're going to go ahead and cut and then we'll move on to our sign, so now that we have all that, cut out the infusible ink sheets as if you were going out.
You don't need to weed them, you actually need to fold them and the paper comes out like on them, it's actually great but I have to tell you to learn from my mistakes because I left this out after cutting it for two days, that's a big no no, the infusible ink should stay in its black bag in an enclosed space, it shouldn't be outdoors, but I was convinced it was. I'm not going to waste this, so here I am, I'm going to try it, so I turned it upside down, so we mirrored it in our studio taking some butcher paper, I did 385 to 80 seconds and I'm going to press this now.
You'll see after I'm done with my first attempt here. This was the first time I did this in wood. Everything I do with you is usually the first time. You can see it didn't appear like I thought and that's because I left it. I took it outside, so I went back to my cutting machine, my qriket, and I cut it one more time and I thought, "No, this is not going to be a failed project, so here I am, this time I'm going to use heat." . strong qriket tape that will help hold it on so I'll try that again now.
I will say that if you used a wooden round or something and tried this on a smooth surface, it would probably come out flawless. Mine, however, is worn out. wood there are nooks, there are cracks, there are a lot of grooves, so it's going to be difficult for that infusible ink to get into all those nooks and crannies, so I go over my image as four different places that you can see right here. Yes that's fine. I'm totally digging that, it almost looks like it's sun-bleached. Now I'm just drilling holes. You actually don't even need a drill to attach these hooks.
You could just apply pressure and twist them. I was just making it easier for myself. uh yeah I love it I want to try the infusible ink on a wooden round. Oh my gosh, that would probably be amazing, especially with all the printing they have on infusible ink sheets. Yes ma'am, okay, now I'm going to feed my thread. or my nautical rope over here, rope whatever it's called and I wanted it of course to go with my grocery task and then I just put a little bit of white on those hooks just to mix it all up and this is how it turned out now you can use this , I mean, imagine too, if you didn't want a kitchen, you could use this in the bathroom and put that basket in there, hang some little towels, you can do the kitchen, your kitchen utensils here and you guys, that was so much fun. easy to make and I'm so glad I tried it on wood because you guys know I love my wood signs so definitely worth trying with the infusible ink.
Well, the last one, you, this piece of wood, look at all this like this one even has it. like tons of nails still stuck in, I have a ton of different pieces so I think this was flooring or trim, I have no idea but I cut them to size, sorry about that kind of film, uh look my phone was dirty from the cut. these pieces I'm going to go ahead and just do them all in white linen uh I don't cut or paint the middle there or the base I should say right now I'm just taking my wood glue and hot glue and We're going to glue our ends first and then I'll do the bottom y'all, oh where's my mind?
I literally put that on the bottom of the side, okay, so I'm going to put it on the side that it's going to join and then our. On the front now I should have also put wood glue and hot glue on the sides of this piece, I don't know what I was thinking but if you wanted to sell them or something you would need to put nails over here just for added security so just a notice if that's on your mind so now that it's done I can't wait to show you this okay so we're on our cricut machine and y'all I'm so excited I just learned how to make this. myself so I'm excited to show it to you so I already made a rectangle previously and then I wrote my text that says recipes and this is in the Easton font so I'm going to go ahead and move this into my box and then I'm going to go arrange the go ahead, so I'm going to make the box bigger because we're going to make this a reusable template, so I'm going to highlight everything and then go here, bottom right. make a cut do you see how it separates everything here so we don't need it anymore we don't need it anymore and then we're going to go back to the shapes and I'm going to get a square and I'm going to Convert this to any day now click like little lines of Baby, okay, I don't know, let's make them red so you can see them.
I'm going to duplicate them. I need two of them and we have to make sure we see. the inside of like the r and then the p we need them to be connected if we want to use this as a reusable trans template, uh, a reusable template, so I'm going to go ahead and rotate this one here, put it right there, okay, so that go to S. Now we're going to highlight everything and solder it back together. Well, now you see that it is well connected. Now you guys, I'm not using index dividers as a joke.
This is from the dollar tree. There are eight here. Well, I already made one. practice run i told them this is the first time i'm doing this, they also make stencil movies uh this is what i had on hand and i thought, oh, i'm trying this on my cricut, so again, here it is, ya It is lined. up for us and then remember that we already made this box so we don't go outside the lines when we paint. I'm going to hit continue and then you guys, that's how easy it is to use the Cricut. Okay, like looking for materials.
Hello, concentrate. okay, and then I'm going to go down, I mean, you could see how many materials this thing cuts, it's absolutely crazy, okay, let me go down, I'm sorry, sir, okay, no, it's not paper, plastic, okay, you have all these different options for plastic, well there it is. It says stencil film, I'm going to go ahead and click on stencil film and you guys, this cuts like butter, so let's go over here and it'll start cutting for us, it'll detect that we have the right tool, which we do and yeah. let's cut this bad boy out we'll move on and I'm so excited I figured out how to do this do you know how much money this would save you in the long run if you're someone who makes repeat items for craft shows or oh my gosh or even during the holidays oh okay guys this cut was so fast so quick and the setup everything worked perfectly I didn't have to adjust anything on the machine oh I'm so excited. okay, now that we're back, you're going to remove this like you would any normal piece of vinyl, but the thing is when you remove it from the mat, I'm using the light grip map, you have to go slow.
I don't want to break those connector pieces on your reusable jig, so I'm going really slow and then look, guys, we have a reusable jig. I'm really excited that this is going to make future projects a lot easier and then no No, you don't have to cut every time like, yeah, okay, so I just held this down. I'm using my Dollar Tree stencil brush, my rich black folk art chalk paint and we're just going to stencil this and you. everything worked perfectly as well as any other template. I'm so excited to have tried this for you.
Oh I'm just so excited and you could make this with the Cricut Joy too. It is the same leaf that is on the cricket. joy, so all you would have to do is cut this to the right size and there let's see how sharp it looks, then I took my sanding block and sanded it and tried a couple of different things, but I thought do you know which one is the simple way? to go so I put a glass jar in there with some floral wooden spoon recipe chips and that's it guys these wood pieces turned out absolutely amazing the joy of cricut and cricut creator helped make these projects They will go from monotonous to fabulous.
I'm sure I'll leave some of the links to the things I used in today's article.
