best

Spring and Easter DIYs, so sit back... Relax and let's start designing and DIYing "to the max"! I have five very inexpensive and great Easter/

spring

crafts for you. This is a new series I started where the goal is to have a designer looking

decor

piece that costs around ten dollars or less but has a high price tag. end, end, and if you watched last month's episode, the first project I made was this really amazing love sign with metallic gold.
25 absolute best spring diy home decor projects on a budget
I loved this piece, it was definitely one of my favorites now at the time I said to keep this because it was a back and for our first DIY we are going to do Happy Easter, now you could do Happy Spring if you don't celebrate Easter, It's totally cool, we celebrate Easter at my house, so we're going to do Easter now, although I'm going to use a Cricut machine to complete my project for those of you who don't own a Cricut machine. I haven't forgotten them. I have a ready-made printable that you can use to transfer this exact image onto your wooden round, so whether you have a machine or not, you can do this project now if you stick with me until the end.

More Interesting Facts About,

25 absolute best spring diy home decor projects on a budget...

I promise you three things, one of them is that you will have a lot of fun or at least I hope you will. On path number two, I'm saving my favorite project until the end and three until the end. I have several free things for you even until the end, so you'll want to keep an eye out so you don't miss out. I know... so let's get started. I started by painting the back of the round with a blue paint mixture that I mixed up myself and didn't like, so once it dried I painted it with Waverly chalk. paint in the color group now we're going to go to the Cricut design studio and we're just going to put Happy Easter.

Now the font that I'm using is called nocturnal and you can download it for free at dafont.com and then you'll be able to have it on your computer and then Cricut Design Studio will take that font and you'll be able to use it there so that's really cool so once we have our sign placed the way we want, we just go in and get our vinyl ready now. I bought this gold vinyl and some of you may decide to cut the vinyl and call it a day, but I'm really in love with this pure gold metallic folk art.
25 absolute best spring diy home decor projects on a budget
I really like the way it looks, so I won't be. using vinyl today and this is removable even though it's almost the same color, it's funny, it's very close, but this is not as warm, the vinyl is not as warm, so we'll use this as a template, but I know. I'm going to get feedback on why you didn't go ahead and use the vinyl right because it doesn't match the gold that's already there and I really love the warmth of this gold so let's move on. and just use that paint today if you don't have a Cricut, here is the process, take the printable that I provided in the description box below and place it on your circle, place graphite paper underneath and trace the letters that will transfer to the wood and then just hand paint it in gold color if you're using a vinyl cutter, now it's time to apply your stencil and then we're going to do a layer of the original blue color over the stencil.
This is the same technique I use to scratch my walls. and the reason I do this is that when you bleed it bleeds the original color and inevitably most things bleed especially if there is any kind of texture so this is just a way to avoid some bleeding and once the blue color dries, We'll go and do two coats of our gold to get a really nice pure gold color and then when it's dry all we have to do is lift up the vinyl stencil and that's it. I'm so happy with how this turned out this Easter. sign and if you look at this, we have love, we have Easter, so we have two for one, it doesn't get any better than that because now it makes this wooden round cost half as much, so it was originally six dollars for this. round of wood and by doing it over two holidays that saves you a lot of money.
Double purpose. I love it. I made blue because it coordinates with all the other colors I have, but you can really make any pastel color you want. I want to, so for my next DIY we'll call it a mini Easter bell. I actually have a couple different ways I'm going to do this, so you're going to have a couple different options here, so stick with me and me. I'm going to explain everything, almost every item I got from Dollar Tree and now I'm not a big Dollar Tree crafter, but if I can make it look pretty good then I'll go with that, so this is what I had planned, so I came across these chandeliers at Dollar Tree and thought they were amazing.
I loved the way they look, they're pretty sturdy for a Dollar Tree candle holder so I grabbed like five of them and then I got like three and white because I haven't seen many of them in stores so I wanted to make sure I had stock, so hope you can find them in your store. You can also find brackets similar to this in the unfinished wood section at Michael's. with a 40% off coupon it will still be extremely affordable, maybe a couple of dollars, so I have also used them before so I found that this glass was curvy and not very flat on the bottom, flipping it over it fits perfectly. our chandelier and there you have a mini bell, but I'm not going to leave it alone like this, but you can also put it from the bottom down and it also forms a beautiful hurricane, so now there is also that option to make the bell. some kind of knob or handle and not always but usually there is some kind of

decor

ative knob on the top, well you can use a cabinet pull if you are a perfume lover like me...
I have narrowed it down to like one of my favorite perfumes that I wear most of the time and it's Princess by Vera Wang. I really love that one. Usually perfumes come with very pretty bottle decorations, so instead of using a cabinet knob this time I left this one from one of my perfume bottles, that means it's free and we are recycling it from our perfume bottle. perfume and I thought we could just stick this on the top of our hood like this and how cute is that really and it's such a luxurious look that you would never do that.
Tell him these things are from Dollar Tree and then I went to get a mini bunny at Dollar Tree since they have these ceramic painting kits for toddlers. I thought the bunny was very cute, now we are going to have to remove the ornament very carefully take out this bunny and you could leave it white and do something with it like this and that would be very cute, but I have a little bit of cement spray paint left from a project last fall and I thought it would be fun to give it a cement look and then we could go back to the top and add a little more white and we'll have to play with it, but I thought it would be fun to make our little bunny of stone.
Then we'll just put down a little bed of moss that we got from the Dollar Tree and put a little bit of that on the bottom of our candle holder and then place our bunny on top. We could even add some greenery and other things to make it feel a little

spring

y, maybe a few small flowers and then we'll put on the bell top and there you have it again. You could do this whole process by doing it with the bottom down and just the hurricane and do everything else exactly the same and that would be super nice.
I'm actually really surprised at how much I love how this turned out. Also as a little added bonus I grabbed one of my little ones. Easter nests from last year's DIY card holders and just placed them on top of each other with some extra greenery that you had on hand, so that's just a little side thing, this is not the focus of our project, our Bunny of Easter. It really looks like a concrete one now. I don't think that has anything to do with a cement spray paint I used honestly. I wouldn't recommend it just because I feel like getting the real concrete look that you have to adopt. through some extra steps so it would be just as good as using gray paint or gray primer so we're in this case for $3 or so a little bit for supplies and it's really nice so next time I'm thinking throw away some of those empty perfume or beauty product bottles that have a cool lid.
Save it, you never know when you might need it, so make it yourself number three. Now we are making a sign with a moss bunny, if you remember this sign. From my cold and cheap episode last month, I made number 14 for Valentine's Day, well Valentine's Day is over and if you remember, I just stuck them here with some little glue dots, so in theory, we should be able to get them out very easily. and we're going to use the frame from that project that you take our spring-themed photos with, so this is going to be very versatile and I have a feeling it's going to be repeated every time I do "Way Cool, Dirt Cheap" which, you know?
I may change it here and there, you never know, but if you missed last month's cool, cheap episode, I'll tell you how to prepare the wooden frame, which is actually a wooden canvas that I bought at Walmart for $4, 97. and I just turned it around to the back where I painted the inside part white and the outside frame part black and then distressed it a little last month. I used some glue dots to attach my number 14 and they ended up being a lot stickier than I thought. which they would be, so I ended up having to sand this down and do some paint touch ups just because of how sticky the glue dots were.
Now I picked up this moss sheet at Dollar Tree, the kind of hit and miss, so if you see, grab 'em, you can find moss sheets in a lot of different places, but this one was only a dollar and it's actually the perfect size to fit inside our frame. I have a printable for you of a bunny and you're going to print it out and we're going to use it as a template and we're going to cut out our moss sheet now. Every time you work with Moss, you are sure to make a big mess, so you should know that from our glue dots.
They were a bit of a fail, we're going to attach our moss bunny using mounting putty and we're just going to temporarily attach this to our sign because you never know what we're going to use with this little sign next so we don't want to do that. permanent I just think this is really cute so I put a little plaid bow on our bunny it's really cute so it was five bucks but now we've worn it twice so it's down to $2.50 (USA). We used a leaf of our dollar tree moss for a buck and some extra ribbon I had on hand so there really is nothing better than we can use this frame over and over again but don't use those glue dots they worked a little .
Very good, so next we are going to make a garland of carrots and pompoms. I'm excited about this because if you remember, a couple of months ago I made giant pom poms and put them on pillows. I put them on a blanket. and I showed you how to make them. I bought a set of these pom pom makers and in that set there is a little pom pom maker and I think this is the perfect project for that. I bought this green yarn from Michaels. and he was on sale. I don't remember, it was only a couple of dollars, we probably won't use much of anything.
I thought it would look really cute with these carrots that you can find at Dollar Tree to make the mini pom poms. You take out one side of your little tool, you'll wrap it back and forth in your machine until it's almost full in the center, and you'll do it again on the other side once you've closed your machine. You'll take some scissors and you'll cut it until it's like a fuzzy thing, then you'll take another piece of yarn and you'll tie it really tight in the center, then you can open your pom pom maker and you'll have a mini. pom pom I'm going to use some of this jute twine that I bought at Dollar Tree just because it's a little bit sturdier than twine, a little stiffer, so I think it'll hold the weight of everything a little better and I like that rustic feel natural, especially because we're doing a very farm-like feel with a lot of these very springy earthy feelings and then we'll just rotate the pom poms and the carrots.
I used the excess pom pom yarn to tie them to the twine and trimmed off the excess to blend in with the rest of the pom pom. I used the twine to tie the carrots and for extra reinforcement I used a small dot of hot glue on each carrot we have our adorable carrot and pom pom garland. This was only a couple of dollars and you can do it for as long as you want. I'm obsessed with it. Let's go ahead and put this in our last DIY. favorite the peter rabbit sign you'll want to hold on to your seats maybe even have a towel nearby because you're going to sweat no, I'm just kidding, this is probably the easiest DIY, I can hardly call it a DIY.
I've made it super easy for you now, if you remember, last month, super cheap, we made this I Love You sign and it's so cute. I've been loving this all month. I love it, my love. sign if you have a 16 by 20 frame on your

home

or maybe you can find one at a thrift store for very, very cheap. Now we're reusing this from last month's project so we'll probably reuse this frame a few times depending on the season at least that's my plan so I just reused a sixteen by twenty. I don't put the glass on it just because I feel like it looks more artistic or like a sign without the glass, but you can totally put it on.
The glass is just a matter of personal preference, that's how easy I made it for you. What you are going to do is download this adorable print and I have provided the link below, isn't it so cute? Unfortunately, Peter Rabbit, this doesn't meet the criteria to print as a color designed print, so you'll have to technically print it as a poster and you can now do that at Walmart for $9.86 (US), which puts you right under that $10. If you already have the frame on hand, print it in a matte finish, you get your print, place it in the frame and voila, we're going to take our garland from DIY project number four and just pass it on. right down to the picture frame and carrots with the Peter Rabbit with the orange and blue, it's so springy and so cute, and you're welcome because it's the easiest DIY ever!
I'm just kidding, if you're interested in getting this print, the link is in the description box below, but for less than $10 and you already have last month's frame, it's super cute, it would look great in a nursery. It would also look really cute for a baby shower and is definitely cute for your spring and Easter decor. I have three spring copies from Pottery Barn, so let's get started. My first copy is the Aro vine baskets. They don't sell them on their website now, but they were very cute, so they will serve double duty if you like these baskets.
I'll show you how to make your own, since they don't sell them anymore, but when they originally carried them, they ranged from forty to sixty dollars per basket. I'm going to try to make the biggest basket today and luckily for me, I already had one. everything we have on hand, you know, my husband always says why do you need all these craft things, because right now I can't go shopping because we are doing social isolation and it's perfect, the first thing we're going to do is Let's take this basket and this is from the Dollar Tree so a dollar is very affordable and I really liked the shape of this.
It's really cool and also the mesh it has will be a very good opportunity for us to come together. our vine now I have these leftovers from some fall decorative pumpkin

projects

I made. I ordered this on Amazon. I think it cost about $7.50. I will also provide a link for one of these in the description box below that we are going to use. to wrap this basket and as our handle that takes us to our handle now. I didn't think this vine would be strong enough on its own. I wanted to give it a little more substance, so necessity is the mother of invention, so what can we do to add support to the handle of our basket?
So I went and got an old wire hanger from the dry cleaners and we're going to try to make and design some support for a handle with this and we'll match it with a vine so it has a nice look, but hopefully this wire hanger should add a little more stability to our handle so you can hold it by the handle in theory, so that's what we're going to try to do with this, so I started by unscrewing the wire hanger to separate it and then I bent it and shaped it into a U shape, then I hooked one side of the basket and turned it.
Now I don't know if it's a good idea or if I should have done it. I just waited, but it ended up working out fine. In the end I cut a piece of grapevine wreath long enough to fit the hanger, slid the hanger down the center of the vine, and then secured it firmly to the other side. I add extra wire where it connects to the mesh basket to make it really sturdy, then I start wrapping the vine around the mesh basket and once I have it basically in place, I strategically connect it to the basket as I go, removing some of the existing ones. wire that holds the vine together so it can be loosened and spread out a little.
I use the original wire from the vine and cut it into four pieces. I use it to connect to the basket now that I have it. Basically, since I like it, it's time to add moss, so I have my macdaddy cordless, hot glue gun, surebonder, this comes in a mini size that I'm going to use today, but I love this glue gun because it's cordless, so it's the The cable doesn't interfere with your creation and then you just put it in the base and it charges while you're not using it so it's awesome. I loved it and the link for that will also be below.
I placed glue and moss randomly sporadically around the basket. I cut some boxwood I had on hand and placed it strategically around the basket. Now this isn't in the original, so this is totally optional for you, but I thought about it. It looked really nice, so I took it outside and sprayed it with a couple coats of hairspray just to make sure everything stayed in place a little better. I wasn't going to do the arrangement originally, but I decided to go ahead and do it. I did it at the last minute to match the later images a little better, so I didn't get any images of this process, but I literally just had these daisies on hand and found some extra greenery and played it all up at the last minute.
Easy and to be honest with you I actually like my version better than the original and your version was $60 and mine was only 11 and would only be about $9 without the flowers so what do you think of it? so for my next dupe for spring there is a tulip shaped card holder. Pottery Barn sells a set of four for $30 and we're making our own for a small fraction of the cost. Now luckily I had already bought these things because when I see them I would like to stock up on these little pots, they are so cute you get three for a dollar which makes them 33 cents each and then I had some tulips left over from my project last episode and I think they're going to be perfect for this project and they're about $0.50 each so we're going to use some of our Dollar Tree moss again, we won't need much and then I also have some styrofoam scraps left over from my last episode, so these are like bare bottom, but you don't need much because these pots are pretty small because of my card holder from last year.
I just want to take them out for this project so I don't have to make new ones and now They are easy I just hot glued them on so if I wanted to put them back all I would have to do is glue them back in place that's all the supplies, so let's start putting it together. This project is ridiculously easy to put together. together you start with your mini pot, you need a small amount of styrofoam and place it in the pot to make it nice and snug, then you take two tulips and cut them about an inch below the base of the leaves, then place two tulips. one side and then again on the other side, then I put some hot glue on the foam and take a piece of moss and fill it so you can't see any of the foam, then I take my pre-made wire from my last place card holders of the year and push them in the middle.
All I did with this was take some wire and make a curly Q and then straighten it at the end. It is quite an easy process if you look at it and also another solution for you. To take the bottom section of the tulip, it also has a wire that slides out and you can definitely curl it the same way as the ones I used and I basically have a free version. Again, I like mine better than the original. I like the Pinker version of the tulip and I think they're really amazing and at only six bucks for a set of four versus thirty, it's a better price to start with, but what do you think my latest Pottery Barn knockoff for spring is Peter Rabbit ? napkins I saw at Pottery Barn, the regular price for these was $40 for a set of four, we're going to make our own for pennies on the dollar so I created this printable right here.
I found this image on a royalty-free site. so no copyright infringement or anything about that so I have this for you and I am providing a link in the description box below and I printed it on an iron on image transfer paper which I actually used on my pillow from the Easter Bunny recently, so I had some left over, I didn't have to go to the store, all the things I'm working with I already had on hand, so I had some pillowcases that I had cut out and not sewn yet. that I had on hand, so even though they were a couple of inches too small, I went ahead and used them because they were the right type of fabric, if you needed to buy fabric I would recommend using just some plain muslin.
Mine were cut to 18 by 18 inches, but once they were sewn and ended up being around 16 by 16 just for reference. The original finished size, I believe, is around 20 by 20 inches. I folded the edges on my sewing machine now you can always use pre-made napkins and I definitely wouldn't judge you but I think making them myself saves me a ton of money once you have them all sewn or purchased then we cut out our printable which was printed on the image transfer paper I mentioned before and then you have to remove the backing. With a lot of care, it's a little tricky, especially with butterflies, but it's doable.
I like to remove mine with a pin, then I heat the center of the bottom of the fabric for about five or six seconds and then place our image right in the center. and then place a sheet of paper on it and iron for about 40 seconds. Now I use my Easy Press (Cricut). It makes the job a lot easier, but you can definitely also use a hot iron and just follow the instructions on the package, while mine doesn't exactly match what I normally like. Overall, I'm very happy with the end result and definitely happy with the huge savings of $40 versus three dollars, but what do you think?
So what do we do if we have a little more free time? Well, if you're like me, then I open my laptop or turn on my phone and I go to Pinterest and look at all the beautiful things and then I visit YouTube to learn how to make them right, so I hope you're here today. I have three Pinterest-inspired DIYs for you, so let's start with my first Pinterest-inspired spring DIY. I've been seeing all these cuties. bunny landscapes on Pinterest I have seen them with a crown of greenery around them. I've also seen a garden landscape and what's really cool about it, if I already had everything on hand, I didn't have to buy anything I had. this stone like cement Easter bunny I bought at Ross last year for $5.99, they are pretty easy to find, you can find any type of bunny you want, so I have this pot left over from the topiary tree of my heart.
I did two and only finished. I started making a topiary from the heart and all I did was buy this plastic pot, it's black, and I bought it at Walmart for two dollars and ninety-six cents, very affordable, and then what I did was grab a terra cotta pot which you can I look like it was a saucer and it was about a dollar and I took some black chalk paint and I painted it and then I glued it on just to give it a more luxurious finished look and it was very easy to put together and then these were on my tablescape too, so the only thing I played with was making it like this and putting some greenery, but this is a little bit too small, so I don't think I'm going to do that direction, but what we're in place, what what we're going to do is create a sort of nest effect by placing it around the edge of this and then we'll build it like a garden landscape to have a variety of leftover vegetation that I had on hand.
I have a large variety of white flowers from Dollar Tree that I used on my Easter table last year and then occasionally you just need the tops of the flowers, so I have these leftover greens. I think using all of these greens together kind of creates a garden effect and normally you would throw some of this greenery away. I have a paper bag and I'm going to tear this up and crumple it into a ball, let's take it off first. We're going to stick this down here so we don't have to fill it all with Styrofoam because that's a waste.
I have some green Styrofoam left over from another project, but I'm going to take my hot knife because I have it handy, and we're going to cut it out and put it in here so that it's pretty stiff and gives us a solid base for our bunny to sit on. . My husband is walking strangely (laughing) That's funny, I think he was trying not to interrupt me. I don't know if that will help or not. You want me to get creepy, just kidding? he is not. This hot knife is actually a very useful little tool, it cuts through the foam very easily and it's not very expensive either.
If you're interested, I'll put a link in the description box below. I use it to cut the green Styrofoam until it fits. comfortably in the pot, it shouldbe tight enough to support the bunny's weight. I fill in the spaces with something extra and make sure they are tight too, then I take my Dollar Tree wreath and place it on the edge. Do anything to secure it because I imagine all the vegetation will hold it in place, but you could definitely do that if you wanted to. Then we started adding our greenery. Try to place it as you might see it in nature.
If you want to mix the different types of vegetation together, kind of an inner ring shape, then I place the bunny to see how it looks in the hiding place, okay, I felt like the bunny was too low, so we put another square of foam Styrofoam that I picked up from the Dollar Tree and had on. I already have the hand to lift it up a little bit more, so we're going to place it here now, when I move it to its final place, I'm going to remove the bunny because I'm not going to attach it permanently. the bunny here because I might want to reuse it for something else in the future, plus there's a lot of weight here so now that it's sitting here I'm going to top it off with a little bit more greenery so I basically took out all my supplies and asked myself what can I do? use to have to spend money on this project.
The different variations of greenery are really what will give you this stunning garden effect now. We've got a pretty good little base and I figured you can never go wrong with fairy lights, so we're going to add some fairy lights before we add a bunch of other things because I think that way it'll disguise itself. Sometimes it's a little better if you turn on the light, so it helps you position them a little bit. This is a good opportunity to make our focal point and I think we're going to put this right here and then I top it off with some leftover flowers from my dollar tree, now I'm going to add some Easter eggs and I also have some carrots and we're going to Let's pop in and see how they look, so let's just do some finishing touches here.
My second Pinterest inspired DIY are these modern tulip arrangements that are arranged in these cylinder vases even though they are described as a modern arrangement, what I like about this is that they could really go in so many different ways. Decor styles and tulips are always very stretchy for me, so my microphone wasn't on during the section, so we'll do a little more voiceover. You could definitely make this arrangement with fresh tulips, but I decided to make it with a few. silk tulips that I ordered on Amazon that look amazing and very realistic, they are actually even prettier in person than on camera.
I ordered 30 of these in bulk on Amazon which makes them less than 50 cents per stem which I thought was an amazing deal and they have a multitude of colors so I'll put the link for these in the description box below. continuation. I start by taking a glass vase that I already had on hand. If you want to use the cylinder vase from Dollar Tree, you could definitely do this, but this one is a little larger and I thought it would work great for this project. I picked up some smooth black stones at Dollar Tree and placed some in the bottom of the vase and then continued. arranging my tulips staggering the heights of the tulips with my tallest being in the center now you can arrange this however you want but this is just the approach I took once I arranged them basically how I like them then I'm going to mix it up in my kit fake water, I mixed the whole kit and in the end I didn't need it all so I wasted a lot because once you have mixed it it will dry hard so you won't be able to reuse it so if you go to use a Dollar vase Tree for example you definitely need a lot less so you can make sure when you mix them you do equal parts and save the rest for another project so for one from Dollar Tree I think you'll probably need about half a package of this size, you will mix the water kit for approximately three to five minutes, making sure to follow the package directions.
Now when you pour this into the vase you want to avoid the side so aim for the center once you have your With fake water you can carefully put the tulips back into place and you can move them a little bit but you should try to avoid moving them too much, otherwise you might smear some epoxy on the side of the vase and that's not the case. If it's a good idea, you can configure the arrangement however you want and let it harden. I want to briefly tell you about the new vintage candle companies fragrances they sent me, which are Country Pear and Mango Citrus.
They both smell

absolute

ly amazing and the mango citrus might be one of my all time favorites and is a whole new scent if you want it. If you're interested in purchasing these

absolute

ly amazing smelling candles, I'll put a link in the description box below, so for my latest Pinterest-inspired spring DIY, we'll be making some Easter bunny tags you've been seeing everywhere , I'm sure. You've seen these types of tags all over Pinterest and I just like them. I thought they were cute, so this is a very inexpensive project. Now I bought most of my supplies at Dollar Tree and you know me.
I'm not a big Dollar Tree DIY fan, unless I really think I can see it right, you can find these boards at almost every dollar tree now, they're pretty widely available, obviously that's going to vary from store to store, but I I've seen. These are found in several stores and they usually have them on hand. I thought they were a good size. They were light. I thought we could cut them without too much trouble. You know, if you don't like celebrating Easter, you don't celebrate. It's cool because you can change this very easily by writing spring and doing like a daisy on it to make it really flexible.
You can get a spring look with this and that's the purpose of this episode is to show you how you can get it. Get inspired on Pinterest and make it your own and what's also awesome is that you can make them reversible if you want so I marked where I wanted to make my cuts including where I wanted my hole to be and then I just used my miter saw to make the cuts now yeah You don't have a miter saw, you can use a hand saw, this is faster for me so I would like to use that.
You know my motto, girls can use power tools too, so I took my Half Inch Drill Bit and drilled a hole. I made sure to put a piece of wood underneath to protect my drill bit and the table I use. I designed a printable that I will put the link for in the description box below that says Easter in Two. different fonts and also a bunny. I use some transfer paper to transfer the image to our boards, but I would almost suggest you use the chalk method because on the chalkboard it worked, but you want to make sure it's pretty shiny.
If you're going to do it this way, I just grab some white craft paint and use some cheap paintbrushes from Dollar Tree. I don't know if I would recommend them, but they did the job after doing it. They dried up, I grieved them as much as I could, they didn't grieve as well as I would have liked, but it is what it is after they grieve. I used a rope I picked up at Dollar Tree and I kind of slipped. I knotted it and then tied a knot at the top so they would hang like tags now.
If I were to redo this project in the future, I would probably just use unfinished wood, especially since I ended up not needing to use my miter saw anyway because I think I would have gotten more of the look I'm going for, so keep an eye out for that. Also, I think it might be a little cheaper this way, especially if I use my scrap wood that I have on hand, that being said, I did it. I think these turned out pretty cute. I hope you're enjoying what you've seen so far. I have much more to come, so stay with me.
I'm NataLee and I'm a glutton for punishment. I'm going to make an investment in thrift stores and start by continuing my never-ending mission of finding a good thrift store. I've had the worst luck. Have you been following my channel, but my friend Lisa gave me a hint that I got a little lucky at a thrift store that I didn't know about that was actually very close to my house, wouldn't it be funny if during all this time the

best

thrift store was very close to my house and I completely overlooked it? I have something in mind, we'll see if I can make it happen, so we're almost there, wish me luck, we succeed!
I'm so excited this is probably one of the best thrift stores I've ever seen and since I moved to Orlando I haven't even finished shopping here so I'm excited! Do you see the smile on my face? This is the smile of success. Who knew this thrift store is literally just minutes from my house? I didn't know it existed and as you can see I have some stuff in the back. I'm really excited because now I'm not going to redo all of these items in this episode, so you'll have to stay tuned for those to come, but I'm going to do something with those lamps, so I looked at this base. of this lamp and I actually saw a lamp post, it looks like one, it's like a column that you could technically leave in this color... we're not so I thought it would be fun to make an outside street lamp in a smaller place . scale I had another episode, if you haven't seen it yet you'll definitely want to check it out after seeing all the other amazing goodness.
I made a DIY light post for Christmas and it looked like a really tall one. I'm going to turn this into a solar powered lamp. There are many options with this project, so let's start redoing the lamps. If you like this type of project, let me know in the comments section below because I have a lot of ideas for lamp posts. Which is why I'm on that kick, the first thing we're going to do is take this lamp apart. I have to stand up. I'm a little short. Okay, so we'll remove the lampshade and then. Obviously we have to take out the light bulb, it's not plugged into the wall and that's how we want it.
How many people does it take to unscrew a light bulb? You have to be careful, you don't want to break these kinds of things because they can cause a lot of problems, but they are supposedly environmentally friendly, so as long as they don't break, then we have to take this harp off, so then I just unscrew it. the lamp holder until it falls apart and then I decided to just cut the wiring and take it out the bottom leaving only the base of the lamp, this includes the felt lining at the bottom of the lamp. Hat?
I don't think so... now I'm all about reusing and reusing, but unless you can tell me a good reason to keep this screen, I think I'm going to throw it away because I don't even like the shape, so it would have to be a pretty good idea. creative, so if you have one, let me know below, so I've been going back and forth, back and forth about this and I still haven't made a decision. but there is already texture on the lamp so I have a matte matte black spray paint but I thought it would look nice to add a little more texture so I also have a hammered black so hopefully I made the right choice here.
I'm going to start with a matte black because I think it's going to be kind of like a primer and if I'm not happy with it I'll turn to this one and they're both Krylon so we're going to start spray painting them now. If you're not lucky enough to find a column lamp base, go ahead and replace it, don't they look so much like lamp posts? I ended up choosing the matte black and it's actually definitely not very matte in my opinion. I would put it in this satin to semi but I really loved this spray paint because it covered really well and I could turn it at different angles and the spray paint would still come out so I really liked it.
I didn't end up going with a hammered finish because I felt like the lamp had enough texture after all, so we're really going to take it to the next level in the lantern look. I looked everywhere at my local

home

improvement stores and finally ended up on Amazon where I found A 2 Pack of Solar Powered Street Lights right here and I will put the link for this in the description box below but I thought they were perfect so they don't require any electrical wiring which I love but they will still light up. as long as they're charged by the sun, which here in Florida we have plenty of that, so we're good now it comes with this square and my round lamps and I find that a little funny, luckily the bottom comes off. and so we can get rid of this, the problem is that when I get rid of this, it wobbles a little bit here, so I thought I'd take a small hacksaw and try to cut this out because this part fits really well. our existing dowel and it will be nice and snug so I'll try cutting it out but if that doesn't work we'll come up with some ideas so I'll try this is my $1 dollar tree saw and this one is just plastic so I really think we can overcome this success so we can push it back here, line it up, push it in, okay, which is perfect, so now it's going to fit nicely into this, look how nice it is.
Havesome liquid nails. there's just a little bit left, I thought I had some of this so I'm hoping there's a little bit there to make it a good permanent solution and that's it for the lamp post part, plus charging our flashlights out of the sun, now these They could look really cute on a dining table or just somewhere in your outdoor decor, but I thought we could highlight this spring and summer vibe a little more, so meet me outside. I'm going to show you what I have in mind and I'm going to even add a little bit more because of the beautiful weather.
I'm starting to fix up my pool area here. It really needs a makeover and I want to do it real soon, so one of my ideas was: I bought this pot at Walmart for about five or six dollars and then I bought this one at Dollar Tree for a dollar and I spray painted it the same black as I painted the light post at the same time and I thought you could take some liquid nails and glue them on to make a kind of urn style, except for a big discount because this is five dollars, this is a dollar, so it worked out like six or seven dollars on this, while you could easily spend it on an urn. this size $30 without batting an eye so that's a huge savings so I thought I'd start by putting a little bit of sand in each of the bottoms it's not a lot but just to add a little weight it will also help with drainage and then I'm going to put some potting soil on top, it looks like brown sugar, so my plan is to put our lamps right in the center of this and to give it a little extra support, I had these little plugs left over.
It's just to prevent it from falling, I'm not actually going to place it, I'm just going to stick it in the center so that the lamp doesn't want to move and collapse so to give it a spring touch I have some vegetation and some violets. I think they're technically called violas, but I've called them violets my whole life because they were my grandmother Ruth's favorite flower because her middle name was violet, etc. These totally remind me of my grandmother Ruth. I've talked about her on this channel before and she obviously had a huge impact on my life, so I'll plant them here.
It will be a little tight, but I think it's okay. and we'll just put them in a Nestle. You could actually take this out, plant them towards the edge and then put them back there, but then it'll give it that kind of spring and summer feel that we're going to use for now. I picked this up at Walmart for I think it was $2.50 and the violets were $1.12, very affordable, so we planted this around the border and it looks so pretty. I love it. Now we will take our light poles and move them very carefully. vines out of the way and flowers out of the way, put this in its place, okay, I'm going to water them even though I work at a plural store that had a nursery for a couple of years during college, I tend to kill things in pots so if everyone would take a second to say a prayer that I don't kill you amen I would appreciate it so just for the solar powered street light I ended up spending about $30 a piece adding the potted urns. and the flowers were about another $15 each, but for the impact this gives, I think it's a good deal.
I am totally in love with these slightly obsessed and am looking forward to renovating my patio and pool deck in the future. These lovely ladies are months away, so what are you thinking of this episode so far? Stay with me. I have many more designs on the way. I have this heavy canvas pillowcase that we are going to modify. I've had this for a while but I also found some cheap ones that you can also use on Amazon and I'll put the link for that below and it has a zipper, it's a little bit lighter than this one so I may try to find a sturdier alternative. on Amazon too, so you have as an option, you can make a pillowcase with canvas or drop cloth and that would also work great and what we're going to do is start by folding it. in half so we can find the center.
This is a little trick that I always use to find the center and then we'll take a pin and pin it just to mark that we're not actually going to leave the pins down. It's just so we know where our Center is and Ike marks both the top and the bottom. Now we're going to take some painter's tape because we're actually going to paint some stripes on this pillow and we're going to line it up and try to find the center of the painter's tape with the center of the pillow and tape from top to bottom and it's You may want to do the back as well.
I will, but it's not necessary, that's optional for you, but I. I think the idea of the stripe going all the way around makes sense, so we're going to tape it shut, so I'm going to use some chalk paint to paint on this pillow and I'm debating between Waverly celery and Waverly moss . of them are very beautiful, muted green, a little bit lighter and one is a little bit darker and ultimately I think I'm going to go with the moss so it's a little bit higher contrast. I don't know, I really like celery, so we'll see what happens in the end, but I think I'm going to go with moss, but you can choose any color that matches your decor.
I thought about doing it as a navy blue. I thought about doing several other colors. I think green often. It acts as a neutral so it can be used in many different types of decor, which is why I selected green, so I hope you can follow me in this process. I start by taking regular blue painter's tape and making a stripe to the right. Down the center of the cover, making sure to go both ways, then I take some washi tape and tape to each side of the center blue painter's tape and then make a second strip of washi tape right next to the first, unfortunately.
The washi tape didn't really want to stick to my canvas pillowcase, but that's what I had on hand and I knew I could still make it work. I just need to be a little more careful and while we're talking about the pillowcase I should have ironed it beforehand, that was a mistake on my part but it still ended up working out fine in the end but I probably should have ironed it now that we have the ribbon on each side from the original blue painter's tape. In the center we can remove the center piece and move it to the outside of the washi tape.
I hope this makes sense if you look at what I'm doing. I hope that helps you in what we're trying to do here. This is creating a French stripe, then we remove the second stripe that is right next to where we just placed the painter's tape, then we can take that piece and move it to the opposite side and repeat the process until we have a wide stripe on the center. and two smaller stripes on each side, then try to push the tape down as firmly as possible onto the fabric. My washi tape didn't really want to stick so I had to be strategic about how I painted it, but now.
It's time to paint and I ended up choosing the Waverly Moss chalk paint color. I started by painting down or away from the edges of the painter's tape, not towards it, once you have painted one side you will let it dry. and then I turn it over and repeat the process and in between this I simply take the aluminum foil that I had the paint on and wrap it around my brush to keep it wet for the short time it took to dry, this worked well for me once time. it's dry and you can remove the painter's tape and you'll be done with this as it dries we're going to work on the next layer of this pillow so I wanted to create a layered look so I'm going to do the next layer. with an iron-on vinyl sticker with my Cricut machine, if you don't have a Cricut machine, don't worry, I've got you covered in the next step.
I'll let you know how we'll get through this step for you. I just like the idea of layering it and I think vinyl will be a little easier for me in the long run, so I went into the Cricut design studio and designed my lettering and it says Happy Easter in French and then another saying in French: "I I don't know what it means, but it's an Easter saying and if you know how to speak French, I hope you can interpret it for the rest of us, but I can't even pronounce it... I won't even try.
We're just going to go ahead and cut it in me. Cricut explore air 2. And I'm just using gray vinyl. If you have a Cricut machine, I'll provide you with a link to the file that's ready in the description box below and you can click on that and just go ahead and hit make. don't have to redo anything once you have the vinyl cut go ahead and delete it I don't know why but I really love doing this if you don't have a vinyl cutting machine this is how you're going to do the lettering. I provided a printable here that you can just print out and then I would take a piece of graphite paper like this and put it behind it and then you would put it on your pillow and then trace it and then the image will be on your pillow in pencil format and then you would take a. gray paint pen or even just a little bit of craft paint and I would hand paint it on your pillow and just add the layers that So you can definitely get this look without having a vinyl cutter, here's how you're going to do it.
Now we need a cute Easter bunny to complete the look and I bought these boutique transfer sheets from Jolee. Comes with some for lightweight fabrics. and some for dark fabric, since we're using canvas, I've decided to go with the light fabric one and all you're going to do is have a free printable and I'll put the link for it and the printable. in the description box below and I have this cute little guy...isn't he so cute? Anyway, you're just going to print this on the transfer paper, then you'll want to cut out your bunny and once you're done cutting it out in as much detail as possible, now it's time to add the fun stuff, but I've learned a couple things.
I think if I were to do this again I would have opted for a lighter. I like this one, but I think the lighter would have worked a little better. Now we are going to put together our vinyl and our printable bunny, this is where it gets really exciting. Well, we now have our vinyl. We have to wait a few more seconds for our easy press to finish heating up. If you don't have an easy press, you can easily use it. hot iron and it looks like our easy press is ready to go so what we're going to do is heat our surface for 15 seconds before we apply it so we're just going to press down 15 seconds to do I'm sure your paint is really dry in this point.
I think everything will be fine, so 15 seconds have passed. Let's take our iron and align it. To be honest with you, I'm just eyeballing it, so this is good. and hot, you can see the steam coming out of it. I don't know if that's good or not, so after heating it up, you'll press it at 340 degrees for 40 seconds to allow it to cool mostly, but not completely before. After removing the transparent protective layer, we will remove the back of the bunny, being very careful not to stretch it at the edges, then we will cover it all so it doesn't stick to anything. sure it's probably fine and then we're going to repeat the same process we did for the letters.
I'm so happy with how our cute little Easter Bunny pillow turned out. We're going to make a pink peony wreath and I'm making this. peony wreath based on my love for peonies and some people corrected me and said they are peonies so I think it depends on where you live or where you are from so some may say peony and some may say peony whether say peony or peony, so these tutorials for you last spring I made a pink peony arrangement, you can see it back here although I added some additional flowers since then, it was one of my favorite

projects

last year and you guys enjoyed it. also so I thought for this spring we would do a pink peony wreath and as you can see I have quite a variety and I'm going to go over this in just a second.
This is just a vine wreath that I had on hand another wreath that I just took apart and am going to reuse. You can get them for about 3 or 4 dollars. You can find them practically anywhere. What I wanted to do is have sort of a variety of colors and sizes within the range of pink peonies. I found this Pink Peony Bush at Michaels and it was 50% off and I think that made the bunch about six dollars or thereabouts and it's this really light pastel pink that's really beautiful, but I wanted a little hint of bubblegum and hot pink, so I also bought them at Walmart.
Something fell somewhere in my life story, so back to what I was saying, I found these hot pink bubblegum peonies and I thought they were really pretty at Walmart and the stem is $3 and you get the big one with one more small on the stem and I thought I could bring out a nice dimension by using different colors and then also at Michaels I bought this little cluster now this one is a little more expensive so this would be optional for you and it's $14.99. I got it for 50% off so it was $7.50 for this small group, but I liked that this group was smaller and that will add a little size. variation within our wreath that I think will look really interesting and it was in the middle of these two, soit's definitely not as light as this one, but more in that true bubblegum pink and we'll probably use some of the leaves on the stems for the peonies as well, but I also bought this variegated stem at Michaels and thought it really had a spring feel to it.
I love variegated greenery and thought it would be a nice touch on our wreath, let's get started if you haven't discovered Surebonder glue guns yet. I highly recommend them, they are so amazing they are cordless so they are easy to work with and then I also combine them with Gorrilla hot glue which is amazing and works great. They are not sponsoring this post, but I put an affiliate link in the description box below. If you're interested in learning more about them, I used the mini size, but I also have the standard size, so depending on the size of your project, you can do that. adjust accordingly so we start by placing our peonies in the wreath for the most part.
I try to use a couple of inches of the wire stem that way I can push it down into the vine wreath and put a little hot glue on it. each stem so they stay in place if you are doing this outdoors you really want to do this step if you are doing it indoors it is not necessary because it will not move if you do it When doing it outdoors you are opening and closing the door and want it to be glued in place to give it more interest. I try to mix up the sizes, the colors and the direction that I place the peonies so some I will place it in one direction and then I will place it at a different angle going another direction and this will just give it more interest and we also want to extend some of those colors, so if we have some of the hot pink ones, you want to place them in different places and spread them all over the wreath.
This is pretty much the same with the green too, since we got two different types of peonies, there were two colors of peony leaves, so we tried to break those up and of course we also added our variegated greenery, which made me love what it brings to this. wreath when all was said and done it had a couple of holes so I had to make a quick trip to Michael's house and they were out of single stem peonies and I guess it was because they were having a buy one get two free sale. which is amazing, but I found some pink cabbage roses that look practically identical to the peonies, so I bought them and added them and you really can't tell the difference at all when it's all said and done.
I am totally obsessed with this wreath I can't stop looking at it, it screams spring to me and I really want to have it as part of my spring decor now that we have a beautiful pink peony wreath. I thought it would be fun to make a wreath now. I could put my wreath on my front door. I haven't decided yet, but I wanted to have the option to display some wreaths inside. Sometimes you just want to store your wreath inside where you can admire it all day and this can be one of those times because I really like how our wreath turned out so I decided I needed a stand to display my wreath and we are going to do this very economical and I will use things I had on hand from other projects and then I bought a couple of things very cheap.
I was first able to find this shaft and it's an outdoor shaft for an outdoor deck and sometimes they can be pretty rough but it's really not rough at all so this is a buck 98 and I bought it at Lowe's it's too long, so we're going to cut it now. I'm going to use my miter saw just because it's faster, makes a nice cut, and I have it on hand, but before I buy it. my power saw I used to do everything with a miter box similar to this one, so if you don't have a miter saw you can pick one of these up.
I'll provide a link below in my description box but I got this from Amazon for $12 it's very useful especially for things like this you'll be giving your arm a bit of a workout but you can't go wrong as it can perform a lot of these types of things. projects at a very economical price, so let's build our stand. On cue, my safety glasses disappeared, but we still need to protect our eyes, so I look stylish in my sunglasses and this will do the job. We have our axle that cost a dollar ninety-eight, a bargain and me.
I got my hook, which wasn't a great deal at $2.98. I felt like it could have been better, but when you need something, you need something, so I spent the two dollars and ninety-eight cents, but look around, you can probably find a better one. better deal on your hook than that so we're going to place it right at the base here and then I'm going to make a mark right at the top here and that's where we're going to cut and you can see that made a really good cut, we're going to hold on to this because you never know what you're going to need it for and then we're going to cut three inches from the bottom to get the right size.
Now we want to build a base. So this is going to be the bottom and then I have a variety of pieces of wood that we're going to use to assemble this. This is why I stick with scraps this size because you can use For small things like this, my original plan was to use a Dollar Tree sign I had on hand, but I decided it was going to be a little tricky to deal with, especially when we were going to paint. I thought so. It would possibly come off a little bit easier and it didn't, and I just don't want to waste my time on it, especially since I remembered I had this piece of wood, so I'm going to go ahead and use this.
Instead, I think we can get the exact same look without having to alter it and with the added benefit of it being much heavier. You can see I've actually marked where all the centers are and everything we're going to do. is to take our drill and pre-drill to make sure it's all lined up because this is going to be the bottom and I don't want it to wobble. I'm just going to take my countersink bit and countersink this so that way the head of the screw will go in all the way and then it won't wobble with my pyramid shaped wood pieces and pre-drilled holes.
I take a three inch screw, screw it all the way through all the pieces and drive it straight in. On the bottom of the shaft for added support, I put a couple of finishing nails, but you don't really have to do this part, just make sure the screw is tight. I originally do the same process for the top pieces, but this time only using two smaller pieces because I originally planned to use some leftover finial from a broken curtain rod and was going to glue it on top with some e6000, but then I decided it was too big and I found the most beautiful rhinestone knob at Hobby Lobby and since the knob already had a screw on it, I put a couple of finishing nails on top and then I took the new knob and screwed it into the original hole and then by Of course, I placed the hook that we will use.
To hang the wreath and finish everything, I taped the knob to protect the rhinestones and sprayed the whole thing with two coats of Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. I'm obsessed with my peony wreath. I'm also obsessed with my DIY wreath stand is so cute I mean a $2.00 spindle and scrap wood so this was a pretty simple project to put together the wreath is beautiful the peonies are beautiful so, what do you think so far? Do you like it? Let me know in the comments section below. the most beautiful pink peony arrangement, it was so pretty and I looked at the price tag and it was three hundred and sixty-nine dollars, you heard that right, three hundred and sixty-nine dollars, it was very expensive and I just know that I would never personally pay that because well I can do it myself and I want to show you how to do it so you can save yourself a little money so what I liked about the arrangement was the beautiful vase inside it had a beautiful glass vase with like a little stem at the bottom and then it had these beautiful pink peonies.
I love peonies. There are some of my favorite flowers. Peonies and hydrangeas are two of my favorite flowers. I love them. I love how they look. They are very romantic, but at $369. It was like we could get that look for less, so I thought it would be a perfect trap, especially with Mother's Day right on the front door. This would be an amazing gift for Mother's Day or even for decorating your own home. Their beautiful pink peonies are amazing. I will put all my supplies in the description box below. Everything I use will be there so you don't have to worry about it.
Now that I had this vase on hand, I was very lucky. I found it at a goodwill store. A couple years ago I paid about $2 for it so it was super cheap and I had it on hand, it was about the right size and had a similar design so for me this is perfect so go to a good will or to your thrift store. You'll find tons and tons of vases in there, it can be hit or miss, then I bought this chandelier at the dollar store and I already made this because I wanted it to be really set up for this video.
I took some e6000 and glued the chandelier. the bottom of the vase and now we have a very similar style vase to the one from Pottery Barn and what I did was I bought two bunches of pink peonies on Amazon and they were $18.99 for both which is a really good price because they were bunches Quite big and the quality of the pink peony was super high, they were really tall and beautiful peonies, but then I knew I needed a little bit of hot pink because if you look at the original inspiration piece, there are a couple of deeper ones. hot pink peonies in that arrangement and what made it nice is that there was a big mix so I went to Michael's and bought these and they were 60% off the sale so they were originally $5 each and this was 60%.
Making them $2 a piece is a really good price. All we're going to do is just a mound arrangement, so I took my wire cutters, pre-cut all the bushes, and shortened all the stems. that we're going to use and we're just going to place them and create a nice mound. Now what you're going to want to do is make sure that you do some variation in height very subtly because what makes a design mound really pretty is when there's a variation in heights, so you just want to make sure that you rotate it and make sure that it looks good on all sides, so we'll just make some adjustments here and if any are too long. then just take it out and cut it a little at a time and that way you don't overdo it.
What I like is that I have some of these tight little buds mixed in with some that are more or less medium sized and others that are completely blown out like you would with a real peony. I'm really excited about this, so you want to disperse all the colors and texture so you can see that there are different heights of the peony as some stick out a little more than others. stuck in a little more than others and that gives it a more natural fun look, so overall I'm very happy with the result... now that we've arranged it how we like it.
What we're going to do is pick this up and put it in another vase or jug or something that can hold the shape while we work on the fake water, okay, so all we're going to do is I'm going to sacrifice this. I bought it at the dollar store. If you have a plastic cup that will also work, then what we will do is use all this amount of water. What you will want to do is mix in equal parts. parts and they say on the package to do it from the side to help with the air bubbles when you do it, pour it this way we want all the contents to be left and it has to be the same, otherwise the curing time will take longer time and it might create more air bubbles, so while we're mixing this for three minutes I was just wondering if there are any other things you'd like me to trick you on, any designer items you'd love to see me make.
If so, let me. You know in the comments section below I'm always looking for ideas of things that I can trick for you, it's time to pour it into our base now, as we pour it into our vase, we want to be very careful to avoid the sides of the vase because if so , we'll stand to the side, so we'll aim for the center. You also want to make sure that it is clean and free of water, dust or anything else, because whatever is there will stay there forever, so we are going to pour our fake water very carefully right in the center, so I already tried this with an epoxy before and it takes a lot of epoxy and it's not as pretty so you really want to follow up with water. kit now we're going to very carefully take our bouquet out of the temporary container and we're going to gently place it and make sure that all the stems are inside the vase and then we're going to very carefully place it back into place now that's a little bit a little bit forgiving so If everything doesn't come back into place, we'll just do a couple of tweaks before it sets because it actually takes about 8 to 10 hours to cure, so we have a little bit of wiggle room, you don't want to move it around too much, you know, just because you can make a mess, but you know, pushing things in or just making small adjustments, that'spretty good, so I'm really excited with how this looks overall.
This is less than thirty-six dollars. I'm really excited about this because every holiday season I think everyone goes online and looks for ideas to see what sounds good to them and what sounds good to them, and I kept seeing a common theme of those. The bunny plates are so cute that I found a couple sets, one from Pottery Barn and one from Williams Sonoma, that I loved...I loved them both, thought they were adorable, and then I looked at the price and said, "Wait!" . ! how much does it cost? and it was like $50 to $60 for a set of four plates and I was like, no, no, no, especially when I need a set of eight to set my table.
I'm going to show you how to do it for less than ten. percent about five dollars for a four plate assembly and soon you will have made them yourself, you will be very proud of them and they will be cute and we are going to do this, so let's get started, this is how we do it. I'm going to do it, I'll give you a general idea and then we'll get started, so I have these clear plates that I bought at Dollar Tree and then I have a set of four royalty free hands. painted bunnies that I printed on my printer, we're going to start by cutting them out and then we're going to decoupage them and then we're going to paint some cool designs... now I don't know if you can see in the background, but this is my version of Pottery Barn and this is my version of Williams Sonoma, they are so cute.
What we're going to want to do first, well, let's get our cute bunnies out of the way for just a second, because what? What we're going to do is take our plates and remove the sticker and then it peeled off pretty well, but there's a little bit of debris, so let's just avoid debris and fingerprints and everything we want. be very clean so I just have a cotton pad and some alcohol and we're going to clean the back which dries very quickly now that our inspiration piece there is a kind of brown band around the edge, very subtle detail that we have I have a Craftsmart paint pen.
I couldn't find the color name. We're going to use this for the edge bands. This is the first thing we need to do is make the borders because we can't blend it. with anything else, so you're just going to go around the edge. I see it has a lip and we're very carefully moving the plate...not the marker and it's okay if it's a little imperfect, but we're trying to get it right. As much as possible we are going to let this dry. It doesn't take long and while we let it dry we are going to cut out our bunnies.
I love these bunnies, they are so cute, stay tuned until the end and I will tell you where you can, where I got these. but honestly, you can go and find whatever bunny you want. I have to be super perfect, so we have ours. I'm so in love now that this is dry, now we can decoupage our bunny...which one should we do? ? This is very important, you need to get a dishwasher safe Mod Podge, if you don't they will not be washable. If you want to wash them, you have to use a dishwasher safe Mod Podge, so make sure you get that.
We're going to put some Mod Podge on the front of our rabbit. I'm not a sticky type, but I don't like globby at all before it dries very carefully because you don't want to tear the already wet paper. bring our plate and we will try to center it or just place it where you want, where you think, so that it touches the bottom and then its face will be shown, so we will start from the bottom and we have to be careful with where it folds just so that it doesn't wrinkle, just work with it and work out any kinks and if a little bit hangs over the edge of the plate, that's okay because we'll trim it later more or more trying to get This will look great, totally adorable, but we'll leave it upside down to dry and then, once it's dry we'll give it an hour or two and put another coat of Mod Podge on the back before we start. applying any paint okay so our Mod Podge has dried look how pretty they are now we need to make a layer on the back so we put it on the front now we'll put it on the back and what are we going to do do.
In this case, I'm just going to go right outside the cutout and make sure the cutout is completely covered and then we're going to let it dry for about an hour more, so this is going to take a little bit of time, but it's going to be so worth it, here It's where it gets all kinds of crazy, all kinds of fun, all kinds of messy, if you have a manicure, it's toast! but you will win after doing this and you will feel good because all the money you saved... okay, I bought this template at Michael's.
It originally cost ten dollars. I used a 40% off coupon, so it was six dollars. I can use it for all of our plates and it's from the Martha Stewart collection and it's an iKat, so we're going to use this to mimic the pattern on the Williams-Sonoma version and it works great, but it's going to be a disaster. I'm not going to lie, so we just put it on the plate and where it bends we're going to have to push it down like this so we can start from the top and then work our way back and then we'll have to fill a couple of holes here and there and let them I'll show how it works, so again we'll use this whisper turquoise as our type of blue.
Hopefully it won't be too intense, but it will be fun, so we'll start here and just wet it, wipe it down a little bit, you don't want to wet it too much because then it will leak and the nice thing about this ikat pattern is that it's already a little messy by nature. , so if it's not perfect. it's okay because it's ikat, you want it to be a little thick and not runny just because you're not going to get a second chance to apply it as a second coat, you can touch up a couple of spots here and there but generally speaking this is your only chance, so we're going to tackle this and there's going to be a couple of empty spots, so we're going to take them at random, so we've got this outside corner thing and some of these. and I'm just going to place it randomly to fill a hole.
My nature of using a stencil is going to get a little messy and there may be a couple of spots that you want to get in and clean, so what you're going to do is dip a Q-tip in some alcohol and very carefully just wipe the pair off. of areas you may need to clean and then we'll let them dry to clean our dirty fingers and come back to finish it. now we need it to highlight so we're just going to paint the whole back white and I'm just going to paint this with some chalk craft paint, but you know you can also take some spray paint and spray it on. and that would work fine, okay, but this is what I have and that's what I'm going to work with.
We need a brush. I'll just use this one. I'll just use a foam brush. But we will only use. this one because they have it available here we go, so if you want to cover the entire back, make sure you cover the paper, just add one more layer of protection on the sheet of paper that we modified Podge on and you'll probably be going. We need to do two at a minimum and possibly three coats to get that really nice bright white. That's it and then we'll let it dry for a couple of hours. We're almost done.
I know this is like a lot of passive time. long drying time, painting the piece itself is too long, but in the end it will be worth it, now that we have our two coats of white and now it's time to seal it because if you want this to be washable, you want to even throw it in the dishwasher. I don't know if I'll actually have two left in the dishwasher, but if you want to throw yours in the dishwasher, you'll definitely want to follow this step to help it last a long time. time, so we're going to take out our dishwasher safe Mod Podge again, we're going to give it two good coats of this on the back and let it dry completely, okay, so it says we need 28 days for it to cure, but if we don't You have 28 days, we're going to try a little trick to see if it worked, but using the ovens I'll see you here and a couple of seconds for you and a couple of hours for me, we'll finish our dishes.
They are so cute, would you love these on your table? I have a couple of them that are stylish but fun! I'm so excited for Easter to come and I love all the things at Pottery Barn, but they are so expensive. You can get the look for less without spending a fortune and people will think you've got it there. My first dupe is at Pottery Barn they have these really adorable mini nest card holders. Now I'm going to do this today and what I got is I found these picks at Michaels. Now in the original version there are three eggs, you'll notice this one only has two, I was fine with that, but if you really want all three, they had all three as an option, it was just a little more money and I thought, well two is fine if This one originally cost four dollars, but in half it was two dollars. and one with three eggs was six dollars or three dollars each, let's start with this one first, all we're going to do is cut the back of this selection that you have on the left with this really cute nest, now we need something to put our card with our name. in our card holder so I bought some jewelry wire and the reason I chose jewelry wires, this is a little bit heavier gauge but has a nicer finish than floral wire, pick up some heavy wire around the house, go ahead and use it.
You can just spray paint it if it's not quite finished, we're just going to trim it down a little bit, so what I'm going to do is start with a pen and I'll get started. curling it, grab the tip of the needle, we're going to keep curling it because we're just going to make a little swirl that we can put the name card in and then we're going to bend it a little bit and then we'll see things work and it looks like about three inches and then we'll just cut it out and we'll be left with this little curly Q and we'll just put a little bit of hot glue on the bottom.
Push it in between the eggs and we'll hold it for a second to let it set and that's it, then once the glue sets we can put the little name card art on it and we've fooled very easily. Pottery Barn version, my next project. I'm really excited about this one, it could probably be the one I'm most excited about. What were these moss covered rabbits they have at Pottery Barn? They're really adorable, but for $80 we can do better. I originally found these two smaller bunnies because they were originally $7.99 at Hobby Lobby for half price or $4 a piece and I was just going to do it but then I found a Ross mama bunny for $8.00 now they are more this size than those at pottery barn's. but I thought even like the smaller ones, you know you can still get the same look and on the back of them they had like a little ivy growing now the ivy was very small and I couldn't find an ivy that was small.
Enough that I really liked it but I found this bush at Hobby Lobby and it was $6.99 for half price so $3.50 for this bush and I think it will work for everyone and that will be enough and I'll start on the babies first. so I'm going to put mom aside for just a second, we're just going to cut this into little sections and all we're going to do is hot glue it on, so this is going to be another really quick project that we're going to have some big savings on. in the Pottery Barn version, they had some greenery on the head and back and the little vantage points, so we'll start by gluing this on the back, a little bit on the ears where you can't see it very well and we'll keep it on. in place for a second and like all of these projects are a little bit of hot glue, a little bit of cutting, very easy, you guys can do this, hold it in place for just a second... so while we wait for the glue to dry, Why don't you tell me what kind of projects you would like to see me do?
We'll keep working on it until we feel it looks good and we'll continue to reference our Pottery Barn example. Well, I'm done with my bunnies. I'm very excited with how they turned out. They are so cute. Big savings. Well the large one would have been about $80 at Pottery Barn and this one was under 10 and now I'm in. I'm going to start with my latest project, which is some bunny shaped burlap napkin rings. This is one they used to have at Pottery Barn like last season, they still think they're cute and they have an updated version on their website right now, that's golden. but for my table I wanted the most natural version so I took some burlap here I had left over from another project and I have some rolls of toilet paper what we are going to do is I am going to measure it to one and a half inches.
I'm going to make marks around it and then we'll connect them so we know where to cut and then I'll take a utility knife here, a sharp one, and I'll cut along the line. ...if it's sharp this shouldn't be too hard and the reason I didn't want to use scissors was because I didn't want to pinch it or create a crease so we cut it down to an inch and a half and then we'll take a piece of burlap approximately two and a half inches by six inches, which I'm going to look at. What you need is a little overhang on each side and enough to wrap the roll we are going to make. just put a little hot glue in the center part of this, about an inchand a half white because we're going to glue on our toilet paper holder piece and we're going to very carefully follow that point and then we're just going to roll it up and then we're done.
To remove it, we'll just put another line of glue and close that seam so it's completely glued, let it set for a second and then we'll put hot glue on the inside edge and then tuck in our raw edges. Okay, so you'd never know this is a toilet paper holder. Now we need to get the ears right, so we have a three inch by eight and a half inch piece of burlap that we are going to make bunny ears out of. So the first thing we're going to do is fold this in half lengthwise, about an inch in the middle, we're going to make a line of glue on the edge here and then we're going to press that. down now I use I've been using these pliers because I don't want to...
I burned my fingers a couple of times so instead of burning my fingers I'm using my pliers to glue it because the glue tightens a little bit, but now that we've included in half lengthwise, we'll fold it in half the other direction and make a nice crease right on that crease, we'll add a little bit of glue to stick it on, so now you can Look, we have some bunny ears, but they're rough like square edges and the bunny ears are pointy, so all we are going to do is cut out just the shape of the bunny ears on the top and that's it! and then you have bunny ears and now we're going to sew it together and I'm going to cover this seam with another drop of hot glue.
Glue this down, you'll have to hold it while it installs, but it's really that easy. and we're going to finish up our little project, all the bunny card holders and these napkin rings, we're going to have the same kind of look, but we're saving a ton of money, there it is, so it's super cute, there's almost no money. Basically in my case it was free but you had to buy some burlap if you didn't need that much and it would be super cheap and we have adorable bunny napkin rings. It really doesn't get any easier than that and we.
You've probably saved hundreds of dollars on these things. You can do this too. I know you can copy all the designers at Pottery Barn Williams-Sonoma and all of those things will be on our Easter table, so let's get started and set our table. Well, before we get too far into this, I'm wondering what you think of my dining room table makeover. I'm very happy with the result, but let me know in the comments section below what you think about the before and after now that you can see everything. If you've seen any of my table setting videos before you'll know that I have sort of a process for how I set the table and it usually starts with a crisp white tablecloth, but this time I wanted to change things up because they have a lot more natural elements that I will bring for Easter, so this time we will start with a linen tablecloth, you know I love using wrapping paper on top.
My tablecloth and the one I selected today was purchased at Dollar Tree and I loved it because it had a natural craft paper look, but it had little flowers that we're in white, but it was very subtle. It's like a nice little textural nod to spring and I love it. Let's make it just enough for my really long table. I also like to add an extra path again. It's always about layering and adding more texture when you're at my table. Thanksgiving poolside tablescape. I'll put the link above. I used a burlap runner and I'm going to use it again.
The one I made was off my tables the longest and here, so I'll make another one to make it look like I had it. barely enough and the end is a little wrinkled so I'm going to iron it real quick and we'll put it back on so one of the really amazing things about table decorations is that like with our burlap runner, sometimes you can reuse it. things you know, I probably won't reuse the wrapping paper because we'll have things that will drip and spill on it, but things like the tablecloth and runners and things that you can reuse, just put them up with different decor and you'll get a totally different look . look okay so for my floral centerpiece this was super easy you can totally do this.
What I did was start with a small plate and a wide mouth glass jar, put it in the center and then filled just a few Easter eggs with speckled Easter eggs. that I bought at Dollar Tree now also came in purples, yellows, and pinks, but I only chose to do the blues, greens, and whites because they already matched my decor, but I love all the pastels and they would look really fantastic. on your table, if that works with your decor as far as flowers, I have some flowers here that are super pretty and I have them in my house all the time and I fold them and I just reuse them and make it work and then I mix them with a lot bunches of white flowers from the Dollar Tree, probably like 7 or 8, and I didn't even cut them off the bushes, I just tucked them in and wove them together a little bit and honestly it's just a mounded flower arrangement, it's super easy to make 7 u 8 bushes and then a couple of pretty flowers I've had are from around the house and bam, you have an amazing centerpiece for Easter.
I don't know if you recognize this tray, but I featured this in my Valentine's Day tutorial, it was filled with little tea lights. I went to Michaels and got some of this grass mat and cut it to fit inside. So the grass mat was normally ten dollars, but Michaels always has like 50% off or 40% off coupons, so I was able to get this for like 6 bucks, it had a 40% off sale and I also bought these other little ones speckled Easter eggs from Michael's, plus they were a three dollar bag, I think I bought them. get two bags or one in the back, I don't remember, but there was three dollars a bag and they're so cute so we're going to put them way down in the front so in my last episode you'll remember I did a pottery dupe.
Barn's, I think I called them bunny ivy topiaries or something, they looked a little different than what I showed you, but I kept looking at them and felt like they were missing something extra, so it turns out I have some of this. greenery on hand, these various things and I decided to add them and it really took it over the top and really added something that I felt was missing. I got a clearance sale so I probably didn't pay more. over a dollar for the greenery and I added it to all of our moss bunnies from the last tutorial, so we're going to put them in now.
I'll notice that on this one I ended up putting it on a little cupcake stand just to give it a little bit of height to balance it with the other side, so we'll just stick them in here. I love these bunnies. They're probably one of my favorite knockoffs just to balance things out on the other side as far as how much weight I have. this little sign in Ross that says hello bunny anyway. I thought it would look really cute on his tablescape, so I just wanted to add a few finishing touches. I have a bunch of these moss covered stone things that I bought at the Dollar Tree and we'll spread them out here and fill it in a little bit and then I also have some of these speckled egg extras so we'll place them strategically.
Well, I saw the most adorable wooden charging plates at Pottery Barn and knew I wasn't going to spend $40 a piece, so I found some wooden looking chargers on dollartree.com and honestly, they really did look good. a little more wooden than they are, I mean you can see the grain, but these are definitely more golden and I was going for more natural, but I think it's going to work and I debated whether to use them or not because I have It's kind of of dual magazine, so I'll show you what I mean in just a second, but let's put it on the table.
You'll notice I'm only setting the table for six. I only have six chairs. I'm looking for the perfect captain's chairs. I haven't found them yet so you'll have to stay tuned because I'm sure it will involve some kind of tutorial for you so stay tuned. Well, I mentioned that I had I debated whether or not to use chargers. I finally decided because I liked the added layers, but I bought these ivy wreaths at Dollar Tree Dollar Piece and they are the perfect size to put a plate on top of and they look just like you. I know a nest and we definitely have a nest going so again I'm going to use both because I like the texture but you can get away with using these so now it's time to prepare our dishes and you'll see me.
Use them over and over again. I'm just using everyday white plates. It works great because we have those decorative bunny shaped damask plates we had. I always find that food looks beautiful on a traditional white plate, so it works great. I love how the white plate is in a little bird's nest, it's so cute, okay, so we have our Williams-Sonoma bunny apricot plates that we made. I'm so excited to finally put them on my Easter table and you'll notice that I actually made them. in two different colors, so this one is more of a steel blue and this one is more turquoise, so I'm going to alternate them every two chairs.
This is turning out as nice as I hoped, now we need to tell people where to sit, so it's time to put out our little place card holders, a copy of Pottery Barn spring is in the air, well, it's time for drinks, okay so in our last tutorial we tricked out some older napkin rings with burlap bunny ears from Pottery Barn, so we're going to place them now that they're so cute and I'm just going to place them right on the edge of the right side of the plate. My Easter table decoration is ready. I'm very excited with how it turned out.
I hope you liked it too. You let me know in the comments section below what your favorite element was and maybe what you didn't like or maybe what you thought was missing. I like hearing all your comments, believe it or not. I also want to see your Easter table. So to do that, you can go to Facebook, my Facebook page designed to the nines and on that Facebook page there is a secret group called "all things home" and you can upload your projects and share them on your table of Easter. successes and I hope to see them.
I'm here outside Trader Joe's today because I'm going to teach you how to make a beautiful bouquet of flowers. You can use it to give it to a friend and give it to someone you love. You could even use it for a wedding, but one thing for sure is that you will be on a

budget

. Looks like I'm here on a good day. They have a great selection. I'll probably do something in pink and blue. and purples and very soft and romantic colors, they have an incredible variety of vegetation that we can use to complete, we are just going to buy here.
Their hydrangeas are only $5.99 per bunch and I can tell you that is a fantastic price, plus their oriental lilies are only $5.99, those are very good prices, which is why I like Trader Joe's. Well, I want to show you what I've decided and honestly, I feel like I'm cheating a little bit by doing this, but I wanted to do it. To show you how easy it can be for you, they had these little mini bunches for $3.99 each that I thought were really cute, so I selected three of them that I felt coordinated well together, then I grabbed some eucalyptus seeds and some Hypericum berries I love using it in many of my arrangements.
I really like the way it looks, you can find it in green, red and white. I also selected a white broth that smells amazing. I love the fragrance. I like the color and I think it will provide some additional interesting texture, so now we're going to go see, go home and I'll put something together, put our own touch on it and even customize it a little bit more to feel. Really, really special, we're back from our Trader Joe's adventure and what do you think of my new shelves that I just built that I was so excited about in the last episode?
I haven't decorated them yet. I threw up a couple things. to get excited for the makeover to come very soon Have you ever had one of those days where you really need something and you can't find it and you look and look and look and look and you can't find it? I'm having one of those days so I couldn't for the life of me find my floral scissors, they always get lost when I need them so I looked for a long time and then I thought forget it so I'm going to use my Easy Action Clippers.
I'll settle for these today and I know that the moment I press stop the record button, they will magically appear. You can identify with that right so that you can take all the bundles. of flowers that you buy and you group them and tie them and make that your bouquet, but since I'm adding the white broth and the seeded eucalyptus, I decided to start from scratch, so I start by taking one of the larger ones. roses and some statice, which is what the purple filling is called, and I group them together and then I add some of our broth and eucalyptus seeds and I'm going to add some of our spray roses with that deep pink color. that's a little variegated, it's really pretty and they also have some really cool decorative greenery in those bouquets, one that was like a cabbage looking type of greenerypurple and a few others that offer a really cool texture, something I think makes the bouquets look designer. is when you have texture and that includes having some flowers that stick out a little more and some that are tucked down a little bit instead of cramming them all into one giant round sphere, the variation is what creates interest and the interest that it generates. feel more designer, the other thing that really has a designer look is grouping small bunches of flowers like these spray roses, while if you want small bunches of flowers, it's good to spread different colors throughout the bouquet, if you find that you have a small hole, just push. a flower and through it I grab the stem from below and gently pull it towards the bottom, then I make small sprigs of seedless eucalyptus throughout the arrangement, but I try to keep the stems as long as I can, especially so that can reach the water.
I'm trying to make it the same length as the little purple spear-like spear called sage. I love sage and I love how they come out of the arrangement and just add a little bit of interest. One of my favorite flowers are hydrangeas and they love them. little green hydrangeas that came in the bouquets, the cluster of lily-like flowers in magenta are actually called alstroemeria and I love the softness they add to this bouquet. You can see there's a little hole, so I just put in a little rose. To fill that hole I also stick my Hypericum berry in, so I try to use floral tape, but this one isn't as sticky as others I've worked with in the past, so in the end I end up just taping our bouquet together to know that it is solid and that it will not fall apart.
They make green duct tape now, but since I don't make it as much as I used to in the past, I don't have the regular one on hand. The duct tape will be fine for this case and then I cover it with the green floral tape so you can't even see the gray duct tape and then I make sure all the stems are cut to the same length, check this out. The bouquet is so pretty! I love this, it screams spring is so romantic. I love it. I like to wrap my stems in tulle, so I always have this six-inch tulle on hand for flowers for floral arrangements, but also for wrapping gifts and making a bow. on it, so I have it on hand all the time so we can do a contrasting bright color like an aquamarine color.
Here we could do something in gold. We can also go the rustic route and make something like burlap and wrapping. the stems in burlap and that could look really pretty, like farmhouse chic, but I think what I'm going to do is make this bright white tulle that picks up the pinks and purples, but it's like classic white, so I think I'm going to use that, so we're going to wrap the stem in that so we can then add a bow and I want to tell you a little secret. I always reach for Christmas ribbon when it's 75 to 90 percent off, so I have a stash of ribbons that I got really cheap, but Dollar Tree also has some fun ribbons like this rose that would go great with our bouquet.
Even I use this one. I like my bouquets to feel really special. I've made a lot of wedding bouquets and I always like to personalize them a little, so sometimes I'll put feathers coming out of your bouquet or something else, but the bouquet has the stems itself. I like to take some as little decorations. I've had some that had the word love in them and that one was very nice. I like that. I've made people's initials hanging as if they were smaller. ribbons and that's very pretty, but I had this idea, so sometimes we have broken jewelry or jewelry that is no longer our style or things like that, a necklace, this one is like a star with rhinestones, one that I thought we could glue on top of the tulle and things like that.
You could make a brooch. This is a broken brooch so it doesn't have a pin so we can just hot glue it on. I think that was actually very kind. of fun before adding my dragonfly embellishment, I add a couple of thinner purple sheer ribbons that I bought from the Dollar Tree and this part is optional but I think it adds a little extra fun to the end that I ended up spending. $25 for this large bouquet again, you could definitely make it about half the size and you don't have to add all the extra flowers, but I really wanted to go above and beyond with this arrangement and it feels like spring in the greatest way possible. way and I adore this bouquet.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this episode. If so, here's another one I think I like too and until next time to all my DIY Niners, goodbye!
