With that said, let's get into the video. Well, as usual, I'm going to talk about the exterior and performance first, so like I said, this is a

I wanted to start this video by saying that there have been no changes to the Outback for the 2024 model year, other than a couple of cosmetic things on the Wilderness, but on the Touring XT nothing has changed, so, as standard, with the Touring XT you get responsive LED headlights with high beam assist and LED daytime running. standard turn signal lights and LED fog lights now taking a step to the left, this is what the front of the Touring XT looks like, so you get a satin black front grille with two gray grille bars on the right and left side of your El Subaru logo, just below the Subaru logo, is where you'll find the 180° forward-view camera, which comes standard on the Touring XD, and then you also get a satin black lower fascia down here, as well as satin black cladding which widens in just below the headlights, here's a closer view of what that looks like on this side too and then last but not least you get a silver front chin and 8.7 inches of ground clearance but As I mentioned, you get that satin black front fascia and that satin.

The black front fascia leads to satin black wheel arch moldings. Here's a look at these wheels and these are the only and standard ones you can get on the Touring XT and they are 18 inches in machine finished gray. Wheels wrapped in 22560 Yokohama Avid GT all-season tires. I'll give you a look at the tread pattern on these tires as best I can, real quick, and then this vehicle also has the option of $198 splash guards that can be found behind all four wheels and tires, and that That thing is there too, as standard with the Touring electrically heated. its blind spot monitoring on the inside of both mirrors and then you also get the memory function so with the Touring , but also memorizes the settings of the exterior mirrors.

Additionally, this vehicle also has the option of $298 auto-dimming outside mirrors with approach lights, so the approach light is essentially a puddle light, uh, and then let's say you know a car is coming up behind you. you at night with their high beams in both side mirrors will automatically dim to take some of the stress off your eyes when driving at night when people aren't paying attention, uh, when they leave the high beams on, but here's a little Side profile photo of the Outback is part SUV and part truck. I would say it's like a mix between the two.

I know when I say it's an SUV a lot of people get upset, but it's actually kind of a mix of an SUV and a truck. but up here you have a mix of satin black and silver for the roof rails and you also have integrated retractable cross bars so I'll show you up here basically all you would have to do is unscrew that and these would be like doing the same thing on that side as well, but yeah, that's what they're for, so basically this would go maybe on the back and then the other one would go here on the front and then you'd have two crossbars, so that's the premise behind that is that then you get satin chrome window trim, you get body-color door handles with that chrome strip, and keyless entry, just keep in mind that the keyless entry feature is only on the front two door handles, the The two rear door handles don't get that. keyless entry feature and then going down a little bit more you get that satin black door trim on the bottom of all the passenger doors and then you get the silver Outback lettering on the two rear doors that only comes back here, it's a rear 3/4 shot of this thing, this is how it looks here from above, here you have your satin black shark fin antenna, but you also have a camera there, which I'll try to get right.

It's not really going very well there, but anyway that camera that's basically there works with your digital rearview mirror and that digital rearview mirror comes standard with the Touring XT. I'll show you more of that as we move forward. the interior, but you also have a body-color roof spoiler on the rear, you have your third brake light integrated here, you have a rear window defroster, a single-speed rear wiper, here's a view of what the taillights look like when they're on and then coming back here's a little pic of the swag, you can see you get the Subaru logo, you get your rearview camera, you get the Chrome badge for the Subaru and all that kind of stuff on that side and then the badge of the Outback and the Touring XT, although one thing is that with the touring pad and the tailgate will open, but let's say you wanted to use the hands-free feature, all you have to do is place your hand right there and the liftgate will open.

You don't want to touch the Subaru logo because it won't work that way. Basically you just want to move your hand. in front of it and it will open, as you can see, here you have this retractable cargo cover, so you can basically lock it in place, let's say you're in a sketchy area, you can pull this and basically when people look in the trunk, They can't see what you have in the trunk by closing it back, right there you have a small hook for shopping bags, another hook on this side also for shopping bags, then you can see that there is a small handle on the door . thing here and here and if you pull that, the second row seats will fall out, as you can see, then you'll get a flat folding storage space, same thing on this side as well.

I'm not going to drop that seat though, but this vehicle has the option of 100 $41 all-weather mats, which are basically rubber mats, which is what's here. I think the cargo tray comes standard, because I didn't see this price on the window sticker, so it's basically a mat for the trunk area and then as standard with the XT touring XT, you get a Harmon Cardon sound system , so you get a speaker back here, then you get a little net and some storage space, a little storage cubby on the passenger side of the trunk you also get a 12 volt outlet on the passenger side of the trunk and if you lift it up over all this stuff under here, pull this up, you'll find your jack and all your tow hooks and all that kind of stuff, but if you keep digging you'll find your spare tire under there, so this comes with a aftermarket is definitely good to see, that's why we're going on here in the trunk area, but if I take a step back, this vehicle has the $168 Rear Bumper Cover option, which is what this part here is , so let's say you load a bunch of stuff here instead of scratching the paint, that's what's here, it's basically for protection, so you're scratching this piece of plastic that's replaceable uh instead of scratching the paint where you would have to repaint so it's a good thing if you know your kids carry things they're not going to scratch the paint uh it's just a nice little thing here and then you also get an LED light here on your hatch and then if you press that button, the liftgate will close and then you also get a lock button, uh, which you can also lock the vehicle on the liftgate, but wrapping things up.

Here at the rear you get a satin black rear bumper, you get four integrated parking sensors, you get that silver trim that complements the front, you also get those two reflectors on the outside of the bumper and last but not least, all. The You have the filler neck, you don't have the cap. filler neck, but its filler neck is on the rear passenger side of the vehicle and that's it for the exterior of the Touring 2.4 L. 4-cylinder boxer generating 260 horsepower and 277 lbs of torque, it is made with a high torque linear CVT tronic from 480 to 60 in 6 seconds and if you were wondering about fuel economy, it can achieve 22 MP per gallon in the city 29 MP per gallon. on the highway for 25 MP gallons combined with standard all-wheel drive.

Different Outback trim levels and Forester trim level, so with the Touring XT you have the option of brown, but now taking a look at the door panel here on the Touring colored decorative, some vinyl wrap. up here and a chrome look door handle, some piano black trim surrounding those two memory seat adjustment settings, this button right here is going to power fold on your side mirrors, these are the controls on your rear view mirror side or your settings, then you have your unlock and your lock works automatically up and down Windows in all four corners, pressing that button will restrict your passenger window privileges, you get a place where you can set your phone, something of storage, a place where you can put a water bottle and as standard you get a Harmon Carden premium sound system now, taking a look at these seats again as standard you get a 12-way power adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar in four directions and a thigh extension so the driver gets a thigh extension and the front passenger doesn't get a thigh extension, but you get an eight-way power front passenger seat and both headrests are adjustable fore and aft with approximately four or five levels of adjustment.

With these headrests, I love that about Subaru, it seems good, at least in the new Empreza. and on the new cross track they removed the adjustable headrest like fore and aft which doesn't make any sense to me but anyway let's turn this on, here's howsounds when you turn this on, um, but you can be You can hear the climate control system is working, so if you want to turn it off, click that button over there, but you have to wait a little bit because the climate controls are all over. the screen and I'll talk about that here in a moment. second, but when you get here, you get an HVAC vent and then down here you have the power lift gate function, this but or this, like the shift knob, here is to brighten or dim the gauge cluster as well as the buttons on the back edge, and this is going to turn your hands-free power lift gate on or off, go down here, turn down to access your manual tilt and telescoping steering wheel, you can move it closer to you, you can move it away from you, and you can push it up and down as you wish.

You can see that the headlights are not on, so the fog lights are not on. All the way down at the bottom, see that little eye in green that's for the driver's focus system, so if you came here, this reads your eyes when you're driving down the road, so let's say I'm driving. On the road and I see a cow over there on the right and I'm paying attention to the cow as I keep driving, let's say I focus on it for 3 seconds, right, it's going to say keep your eyes forward or something like that and it's I'll give you a little auditory beep, uh, letting you know that you have to focus, so, and then if you're playing on your phone, it will flash red and say, pay attention or stay alert or something like that.

So basically she's always monitoring your eyes and letting you know that if you're not paying attention, she does a good job of doing that because you know sometimes you're not paying full attention when you should be, so you've got your uh. things about the status of the stream over and over again to cycle through that screen. You get the Starlink 11.6 infotainment system with built-in navigation and wireless Apple Carplay and wireless Android auto connectivity, but before you get into the screen, you have a couple of physical controls on the outside of the screen, so this is your home button , this is your volume control knob, if you just press it it will mute the audio system, but if you hold it down this will turn it on. the screen turns off, if I hold it again it will cancel that and it won't turn off and then you have the front defogger there, the driver temperature controls trying to catch it on camera, right there, the passenger temperature controls, back there . defroster um this is your tuning knob, but if I press it and hold it, that's going to take me to my base, my treble and my mids, as well as my balance and my face fader, um, so if I click here you can see your balance and your attenuator for your Harmon card and your sound system and then it lets you know if the passenger airbag is on or off there, but scrolling through the screen, this is what you see on the screen, it has its temperature , it has its time, it has all this. different screens up here, so right now this is your mode , I think it's just your nod and then you have your navigation elements and your audio elements, but going down here, this is what the home screen looks like, you can go into Apple CarPlay by clicking on that and then swiping this way you can see your car information so you can see the pitch and roll stuff or you can go to maintenance, you can see all your different maintenance stuff there, um, you can also turn off the screen by pressing that button there, I'm not going to do that, uh, because if I press and hold on that, it will cancel again and then the auto vehicle hold feature, so basically auto vehicle hold is like let's say you're in traffic, it's super tra ke, If you turn that on, the vehicle will hold you in place on its own with its braking. system when that's in a very cool feature so this is to turn the traction control system on or off uh and then you can add a shortcut you have valet mode here you have your settings so you get your general settings your sound. settings your navigation settings you can click and then you will get your phone phone settings radio settings car settings I'm not going to go through all that stuff uh actually I'm going to show you the car settings so these are some of the things on your car that you can go to Throughout all of these settings here, you can pause your screen if you want and read all of that, but I'm not going to go through it because the video will get too long.

Clicking on this will bring up your vehicle control so you can go between all these different things, you can access the driver assistant functions or you can go into some more settings. There, that button will activate or deactivate the auto stop start system and then you will have the start button. This will show your currently paired phones. Elijah and I's phones are connected and then you have your driver profiles, which right now there are no driver profiles set up because no one owns this vehicle yet, so if you want your driver profile on this vehicle. uh I'll let you be the first to set that up so coming here as I mentioned on the Touring XT you get the heated and ventilated seats as standard both have three levels of adjustment boom boom boom uh and then this is always on the screen okay um so these are your climate control things like I said you don't have physical climate controls other than the temperature controls on the front of the list and the rear defroster but if you would like the controls weather took up the entire screen, you would click. right here and boom, they'll take up the entire screen and this is what your climate control system looks like, um, when it's on the entire screen and that's it, for that screen you also get your electronic parking brake, let's say you have your parking brake on, if you wanted to disengage it you would have to push your foot down on the brake, push it against that and the parking brake will disengage and then when you get here you get a USB port, a USB C port and an auxiliary jack . then you can also place your phone there if you want.

I have an iPhone 14 pro Max, but I have to get this keychain out of here before I can put my phone in there so the keychain is off the iPhone 14 pro Max. and you can see that it fits there. Personally, I like the digital rearview mirror because it eliminates your blind spots, so not only do you have blind spot monitoring, but this really helps with blind spots, so I personally like the digital rearview mirror and so on. you get a place. you can put some sunglasses in here, this vehicle has the $17 interior LED light upgrade option which converts all these lights here in the interior to LED, then this is your assistant on the road, here you see this, look where it says off now if I open Now lift the doors the lights won't come on but if I turn this to the left when I open the doors now the interior lights will come on so basically when I open the doors lights they will come on however I turned them to the right.

Right now when I open the door the lights don't come on so that's what those functions do and as standard with the Touring that all you have to do. What you have to do is push up and if you want to close it, push forward and if you want it to slide, pull back and then it will slide. Let's see how far the sunroof will recede. Can I pull it back one more time? further back, yeah, so, that's it for that sunroof, no, you don't get a panoramic sunroof, uh, but yeah, up top, here's a little clip, you can put in any small paper product, when you open it up, two lights of vanity mirrors that are LED, you get a vanity mirror and this visor slides back and forth depending on where the sun is shining. and it goes pretty far back, very, very nice, so the driver has a no-poop handle, the front passenger also has a no-poop handle, uh, and that's really all we're going for here in these front seats, so really like the Outback, you know, I didn't necessarily hate Subaru, but I would never have considered a Subaru um, but after doing probably 10 20 30 40 videos of Subarus, uh, I definitely think I like the Outback better as it is.

It sits, it's very comfortable, very good to drive, it handles the best compared to the Forester, so if you compare the two, it handles better. I like the way it sits better. I like that the ceiling is a little lower on this one. The roof of the Forester seems a little high, so with the Outback you can get the

turbo

engine, whereas in the Forester you can't get the

turbo

engine, uh, and that's a must for me, if I were to buy an Outback, I probably wouldn't. would buy. a Subaru anyway, but if I were to buy one, it would be an Outback with the XT engine.

This loaded model is definitely good, but if I wanted to save a little money, I might consider purchasing the Onyx edition. XT uh, because it's still very nice, maybe it doesn't have all the ventilated seats and the digital mirror and all that kind of stuff, but it's still very nice, but if you want the loaded model, this is the one to get, but I'm going to throw everything away. window label on the screen, you can take a look at whatever you want. I want to highlight a couple of things that you get as standard, you get the Harmon card and the sound system, you get the adaptive cruise control with lane centering, you get the driver focus system, the 180° front view camera You get the digital rearview mirror You get the moonroof You get the heated outboard 2nd row seats You get the heated and ventilated front seats Etc.

Now I'm going to highlight the MSRP so that the MSRP of how This particular 2024 Outback Touring XT has a specification of 45.2. I think it's a very good vehicle for $45,000. It's charged. The only complaint I have with this vehicle is the fact that it does not have a 360 degree view camera system. I made a video with a CRV a couple of weeks ago. I made a video with a fully loaded CRV that doesn't have a 360° view camera system on the top trim level. I think it's a mistake and I think Subaru and Honda, you two, if anyone from either of those manufacturers is watching this video, you both need to get your shit together because every other manufacturer has a 360° view camera system and that's the only thing really holding them both back, Honda and Subaru, uh. for making your vehicle that much better, so the 360 ​​degree view camera system is what I would like to see in the updated Outback whenever that happens, but I want to show you what we have in these back seats before Skip to the driving part of the video, so this is what the tailgate panel looks like again, the windows go up and down automatically.

Here in the back the window goes all the way down you get a well padded armrest that's how fast the window goes up then you get a place you can set up a phone some storage space a place you get a bottle of water you get your speaker this is I'm going to lift this seat up so you can see what it looks like I'm going to push this back a little bit more this is what your seats look like boom very comfortable seats and then one thing I like about these seats is if you come here you'll see this little thing if you stop at that that's going to I give you access to recline these seats or you can move the seat closer, so let me see, basically, this would be its normal position here, but if I wanted to recline it, I lift it up and then I can recline the seats to which is definitely nice, um, and then up here you get an OP panel, a place where you can set dry cleaning, you get three backrest pockets behind both seats, you get two HVAC vents, you get heated outboard seats on the second row, both with two levels of adjustment. you get a USB port, you get a Cort USB port, they have a little outline for the lights so you can plug them in easier at night, then you also get a fold down center armrest with two cup holders, it's very well padded and you also get an LED back light. roof here for second row passengers, as well as the same things on that side with the dry cleaning hook, front panel, etc.

I'm 5'9 and tight behind me. I have plenty of knee and leg room here. another view of that neon legroom and when it comes to headroom, I have plenty of headroom to spare too. I think if I were 63 I would still feel comfortable here in these second row seats, but you know, we've talked about that. On the outside we've talked about performance and now we're talking about what's going on here inside the Touring I see you in the driver's seat right now, in the driving portion of the video, where I go over these speed bumps at 5 miles per hour and then rate them on a scale of 1 to 10, that's the first time today.

I've done pretty well overcoming the obstacles at five, sometimes I like seven, maybe three, but today was decent, maybe I've cursed it, let's see, let's see if I can get five again. Okay, look, I messed up. I'm going to give this. An 8.2 on a scale of 1 to 10, he did very well overcoming those speed obstacles. Let's test the handling, so you have to make a good maneuver. That's what I like about the Outback compared to the Forester, is that the Outback handles better. and that's because it looks like it has a lower center of gravity, although I think they have about the same ground clearance, the reason I'm talking about center of gravity is because the old one has a very high roofline. whereas the roofline of the Outback is slim and sleek and it's lower, and that's one of the reasons I like the Outback better, you know, I think it looks better but it also drives better, in my opinion I know they drive similarly, but I personally like the way the Outback drives better, so there's a nice little acceleration here with the XT engine.

I mean, it has a lot of acceleration capability. It's pretty fast. I mean, 6 seconds here at 60 is pretty respectable. I know it's not the fastest. thing in the world um, but I think people who are buying one of these don't really care that much about speed that way, they do want something that's fast and they want something that's easy to maneuver and just you know, run around. of people in traffic and this thing has the power to dart around people in traffic if that's what you want to do. One thing I like about the Touring I know it's a very small thing and I know it shouldn't matter, but it really adds to the quality of a vehicle, it doesn't matter. if it's this if it's a Honda if it's a Toyota you're actually always touching the steering wheel correctly so you want a good point of contact and the uh touring XT has a very nice feel to the steering wheel, it's very soft, the leather feels very good in your hands um and I definitely appreciate the leather wrapped steering wheel on the touring Yes they are also very comfortable.

in comfort and I don't understand why Subaru removed the adjustable headrest on the Cross Trek and the Impreza, it doesn't make sense to me. I think it was a big mistake because the older Cross Trek. Imprezas had adjustable headrests like this one. Outback does, so adjustable headrests make a big

difference

when it comes to the comfort of a vehicle because you can adjust the headrests forward and you can rest your neck on them on a long road trip while still having the opp position. optimal neck for driving, so I definitely like that.

I apologize if I sound a little unpleasant. My nose is a little bit clogged and then I also liked that in my last video my throat was really itchy. I'm coming off a bit of a cold. I know it's a cold, it's nothing more, um, but uh, I just wanted to let it be known, but listen to how this sounds sailing at about 55, let's go over some Bridge articulations, it's windy, it's pretty cool. isolated from the outside world and it seems like compared to some of the lower trim levels this could totally be Placebo just letting you know but it seems like it's better isolated than some of the lower trim levels and again that it could be Placebo, but that's how I feel, it sounds a little calmer and again, I could be totally wrong with that, but that's something I've personally observed now, a couple of things I wanted to say because I really like them. mentioned as the digital rearview mirror, it gets you out of your blind spots, it takes a little getting used to but I personally like it now, this is what it shows you, it's counting how much time on this trip the auto start/stop system has . been off and how much fuel SA has saved uh with the auto stop start system there for me personally, if this was my vehicle, I click this button every time I go into this because I don't like the auto stop start.

I don't care if it saves me half a gallon of fuel over the course of a year. I don't care, I don't want it, so I'm not a fan of the Auto Stop starting system and I know there are a lot of them. There are plenty of people who feel exactly the same as me, so that's the button you'll want to click every time you get into this vehicle. If you don't like the auto-stop start system, I'll show you the button again. this one here when it's green it's on when it's not green it's not on uh and I would never want it to be on so anyway here's a little bit of acceleration normal acceleration go up a little bit now very very good acceleration and I'll be flat here in a minute, but I just wanted to do a couple ofregular accelerations because as you know, I know a lot of you are not going to be stomping this thing all over the place and you want to see what it's like when you drive it and you're not stomping the ground, you're just doing normal accelerations now if you wanted to pass someone.

I'll try to see if I can get him a little pass test like 50-70 or 45-65 or something like that. that, but as of now you can see there's a little bit of traffic, so I don't want to do that, but I'll see if I can't do it. You see, it has that power. that power you want, you know what I mean, you can just zoom around someone, no problem. I think the MDX actually flashed that guy on the A6 to get out of the lane, which is kind of funny because I'm not driving that. It's already fast, but I definitely have passing power, very, very good passing power, um, so if you're looking for a premium package, you're like, I don't know if it has the power that I'm looking for, get the XT and I'm telling you that. it has enough power uh and you will be pleasantly surprised how quick the XT engine feels compared to the non Line 2007 and it's slow as molasses, but it's paid for so I can soak it up a little bit, you know what I'm saying, so, this thing gets me decent fuel economy.

Get into the sound system a little bit because the Cardon sound system sounds very good compared to, well, it sounds very good, but compared to the standard sound system, the standard sound system is not good, it is not good, and I would definitely recommend the Harmon Cardon. sound system for anyone who likes a good sound system, the Harmon Cardon sounds great so I'm going to do another little speed up here for you guys. I'm going to make a flat with this one, look what I'm saying, it's very, very good. get up and you'd be surprised, uh, you know, if you didn't know a lot about Subaru and you think maybe Subaru is a little slow and you get behind the wheel of one of these things and you step on it.

I actually made a video about this before. I literally made a short on YouTube of me doing a 0-60 test on the Touring This thing is actually really fast and some people were like, Oh, it's slow, you don't know what you're talking about, you've never driven anything fast, which I've driven a lot of fast vehicles, many, many fast vehicles right now, uh, and this thing. . it's fast it's fast it's not fast it's pretty fast so get behind the wheel of one of these things try one for yourself and you'll see that it's very, very fast but again, just to summarize, it's comfortable, it's got all the features you could want , the only drawback I have for this vehicle is that it does not have a 360 degree view camera system, it needs a 360 degree view camera system and that would just be the icing on the cake, but the Honda CRV does not have a 360° view camera system on its top trim level, so it is what it is.
