Jun 09, 2021
Well, I said this once and I'm forced to say it again, but this is still the best interior for under seventy grand. Well, welcome back to the exhaust sports car. My name is Kevin and you're

here

to witness the

genesis

of the

2021

g80 sedan and you better witness it and you better take some notes because that's how a proper midsize luxury sedan is produced. We'll talk more about that in a moment, but yes, I've been very curious to test drive this vehicle since I test drove the. gv80 for you guys so check out that

review

after this one of course and I really liked that suv I mean like I mentioned in that

review

even if you're not a car expert or don't know much about vehicles.

You know you're not a car reviewer, you're not a race car driver, whatever it is, almost anyone can get into one of these vehicles and understand the minute details required to produce something like this. It will launch

here

without problems and without problems there again. We'll cover that in a moment, but first of all let's talk about this exterior because yes, Genesis has mastered the art of refinement and tranquility, but there is another thing that Genesis also mastered and that is the art of dancing and

prestige

because, as I mentioned with The gv80 guy, everyone keeps staring to point to take pictures of this vehicle right here, this gray sedan looks awesome and I didn't really mention this in my gv80 review, but these new

genesis

models, you can split this between the that I like. of the rolls-royce bentley astons and you know what this would go well with, no one is going to make fun of that, not even people on the internet make fun of these vehicles, but I'm just saying that this has that aura and that gravity that allows to combine with the high-end vehicles that you already know that I just mentioned.

More Interesting Facts About,

2021 genesis g80 2 5t awd prestige review class president is here...

You can't do that with an Audi and a BMW. Something about its design is a little more plebeian, so to speak. Seriously, I mean dude, the way people are gawking at this vehicle, it's crazy the amount of tension I have on this g80 and the gv80 suvs, it's really crazy, people are so gravitated towards the design of these cars and I don't blame them because it looks like

prestige

it looks like luxury it looks like a cathedral on four wheels well made and it also looks unique it doesn't look like a copy of any other vehicle it's a well made well polished vehicle it looks grown up and uh You know, we're driving the prestigious fully loaded two and a half liter all-wheel drive model.

Well, you know, even if you just purchased the advanced trim level, you'll be able to choose between 19-inch wheels. and the 19 on this vehicle are very interesting, let me know in the comments section if you like them or not. I don't know, they're interesting, they sure don't look like anything else, but let me know in the comments section, let's move on, let's talk about this ride now. Is it okay to join this small road? Here you know, obviously, the chassis controls this excellent. I've also said this about the SUV. Such a well made chassis. This is not a sports sedan, but it is a very well calibrated body that this vehicle has, yes, you know, you really put your foot in this thing, it will absolutely reach the speeds that you needed for this two and a half liter turbocharged four-cylinder, it is Well, this thing makes 300 horsepower. approximately 311 pound-feet of torque, you would be surprised how well this engine propels this approximately 4,300-pound vehicle to speeds.

Actually, it's very good. You know, I was very curious to try this four-cylinder and I'm very glad I finally did. I had the opportunity because when I drove the gv80 it had the twin-turbo V6 and of course a great engine, great thrust. You know the engine produces 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. You have to put premium fuel in these vehicles, but you know. at highway speeds, man this car is very quiet, well, road noise, tire noise, wind noise, everything is so quiet here, that's how a luxury vehicle is made, man, high speed stability Speed is great for this generation of vehicles, right, they actually reduced the curb. weight of this car by using a little bit more aluminum, they managed to reduce the weight of this vehicle by about 236 pounds, something like 230 240 pounds.
I forget the exact figure, but I guess we're comparing it to an equivalent model of the previous generation G80, which is a vehicle I previously owned and I really loved that car. I spoke highly of the previous generation g80. I had the base model 2018. uh the g80 I really loved that car but actually the curb weight of these vehicles was never really something I complained about and I still have a lot of people gawking at me, you know what I'm saying, The older gentleman really liked the uh girl 350z, but anyway, yeah, curb weight is really something I never complain about in a luxury vehicle. because that's what gives cars a nice feeling of being planted on the road, you know, a heavy car on sidewalks really just digs into the road, where it gives it a nice feeling of solidity and you feel it, you feel it.
You know, as soon as you arrive. In the car, you close the door, it feels solid, I really love it, but another thing is that they use aluminum in the right places, like in the suspension, you know those kinds of areas, but the body is still steel and obviously, You know Hyundai, eh, gender. They own their own steel factory, they essentially produce their own steel, it's common knowledge, but I also praise it with Mercedes because they also use a steel unibody chassis very similar to the Genesis and this is what allows the Genesis to be a vehicle. so safe, that's why they keep winning these awards, it's no nonsense that they actually win these awards because they have a nice solid steel unibody chassis and this is an important thing you know if you take your family here, kids, other important people you know what do you want. to make sure that you are in a safe vehicle and this vehicle continues to give you that feeling both in driving and also just crash test, ride quality right, needless to say it drives wonderfully over the The little bumps, the big ones Bumps don't even matter, it has a multi-link suspension front and rear, of course, like the sharpest bumps, I mean, you'll hear it but you'll never feel it and that's just a very high quality trade-off.
With this car, no one is going to have problems with the handling, that's for sure. Also, another thing that you know is the silence of this vehicle. Much of that has to do with the aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.27 of this vehicle, which is very good, of course, but You know, what is this four-cylinder like? Is this an appropriate engine option for a vehicle of this size and caliber? You know it's about 196 inches long, obviously it's a mid-size sedan, so here's the problem with this offline motor, there's a lag, okay? I have the same feeling with the gv80 with the twin turbo v6 but yeah that's the only real complaint I have with this four cylinder and I guess these engines in general other than that have effortless thrust but here's the problem with The four cylinder never works. to be as smooth as the v6 or v8 offerings and of course there is no longer a v8 offering with the g80 because the previous generation g80 obviously came with a 5 liter v8 with all wheel drive as an option which is no longer the twin turbo v6. replace it, okay, but this four-cylinder is actually very smooth, so that's one of the main reasons why I want to test this four-cylinder for you and it's smooth until you start winding it up, really stick your foot in there. and rev it up to its redline basically and that's when you notice the chattier nature of the four-cylinder four, that's okay because honestly, I've been driving this car basically at half throttle and it's been extremely Satisfying with the mid throttle thrust, It's still smooth too, but I never find myself needing to push this car to the redline, it's just not necessary and that's the only place I'll give Audi any credit.
You know, they continue to have the softest one. four-cylinder turbos even at redline, basically, it's impressive in that sense, but again, you don't have to drive these cars with your feet on the floor like that because they have such good thrust from these turbo engines that you just go in with ease in the When accelerating, you drive it properly, it gives you a very nice quality feeling, so I personally don't mind buying the four cylinder car, I don't really care, and the gv80 is fine, like a four cylinder with advanced version versus a six-cylinder with advanced version. about five thousand dollars difference, same here actually, but around 60 thousand dollars for a gv80 with the advanced four cylinder model around 65 thousand dollars for a twin turbo v6.
Obviously I would like to have the twin turbo v6 and the gv80 because it weighs between 5000 and 5100 pounds with options and all wheel drive here this particular car weighs about 4,300 pounds with all wheel drive it is a fully loaded four cylinder model but actually In the base trim level, this thing weighs about 3,900 pounds actually with the rear wheel. 4 cylinder drive, which is impressive at full load. The maximum curb weight of these G80 products is now about 4500 pounds, so again not bad, it used to be like 4700 pounds with a V8 in the previous G80, so with my calculations I think a four. -The version of this cylinder with the advanced finish costs around 55,000 around 60,000 if I want to get the twin turbo v6 I can go in any direction I really don't care this engine reaches around 22 in the city 30 on the highway with the AWD and I think a twin turbo V6 is like 18 city 26 on the highway, not bad, but you know, this is a little better, a little more fuel efficient, the fuel tank is also a little smaller in this sense. 17 gallons versus 19 gallons that you get in the six cylinder models, but now this is a very well made vehicle, it's a complete package, it's a very well executed isolated driving experience, quiet, obviously it has the double ping glass, so Of course, stability is a good steering response.
It's great again. I still drive this car in my custom mode, where I put the transmission in smart mode and put everything else in sport mode, like all-wheel drive response and steering response, and drive with traction. stability control off just so the electronics don't intervene as much so you can have a little less line lag, it helps a little bit, but it's still there, but you know, for the most part, this eight-speed transmission I've done it. tuned extremely well. I mentioned this is my review of the gv80, but I initially thought they put the ZF eight-speed in here.
He reacts that fast. Once you pick it up and move it, like you can really play with the paddles once you have it. sport mode, but yeah, I keep mentioning this. You know, if you're in the luxury car market and you're not considering this vehicle you either haven't researched it or you don't even know what it is. You're doing yourself a disservice, I mean those other cars. I'll be honest with you, a lot of those semi-entry level euro cards you're looking into aren't as good as you might think, if you must know. What a well calibrated luxury car it is this is a place where you would like to start looking because it is such an impressive car in every aspect, you know it is not a sports sedan but it gives you confidence the way the chassis is set up, it turns into corners, it feels natural and right, and again, as I mentioned, the steel body, the doors, the way they feel when you close them when you just put this thing on the road where you just have it rolling.
Going down to 45 miles per hour, whether at city or highway speeds, it doesn't matter, it always has a quality feel to it that I really appreciate, so something to note in some ways it's even superior to some of those European cars that You're looking because this is the problem with some of the European cars I drove like a 2020 BMW 740i. I get it, it's not like a fully loaded model or the sportiest model or anything like that, but it didn't feel like a six. It doesn't look like a vehicle to me at all, it's a flagship product, I don't care if it has a six cylinder engine, I mean it just didn't look like a car to me with a starting price of 85,000, so this vehicle when you walk in When you look at it , look at it from the outside, the way other people respond to it, the way people respond to the inside, I mean, this feels more like a six-figure object to drive and it's that impressive actually, and that is the The key takeaway here is that you know it could cost 55-60,000 67,000 when you really go all out, but even at that price, man, this has the behavior of a card that literally costs twice as much, over a hundred thousand dollars, and it's evidence. the way people look at you, you can be a high level official in this, I guarantee no one will make fun of it, it has the design language, it has the prestige, now I feel like you know thattypes of disadvantages that I know with this car, you know, like the usability of the technology, most people I feel like they want it to be like that, that's why Genesis went this route, you know they want to have. all the technology, all the menus, all the functions to play with, you know, and this four-cylinder has great thrust, it's a good engine, in fact, I don't need to delete this in its entirety, it's just not necessary, so it's a good car to drive.
You know, let me know what you think if you tried the g80 or gv80, let me know if you like it, leave your thoughts below, thanks again for watching, take care and bye.
