review

ing it in the past, xdrive45e will be the plug-in version, The m50i if you want a little more power and the which will also save you some money, so in this video I'm going to test everything about it, going over everything about it, testing acceleration, braking, steering, flow, ride quality, sound. system exhaust clip and everything else, so what do you guys say?

Let's go ahead and jump right into it and as always let's start with the pricing when it comes to the msrp for the x5

xdrive40i

which will come in at 61700 and of course. There are actually plenty of options available for this to bump the price up quite a bit if you so desire, but the power plant will come from a twin-boosted three-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine making 335 horsepower, 5,500 rpm and 331 lbs. ft. of torque available at 1500 rpm, power sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters that you know we'll test in a moment here.

More Interesting Facts About,

2021 bmw x5 xdrive40i review nearly perfect...

The 0-60 time is approximately 5.3 seconds according to BMW. However, the engine trend clocked it in at five seconds, which is pretty impressive for an SUV overall, honestly, and the mpg figures will hit 21 city, 26 highway on premium unleaded fuel, but before we do that , any type of acceleration or paddle shift testing on the x5 didn't want to mention that of course there are some drive modes, those drive mode buttons are located directly behind the shifter and will include eco pro comfort sport and adaptive settings like shift points throttle response steering sensitivity suspension settings and seats too, for example if I put it in that sport driving mode the side bolsters will hug me in place a little better, a little of comfort when flying through the corners in that However, there is sporty driving, but still, having mentioned all that, what do you say?
2021 bmw x5 xdrive40i review nearly perfect
Let's go ahead and find a straight line. I think the paddle shifters will work fine, but I just want to see how quickly these paddle shifters will react. us in our new

2021

bmw changes and Having said that, let's get right here, let me get ready and second gear, first gear and in three, two, one, oh my God, instantaneous, incredibly tantalizing, every time I swear that every BMW I test drive the paddle shifters, it's amazing. They're like fast super cars even though we're in an SUV, that was amazing. I love these paddle shifters. They are some of the best paddle shifters out there right now.

Without a doubt, they never completely fail to amaze me, so I love them. Give the x5 full control over shifting, simply slide the gear lever to the right and then the x5 will have full control once again. What do you guys say? Let's find another one right away and see how fast we can get this new 2021 bmw x5 here. up to speed, okay, so acceleration in three, two, one from a standstill and sport mode, I almost forgot, here we go, we have to start it, wow, you can feel it in your stomach, man, this is some incredible acceleration, let's see, this is the reason.
I mentioned at the beginning of this video that they don't need a more powerful engine than the turbocharged inline-six we have here in the xdrive40i. I tell you there was no slippage, you can feel it in your gut. your head on the back of the seat acceleration the paddle shifters the driving dynamics are absolutely incredible in this x5 we have today but anyway following that acceleration as always braking is equally important so as you would expect You'll find four-wheel ventilated disc brakes When it comes to that 60-to-zero stopping distance, it's 119 feet, which is very respectable, not as good as some of the competition, but it's around there, basically the Genesis gv80, for example, is 112 feet.
A similar price range to this is 104, but overall as far as the braking field goes it's been

perfect

ly fine, no brake pedal lag or sponginess or anything like that so it feels

perfect

ly fine here on our x5 that we have today. As for suspension and handling up front, you'll find a double wishbone front suspension at the rear, lightweight multi-link integral rear suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars were also not mentioned, although there is an optional two-axle air suspension that goes for a thousand dollars that of course will give you the best ride quality without a doubt but that being said we don't have that today and honestly the ride quality is perfectly fine of course the air suspension will give you better handling. quality if you wanted the best, but I don't care at all what we have here today, it's definitely absorbing a lot of the road imperfections that we have here in Pennsylvania, we definitely have a good share of it, let me tell you, but anyway so far.
While the steering feel is incredible, you can also instantly notice a difference the moment you put it in sport driving mode, so it's another one of those adjustments that driving modes make and a better one than that: the feel of the steering, I feel it turns a little. better, although I know it's just in my mind, but the steering wheel grips, the 10 to 2 grips on this thing are reinforced so hard I love it. I feel like it instantly tells you better in the direction you want to go just because the steering The wheel braces on the 10 and two grips are absolutely incredible so I always like to mention that with most BMWs specifically this m sport package that we have today definitely help with that, but anyway as far as cabin noise goes it's perfectly fine, definitely no wind noise at all.
Getting into the cabin, sometimes once you hit 50 miles per hour with other manufacturers you realize you don't get that with the x5 and that's pretty much what's expected, here we have a luxury suv after everything that touches visibility. It looks perfectly fine at the rear, so there is absolutely no problem when it comes to visibility. I also wanted to mention that rain sensing wipers also come standard on the x5, so basically what happens is whenever the x5 detects any type of fog or rain, it goes. automatically turning on those wipers because it's just one less thing you have to worry about essentially, so that's great and if you opt for the premium package or the executive packages, you'll find a head-up display that also projects your speed. as the speed limit and some safety features on the windshield also help keep your eyes on the road, which will help with visibility, but that completes the performance segment of this review.
Now guys let's go ahead and take a look at the x level of our new 2021 bmw x5 okay so here it is guys the new 2021 bmw x5 x drive 40i definitely looks good in black but let's go ahead and get started from the front with this active kidney-shaped front grille with satin aluminum surrounds. will be the standard configuration you guys can obviously see we have gloss black finish surrounds on that front grille because we have the m sport package so I wanted to mention that the m support package is about a little under six thousand dollars if you're interested. but it definitely gives it a more aggressive look on the front, but anyway, speaking of the corners, you can see it.
There are actually front air curtains that help direct air around the wheel and tire combination, providing slightly better aerodynamics on the sides. Full customizable icon. LED headlights, of course, come with the automatic function, which means that when it starts to get dark at night, those headlights will turn on automatically. LED daytime running lights come standard, you guys can also see the automatic high beams and love that feature. It basically means that when a car is coming in the opposite direction, you have your high beams on, you'll switch them back to low beams, and then when that vehicle is gone, you'll switch them back to high beams, so you never have to worry about that. . again, LED fog lights also come standard and what I originally said at the beginning, adaptive full LED headlights, essentially means that when you're going to turn at night, the headlights will rotate based on the direction of your direction, which will help illuminate better what's around the bank, you're less likely to hit a deer or a squirrel or whatever, so that's also a very cool feature for the headlights and I would also mention that there is an executive package that adds laser light technology LED, essentially what it is. it's BMW's version of the brightest lighting allowed by law so it'll be there for you and again the m sport package is $5750 and gives you that revised front fascia for a much more aggressive look that looks great on me opinion, but now Let's go ahead and go to the side of this one, so now that we're close to the side the x5 satin aluminum roof rails come standard, although if you opt for the m sport package you'll get gloss black roof rails, you guys can Look, they also surround the windows in gloss black, since we have the m sport.
Basically everything is gloss black with the m sport package. I'll just summarize it by putting it that way. Rear privacy glass also comes standard as far as the side mirrors are concerned, they are electric. Heated folding side mirrors with integrated LED signals which is the standard setup, once again satin aluminum window trim will come standard on the x5 but again the m sport will change that to body colored side skirts in glossy black that will also come standard. only with the m sport package, otherwise you will get matte black side skirts, front fender accents, you guys can see, let's take a look at the wheel setup. 19-inch V-spoke alloys come standard on the 20-inch x5.
Dual five spoke alloys for the m sport and there are actually other wheel packages available for this one as well and you guys also want to measure with the m sport. You can see those red brake calipers that will also be added at that time. but now let's go ahead and go to the rear of the x5 and above you will find a body color shark fin antenna just below the rear spoiler with an integrated brake light just below the rear wiper LED taillights of course that come standard on this one too and by the way, adaptive LED taillights, m specific rear bumper, if you were to go for the m sport package that we have here today and just below, this is probably my favorite part, x5 has been doing this. for a while and it's one of the coolest exhaust setups, they actually integrate the exhausts into the rear bumper which is the coolest aspect in my opinion and I think you guys know what we need to do next, as always, here is that. exhaust clip hmm okay since we're now at the back of the x5, when it comes to opening the rear liftgate it's a hands free power liftgate that comes standard on this one actually so there's a couple of different shapes, of course, are hands. free, there's a button on the key fob, there's a button on the liftgate and there's also a button on the driver's side door, so there's a few different ways to go ahead and open that one, but once it's open, it opens the carrying capacity behind the third. row because there is an optional third row available in the x5, we don't have it today, but I do want to mention it's 2300 if you want it, but behind the third row, 15 cu. ft., it's a rare option I will say. that behind the second row as you're looking at right now 33.9 cubic feet if that wasn't enough space there's actually a 40 20 40 split which means everything folds completely flat I love that and behind that first row then 72.3 cubic feet so that's definitely a decent amount.
For what this SUV is, there's definitely a rear cargo cover back there as well. I always like to see those velvet rugs in thecargo space, so it was great that they got some cargo lights and also some grocery bag hooks. In addition to under the cargo floor, there's actually a spare tire that you could probably put a couple things in back there, but it's mostly just the spare tire; There's technically no floor storage or anything, so I wouldn't do it. I mentioned that now let's go ahead and move towards the legroom in the rear. If you were to go to the third row, it's 31.2 inches, so it's not a lot of room, so I can't show you, obviously not.
I don't have the third row today in the second row, although it's 37.4 inches, so for reference, I mean Even six feet tall, this is how much space I had in back, plenty of room for my rear center armrest with cup holders, also comes with standard rear window sunshades. It can be had for an extra $250 if you want four-zone climate control to come standard with the executive and premium packages if you want it, but having said that rear ventilation comes standard across the board, so I'm definitely grateful Of course we have that there are also phone charging ports that are located in the back of the front seats, if you noticed, the rear passengers can charge their phones or tablets or whatever, there is also a little bit of storage space there right in front of the center rear seat if you want and there is a 12 volt outlet. power outlet back there too, so there are plenty of charging ports for the rear passengers, that's always good, but they reach the front seat. 16-way power adjustable front seats, which is a lot of adjustments you can have with those front seats and that includes four-way power lumbar and it includes two-way power side bolsters, always like that in BMW because they help keep you in place in the curves.
I love the power side bolsters on any bmw, also the thigh support which I love too, but anyway the front seats will be heated which comes standard. Sensotec upholstery is the standard configuration. However, you can get leather seats that are optional with either package. The truly ventilated front seats will also be optional multi-contour front seats that cost 750 still. another option and you can get massaging front seats, which is part of the luxury seating package that also costs sixteen hundred dollars if you want, but overall, like I said, sixteen-way power adjustable front seats, these seats are very comfortable, You really shouldn't have them. any problems finding your perfect driving position in the x5 just because these seats can be adjusted so many different ways so I love it then take a look at the steering wheel it's tilt and telescoping by the way it's power tilt and telescoping , so that's It's always nice that it's a leather wrap that comes standard and you can get a heated steering wheel for an additional $250, which I love on this super cool day here in Pennsylvania, so now let's get to the top, Let me start by showing you the key.
This is an m sport specific key which you can see by the colors of course on the side of the key but you can lock and unlock that button to open the rear hatch and by the way the lock button is the BMW logo in the middle but essentially it's all keyless entry with a push button start, there's also a remote start that comes with the premium convenience and executive packages and they also have a digital key with a small access card so let me show you that essentially the way this works this is an nfc card you just slide it into the wireless phone charger and this is how it will go ahead and start this if you don't want to carry your keys it will also unlock and lock the doors then as well , so technically you don't even need the keys anymore, that's cool, but for now I'm just going to put my phone on the brake and press the engine start button located just to the left of the gear shift, etc. once started you're looking at a 12.3 inch digital gauge cluster and I love this setup speedometer on your left and there are controls mounted on the steering wheel that you can adjust what's in that actual digital gauge cluster and also when you shift driving modes. to change the look of the gauge cluster too, if you put it in eco pro there will be a lot of blue tones, if you put it in sport there will be a lot of red tones and of course the comfort will be kind. orange so you can adjust the gauges with the driving modes, I guess that's cool too, plus the speed limit recognition technology will tell you the speed limit on any road to the end, how many miles you have left until you get there . dump your outside temp the list goes on, digital gauge clusters are really the future and I love BMW's setup for them so navigation will be front and center too but now let's move on and move towards quality general interior here, panoramic moon.
The roof comes standard on this one. I wanted to mention the best option, although for the x5 with the executive package you get a sky lounge LED roof, essentially LED lighting that surrounds the entire panoramic sunroof and looks like stars for the actual sunroof. At night I can't show it to you because we don't have it, but it's incredibly cool. I wish we had it, but anyway the anthracite headliner comes with standard LED interior lighting and a universal garage door opener for up to three. Different garage doors are located at the bottom of that rear view mirror.
There is multi-colour ambient lighting as standard. I love BMW's ambient lighting. I will say that you also have the option of glass controls if you want, which comes with the executive. package, like the gear lever, also some of the knobs for the volume and also the knob for the infotainment, will be glass which is a pretty good setup, I like it and overall it's finished very similar to as you would expect a BMW to be finished. It has some nice contrast stitching inside the leather above the passenger side glove box. The entire dashboard is wrapped in leather and contrast stitching, as well as the doors.
It has two cupholders right in front of the gear lever. 12 volt power outlet. USB charging port. and as I mentioned, they also have that wireless phone charger that you can put that card in to start this one. There is also an electromechanical parking brake which is located just behind the gear lever and inside the center armrest there is a decent amount of storage. There isn't actually a lot of storage to be honest but there is also a charging port for your phone and honestly my favorite part is the panoramic sunroof and the LED ambient lighting, I think it's cool but now talking about the lighting environmental.
Let's get to the tech display, there's a 12.3-inch infotainment screen of course, which matches the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. It makes sense, you can adjust it using the touch screen. It is a touch screen. You can also adjust it using a circular dial. and the buttons located just to the right of the shift lever are also voice-activated and there's also gesture control that comes with the Premium and Executive packages, so, for example, you could turn your finger clockwise of the clock to increase the radio volume and vice versa. turn it down again, that's one of the things you can do, there's a lot of other things too, but it's a pretty cool feature, but Bluetooth audio streaming of course comes standard with Android Auto Apple Carplay and factory navigation It also comes standard. check your weather information there too, of course, like I was saying, ambient lighting, you can adjust all the different colors there if you want, there are quite a few different colors that you can check out, so that's my personal favorite and of course your weather information radio and by the way that new feature I mentioned at the beginning for the 2021 x5, at least the sirius xm radio now comes standard so that's cool, I like the sirius xm radio but anyway as for the speakers They include a high-fidelity sound system with a tenth speaker that comes standard with 205 watts;
However, if you go for the Premium or Executive packages, you can get a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with 464 watts, but we don't have that. I have the 10 speaker sound system here today, so what do you say? Let's go ahead and turn on the radio, see what we sound like today and test the clarity of it. Honestly, it was fine, I guess it does the job. I've personally listened to the Harman Kardon sound system and it's a night and day difference compared to the one I just tested, so definitely go for the Harman Kardon if you can, that's what I'd prefer, but anyway that one sound system will definitely do the job.
Although it is not my favorite, but the last thing I want to mention to you on that infotainment screen is that when you put the x5 in reverse, of course you will find a rear view camera and that was when I also mentioned that the 360 degree monitor will be optional , but either way that, as always, will lead us to safety, so the current front side airbags come standard in the rear, it will have a latch, aka lower anchors and child tethers for the seats rear of the car, rear door for children. locks in the tire pressure monitoring system, which is pretty boring for the most part, but where the fun comes in, a forward collision warning system, active blind spot detection, lane departure warning, traffic recognition will also be standard. speed limit, as I said before, and front and rear parking sensors.
Additionally, there are a couple of optional safety packages including the parking assist package which costs 800 and the driving assistance professional package which costs 1700 which provides adaptive cruise control and a couple more, but generally when this is about my final thoughts here on the 2021 x5 excellent ride quality even without the air suspension that would be even better obviously three years of free maintenance is definitely very good and the serious free xm is a nice addition for the year 2021 model. Almost perfect interior quality. I always love the interior quality especially when you go with the glass controls which I played with before this is actually very good the third row is kind of unusable I guess if you got that in my personal opinion you might as well get both rows, so they are usually x5.
Both rows will be set up, but you can get the third row, so I like that they have that as an option. My only really constructive criticism for this one is that it can be very expensive with all the options you can get. this one, but again, it's great that they have options there, so you can basically get what you want, make the vehicle yours, which is a good thing, but it does get expensive, I'll say that, but that fills out. this review guys let me know what you think of the x5 in the comments section below, feel free to follow me on social media at the bottom of the screen if you want to see what's coming next on the channel before it arrives to the channel be sure to hit the subscribe and bell notification button if you like new car reviews that's what we do here on this channel after all I appreciate you guys seeing more than you think and I'll see you back everyone in the next video stay gold
