2019 Scatpack Vs Hellcat .. 0-60 on the street - are you serious?

Jun 06, 2021
welcome back it's Racer 60 on the

street

with what I would consider

street

tires, now they are actually drag radials but they are not my track drag radials but to get a good comparison I want to put the same tires on both cars and I would be willing to bet that the results will be very, very surprising. Keep in mind that the street is kind of an equalizer, but I want to see how the thousand horsepower car compares to the 485 horsepower car. on the street to see who reduces energy the best, the results should be quite interesting.

2019

scat package. It doesn't have the dynamic package, so it actually comes with this little 245 Eagle RSA 2, which is a type tire. hard. In fact, I'm going to get a little bit of a baseline, a 0-60 in this car with those Street tires. To see what the best time I can think of is, I am NOT going to throw that tire at the Hellcat, as you can imagine the Hellcat already wears out a regular 275 Street tire like it's not even there, so that would be a moot point .

This tire is on, but I guess we'll go do a quick baseline with a challenger to see what it can do 0-60 on these tough street tires. I'm not going to take pressure off the tires, guys. That is something I want to expose and qualify. I want this to essentially be a street finish, so what that means is you're turning at a light and someone comes up to you, how's the car? I'm going to perform zero to 60 in real world conditions, no, let me go out and let the air out of the tires or you know, let me warm up the tires, that's literally how you're going to ride on the street and see. how the car will behave, so let's see how it does for the purposes of this video.

In fact, I'm going to keep the car now, this is the

2019

Scat Pack Challenger. I'm going to keep the car in drivetrain mode. it's how I like to drive it and obviously with the paddle shifters on we won't use the paddle shifters and then of course the attraction we'll keep it in sport and the steering will stay in sport which really shouldn't make any difference but Solo I want to let you know what my settings will be for this, now we can always change the settings and who knows, I mean maybe someone has had more success with a different setting, maybe just running it in full sport mode. whatever it is, but for this I'll keep it in the mode I normally drive the car in.

Well guys, first try the zero to sixty Pole 2019 scat pack challenger. We already have the one ready for us sitting here on the street. To continue, I'll leave you first with the driving modes I just mentioned. I'm going to try to modulate the throttle and we'll see how it goes well, so one that's a five point having a lot of wheelspin off the line wasn't really ideal, but let me show you what it looked like really fast, so here you go. five point one hey for attempt number two actually I'm going to go out in second gear so we'll see how we do with this here we go we still had a weird turn on the first and second which was actually a third attempt 5.3 good.
We'll go ahead and see how we do. I'll just try to modulate the throttle again. and hopefully we can get under five seconds, so we'll see how it goes this time five-three, so apparently guys, 5-1 is the best I could do, she really tries hard in first and second, even modulating the throttle before that I can. swim on it, so voila, 5.1 seconds is the best I could get in three races with the scat pack challenger with those little 245 Eagle tires. I tried a couple different techniques there, but you know you want to avoid having to be out there all day and just run after survey after survey, we're trying to limit it to three runs for each set of tires so you can see that the Hellcat is still on one because we're just not going to use those tires on the back of that thing. it just makes too much power, it would be ridiculous, but it's a good baseline. 5.1 is where we will start and now we will see how things improve, as you can see there, we have the weave in 5-5-5. to test which one is currently on the back of the Hellcat and then also the Mickey Thompson 305 on the SS street, so a couple of different tires here to test should be fun.
Well now I'm aboard the thousand horsepower Dodge Charger Hellcat and on the street. I'll be the first to tell you this thing is an animal, it has 309 gears which makes it even harder to engage and, Of course, with all the extra power, it's an absolutely pointless exercise to try. Hit this thing on the street from a roll no matter what type of tires you're running, but you know, we'll give it a try and see how it goes. I'm going to run my transmission in sport mode. I'm also going to Run my traction in sport mode and my suspension, we're going to leave that on the street and that's my normal driving mode for this car to give us the best feeling that you know what the car is really capable of, so Which anyway, here's how it works.
Guys I'll see you all coming and the only thing about this car is that it's very loud so it's going to get some attention on this one first. I think I'll go ahead and start second and see how it goes. Let's see how we run here first, run Mickey Tom's. Sorry, I spun Ont 555 with our tires, that was a spin fest to say the least. I don't think the car was hooked at all, according to this it was a 4.8 with no lug nuts. second gear this car is so violent oh my god wow it never engaged we just stayed there come on 4.8 ok run to try and leave it in first this time which should be an absolute joke we'll wait and look what's happening here we go I'm absolutely spinning like crazy this one is ridiculous the car spun about 45 degrees sideways it was an absolutely terrible 5.9 so the thing about this car is you're always on the verge of spinning and Sometimes you can I really don't know where that line is and it's really kind of a controlled turn because if you're not turning you're slow, but if you're turning you're slow, it's a real challenge to hook this. car on the street anything really under 70 miles per hour okay so it was a 4.9 made a lot of noise she just spins I mean it doesn't seem like no matter how much I modulate the throttle she is spinning but what you do?
Does the car just make a lot of power? It's hard to modulate power even on these drag radials on the street. She makes it easy to spin them no matter how hard I try, so 4.9 on the last one, okay, best I could muster. with the NT 555 they are in the back of the Hellcat it was a 4.8 in three runs it still turned terribly regardless of how much I modulated the throttle they just don't stick on the street it's too much power but we gave it a good run. 4.8 the best we could do, now it's time to change some tires.
Here's a good look at these two tires so you can see. I have a little more tread left on the Nitto, but that's the MT 5 5 5 r, that's the Mickey Thompson Street SS. Right there you can see there's not much tread left on this guy, kudos to my wife on the last track events, but you can see there's a comparison of those two tires and here's actually her handiwork from the last event and that's where you find most of Those Mickey Thompsons did something so funny about this Hellcat is that on the track it actually went 2.1 seconds from zero to 60, which is pretty quick, but obviously we're not on a prepared surface and the surface is the equalizer because by spinning a win, we got Trying to plant power is not an easy thing to do, even when it's hot like today, so let's give it a try.
Hey guys, this will be running alongside a Mickey Thompson Street SS and a 305. On the Hellcat, this time we're going to go in second gear, the setup is the same, we'll have spark and sport transmission and drive and obviously the suspension. The street, what really matters, is going to turn, so in any case we'll be even a second on this one and see how it goes here we go, let's see how we did well, that was a very similar 4.7. I tried not to steer too badly on that one, but of course when you're modulating the throttle.
I still have to maintain the speed, so it's a little difficult four point seven. The run was actually a little faster than the Nitto, but not by much, so I really think starting in second gear is the key for the Hellcat, it's not. It really helps a lot, let's try this again, so this is race 2 with the 305 Mickey Thompson Street SS. We'll keep going and try to go out in second gear again this time, here we go, okay, four point five on that one, so we're getting a little better, sure, the streets here are not ideal, you know, maybe there's a little bit of dust and not is really the best place to do this, but guys, that's the real world, that's what happens on the street, so 14.5 there you have the last try with the Mickey Thompson, we're trying second gear, here we go, okay , that was a 4.2 which is actually better than I thought it was going to do, so I managed to minimize the amount of wheel spin on that one by some.
For this reason, the Mickey Thompson just doesn't seem to turn as easily as I can. blow them whenever I want, but they don't seem to spin as easily as the Nitto, so I was able to plug in a little better 4.2, that is. It's by far the best we had up to three, there you have it, the Mickey Thompson Street SS managed a 4.2 in the third run, they go out in second gear, so they definitely beat the 555 by more than half. Second, there is definitely something to aim for for the scat pack. I don't know if it can hit those numbers but we're going to try so back to the 2019 scat pack challenge this time I have the nit Ont 555 ours on the back of the car obviously these tires are not only wider but also stickier, so I'm thinking this first race here I'm actually going to go out in first gear and see how much power this thing will hold and see what kind of time we can take advantage of, so I'm actually sitting here ready to go 4.4 for that the car doesn't feel like it wants to turn with these it's just a little squeak from The hole and it was actually just hooked and reserved so there you go four point four so running to the first race wasn't that bad a four point four, which I'm relatively impressed with considering how hot it is here.
Let's believe it first this time and see how it goes well, so one was a 4.5, pretty consistent, a little bit of Tiger spin early on and then it was kind of a rain to the end, I think this next pass. In fact, I'm going to try to hammer it out of the hole and see if I can get a little more thrust out of the hole because the car doesn't really feel like it's out of control at all, it's actually holding on pretty well. with these woven OS's on the back, the last and final run with the woven O's, this time I'll leave second place and try to get it out of the hole and we'll see what it does here.
We didn't like the 4.8 as much, so I think the key with these drag radials is to go out first even on the street, but four point four and four point five in the first two races, the car runs pretty well with these little guys. Mickey Thompson, sorry, with the anit Ocean due on the back. Now we're going to move on to Mickey Thompson and see if we can improve on that four point four that we just did, so there you have 4.4 for the scat package. with the knit O's versus four point eight on the Hellcat with the very surprising result of the knit O's.
I'm back on board the 2019 Scat Pack Challenger and I've got the Mickey Thompson Street SS on the back in 305s obviously you know basically the same thing. kind of setup like the Nitto just running the Mickey Thompson this time we're going to start in first gear on the first pull here we go to point out that those Mickey Thompsons seem to hook this car up well so it was a little bit 4.2 on the same first pass pretty good there you go four point two here comes stroke number two it seems to be connecting well in first gear so I'm going to stick with first gear and see how it goes here I'm going to leave it basically off idle it should be able to get through there let's see 4.3, a little bit of twist from a tire, but not much, really plants the power well, okay, last chance for glory.
I don't think the second gear post works as well as first gear with the drag. radials in this car, so anyway we're going to give it one more chance here in first gear and see how it goes, here we go, that was a 4.5. I had a little more spin there when going from 1st to 2nd shift, so in any case it was pretty good. In fact, I amreally impressed with how this car ran a little faster in the Mickey Thompson than the Nitto, but first gear pulls in these cars, the car actually connects very well. on a less than perfect street, so it seems to be running very well, well there you go, the scat package actually ran identical 4.22, the Hellcat with the Mickey Thompson Street SSE on the back, note that now We only did three pulls.
First of all, I want to give a couple quick qualifications. I live in North Texas, it's a hundred degrees outside guys, so the cars wouldn't make as much power as they would in 50 or 40 degrees, but sure, then you have to deal with the slipping problem or the traction problem. , so something I think about is there's Iran Street pressures on these as well, so these tires were adjusted between 33 and 35 pounds when we tested them, obviously guys. If you were to lower the pressures that may help a little with traction, keep in mind I was trying to keep this as street oriented as possible.
If you were to approach another car at a stoplight in any random place in America, this would be You know the kind of conditions we'd like to emulate, so guys, at the end of the day, it's amazing that the poop pack is just as fast with The Mickey Thompsons there, it's faster with the woven O's there and, as you can see. 5.1 on the street tires, it's going to be tough with those two little 45s, which is the best we can muster, but what does that tell us at the end of the day? It's all about street traction.
The Hellcat is really a Guys, fast cars, as you know, it's like an incredibly fast 9 second sedan, but I couldn't get close to half throttle, guys, that's all I could use. I couldn't get close to the ground with the scat pack with so much drag. radials in the rear, I was basically able to plant it about 20 feet away and the car hooked up, so there's something to be said for those guys, so hey, a little bit of accessories for the 392, obviously, if we're in the clue, the

hellcat

. It's going to dominate because it's a sticky track where the car will just hold on and go to the street.
You have to be careful with these types of scat packs, there is a lot of torque and they reduce power very well. They seem to transfer weight well. Such a surprising result that a thousand horsepower car can be outclassed by a car making 485 horsepower and its stock, so this was a fun little video. I really enjoyed it. I changed a ton of tires anyway. I know what you think about all of this in the comments below once again. If you haven't subscribed to the channel, be sure to do so until the next time Racer
