1969 Boss 429 Ford Mustang Test Drive NASCAR Streetcar Musclecar Kaase

Alright guys, we're on our way to check out a car that I might want to make a video about for a while. It's a pretty special car. I won't spoil the surprise, but it's a Ford and it was built in the '60s and it was home, Calm closed, forget about that front end and it was built for NASCAR in the '60s, so you don't want to miss this. How do you know the '69 Mustang hasn't changed from any other '69? Or is there something? changes essentially it's basically a 69 Mustang with a sport roof with a reference code so it didn't have some of the same features of the Mach 1 now it has a Mach 1 type interior with some differences it has its own carpet there are some things that are different about that , but it had the Mach 1 type interior but it had no rocker moldings, no additional moldings, no blacked out hood, no hood pins, no spoilers, no shutters, except with the exception of a front spoiler, this spoiler is special for a

for tonight.

Early cars don't really have texture if the spoiler on one Boss is an inch shorter than the spoiler on another like us say Boss 302 or a later model Mustang, because of the big engine the front end is level so that these cars were only offered. with a 391 gear ratio because the gear ratio is very high on a long trip, Ford had to have a way to discharge the heat and what they used was this oil cooler that actually takes and transfers heat from the oil and discharges something of that. That the engines would last longer, the important thing for Ford was that these cars pass the warranty, so Ford intentionally took and added a small carburetor.

They originally came up with a 735 CFM carburetor and had a more street type camshaft, they would have had small. equipment and they used a wide or close ratio transmission, all of those things were intentionally made to make these cars where they weren't necessarily street killers, but they could pass the warranty. This part actually has a unique valve cover. The covers are actually made of ignition, this part has what is called the S engine, which was the real NASCAR engine later in the year, they moved on to a T series engine that is tied to the street, but with highest power possible from the factory, these are rated. with 375 horsepower, now there is a manufacturer for that, we really believe they only made 375.

Well you have to remember this is the time when insurance rates were skyrocketing so they wanted the horsepower rating of force out in a reasonable amount. You could secure this part, okay, they would make about 600 horsepower. This is part number 12 82, which you would think would be car number 82, but obviously there were some prototypes, but the axle assembly wasn't in order, so they built these cars. and in color batches so this car was actually number 82. It was the 50th Boss 429 Mustang built. How many did they build vintage? They built 850,850 cars, a total of 69.69 Boss 429 Mustangs. they have over 70 less than 70, they only built these cars because the engines were so big they needed some room under the hood for air, so it has an air configuration ram, but you'll notice there's a big flap on Here what this hatch does is have a wire under the dash because these cars had to pass emissions and people had to be able to

drive

them on cold days.

Mustang there were no options so your only option was color they had five color combinations and the black jade is a green color but it actually looks black most of the time these cars will understand that is the only designation on the exterior that is a boss 429 the magnum wheels are 15 inches there are 15 inch wheels and they are actually kind of special, the reason is because the boss had its own rotor and the wheel granted bigger wheel burns on a normal Mustang, they had to have their own center cap, they have their own because the journals are longer and that's why it's a special where you want to borrow I'll show you everything that spacious companies have because you notice the batteries in the trunk because the engine was so big that they had to relocate the battery in the trunk, but because the batteries in the trunk no I also had to figure out where to mount the spare tire so the Boss 429 actually has its own special size because of the f6d tire, they had to use a 7.75 spare tire which is unlike any other Mustang and it was also relocated on the other side of the trunk, so tell us about the pain condition.

I know, this is not a restored car. Now the background on this car is that this car had a problem with the o-rings in the heads this owner had a leak in the cylinder head o-rings so someone took this car away. They broke up about 35 years ago and never put it back together so this car was in a barn and had a lot of stuff on it over the years so the paint has some flaws and imperfections but essentially this is an original unrestored. you'd call a survivor type car just to give you an indication that he started at Rinna Lot.

This one has twenty seven thousand two hundred twelve original miles and there's a reason why they run triple one yeah the high gear ratio the high gear ratio. and the fact that they were kind of a novelty car even new, so most of a high mileage Boss 429 is a thirty thousand mile car, so we've talked about the exterior of the car, we've talked about all the features specials. I think this is the part I want to see, so let's take this for a spin, okay, absolutely surprisingly soft, I have to say it's actually less hard than my 60 high.
