Apr 02, 2024
that Matt is there for your convenience thank you sir guys I'm going to do yoga VW yoga VW yoga don't scratch it it'll be fine that started out too slow yeah you had to hit the key no it's not mine. I know it's a little hard to believe, but it's from Brian. Brian wants it to get tatterer. How do you want to describe it different, different, yeah, okay, we'll go with that kind of hassle. Yours is too clean. His 67 is too. clean to bother where this one has been sitting for a while it's a 66 in a 64 pan uh the tires were all flat where it was and we filled them up and so far they're whole there we like it I showed them they need it but it works the emergency brake works and he has a family of friends that live there and what's the engine is an H es 1500.

Look at you, you're getting nervous so let's see what we can. Let's see if we can get this guy back up and shooting and running? So let's prepare a little. I think we're going to try to dislodge some bugs and, uh, start putting the battery in and see what we have. For fuel, maybe plug in some external fuel and go from there, so stay tuned, what do you think isn't too bad? It's the color of the fuel, a little dirty yellow. I don't know, if there's some crap floating at the bottom, you can try it. I think I probably missed some footage, but Brian already started digging the only nest there, it should get to the point where we can hit it with the BB gun, but that whole corner was full, you can still see it, yeah, even in the The back of it has debris, so we're going to do our best to continue dislodging it, blow it out with air, and then we'll figure out how to put the battery in this thing and see if it starts for us.

Let's see if we can finish the evacuation, preparing to throw away that battery, we take out the seed and the good ones don't want to short circuit with the spring agreement where mats are placed between the metal coils and the seat. Because whoever is sitting in the back seat is going to get their butt hit when you go over the bumps, because that hole is where the batteries should be and when you're sitting in it, as they get bigger, they go on and off, especially if you don't. you were using the correct VW battery, lays out the situation, it's got oil in it, it's very clean and we took the battery out of the crew cab, it's halfway to the floor but we're hooked up so I thought maybe we'd go. turn the key and we'll see if the starter works and turns it on, there we go, the dash light doesn't come on but it could be the battery or the starter motor connection.

I have the extra jumper package, let's see if that will make any difference for us or if it's the starter motor and it's not going to work, that starter motor doesn't work, it will pull the rear passenger wheel lock, access to that motor Starter looks like a new brake drum and let's see that you are stuck, there you go. You can see that jumper cable on the back, just move the snorkel out of our way and those are the cables over there. You want to try hitting that key to see if it works after you move it a little, right? to turn it back every time too, yeah, okay, keep it nice, so I haven't checked for spark, but I think we're going to try to do that.

This car sat for about 4 years. I'm going to try to fill it. the float ball with a little diesel mixture helps lubricate the top end, it's overflowing now so that should do it, let's close the choke. I've got the gas, if you want to turn that key for me, let's see what we've got. The fuel line is absolutely Swiss cheese, it's just bordering anywhere and everywhere outside the fuel line, so I'm going to replace it with a second one for comic effect. Well, yes, that could be a problem now that we completely soaked the distributor. gas, we should be ready, we have a new fuel line, give it another chance, Brian, wait, yeah, we're going to have to clean the points, let's go in and see what we've got, grab that screwdriver over there from the cover h, yeah, I'll do it I have. take out the man's hands, yeah, they're uh TR.
I turn the light on just right, they're pretty white, we're looking right there, that's the problem, let's get the file out, clean that up, I know my night my light is ruined. Get up guys, but I can't see that kind of glow in the middle. Replace the rotor. We'll take an air gun. Let's remove all that gas garbage around it so it doesn't cause it to burn. too fast, okay, let's try again, go ahead, sir. Fire play that didn't sound good at all, I thought the valves are a little stuck, a little, go ahead. I don't sound too promising, so turn on the oil.
It shuts off and doesn't make noise all the time, it comes and goes, we think a valve is hanging a little so we are going to adjust the valves to check the valve clearance. what they look like, uh, possibly what happened is they put varnish on the back of the valve and the valve just won't come back. We'll especially

find

that with the burst through the carburetor it has the same kind of MMO that could ooze oil, so you might want to see how this cover gets totally good about real fighting that doesn't quite stop and sucks when you're low pressure, no one is looking, okay, they can look, come on, there you are looking at the number one he has. play, that one has play We are GNA, turn it to number two, see if number two does it, so this is the driver's side, this is cylinder number three and that is cylinder number three.
The cylinder valve doesn't do what it's supposed to do so you have a problem if it's just stuck or the valve has fallen off which is a common problem on number three cylinder PWS in general so I'll try installing some water pumps here and reopen that valve, if that works. Maybe we'll just remove the pushrod and let it run a little bit on all three cylinders, let it get up to temperature a little bit, let it jump on this one, I'm not sure how I want to attend to this yet. but I just want to see if that goes back because it goes back first, so we know the valve didn't drop or break or bend.
It only has varnish behind the stem which does not allow it to return, but if not, if not. I don't want to go back, so we have to pull the engine, remove the cylinder head and fix it manually, but it is what it is, so what we're going to do is put the tire back on the jack on the driver and passenger side. On the driver's side, let's get the valve and rocker assembly out of the way and see if we can work that valve and see if we can free it up. I think the valve is stuck in the guide so I want to be able to touch it. inside and outside put some CRC maybe at the entrance or whatever.
Let's see if we can move. You know the engine is going to have to come out anyway and a bunch of stuff, but right now we're just playing around and seeing if I can take Carter's yard path, so again, that's the one that's stuck. Now we can get into it a little bit and I want to see if I can try to push it forward a little bit and get some rock. Going forward, forward, the steering there comes out fantastic, so I want to spray that a little bit more, get behind it and I want to try to get something going and push that valve maybe a little bit and walk around so we take the varnish off that guy, so it doesn't do that anymore, so what I did was I took that valve out, but then I put in a bunch of valve clearance.
I turned, I just checked this cylinder, but I put a lot of Valve clearance here I have about 4 or 50,000, so it's going to go away, but it's okay, we'll see if it comes back. I think we're going to leave that valve cover there for a moment, let's rip it off. and as long as we don't rev it too much, it shouldn't spill oil everywhere, but we're just seeing if we can fix the problem for now. Go ahead sir. Okay, you can turn it off. We're going to put the valve cover back in there, let it run and warm up now we're going to turn it on again with the valve cover on, go ahead sir that sounds better so we're going to let it warm up. for a while then we'll come back and readjust the valves and see if we can get this working like it should, maybe not, it may not be idle, start running the carburetor too, both lights are off, you get a flicker, okay, headlights .
I say let's try to put it in gear first second third fourth go into reverse wait a minute, that's fine back, put it in third, it has the pedals except the accelerator pedal, actually the roller will go, it goes, but the pedal we have to arrive. put some lube on the pedal, the pedal itself is stuck, you're going to take your first step down the driveway if the gas pedal slips, just turn the key off, I think it's all the way back, you could die, it's working, whatever the fuck. there's gas there the brakes work the front brakes work d we have the 30 license oh reverse 66 home sweet home well guys I think that'll end it all for me and Brian will carry the torch that's his new car and he should do it how It was the First trip, I fit well, without a stop, but it was fine.
