18+ DOLLAR TREE HIGH-END WOODEN ORGANIZATION IDEAS AND HACKS

May 30, 2021
Hello friends, Josie, here I live at 50 and over, thanks for joining me here on my channel, where you will find DIY, practical and easy, mostly affordable. Today I have a compilation video for all of you and they are all

wooden

organizers that I have made over the years. so sit back, relax and enjoy this collection, so for the first diy i will show you how to make this beautiful decorative organizer. It is a decoration and an organizer in one. I'll use this box which I really like. like a cubic box they sell at Dollar Tree and this group I bought on Amazon.

I'll link it in the description box under the link to the product and I'll also use the e6000 because I don't do this one. I want to use the screw that it comes with because the box itself is thin and that's why I use the e6000, it's durable so I let it dry overnight and I just make sure to look at it to make sure it's in the center and then I do it. i press just so it dries probably anywhere from a couple of hours to overnight and i have another set here and i'm still deciding at this point if i'm going to use the inside part and show the heart there as a design but then i decided to use the larger part and not the drawer part so this is the drawer part so it's up to you if you want to choose the drawer part or the inner part but I have decided to use the identical size to be my top part and then I will just use my hot glue, but feel free to use wood glue or even e6000, but for demonstration purposes I'm just using hot glue here and then I just press the inside of the box. the top to make sure it's nice and flush and then what I'm going to do next is paint this box and this is from Apple Barrel and it's called Lime Aid and I really love this color so after I dry it.

By the way, I applied a couple of coats of paint and dried between coats and didn't paint the inside just the edge at the top. I wanted to make sure to keep the inside part clean because I really like the way the natural wood tone shows up there so I put some washi for the washi lover who was going to receive this gift inside the drawer or you can put anything there, maybe those mini nail polishes or lip glosses and all that on top. just putting on some silk flowers and voila you can make this gif all year round teacher appreciation gifts in spring or mother's day gifts and this is a dick organizer so I've been starting to use that term here on my channel since I started in the fall. from last year, but I'm reliving it again this year.

Now the top is very functional, not just decorative, so if you are tired of using it to display flowers, you can use it to put or organize your pencils and pens. I'll show you how much pen it can actually hold or hold. Look, there are a lot of my pencils in there and I can also show you that the bottom is still a compartment where you can put anything that fits inside, so I love to give practical things. gifts and this is one of them that I really know the person receiving it will appreciate, so here it is with some pens too and here it is with the flowers on top displayed next to my planners for the next DIY.

There will be another iteration of using that cubic box and I am creating an apothecary of sorts just using materials from the

dollar

tree

and I will be using a total of nine boxes in this project. They come in three styles, one with the flower cut out. one with the butterfly cutout and the other with a hard cutout, so now I'm just lining up the ones with the butterfly cutouts, if you don't like seeing the cutouts on the front just reverse the box or drawer part. This box and then you'll have a solid front and that's actually my preference, but again, if you don't like the solid front, feel free to use the cutout design part, then I'll just stack them and hot glue them together.
I can do this too, but if you prefer more durability or a stronger hold, use wood glue or even super glue or even e6000, but just to show you or for demonstration purposes, I'm using hot glue so I've decided to do that. three in each layer so I have a total of nine and this is what I'm going to use it for for my tea bags so if you're using the cut out front just use the tea bags with labels and then you can see exactly what that you have inside, this is perfect for organizing tea bags, as you can see here.
I'm just putting in different flavors of tea bags and the cutouts will be perfect because I can see what flavors of tea bags are in each box or drawer, now you can also fit anything in here like I'm showing you here. I have these nails or my drawer pulls as an example and you can also use this to organize some of your craft supplies. Anything small, you can have needles, beads, buttons or even spools of thread and even some office supplies, so like I said, I'm using this and demonstrating how you can use it to organize your tea bags.
Now, if you want to use the solid as a front, you have to cover the cutouts and the easiest way to do it. It is simply covering with cello or acetate a type of packaging material. I'm using this as an example, I'm not happy with the cover itself or the packaging material so it's still clear and you can see if for example you still want to use the cutout on the front you can still see what's inside but just I want to reverse this again. My favorite is to have the solid part on the front, but if I put something small like beads or buttons on, they can fall through those holes, so I would like to cover them. the holes with this acetate packaging so this is basically free if you buy things with packaging like this you don't have to buy an extra material just to cover or block that part there you can even use a piece of cardboard or any paper just to cover that, if you're going to use the reverse part or the solid part, but again, if you're using the front cutout, I suggest you use something clear so you can see the content and I'm demonstrating it here and then.
I'm just going to attach this using some tape or some glue, so here I show you that I even have these jingle bells just for my crafts and decorations, so again the possibilities are endless, anything that can fit inside now. I have this drawer that I showed you in the first project and this is perfect for creating an apothecary, but since I want to show how you can make a set of drawers using also a

dollar

tree

material, I will not use this drawer. pool in this project here I will use it again later in the third project where I created another apothecary that looks very sophisticated, so for this one I will use the obstacles or tower sets that they sell at Dollar Tree. and what I like about this one is not only because I'm using purely dollar tree and it's more affordable or economical to do so, but I also like the feel and look of the wood, it's a wood on wood project so I'm thinking.
Or I put it like this which will allow more room for my thumb or my fingers so just to show you when I place or connect the narrower part and you can see there's plenty of room there for people with bigger thumbs so again I suggest here . Instead of using hot glue, you can also use wood glue or super glue because sometimes hot glue doesn't stick well, especially in places where there is humidity or

high

humidity, so I just give you a tip, as you can see here, really stands out, it's easy. To also take out the drawer now I will also show you that you can use the wider part and that is what you will glue and then you will have the narrower part sticking out so I am just going to glue it. like this and then that will be my drawer, so for this project I didn't go for the one with a longer handle, but the one that looks a little flatter because another purpose I was thinking of for that one is that I can label it easily, attach a label this way and it's still easy to remove with your fingers and yes, again it will be a matter of preference for you.
I'm just showing you two positions here and just choose what works. For you, so I went ahead and removed those two pulls and then decided to use this one here, this style now with the wider front. I can use stickers or printouts or even write my labels by hand. I'm using this Caribbean acrylic. I paint and use my brush. I'm just painting each cube. Now you can paint it any color you want. I'm actually using paint I have in my stash and I bought my acrylic paint at Walmart because it's cheaper than the tree dollar. Tree sells them for a dollar each, of course, a different brand, a Dollar Tree brand, but the one at Walmart is Apple Barrel and they're only about 38 and I think 50 or 60 cents each, so you'll save a lot if you buy them. the ones from Walmart, but again, if you want it to be pure Dollar Tree, you can buy your paint at Dollar Tree if you don't have anything in your stash now that I'm a crafter, I have a lot of paint.
Now I decided to leave the inside bare and its natural color and I also have the lime green color here because I just want to give it a little bit of a dual tone or color block style. What I'm going to do is with the other drawers I'm going to paint them that color so what I'm going to do is three at the bottom and three at the top will have the color blue or the Caribbean blue color and then this lime color They will be the ones I will use for the center row or the middle row as a craftsman.
I love

high

lighting colors or using colors, especially in my craft room, and these are the colors that I lean towards if you've been following me here on my channel you'll see that a lot of my projects or things that I use are in this combination of colors. I really love how this project turned out. I'm actually done and loving it and this is again something I'm using correctly. now actually while I'm recording or voicing here in this video again for this collection I'm still using it for these tea bags actually some of the drawers I've used for my washes so I only left three flavors on the top and then the other drawers I also use for other things, so for the next DIY I'm going to create another apothecary.
I really love using Dollar Tree boxes because I can make something that beautiful and I'll use this iron. Drawer handle with label that I bought on Amazon. It comes in a pack of 20 pieces for 9.99. You will also need wood glue for this project. In the interest of time, I used my hot glue gun and glue sticks. I suggest using wood glue or e6000 for a stronger hold now I'm just lining up two boxes together making sure they don't stick out making sure they line up. I'm going to apply the glue in a thin layer, as you can see here, almost flat, I'm trying to make sure that there is Don't apply a thick layer of my hot glue because when it dries I don't want to create gaps between the two boxes because if it dries it would most likely create some gaps, so I'm trying to make sure I flatten it out. this as much as possible so I try to adjust as quickly as I can before the hot glue dries because it dries very quickly and like I said I make sure they are flat and connected well I'm just going to repeat the same steps upwards. to the fourth pair, connecting them on top of each other with the same method you see here, thin, flat application of glue, no big spots that will create gaps every time I connect them and then I line them up like this, then I adjust them and then I straighten them. and then pushing it to make sure it's lined up and then pushing it a little bit more and here they are so the next thing I'm going to do is I'm going to connect the four boxes together and then I'm going to connect the second pair on top of that making sure I line up the boxes so they look even and then I line them up so they look even and then I'm going to connect them all that way, so on top of these two pairs I'm going to put the third pair and then on top of that will be the fourth pair. and then make sure there's no gap on the sides and that's it, then I'm reversing each of the drawers so that the solid is the front, so now I'm going to connect or join all the groups of drawers together.
I'm using my e6000 and if you notice I have a fine tip applicator here, it's easier that way the super glue would work too because especially the ones with the smaller tip, it would work well like this e6000 that I have. location, know the middle part of the front of each drawer, press the top of each post with your fingers so that they connect well, and then dry them overnight. Now, instead of using wood stain, I'm going to use my acrylic paint in nutmeg brown and I'm going to dilute it with water. To be honest, I don't have the exact measurement.
This is something you'll probably want to adjust depending on how dark you want the tint to be, but the first time I did it it was like this. so thin because I was using half a cup of water and then I just put on my nutmeg brown acrylic paint and adjusted it as I went so look at this this is very pale the first time I tried it I was trying to experiment what kind of dye Look, I would like that, so I think I used too much water here, so I decided to reduce my water to a quarter cup instead of half a cup and thenI added more acrylic paint, about a quart of water, four more cups of water. maybe 20 to 25 drops of acrylic paint and then making sure that when I was applying it that I didn't get it too wet, I made sure to dry the brush a little bit and then I applied three coats of paint all over this apothecary or

wooden

cube chest and even the inside of the boxes.
I also painted them for the rough edges. I use my nail file, but you can also use fine grit sandpaper. They also sell them at Dollar Tree and then I just dust them off and then move on. I added my paint and in this apothecary I also painted a thin interior part, so unlike the previous projects, the first two projects I did not paint the interior part, in this one I am also painting the interior part so I can have a more cohesive image. look, do it even the inside of the drawer, so not only the inside of the box but also the inside of the drawer, so after painting everything and letting it dry, I finished and here it is, I love it, look that even the interior is painted to make it look even more luxurious if the interior is also finished and I love it.
I can put my tea bags here or you can put spices and also the dried spices that I have shown in the other video. You can cover those holes that were originally in the front so you can camouflage them. I really love how this one turned out. It really looks so luxurious whether finished or unfinished, and here's another way to use these cubic boxes this time. I'm going to use the outside part, not the drawer part. I'm using this as an organizer for my wooden cutlery sets or my utensils, so wooden spoons and forks and knives, and I'm just going to hot glue them together like this and again, I suggest. using wood glue or e6000 and after gluing them together, I'm just going to paint them and this is the acrylic craft paint that I bought at Michaels again.
I have a lot of paint and this is a light blue, a baby blue or a light blue. color and all I need is to paint the outside parts again. It's up to you if you want to paint the inside, but this is the shortened version. I'm not giving this away, I'm just keeping it for us. use and I'm just painting the outside like I said and maybe even the top edges of those three compartments after drying, I'm going to use these sticky signs that I bought at Dollar Tree to spell out the word eat so eat to eat. um I'm just gluing each letter on the front of the box now I'm just putting up my Newton wood stamps sorting them by each type on each box so the forks and the spoons and the knives and I love that they still are disposable and recyclable.
They are biodegradable if you throw them in the landfill they won't last forever unlike plastics now I'm going to use the nautical ropes from Dollar Tree anyway. I'm just cutting small strips so I can arrange them in a horseshoe shape. each end and then those will be my handle so if I need to move this I can also have the protractor handles so it's best to use a lot of hot glue or e6000 again for a stronger hold and the project. It's done, how it's set up, I've prepared it for spring with my bunny pottery in there and also my bunny plate and a bouquet of silk flowers from Dollar Tree.
Okay, for my next DIY, I won't be using the cube boxes from Dollar Tree anymore. This time I'll be using the wooden plaques or frames they sell at Dollar Tree to create a display case, so check the description box for details on materials. I'm going to be using these two wooden plaques from Dollar Tree so first I'm prepping each one so the first one on the left I already prepped by removing those triangular corners that hold them together and it's so easy you can just take them out of the frame of course. You will disconnect the corners, but after you remove the triangles and then you can also reconnect the corners using hot glue or wood glue or e6000, so preferably use hot glue.
I have my Gorilla wood glue and my hot glue here to make sure I can attach it faster. I use hot glue for In these corners and later for most of this project, I will be using my Gorilla wood glue, so I'm going to put the links to all of these products again in case you're interested in the wood glue that Do you sell. on Amazon I have the description box that has all the links anyway I'm just going to use a flat instrument to scrape off the excess glue so you can use a knife or any applicator there so voila I already removed the corner because I would need space to create my trays because this will be a reversible project to create the two levels.
I'll use these wooden dollar tree rulers. I'm just peeling off those sticky parts with the measurement and leaving just the wood. Partly I'm using my Gorilla wood glue to connect each corner and then on the right side of the wood glue I'm putting a little bit of hot glue and the reason is that it can put the pieces together quickly with heat. glue and then the wood glue will be able to give you a stronger hold or a stronger bond, so I'm just going to use those and use two rulers perpendicular to each other to create a corner to hold these two together. black pieces of wood together now you can also use the painter's sticks that they sell at home improvement centers I think they cost about 98 cents for 10 pieces and they are the same length although I find the rulers wider and at least they are too even at each end unlike the head tubes they have one end that has a bend at the top anyway i'm going to do and repeat the same thing at each corner so i'll do the bottom first and then make sure that they are connected and as you can see, I'm also applying my wood glue where the two rulers are going to connect and then I'm just going to place or place the other board on top so that's my top level or my second level, like this I'm going to move this around a little bit before it dries again.
I need a little bit of adjustment here to make sure they are in the right place before I dry them overnight, as you can see I have to remove the top again and then apply hot glue so that will at least keep it there temporarily and then the glue for stronger wood it will keep it in place so here it is after drying overnight so this is a reversible display stand where I can use both levels. So now I'm going to go ahead and paint it before I paint. I'm going to continue putting a little bit of glue or my hot glue inside the hole of the rulers.
You know there are holes in there so in addition to wood putty you can also use clay or You can also use silicone coke and they also sell them at Dollar Tree so here I'm just using my chalk paint, you don't need to sand the surface much. of the areas you are going to paint, but it is up to you if you want. do that, but because I want to make it a little bit rustic or a little bit worn, I didn't want to make it a little bit softer than it is and then I just apply a couple coats of paint and then dry it. between each layer I'm now going to place my popsicle sticks or craft sticks, these are the jumbo crab sticks from Walmart, they also sell them at Dollar Tree and I'll link them in the description box below because sometimes Walmart runs out of stock.
These giant sticks, I think Dollar Tree started selling them, but I haven't seen them in my stores, so I just marked the lines to cut them to the right size to fit inside the frames and this is kind of an estimate. that or look at things and just cut everything out so first I used the first stick as a template and then I cut each one the same size and then I applied hot glue to adhere each one to the frame and that's it I'm not going to go. To continue painting this, I like the natural finish or giant stick look and it has more of a farmhouse style to it in my opinion, so I've done the same with the other frame and now I want to add a little bit.
More stress look so I'm adding this nutmeg brown paint using my sponge applicator to give it a worn look or finish a little more rustic or even distressed so I also followed up with a dry brush technique to spread the paint and it depends up to you if you don't want to do that finishing. I like it to look rustic like I said or worn and here is the final result. I really love it, especially this bottom part where I'm showing the kind of overlapping look of those sticks, but you can also reverse it and use the smoother one.
The painted side also looks great, but again my favorite is the other one with the sticks, so here I will be assembling or decorating it. with some of the items that I have made in the past in my other projects and all of these are made from dollar tree items and now it is decorative and also functional so for example if you want to place this above your bathroom vanity , you can use it to store your face towels as well as your bath salts or soaps as well as lotions and anything else you might need for your bathroom vanity and maybe even hold some books at the bottom so maybe keep the heaviest items on the bottom and on the top are the lightest so again like I said here on my channel I prefer to wear or make things that are practical so if you can use this as a home decor organizer, it will be great, so this next DIY looks like a side table for To be honest, I want to say that I am very proud of making this, I think it's already been a year, and we are made of this wooden plate or particle board frames they sell at Dollar Tree and these are larger than the ones I use.
In the clip above, this measures 8 inches by 10 inches, so it's an 8 by 10 frame, no additional tools required again. I'm going to use hot glue or e6000 and even gorilla wood glue so I think about what I'm going to do. Here I'm just going to use a combination of e6000 this time plus my hot glue, so here I'm just going to place one of them on the bottom with the design facing up and then connect two. other frames or plates and then I'm just going to align them so that next to one of the frames that I'm going to place on the bottom, I'm applying hot glue and then I'm just going to connect the bottoms with the size aligned perpendicularly , so I'm just pressing to make sure they stick like this and I'll do it on the opposite side as well, so that's how it turned out, that's my base and again.
It's still a little wobbly because I'm still going to add a little more glue, so I already applied my e6000 and then I applied more hot glue to make sure this table, side table or display case would be difficult to hold, so for me I put the upper part. I'm applying my hot glue now on the sides as well on the shorter sides and then I'm just going to place it like this, it's almost like a two person job, someone needs to hold it, but Since I'm alone doing a lot of my projects, I can show you too that It is doable if you are alone, use the hot glue to make it dry fast and then apply your e6000 along with it so it will be a much stronger hold now as you can see it is still a little wobbly but later you will see it will be more straight and stable, so I keep applying my hot glue again to make sure everything is connected well and in all the cracks. that I can see in all the seams or gaps to make this a much stronger hold and then there on the top or side of one of the frames I'm already applying more hot glue and I'm going to put another plate. there so I'm applying my glue liberally and then at the bottom of that frame, I didn't show anything else off camera, I applied e6000 so it can cure overnight and it will have a much stronger hold and then I'm repeating.
The same on the other side or the opposite side and then on top. I'm going to apply it on the side again, so I put it on its side so you can see because my angle didn't really show the top, so I just flipped it over. on the side so you can see I'm placing the top of my side table adding my plate there on the top aligned with the one I put in the center or the second tier again adding more hot glue now this There's going to be a lot of glue application , it's going to be a little messy because this is the only way I can show you that you can actually build something using just glue without using carpenter's nails, but if you want to use carpenter's nails, of course, do it, that's actually the harder way to do it, but for us craftsmen, most of us don't use those power tools or even a hammer and nail, so then the hollow part here was actually thinking I'm going to use that. like a hidden compartment so I can make it as an organizer, but I decided not to do that so I can make it stronger, so I put it back on its side and then I'm connecting more frames, so I'm applying my hot glue to the edges of the one I glued before and then , as you can see on the right side, I already placed one and then this one I amplacing on the left side as well, so actually at this kind of angle you can use it as a horizontal side or a horizontal loading table, but I really want it to be vertical.
Look what I'm trying to do here. I'm making it more stable by bending the side frames so that those hollow parts that you'll see on the left and right sides will be covered or folded which will make them a stronger system or piece of furniture, so I'm building furniture here with just my glue and there frames that I just want to show you. I challenged myself to know that I really can. I build the furniture if I want now I'm going to do it again here as you can see there are a lot of glue marks on the bottom because I was doing trial and error before deciding okay this is the look I want.
So again I apply a generous amount of hot glue to the perimeter or the edges of that frame and then I'm just going to attach the other one and on the other one I have e6000 applied so it dries stronger and then here. I applied a little bit of hot glue on that side and then that's where I'm going to quickly attach my other frame, so you have to be really quick because sometimes they don't really line up and other times the glue dries really quickly. If you're not quick enough, it will dry out, so you'll have to repeat the process and here it is.
I already built my side table. Now I would have opted to fold as well. I moved those shelves up, but then I needed the space or clearance, so I think I'm fine with this again. I'm going to apply two or three coats of my chalk paint, the same chalk paint that I used on the previous project that I painted. Also, the nice thing about chalk paint is that you don't really need to be perfect at painting it and you know that's the beauty of farmhouse style too. It doesn't have to be perfect, as you can see, there are still some kind of seams or cracks. or something like where you can see that the connections between the frames are still showing, but I plan to apply putty later as I progress with my painting and in hindsight I should have done that before applying my first coat of paint, but excuse me my lack of good judgment, in my excitement to see this in its completed state or in its final stages, I simply decided to paint without adding my putty, but this is kind of a lesson learned and I hope you learn it from my mistakes that put the king Call first before painting.
So I'm going to put the caulk in later and show you that too. As I mentioned before, I am going to do the caulking after applying the paint, so I did the first coat of paint and Here I am using the all-purpose coat that I bought at a home improvement store, so you can buy it anywhere they sell home improvement items, like Lowe's or Home Depot or even Ace Hardware, and it's actually cheaper if you buy them at those places. but Dollar Tree also sells them in their hardware section for a dollar. This one I think we only bought for 78 cents at Lowe's, so I just want to show it to you seamlessly to show that it's much better and then apply two more coats of paint.
The finished project I really love how it turned out so on the bottom you can use it like this locker that I bought at Dollar Tree and then there's also a similar style and I like it because it has this kind of off sea. Foam green color. I bought this one at Target Dollar Spot aka Target Bullseye Playground years ago so I'm trying to put something in there that looks or acts like a drawer system and will also be like a storage system so on top of that. I even put an alarm clock, a handmade vase, you know, the buffalo plaid base with lavender silk flowers and then there's the dollar tree candle holder and the LED candle that I made earlier and in the center part or shelf of the I half stacked those three Dollar Tree boxes, they look like small suitcases.
I bought these about a year and a half or two years ago and I like the fact that it is expandable. You can keep adding or adding, whether you want it to expand vertically or horizontally. Furthermore, that basket is from the target location in dollars. I bought it for five dollars so it can corral or contain other things as well. Now this can act as a low side table. It measures 20 inches tall, 14 inches wide and eight inches deep so it can hold. pretty much again, like I said before, anything heavier, put them on the bottom, but look, I bought this lamp at the Target Bullseye playpen also a couple of years ago, I think, and it really stays on top and there are no problems , so I imagine this in a bedroom or a small house and look at the middle shelf, I put all my travel notebooks and in the bottom container I use it to store my travel notebook inserts, you know, the spares, the that I can still use to write in the future, yes, I really love them.
This is a lot, I mean, I'm very happy with how it turned out, maybe a little bit of a tedious process, but in the end it was very satisfying. For the next DIY, I will be using another wood particle board material from Dollar Tree and these are the fall signs and they also come during the Christmas season. You know Christmas signs and I love them. In this project I'm using five pieces of these wooden signs of any style because what I'm doing here is I'm also going to paint. I am showing you this here. I have e6000 and I fix everything to connect them all and then I will combine them with hot glue so they dry fast because those fix everything and e6000 you need to dry overnight, but for instant gratification. use hot glue to match so to hang this on the wall I'm going to take advantage of the hello part of this sign so you can hang it without any additional tools on the back because it's already hollow and I'm going to use two nails.
I can also use hooks, but I'm going to use these carpenter nails and then just hang them on the wall using the hollow part at the bottom again. I'm just going to level it out at the end, so I'm going to use my hot glue. applying hot glue here in this area that will be enough to cover the width of the support those two supports that I am using and then using e6000 I am going to combine them and each time I am using my thumb to press so that the glue will stick better to check Make sure the bottom one is level.
I just want to make sure it can sit on a flat surface like my work table here and that's when I know it's level, but you can also use a level. By the way, they also sell them at Dollar Tree, so what I'm going to do here is hot glue the one on top again, making sure that for you, who are going to do this, you're going to combine it with an e6000 because I don't want to be blamed if I drop it because I don't live in a warm humid area for the most part my hot glue is fine but I would suggest using commercial grade glue and then again just going to line up the edges until the end or the top of these two signs here and then I'm just pressing with my fingers like this and then for the middle shelf, I'm just going to look at it as well at the right height and then I'm just applying the glue and then connecting the last piece and then using my thumbs or fingers.
I'll just make sure to press so the glue adheres better and then let it dry for a few hours before applying. your paint, but here I'm going to try it and it looks great. You can probably lean it against the wall like I'm trying here and it should work too, but next time I'll hang it high. To paint this and I'm using this lagoon necklace, it's like teal blue and this is an acrylic paint from Apple Barrel they sell this at Walmart. I think it's like 47 cents a bottle, so I'm just using an artist brush that I love.
This color is very common and this one would be perfect for my craft room because as you can see even that organizer is almost the same color and if you've been following me here on my channel you probably already know that I lean towards this color so I just Paint it with a couple of coats of paint I think that's fine so what I did here was paint with one coat and then let it dry for a couple of hours and then apply my second coat of paint and here it is after painting . a couple of coats of paint I made sure to paint the areas that can be seen, including the bottom, I didn't paint the inside of the shelf because I'm going to put items on there, they won't be seen anyway, so here The two nails are just for carpenter nails and I just nailed them into the wall.
I made sure they were within distance of where I could place this, so I'm just going to place them there on top of each nail on each side and that's it. It's hanging now without me adding any hanging hardware and this is where I'll be putting my paint bottles again since I'm rearranging or redecorating this craft room. I want to put them all there on the wall so I can see them and here it is. I really love how it turned out for the next DIY. I will use them again. The signs I used above to create this cart for my k-cups, tea bags, and hot chocolate drinks using six wooden signs. connecting three together twice, so three and three because these will be two levels and this will be a cart.
I'm going to use a combination of hot glue with e6000 or fix everything as well and I'm just going to line them up together, I'm using this solution, everything you can buy at Dollar Tree in the hardware section, make sure you have proper air ventilation because this it really smells bad and you can get dc if you're sensitive so I just want to make sure I give them some caution so after applying a generous amount of fixol I also put a generous amount of hot glue to reinforce my connections and then press again with my fingers and then I use some binder clips. to adhere them better, so I'm going to do the same thing here on the side and I'll do this in fast motion and then I'll leave us some music while I do the other series as well after I leave them. they dry overnight so this is how they turned out and I have a three compartment rack so it's going to be two tiers and like I said before I'm going to use these two paddle board cutting boards or the paddle board cutting boards as a stand. plastic that I sell them at Dollar Tree, so I'm going to put them on each side here, combination again using Fix All, I'm going to apply it to the side and then I'm going to apply my hot glue as well, so I put the paddle board on. cutting board on top of my workspace so I can see the bottom lined up with my wood signs or my shelf and just making sure I line them up correctly and the bottom edge of the cutting board lines up with the bottom of my shell, so I'm pressing again with my fingers to make sure it's secure and at this point, because of the hot glue that dries quickly, it's going to be a little difficult to move it at this point, so I made sure that it already aligned to Next, I'm going to evaluate or look at where I'm going to place the top tier to have enough clearance, not only on the bottom tier, but also where I'm going to place my handle, so I just want to make sure I have enough clearance on both levels or both trays, so here I'm just repeating the steps I did on the other one combining applying my solution and my hot glue and then pressing with my fingers to make sure the tray sticks to the plastic cutting board and then while it's on In this position, I apply the fixative and hot glue to both shelves or trays and then I will place the plastic cutting board on top. and making sure that that board lines up with the board on the opposite side using my fingers again to press and make sure the glue sticks and then just trying to see if it's level and then drying it overnight.
The side that doesn't lift like this, after I dry it overnight, I'll paint it and I have this oxide-oleum chalk paint on linen. I bought it on Amazon and I'll link it in the description box below in case you're interested, I love this color and it matches the color of the cutting board, although I'm going to apply some to the cutting board just so It's a little more uniform, so I'm just going to apply it. a couple coats of paint on these wood signs or my tray shelves and here it is after applying a couple coats of paint and I'll probably do a little touch up later if I see there are some areas but I think it shows okay as it is, then I'm going to put my handle on.
I used the rolling pin I bought at Dollar Tree. I have to use what I have, but you can also use the plunger handle they sell. In fact, at Dollar Tree I have already used it in some of my projects, but since this roller is a little shorter than the width of my cart, I improvised by adding some cardboard cutouts on each side, so that is something that I cut from a shipping box, the one that is thick, don't use thin cardboard or it won't hold up, so this time I will use my e6000 and then apply my e6000 to each side. of my rolling pin, my extended and improvised rolling pin, and then I'm also going to apply hot glue for a faster bond, but the most stable bond will be provided by the e6000, so you should combine the e6000 with the hot glue. glue so it dries fast with the hot glue and then adheres better with the e6000, soput as much glue or be generous with the glue if you are doing this because again this will be the handle and will support the weight. not only the cart but also its contents, another option would be to use some kind of screw that can pass through and will be more durable than using glue, but the epoxy must also be durable, it is like liquid nails and here you can see me also trying to reinforce more through the hole where the perimeter or the ends are and yes, that should cover it well and here also on the opposite side here I'm doing this on the edges and not on the one that doesn't.
I don't connect to anything, so it's the connection that I'm reinforcing, then I press both ends with my fingers and then dry it again overnight. I'm going to paint my handle and to give it a little bit of contrast. I will be using this Waverly paint or chalk paint. It is the color of the elephant. I was originally going to leave it unfinished because I like the natural look of the roller, but I decided to paint it in gray or this elephant finish so I could use it as a contrast and since I'm going to put the buffalo checks on, they'll blend in better and here it is after a layer of paint and I'm going to show you again that it's Waverly's elephant gray here I'm just going to be tracing with my fingers where I'm going to place this wrapping paper and I'm just going to press it more like a crude method that I've used to be able to trace the indentation there, the edge of the cutting board and then just using my fingernails to mark, you can use any sharp object but I think fingers would be better so you can really feel where it is and then I'll just use a pair of scissors to cut and I'm going to use my brush and I'm going to apply this mod podge and this is what I'm going to be.
Placing this paper on my cutting board, I'm just applying a generous amount of mod podge and then making sure that when I put my paper down there aren't a lot of air bubbles. and then I apply mod podge again on top to camouflage On the ends of my handle, I'm applying this nautical rope to finish it off, that will cover any imperfections on those edges and to cover the holes, I'm also wrapping the piece of this nautical rope and then just to cover it. creating a button to cover it like the other one I made three years ago, that's how I finished it, so I'm attaching it and repeating the same style or steps on the opposite side and here it is, I love this one.
It turned out and it has three compartments on each level, so there's a total of six compartments and I'm going to show you that I'm going to use this to organize my k-cups, so I have these decaf k-cups that I'm organizing. Each row can fit up to six pieces of these K-cups, so for each tier I have 18 for a total of 36 and I love this style because it suits my style, so here I will be lining up all of our tea. bags of different flavors so it's up to you if you want to use it this way besides the k-cups so I kept the k-cups underneath on the bottom level and then the tea bags on the top level so just to show you how it's set up right now I have the ginger crystal drinks in sachets as well as some hot chocolate packets on top and then on the bottom I have my coffee pods.
The next DIY is another decorative organizer or a decorative organizer in one, so this one is There will be two iterations. I'm going to use this dollar tree thank you sign or full dollar tree and these three dollar target wood trees that I bought them last year and what I'm going to do is just paint the thank you sign or design on the top of this blank sign because I want to keep the buffalo check design on the side, so I'm just going to apply two coats of paint there and do the same with the wood sign. tree now, if you can't find these wood trees as a dollar target spot because they were purchased last year, you can find something similar in the dollar tree, those are the trees that have wood cuttings not as thick, but you can still make them hold by adding somersaults. blocks, so for this one I like, I said I would paint them with a couple of paints on the front and then on the edges of the tree because I want it to look like it's really covered in snow and I didn't want to leave any of that gold glitter there, though I didn't sand this anymore because the texture is perfect, it really made it look like snow.
Now for the back, I printed out this music note for Silent Night and that's what I'm going to do. I'm just going to trace the shape and then glue it to the back of each tree, so using my fine tip pen and a pencil will also work. I simply trace the shape of the tree on the back of my printed music notes. and then I'm going to do the cropping for each one using my artist brush. I'm just applying mod podge to attach each of the cutouts to the back of each tree and then I'm going to go ahead and trim the sides or any excess paper that's sticking out, so if you want you can apply more mod podge just to protect the paper and I'm going to go ahead and cover up the holes.
I'll be using these silver berries that I bought at Dollar Tree, so I'll just pick balls that are the same size and then hot glue each one to cover the holes on the top of each tree. I went ahead and attached each tree by heat gluing the bottom to make this a reversible design and to make it more interesting by adding more depth, I'm using my pencil or marker to trace or put lines on the sides, you know where those tree cutouts are. the trees so I'm just putting the lines there and also on the back so both sides and here it is I love that this one is inexpensive it's only five dollars.
I'm going to create a bottom part that will be a storage unit for this decorative item, so to make it functional, so what I've done is the block that I removed in the center, which is hanging hardware and I'm going to put an insert here and how I removed it from the sign and I'm using one on one side and the one underneath on the other. side I'm putting on this side, notice how I placed each block, I have half of it inside the sign and it sticks out a little bit, those two little blocks will act as a stop so when I put the top part I just created it won't slide so I'm going to go ahead and apply a couple coats of paint with the same oxide-oleum white chalk that I use to paint the top and I'm painting the inside, even the blocks and even the outside and the bottom, so You might be wondering why I had to place the blocks first before painting because sometimes when you use hot glue or even any type of glue it doesn't stick well when the paint is just applied or even if it's dry it doesn't really stick yet.
It's fully cured, so for the sake of time, this is how I'm doing it, so here it is, after applying a couple coats of paint, that's going to be my storage unit and I'm going to put items in it. Here to show you how functional it is right now. I'm using this as a pencil case or storage and now I'm putting the top on and it looks great so it's camo storage. No one would know there was something inside. There is enough space. for more information here and yeah, what I like about this one, using those two blocks, like I said before, will keep it from sliding so you can see it can move maybe a little bit of a centimeter there in the front and then in the back and then on the side maybe a little bit, but look, it keeps it secure.
I'll push it to the top right, see that it doesn't move and then I'll also make sure to also show you that this is reversible so you can use the music notes as the front or the one with the balls as the front and just lift the top and then you can use the items you have stored. I will show you other items that can fit inside, I only have these three nail polishes for now, but I will show you that even though it sticks out from the bottom tray or the sign, there is enough clearance from the inside of the top or the cover , so you have at least a little over two inches to play as far as you can. the height so I'm going to use this to store some candy or cough drops and mints and that's it I really love this because not only is it decorative it's also functional like I said it's a storage I'm just going to replace the design on the top, so that's why I just use hot glue for the most part when I'm creating things because I thought that, especially for seasonal items, I would need to store them and replace them and make them also usable any time of the year. year, so just remove those three trees and then what I'm going to do here is use this sandpaper.
I'm just going to smooth out the top because there is some residue from the glue. I'm also using the same sandpaper to smooth and also give an aged or worn look on the edges, so I'm just testing this sign. I bought it at Target Dollar Spot or Target Bullseye Playground a few years ago and it was three dollars here. I'll just show you this block of wood. You can use this as a handle if you don't want to add any decorations so you can lift it up easily, so I'm just going to use this damp paper towel and just wipe off the dust that's left. sanding and using my brush I'm just applying a couple coats of chalk paint and I'll also link in the description box below the link to the chalk paint so I have this box of essential oils that I bought on Amazon.
By the way, a sponsored video, so I thought I'll use this as storage for my essential oils. I have about 18 bottles here and this one actually fits, I think more than 20 or maybe even a total of 24, as long as you have those smaller sizes of essential oils like the ones I'm showing here, these essential oil bottles. I think the measurement for this one is about an inch and a half tall and then about a half inch thick for each bottle, so it could really fit. two bottles or two rows of bottles here and like I said, I have a total of 18 and I could probably fit another six bottles in there, a total of 24.
So I'm going to hot glue this wood sign, they also sell tree wood signs. dollar and it may not be the same style and may not be prepainted like that. I'm not going to change the paint on this one. I was actually thinking about painting it black but I like the gold and it's actually worn out and it's still a country house so I really love this concept that I can hide things and not just because they're unsightly but because Sometimes I just don't want to see the clutter and I like the fact that this is a decorative organizer for the following DIYs.
I'm going to use this Valentine's Day sign, this is the wooden sign that they sell at Dollar Tree, they come in different styles and colors so I'm going to use them for the first six of them and I was originally thinking of doing a two tier one and I just want to For Let you know that if you want to make two tiers, you only need two of these boxes to put this together, but if you want three tiers, like I ended up doing, you would need four of those wooden boxes and then six of the wooden Valentine's Day sign.
Here I'm just removing the stickers on the back of those wooden signs and then the boxes. I'm just going to paint them and I have that chalk paint that I bought on Amazon. I'll link it below. I really love this rust. -Oleum colored linen with chalk and it would really match the white signs, so I'm going to go ahead and paint the inside and outside of these boxes again, a total of four and I'm just going to apply a couple of coats, drying it between coats now if you notice that I'm not completely painting the inside part where those stars are or you know the openings or the cutouts are because I'm going to use that and stick the signs there and many times. when it's freshly painted it's a little bit harder to stick things on so I just dried them and then I didn't have enough white sign so I took these two blue signs and then I painted the bottom which I don't have the words written on and then also I'm painting those two sides, there whatever shows up, so the written words I'm going to put underneath or it's going to be the bottom because it's not going to show up the way I am anyway.
I'm going to organize them so I applied a couple coats of paint again and then let them dry so once everything is dry I'm going to go ahead and assemble them to create my three tier shelf so first things first. Go ahead and create the bottom and this will be the base so I'm going to use this gorilla glue, it's a wood glue and it's very strong, to be honest it's tough as nails and I've used it on many occasions. of projects and I'm just going to use an applicator here, I'm just using this bamboo stick or skewer and I'm just going to apply a little bit of glue to this part here that I didn't totally paint, remember I mentioned that before because once you paint something to Sometimes the glue doesn't stick and that's why I didn't want to paint the bottom of my wood signs so I'm going to go ahead and apply more glue to the other side as well.
If you notice I'm also applying some glue about a half inch up the side so I can adhere my two wooden signs to those areas, so I did that on both boxes and that way it will besafer. in both hands and left a ribbon or a space between those two wooden signs and made sure they are aligned towards the sides or the inside of the boxes. Now I'm applying my wood glue again on the top of this box here and on the other box as well because I'm going to place the two wooden boxes, one on each side, so I can lift them up so I can put my second level and also my level higher, so I am applying most generously. as I can because again this is going to be load bearing so I just want to make sure that it's secured so I'm just lining up the two and then I'm going to apply my wood glue again where I apply glue on the bottom. part the same way, I'm repeating it in this second level and my apologies for the fishing here because I'm also the videographer and the DIY person so it's a little bit challenging to do it alone so here I am.
I also apply more glue here on the side and I'm just going to place one side first. It's going to be a little challenging again. Here I am doing this first before gluing or placing it on top of the other box I am applying. First my wood glue and then look at this. I also just decided that I can apply more glue to my wood sign and that's it. I'm placing it and it's out of the frame. I didn't realize that the other side is outside. of the frame, but you'll see that the other side of these two wooden signs are also connected to the box on the opposite end and you'll see that I'll do it in perspective because I noticed, yeah, there you go, so I'm just doing I'm making sure have the gaps and to do that I make sure that those two signs again adhere to the inside of those two boxes so that they are flush.
So here I'm just applying more wood glue as liberally as I can. don't be skimpy on this because that's what's going to hold these things together because those wooden signs are heavy so this is where I'm going to place my last two wooden signs and then that's it I'll leave the spaces of Of course there will be a space bigger or wider on the top level because there is no barricade or wall that eats up that type of space, unlike those two levels, the bottom and the middle, so to also demonstrate the height I put on these two. mod podge bottles and then of course drying them Overnight I have placed some heavy items in those parts where I connected them and here it is.
I'm already propping it up the next day. This is the next morning and I put some of my items, my knickknacks, so you can use this on top. from your table or kitchen counter, on top of your desk or even on the floor, if you prefer to do it, this is perfect for small houses and studio apartments, those small and tight spaces like in the bedroom, you know that the possibilities are endless and I will do that. I show you towards the end of this video where I'm also going to place this inside a kitchen cabinet to show you how it will fit into it as an organizer so this is held up with my knickknacks with some of my items and this is a place where you can put back small books or display boxes, but I'm also going to use this to organize my spice bottles or my dried herbs, so here they are because they're the same height and the same height as the bottles. and the ones on the back will be harder to identify, so apart from the label on the bottle, I thought I'd also put labels on the top of the cap, so for example I use this one here because it's facing in On the back I will identify the cap and the sign on the bottle with what I am putting there, like cardamom, and since it is rarely used in our kitchen, it will not be on the front, so the rare spices we use we will put on the back part.
The back and front are going to be the most common ones we'll use, so I think I'm going to add labels to the top of the caps I finished off of and the back ones I'm going to add labels to the caps as well. in front of the bottles, as well as the top of the cap, which will be easier to identify them and the top level. I could have put more bottles there, but I decided to prop them up again with my farmhouse style decorations and put up the house sign. I really love how this one turned out and here I am also using it for my herbs or potted plants.
You can use it for succulents. I love it. I'll show you how I can use this inside the closet that doesn't. I have shelves that fit perfectly and now I hold a few coffee cups so the smaller coffee cups I put on the bottom so they fit more and I bought them at Dollar Tree so I was able to fit five of them and then on the level middle I put my biggest cups and those are huge okay and then on top I put some cookies but you can put more cups in there if you want or mugs so this became kind of my drink station organizer and this one works a lot and let me just To show you that this is a heavy cup, so I purposely placed the heavier cups.
I think it fits at least four or even four, at least three and those are heavy and this is a sturdy organizer. I just want to show you that I have space here too. For my coffee sugar creamer and my stirrers, next I'm going to make this beautiful plant stand, probably a little side table and I'm going to use these two wooden signs that I bought at Dollar Tree, they measure eight by eight inches square and I'm also going to use this one love sign. I also bought a dollar tree and I love that it is solid wood, unlike the other box signs, which is hollow in the back and is perfect especially if you are trying to create something that needs to probably hold some weight, so first I'm going to remove this cardboard on top.
I really left it a bit when I saw that the exact sign was already printed on the box, so I think they just want to make it a little 2d. That's why they added it as cardboard but I removed it and also wet it a little. It took me a little while to scrape it off with my metal ruler or if you have a metal scraper you can also scrape it off with a knife or any sharp object and I was just removing the goo also at Dollar Tree because of the way they sell those goo guns sticky so you can use those too but for me I'm just using a damp paper towel or a little bit of water that I sprayed on and then I just removed the glue now I'm going to put it together using my favorite Gorilla wood glue and I'll link it on description box below.
Also, this is not sponsored again. I only share with you the materials that I use and love to use and that have been tested now. Wood glue does not dry as fast as hot glue, but I urge you not to use hot glue on this one because it will be something that you may want to pick up, so you will need some wood glue. Now I'm going to hot glue this side here and also this side here, as well as any side that touches the side of the frame or my wooden frame. I already kept it intact or the wood would stay together instead of just applying wood glue because again it won't dry as quickly.
It may take a couple of hours for the wood glue to completely dry overnight. It's the best when it comes to drying wood glue or even e6000 if you're using e6000, so I'm going to do the same application here and since hot glue dries fast, I made sure to press really hard and fast to get a stick or secure connection so the strongest glue once it dries is the wood glue to hold this piece together and then the hot glue just a little bit of reinforcement in there to make assembly easier. I'm using it as reinforcement so on the opposite sides of each of the wood pieces I'm also applying some hot glue and wood glue, to be honest I was just trying out wood glue here and you'll see it even when I place the plaque or sign but then when I noticed that it doesn't really stick or balance I decided to also apply hot glue where I applied wood glue on the sides so since it doesn't stick and falls apart outside the chamber I added glue heat to the parts that will touch the sides of my frame and here it is after a couple hours of drying and then I'm applying my first coat of paint and then overnight I dried it and then I applied my second coat of paint the next morning , so here I'm just painting the legs and the top of the frame, but I'm not going to paint. the sides of the frame because I want the black and white theme and then I went ahead and printed this one from the Graphicsfairy.com websites, another free mod podge, my matte finish mod podge.
I'm also going to use it to adhere and place this sign. on top and then I'm going to apply another couple of coats of this mod podge on top to protect it because I could use it for potted plants. I think it will be perfect for tea. You know my cups of tea if I want to drink. a little bit of tea and maybe a little bit of dessert, that's why I chose that printout because it mentions something about that coffee as well as chocolate pâté and also syrup, so I thought if I'm not going to use it as a plant stand, I can use it too for my tea because I love to drink tea or even coffee or even chocolate or hot chocolate and then I'll have my pâtés and then to be honest you might not know so much about the syrup but more about the pâtés so again.
Like I said, I'm just using my brush here again applying a generous amount of my mod podge and then if you can see here, I'm also taking out some air bubbles that may have formed underneath just to make it show a little bit. softer I am not a decoupage expert. There are many artists online here on YouTube too, so you can check them out too. Now I have this brayer and I'm just using it or with a rolling pin and I'm using it to get out more bubbles that may have formed underneath to give it a more uniform look, so this is my tall type, like a mini side table with a plant stand and to be honest, it could also be used or set up as a flashlight without the glass, because this is what I'm going to do.
I'm going to use this other DIY that I'll link in the description box below. How I did this. This is just a dollar tree LED candle and I have another decoupage print that I got online. I place it there to make it look like a winter scene and I place it on a dollar tree glass base and then I put some twine on top to make it look more like a farm so it's like the lantern part in the bottom, you can put anything there maybe. a small book or maybe another small plant, but here is the other DIY I created earlier.
I'm just showing you that it can also be a plant stand. I really love the following. I'm going to put this organizer together without any tools, so this is a no-DIY DIY, I'm just going to fix six pieces of this teal, these are already painted in this color again. I'm using it backwards, the one with the signs or words is at the bottom, so I won't use any. paste it here because I thought I'm just going to show it to you and if I'm tired of using it I can assemble it somewhere else so I used a total of six to seven, I said six to seven because it's up to you how big you can actually use wider bottles in the front, so I used a seventh sign there, but you can only do six if you only have the smaller bottles, but for wider bottles or containers like the ones I'm showing here, I've used a total. of seven wooden signs so you can put anything there, organize your crafts or organize your makeup, your lotion and any other items that you may use and want to organize, so I hope you like some of that asmr that I left you. just you know, painting without talking anyway, here I'm showing you again two 8x8 wooden signs that they sell at Dollar Tree and I'm just painting them, in fact, it will be easier to paint if you sand them and I didn't.
To make the paint adhere much better and faster, so I painted the inside and outside with two coats of paint. Here I'm just going to reapply my wood glue so I can stick my wood signs together. teal signs that I already mounted previously on a ladder style organizer, so here I'm going to again apply some wood glue where I can adhere to the side of the box or the wooden signs and as you can see, end or the tip of each of the wooden signs and the bottom and the ones on the sides except the one in the center I'm also applying a little bit of glue where it will connect to this kind of side here where I also applied a little bit of glue Like this, This will be a two tier organizer since I am using these wood signs and have enough room for three wood signs.
I'm going to create this two-tier organizer that is deeper or has more space to carry things. on each shelf, even the bigger or wider things and I'll show you more towards the end and also what I'm going to use this for, so here I'm just going to wipe or wipe off any excess glue that's oozed out. It's a little bit challenging here because here I didn't use any guide, I was just looking at the spaces in between becauseI want to create that flat slotted look because I want this to have a dual purpose, not just a two-tier shelf because I'm also creating a box and I'll show you that later, so here I'm going to apply my glue on the top and, like You can see, my painting is not finished yet, this is after my first drying, but then I will apply more paint later.
I decided to just put this together and then paint my other layer of paint, so here I'm just making sure it lines up, so here I'm applying a generous amount of wood glue again to the ends. each of my Valentine's Day signs and I'm just looking at where I'm going to place them, making sure I put the two ends in first so one sign on the back I did first and then one side to the front and then the inside . I looked at the middle to have it in the center so to dry it again I will place items or heavy objects on top of where I connected them on both levels and then the next day I finished painting the two woods. signs on the side, I've decided to give it a little bit of contrast by using this other shade of teal a little bit brighter so there's contrast, so it's like a teal instead of the teal that I've used for the signs, so at least it's like a color block style or kind of dual tone similar to that glass base I painted in a previous project so the reason I like the slotted design is for my potted herbs and when I'm watering them, I also want to be able to make sure there is enough air circulation.
I'm showing off that dollar tree hooray sign that I bought about two years ago that was my color inspiration here, supporting it with a plate and bowl. and also some of my kitchen utensils, you know, the kitchen utensils, the wooden utensils that they sell, also the dollar tree and yes, I have some items here that I would display above my kitchen counter, so I'm just supporting here, I even have That bamboo cutting board I bought on the Lakeside Collection website on clearance so I think I only bought it for six dollars and I really love it so here are more pictures of how I displayed the things on this two shelf box organizer. and then I'm here showing it to you again and you know you can finish the paint here, to be honest this is not a perfect paint job, it was supposed to be the back, I used it backwards and I just realized when I was nice . to edit it, but I used this to hold it up with my plates and bowls in the kitchen, so yes, it can hold even those dollar tree plates on top again, this is load bearing, it's sturdy so it won't wobble, can be sustained. but of course check the limitation and don't be too heavy for the next one.
I'm just going to reposition it so I can use it as a box, so I'll just give you an idea of how. To do that I'm not going to connect them because that's not what I'm going to use it for, but of course it's a great idea if you want to do it this way, so I'll need three more wooden signs for Valentine's Day. By the way, I bought these signs online because I'm a DIYer here on YouTube so I often need more materials so I often buy them online with free direct shipping to my local dollar tree which is why I have these two in pink, they come in a set. of 24 is ok in a pack or that's the bald price and I bought 24 pieces and they come in four colors, some are in pink, some are in teal and some are summer in white and blue, so just so you know, this is not bought at a local Dollar Tree store, so I just want to show you where you are.
You'll be able to place the other three signs so you can create a box that will have a bottom now if you want to use this as a planter, to be honest, if you're going to put this outside in your backyard or on your front porch. You can probably put two large plants in here and you can leave the bottom bare. You don't have to put up three more signs like the ones I show here, but if you want to use it indoors or if you really want to use it even outdoors and if you want to create a taller box or planter, you can add the three signs so that the signs and the three Additional wooden signs at the bottom are optional, but like I said, if I'm going to use this so I can save on materials, I don't.
It is not necessary to add the three additional signs. I can just put the plants in there and if I water, then the bottom you know it's not really necessary because there will be dirt, there will be mud, there will be water, so at least you can save not only materials but also the bottom of the box and here alone I'm going to show you that this can be used to corral things in your house so you can use it as a filing box, you know if you have a lot of folders that you want to file, but here I will show you that this will also be a perfect organizer for crafters who a They often have a lot of this.
Can you guess what vinyl rolls are, there are many of them nowadays? of people have crickets or silhouettes and have many rolls of vinyl, so for those crafters who want to corral or hold their tubes or rolls of vinyl, you can use this to hold them and on my channel I have shown There are already several

ideas

on how to organize your sheets of vinyl, your vinyl rolls and this is just one of them especially if you have a style that you are doing in your craft room and you want it to be more farmhouse and I don't really like using so much plastic as I know some of my DIYs, my previous DIYs use them and here is another option, if you don't like plastic you can at least use these wooden signs so they can hold a lot of rolls and I don't really have much because I don't like cricket or cricket much court.
I have a cricut but I don't have a lot of vinyl yet but I know this will fit quite a bit especially for a beginner like me but even for those who are not beginners but those common ones that you use like black rolls then you can use this look here , these are the only rolls I have and they fit and I know I can fit a lot more and here is my cart that I bought at Target Dollar Spot a while ago. I think I bought it for five bucks a couple years ago and it matches the color so I hope you like what I did there too so that's the before as a box. which can be used as an organizer for your paper or roll or even probably gift wrapping paper as long as they are not too tall if you want to make two stacks of this to hold the taller rolls that will also work for the next diy I'm going to make another one display case and this time I'm going to use a different shape of wood sign or these are actually made from particle board from Dollar Tree and this is the finished project just so you can preview it.
It looks like a small or doll house, but I propped it up in the fall when I made this, but towards the end of this video I'm going to show you how else I'm going to display the things inside of it, so here they are. The wooden signs I bought at Dollar Tree are sold seasonally. I bought them during the summer. That's why the theme is about the beach, about swimming in the sea. There's even a seashell in each one. I'm going to use a total of six. The pieces measure about 10 inches square and I really love that they are sturdy.
They may not be all thick, heavy wood, but they are sturdy enough for this project. Of course, I'll use a pair of scissors, my e6000 and then also my hot glue and glue gun and my chalk paint. I'll use a brush to apply my chalk paint and then I need some ready to use white foam board that they also sell at Dollar Tree and I need my knife to cut it out. Using this Brown Wood Grain Adhesive Shelf Liner from Dollar Tree as well and then Nautical Floral Garden Decorative Ropes that I also purchased from Dollar Tree, I'm going to first remove this decor here because I want the wood to be flat so I don't need to nothing sticking out and then I'll also remove this rope here or the rope that's used to hang these pieces and then I'll go ahead and remove even the stickers on the back and then I'll paint. all over this wooden plate, so on the top, side and back it doesn't have to be perfect.
I'm actually doing a little dry brush technique here because again I want it to look distressed or distressed, that's why I didn't even bother sanding the pieces, if you want them to be smoother then go for it, just use the sandpaper. sand them and then dust them and then paint them, but here, like I was showing you, I didn't even have to get it perfect. I like the worn or even distressed look using my e6000 in combination with my hot glue. I'll connect the pieces, so first this one, I'll use it as my side of the house, so the bottom will be one of the pieces and then I'm just gluing one on each side on each opposite side.
I'm making a box first right now, like I said I'm combining e6000 with hot glue for a stronger hold, the e6000 would dry overnight or several hours and will be the one that holds this together for a long time while the hot glue already it will dry quickly, at least to keep the pieces together initially until the e6000 dries, so I put some notes in this video and as you can see, I'm putting something in the middle here to make them stand up. This is the trick if you try to work alone and then I put another piece on top of those two pieces that I attached to the bottom piece, so if you imagine this.
When building a house, you have one floor, the one at the bottom, and then you have two walls, one on each side, and then the one at the top will be the roof for the first floor and then it will also be the top of your house or the second level, now I use a foam board and using this cutter that I bought at Dollar Tree, I am cutting this foam board and I give it a quarter of an inch allowance on each side and on the top so that can To connect them all together I'm using the foam core board on the back in case I want to create a window and also it's wider than the board itself because you might be wondering if I could have used another board but unfortunately it's not So.
The case because I wasn't even really trying and there was a gap so I decided to use a foam core board. Now here at the top, those holes have a lead, so there's a total of four holes for these two pieces and just use. My zip ties to keep them in place for now, so I'm not tightening the zip ties all the way yet, just a little bit enough so I can expand them so that it has the shape of a roof, as you can see. I've been adjusting it to make sure it gives me that wiggle room or that leeway to do the roof pitch so I'm going to hot glue and e6000 here again by the way the e6000 is amazing when it comes to stronger hold , but hot glue is also really amazing when it comes to instant gratification, although it's not as strong when it comes to holding things together and that's where the e6000 comes in, so I do it on each end and then any cracks that If you had any gaps or seams, I tried putting as much hot glue in there and even e6000 to keep it in place, by the way, another reason I was using the foam core board as a backing in case I needed to create a window there. . one day I'll be able to open that even with the back door, that's why I use that one there.
I'm applying more e6000 here. I mean, working with glue is very complicated, but it's doable, so here I'm just tracing a rectangle shape. that's going to be perfect to fit on the back of my roof because it's shaped like a triangle so that's what it looks like and then I just applied hot glue there again to pack now that I squeezed the top together now that it's stable and the glue has dried The next day I tightened the zip ties and then applied more hot glue to the seams and then used my wire cutters to cut off the excess zip ties and then covered the roof.
I'm using this contact paper from Dollar Tree. I could also paint the ceiling and I went with this one because it really looks like wood and I'm trying to do some kind of barnyard effect I guess and that's the reason I use this one too and then I just applied it. To make sure there are no bubbles, I gave at least a half inch of allowance on each side so I can fold the bottom and then I just swipe the palm of my hand to make sure there are no bubbles and then I'm folding the bottom where I place a half inch excess and then I'm trimming the corners first down and to the sides, so I keep each side, the sides and the bottom of this roof at half an inch so that I would like to be able to create this kind of fold to have a finished edge, so after making my cuts in the corners and bottom, I folded my contact paper on one side and then repeated it on the opposite side.
Whatever I did on the other side I did on the opposite side and then to finish the roof because it doesn't look very nice now I tried to camouflage it with a nautical rope and then I just hot glued the nautical rope and I'm using my scissors to remove the loose threads so this is my rustic house of barn. I even covered the partback with my contact paper to give it that barnyard wood look. I'm finishing the edges with more paint here and even though this has a rustic or barn look to it, I want to make sure it also looks finished and not too sloppy and here it is, I love how it turned out.
I'm just using all of these dollar tree fall decor items or items by putting a bow on it. there at the top and even this lamp here is from Dollar Tree, this is my favorite season of the whole fall, so when I originally made this it was still early summer, I already made this decoration, I love it and I'm showing you the closure . -Look at the edges when I painted it white, it looks more polished or cleaner. I love it and just put it on top of a stand. I think it's a plant stand and I put it in the corner of our staircase landing and I can.
Use this to change decorations from season to season and I like that this one is also very functional and practical, not only for home decor, it can also be an organizer, so this one here can organize books and can also hold other articles. I can't prop it up with other things, but you can use this to probably put some rolled towels or folded towels on this bottom shelf and then probably some soap and bars on top, but right now, here again, this is another decor for spring and I really love how it turned out beautiful so here I'm going to add this light that I also have a dollar tree to light up the top there and that's it so I hope you like that one too. one of my favorite projects and I still use it all year round.
Next is another decorative organizer. I'm going to create a cart that can be placed as home decor all year round in any season and can also be used as an organizer, so I'm going to use this 8 by 8 square wood frame and I'm just removing this backing that they use to hang and this is the correct width that matches this dry erase paddle board, so I'm just going to paint the sides, the inside sides here using my Rust-oleum chalk paint. Now this is not sponsored. I bought it on Amazon and can link it in the description box below in case you are interested.
Now I'm going to do it. I also use these giant craft sticks and I think Dollar Tree sells them too, but I bought mine on Amazon and I'll link to them in the description box below again in case you're interested. I think Walmart sells them too, so this is I'm just making a little cut, because it's so thin, I'm just going to cut off one end. I'm not going to cut both ends so I'm just going to trim it to size to fit inside the back of my frame I'm just using a pair of sharp scissors here and the first stick that I showed you here I just angled it I just cut a angle using the same scissors and to make sure that it also fits that one that is there in the top corner, so that will be my first stick and then the rest, I will just use them in their entirety, except for the last two, the second from the last I also cut the angles, but since there is a gap there, a small gap, I am cutting a piece to size to fit.
I'm just using this box cutter and I'm just scoring it lightly and then until I can break it like this and then I'm going to cut or trim each end with angles so they fit that corner and then once each stick fits I apply hot glue on each one and then I glue them to the inside or back of the frame just using hot glue if so. new to my channel, welcome if you haven't subscribed yet, please subscribe and don't forget to click the notification bell icon so you don't miss any of my new uploads. I love making home organizers and decor the best I can. them in a project, much better, done, now I'm going to place my paddle board on each side, but before I do that I just want to make sure I measure my stick.
I just got this peg I think Walmart before you probably need a saw to cut it I'm just using my dollar tree some handy fancy scissors it's sharp enough and can cut through this peg here you can buy pegs at Walmart , as well as at Michaels or Joann's. Any craft store will sell the pegs so I'm just relaying this and then what I'm going to do before attaching or attaching the paddleboards. I'm drilling holes in each handle of my paddle board, so I'm just marking where I'm going to drill the holes. Now you can use a drill or screwdriver, a manual screwdriver or a power drill.
You can use that just for show. You can use these dollar tree scissors, this is actually very heavy duty and I've even used it to cut the ones you know, garden fences and even wire, floral wire and look, this did the job. I was able to drill the hole, so here they are. Now I'm ready to assemble the pieces, but first I'm going to glue them back together. You can use hot glue with e6000 and super glue or any industrial type glue, not just hot glue because it won't work, it will come off, but for demonstration purposes, I'm just using it here.
I'm doing the same thing on the opposite side with the other paddle board. Now I'm going to apply hot glue to the inside of the circle or hole I created and to the ends of my dowel to make it secure and then after I attach the handle I'm going to push it a little to make sure it goes all the way in without nothing sticking out, that's why I measured it beforehand. and then I also do it on the opposite end and then I also add more glue on the opposite side of my handle with the hole, you know, that opposite hole there so it's more secure later on. to show you what I'm going to use to camouflage the holes I'm just going to let it dry and then I'm ready to paint, I'm not going to paint the sticks that I placed on the back of the frame that is now the top because I want that It looks two tone and I like the natural finish, so I'm just going to paint with my oxide-oleum chopped linen white paint on the outside of my frame and then I'm just going to I'll be applying a little more paint on the paddle board. , as you can see, there's an unfinished side there.
I was thinking of leaving it like this in brown, but I decided to also paint it with the same linen paint to brighten it up a bit. a little more cohesive, let's choose this here, I'm just going to create a couple of bows to cover this or you can put buttons or whatever you want to use, so I'm going to go ahead and create something simple. ties to attach or glue here so at least the hole is not visible. I'm just going to hot glue it to camouflage it since this is a dry erase board, I just don't have a dry erase marker. right now, but you can also write messages here, you know, you can do it freehand, just seasonal greetings on each side and it's also functional, you can write messages on each side or reminders like a memo board, so I'm just adding a winter theme. accessories here decorations I love this as a decorative item, but if you want to make it a little more functional as a storage or organizer, I am using it to hold my hand and face towels, and I can put this in a guest bathroom or any bathroom inside of the house just to bring a little winter theme and organize the next DIY.
I'm going to recycle a little and here is the finished project for this DIY. I'm going to use this picture frame that's three and a half inches by five inches and I like this because this is the new dollar tree line. I love the finish and I like the fact that it has this metal label on the front so I will remove the insert that would also include this nice wood backing and it is also made of wood. I will put it aside so that I can also use it in future projects, so for this DIY I would need a total of four pieces of this photo frame and I am also going to use this empty shoe box for men's shoes and I suggest that size because it is wider or larger.
You can also use women's boot boxes because they tend to be larger because I think for this project the normal women's size won't work. Anyway, work now. I'm going to use the bottom of the shoe box as a base to create this organizer. As you can see, there is a space in the central part. I'll use these hardwood stakes I bought for 99 cents. In store only, it came with five pieces in a package for one dollar ninety nine, so if you have a 99 cent only store nearby, you can buy it during the spring season or gardening season and this is the perfect size To fill the space between these pairs of picture frames, if you don't have any 99 cent stores nearby, you can also go to the hardware store or any garden center that probably has similar items, so like I said at the beginning, I'll empty these frames of pictures. just framing and removing the backing and at first I'll just try to bend the metal fasteners and it will be easy to manipulate with just my thumb, but you can also use pliers, in fact, later I'll show you what I ended up removing. them because I prefer to have a flat, more balanced back, so anyway I'm going to go ahead and measure my stick and it's going to line up with the edges of the picture frames, so as you can see here, I'm trying to measure it.
Same length or width, I have this tool that I use, it's called a miter cutter and I bought it on Amazon. This is really an amazing tool when you are doing wood crafts and you want to cut, this one does the job, but if you don't have this type of cutter, you can also use a hand saw,

hacks

aw or if you have a circular saw, very much better, but this one is amazing, like I said, it just cuts when you have to work with smaller wood, even cutting. Mitered corners for smaller frames would also work, so I'm going to go ahead and cut two more pieces.
I'm using the first one I cut as a template, so now I have a total of three, don't pay too much attention to it. These other two here I was originally thinking of framing them on the sides as well, but in the end I didn't need them, as I said before, it's easy to remove these fasteners. I ended up removing them all from the back of all four frames, then I'm applying my wood glue, this is a Gorilla wood glue, it's easier and better to adhere when dealing with wood using wood glue instead of e6000 or even hot glue so this is the perfect one for adhering pieces of wood so I just apply it with a skewer or barbecue sticks and just remove all the excess and then dry them for about a couple of hours or even less and then I'm also going to go ahead and add some popsicle sticks or craft sticks to make sure my connections are secure and stable and then I'm going to again apply some more wood glue to the wood pieces that I cut earlier to connect them all together and connect them. to the frames at the bottom of these two frames here and Then I'm going to apply hot glue to the top of these other two frames that will be the bottom and I'm going to connect it to the bottom of the piece of wood that I cut.
I'm just cleaning up the excess glue that's oozing out now. With this box empty, I'm just testing it after drying my wood pieces and they stick together perfectly like I said and now I'm happy with the width, which is why I didn't need the two longer woods, but if you want to have them. a wider look, go ahead and do that, but it wasn't necessary because again it can overlap more and I prefer it to look flush, so what I'm going to do here is use the lid of my shoe box and I'm going to cut them into pieces, so first I'm going to mark the height of this piece and I'm going to place them as dividers for my shelf, so I'm just going to mark them with a pencil and then I'm going to use my cutter. with a box cutter or known as a knife or doing.
I'll cover them, they won't look as ugly or rough on the edges, so by the way, you can also use illustration boards or posters if you want to do this, but I'm just using what I have because I want to cheer you up. to recycle things so anyway I've measured this and this is the perfect length and then I'll go ahead and make the one that's shorter so I put in my vertical and now this is the horizontal that I'm just measuring. the width now, my advice to you, measure twice and cut it once I did it incorrectly, instead of cutting right, I cut it off a little bit, but that's okay, I'm going to solve this with extra material that I had left over, like this I realized my mistake there, but it's okay, it's not a big deal because again, this won't appear anyway, they'll just be the inner part of my project, so here I just mark the center of the two pieces and then I cut a slit in each one. leaving about half an inch on each one and then that's where I connected them as kind of an intersection, I cross them, I connect them and there's still a gap on the sides, but like I said, I'm going to solve that and here I'm just straightening andmeasuring it and again trying to test if my lid would fit well, so what I'm going to do is also use the remaining parts of my lid and I'm going to go ahead and use them to hold up my shelves, so I'm going to go ahead and cut that edge or strip to stick it in the center of my empty box.
I cut this one down to size and then I'm going to hot glue it and then I'm going to place it in the center like this and then I'm going to do the remaining pieces again, like I'm going to create a perpendicular or a cross and then I'm just going to hot glue them in the center here, this will offer support additional for my shelves and then my remaining piece here. I'm going to cut them into smaller pieces of equal height and that's the one I'm going to use to fill in the gaps, in fact, even if I had a good measurement before, I'd rather have an extra support like this. to make it a little better, I glued those two pieces together again, one on each side, like this and now I'm going to go ahead and check this to measure and see if it fits perfectly and it does.
Go ahead and apply hot glue on this side here and that side there and then I'll go ahead and glue it to the excess cardboard that I've placed and then I'll go ahead and straighten it out making sure everything lines up correctly and then I apply more hot glue to make sure it lines up properly. connect well if there are gaps this is where I'm going to apply my glue to secure my shelf now I'm going to add this gorilla tape to go with you I can also use electrical tape just to cover the shelves so it looks much better because again the edges are a little rough when I cut them.
I didn't make a smooth cut, so I'm just using this to cover the edges. I can also use washi, but since I have this on hand, my husband bought it, it's in his toolbox, so I borrowed it and told him I would use some and it worked well because my shoebox I won't use. By the way, I will be painting because I like the finish, I like the matte black of this box and also the interior, I like the tan color, so the combination or contrast of black and tan really suits me and that's it . I can start putting this together or putting the top on.
I placed this block that I got from one of my projects that was left over from those box signs I've been using. You can also use obstacles. Two of them just put them in the center where the shelves intersect just to provide extra support because there's a gap there so I'm just going to hot glue the edges of my empty shoe box which isn't too empty right now because I attached my shelves and then I'm just going to Go ahead and attach my wood frames. You can also use e6000 if you prefer a stronger hold but I like to use hot glue whenever I can as it also provides a strong hold depending on the material so the combination of the cardboard and wood with the hot glue works good.
Wood glue would work fine too but the reason I'm using hot glue in case I need to take this apart will be much quicker if I want to remove the backing and it will work fine. Look, in the end it's a lasting connection. Now I'm also off camera putting in some extra or leftover stuff from the lid of my shoe box and putting them where there are gaps on the top shelf because as you can see this isn't really flush. the middle part, so I'm just adding them to make it look better, but like I said, this one would hardly show the inside because it will be covered with things that you're going to put in, so here I'm just adding. more hot glue on the edges or connections to secure it much better and I'm done so I noticed a gap here when it dried and that bothers me.
I don't have wood filler, but I do have some. putty and that works well too, so just my advice to you, if you have gaps and you're working with wood, you can use that too, so I'm painting the three pieces of wood that I cut earlier with my favorite acrylic paint. my brown nutmeg per apple barrel and I'm slowly and carefully painting those three pieces of wood. I was previously thinking of painting them all the same color, including the frames, but I like the finish of the frame. I like the contrast of the light wood on all four frames and then flanked by the nutmeg brown.
By the way, the nutmeg brown matches the tan of the box I'm using, the shoe box, the inside matches perfectly, so I'm also painting the edges to give it a more finished look. I love the color scheme of the tan that goes with the nutmeg brown and then complements the black and light wood. Next, I'll go ahead and insert some labels inside the label holders that come with or built into the photo frames, so I printed four labels to identify the contents. I'm going to use this to organize my pens so for this one I'm going to use this for my infusible for my cricut and then to the right of it the crazy art pens that I have and then on the bottom left I have chalk paints or chalk markers and then on the bottom right I will be putting or placing my calligraphy pens if you have copic pens or any pens for journaling you can also use this so I am just using it for my growing pen collection.
It has a little bit of an angle here, it's perfect for pens, that's why I made it that way so that the pens not only lay flat but it has a little bit of a tilt or angle so that the ink also goes down a little bit but not too much. I don't know if I'm making much sense here, but I'll just show you. When I put all the pens in, as you can see, there's a slant and the way I put the pens in, the bottom or the tip will be on the inside of each of the compartments, like that, the ones that stick out.
I could see that they are the bottom parts of the pen and this will allow the ink to flow better when I use them, so this is the final project. I'm using it again as an organizer for my pen collection, but there are many other uses. what you can use this for, but for me I'm using it because I love journaling and I like coloring books and I like using different colors of pens, but I'm also showing here that you can use this maybe for your cards. grades. Separate them by seasons or occasions If you want to save birthday cards or blank cards for any season or occasion, of course, I didn't redo the labels anymore.
I'm just showing here that it can also hold blank or blank greeting cards. cards too and for the last DIY is my piece, the resistance, my favorite from this line for this DIY, I will use this empty packaging box that came, we received a gift of flowers from a friend in Ohio and I thought the box is something durable which I will be able to use as an organizer, so I first cut the lid making sure to cut it straight at first. I left about a quarter inch in there just to see if I'll be able to use it as an organizer. support later I will use these four wooden frames from Dollar Tree.
This is a 3.5 by 5 inch frame. It's a new frame that they came with and I'm telling you the material on this one is really amazing and I like the fact that. It already came with its own label holder, so what I'm doing here is going ahead and removing the inserts. I'm going to keep the glass on each one. I also saved the three fasteners just to give It's a little bit protective, while I'm also going to hot glue the edges that connect the glass to the inside of the frame so you'll notice that I didn't put the hot glue on first and then put the glass back on.
I just did it. or I used it to seal the gaps or the gaps and it works fine, so I'm going to go ahead and do it on the other three frames as well, so now that I have them I'm going to go ahead and cut my pieces of wood. In my previous DIY I showed you that I bought a set of five stakes or wooden stakes or garden stakes that I bought for 99 cents, I only saved them for a dollar ninety nine, each of the stakes is about half an inch thick, so now I'm I'll measure it along the frame and when I measured it with my ruler it's about 6 inches long and I have this miter cutter that I bought on Amazon and I use it whenever I cut or work on smaller pieces of wood so I cut it to size and what I'm going to do is go ahead and cut several of them, actually a total of seven pieces.
I'm also cutting or trimming that quarter inch that I left the overhang that I thought I might need, so now the two sides line up, so I'm going to go ahead and apply my Gorilla wood glue to the pieces of wood that I cut out and then apply them and connect them to the frames so there will be a piece of wood between the four frames and then towards the end both opposite and I will add an additional piece of wood so there will be two pieces at the beginning of the frames and then at the end there will be two pieces.
Also, whenever the glue dries anything that oozes out, I wipe it off with a damp paper towel, so I also apply the glue to the side of the frame of this and then glue it to the piece of wood like I did. Like I said before, they will all be attached side by side and there will be a piece of wood that I cut between those frames, so I attached them all. You'll notice there are two pieces of wood on each end because I needed those to fill the gaps to cover my box and I'm flanking them with heavy items, so on the right I have my organizer for my tools and on the left are my journal organizers.
Next, I'm going to go ahead and cut out some cardboard to Fill this into a level corner here or finish and then I just hot glue it in place, it doesn't have to be that flush, I just knead it so that it has a smooth surface that doesn't have big spaces because What I'm going to do is go ahead and cut out my popsicles or craft sticks. These are the giant sticks that I bought at Walmart and I'm just marking each end where I'm going to make my cut because I'm just going to go ahead and hot glue six pieces of this to the side so it looks more like a cardboard box piece. wood, so I'm going to go ahead and use a sharp pair of scissors to cut my first stick on the lines and then I'm going to go ahead and try the size and if it works, I'll use that as my guide or my template to cut the other pieces, so I need a total of 12 pieces of giant sticks again, you can get them.
In one they also sell them on Amazon and Walmart. I think it's like 98 cents for a pack of 20, if I'm not mistaken, Dollar Tree sometimes sells them too, so anyway I'm going to go ahead and apply hot glue and then. attach them all to the side, six pieces on one side and six pieces on the other side just to cover everything and here it is, this is what it looks like after gluing them to the side and then I'm going to move on. and I set my forehead, so that's when it hit me. I think I should have done something different at the beginning before hot gluing all my glasses to the frame.
I should have used the frame as a guide and then maybe after connecting all the pieces. With the wood glue I should have saved it for the last part to heat glue the glass, but you know, sometimes every time I do my DIY, that's when I realize I did an oops here, but this is how I do it. I'm going to solve. I'm going to go ahead and place the inserts as if they were placed where they were supposed to be before, but I'm not going to glue them in place, but I'm going to put glue dots.
You can also put double sided tapes or maybe even apply. a little hot glue, although it dries too quickly is probably not a very good idea, but anything that can help it stick quickly, so I stick dots or double sided tape and then just line up the side where I'm going to make my cut. to the frame and then waiting and it worked here it is again you don't have to do this kind of tedious process because I made the mistakes for you and what you can do is get it right when you do it so I'm applying some hot glue to keep each one of them straight because I'm going to use them as a guide so I can mark them with my colored pen and then I'm going to go ahead and make my cut as well, so I'm using my ruler as a guide and then I'm tracing with my colored pen on the sides now if you notice that I'm just tracing the three lines on the bottom and then the two sides, but not tracing the top because it's going to be very thin anyway, what I'm going to do is just cut it off, so I'm just using my box cutter again.
You know, this is just a simple exact knife or a box cutter and I'm even pointing out that you can make an x in there if you want, but I decided to do it and follow the lines like this, as you can see, I didn't leave anything out. If my box was a little higher, then I could have left more materials. but since it's going to be so thin it wouldn't matter anyway, now I'm going to reapply my wood glue in the spaces where my frames will sit or connect and you don't have to worry about the support.
Here, because I cut the top off, I'm going to show you that there will be support here as I move forward with this DIY. Make sure that when you apply the glue, you apply it generously because you will be connecting the frames, so be generous. with that, which is what I have done and then I will continuego ahead and then I'll place or place my frames on top of them, so make sure you act quickly. The good thing about wood glue instead of hot glue, it's not like that. It didn't dry that fast, so you'll have a little bit of time to adjust things and make sure they line up, so I dried it for about two hours and then hot glued the seams, as you can see here, to have a little more For safety, I'm securing it in place even though wood glue is already on my mind enough, but it always helps to have extra support so I've decided to add heavy objects again and tilt it back. the wall to cure overnight and I called it a day and decided to use the lid the next day.
I used every piece here just so you know so I'm cutting this one to size here and I've noticed that this is going to be the exact size that fits inside so I just cut it with my scissors and then you see there's a ribbon there, the white tape that's what I'm going to put on the bottom to make it more level and it's going to add a little bit more support to the bottom so I just trimmed a little bit on each end to make sure it fits securely and then I just pushed it down and that's it, now the tape doesn't bother me.
Not at all, I'm just going to leave it there because when I fill it with stuff it's going to be covered by the items that I'm putting inside, so now I'm going to go ahead and measure the inside and then create my dividers. Using the remaining piece of that lid, I measure it about seven inches long and then I mark this piece of cardboard the same size and then I draw lines to subdivide them and then that will be my guide when I cut. with my sharp scissors again so that's what I'm going to use as the divider and what I do is I try to make sure that the first one fits first and if it doesn't I just go ahead and trim it until the one is achieved. perfect fit as you can see here.
I'm still making cuts on each side and then what I'm going to do is whichever one fits first. I'll use it as my template. I have cut two angles. the bottom one on each side to make it easier for me to put it in place and then here I am testing where I am going to put the remaining pieces of wood, in fact I am almost running out of wood, but I know that to make this box safer I need two long ones, so I also cut them the same size. If you notice that I am not giving you the exact measurement because your box may be different than mine now.
I'm showing you another box here. This is actually a packaging box from Amazon that I'm using and I'm cutting them following the dividers because I thought the ones I cut before were too thin and folding them would be better and also camouflage. The decoration or printed part likes the color purple as well as some lettering there, so it hits two birds with one stone by camouflaging that, as well as providing the thickness, which makes my dividers safer, so I'm just using my scissors again to cut. I take these pieces out after hot gluing them together and then I'm going to go ahead and try them on to see if they fit the size, so I'm going to leave this raw, that's the reason I want it to look double sided. cardboard they're not actually going to appear once I fill them, but you can do whatever you want, you can put contact paper, any decorative paper or even paint the inside if you want, so what I'm doing here is I'm going.
I have to apply hot glue to the bottom and also the sides so I can secure each of the dividers in place. Next I will test where I will place my long pieces of wood and then see where. At first I will secure them in place. I was going to put this one here behind the frames, but then I thought maybe I don't need them there because I also want the opening to be very large. I don't want too many obstructions. so I'm going to place it on top of the frame, thus finishing that top part there and then I'm going to place the other long piece of wood behind it, so I'm just going to apply hot glue here and then I'm going to go ahead and place my long piece of wood, so I support it against the wall to make sure it is straight and then pressed either end or on top of the wood to make sure it is secured in place, unfortunately it was.
I can't take the pictures of those two little pieces of wood about seven inches long each to secure them in place or join them together on the left and right side of my box, one on each opposite end and then here I am applying. I gorilla wood glue on the bottom of my stick and then place it on top of my assembled frames, finishing it off like this, like I said I had more wiggle room or time with the wood glue so I was able to reposition it now that I have some . more smaller pieces of food that I need to cut so about three of them to make sure those dividers have a good finish too so I measured them about seven inches long each and then I'm cutting three pieces as a matter In fact, one of them will have a slightly pointy end because I'm running out of wood pieces and then to attach them to the top of each of the cardboard dividers, I'm applying wood glue to the bottom of each one of them. my wood pieces to finish themDoing this makes this box look more professionally made or more sophisticated instead of keeping or leaving those dividers exposed.
You can also use popsicle sticks to top them or even skewer sticks, as well as use those barbecue skewer sticks that will work now too. Speaking of wooden skewer sticks, I'm also using them to fill in the gaps here on the side just to frame my craft sticks, so I cut four pieces on each side to create the gap fillers made with the popsicle sticks, like this which I put them on each side, after drying for about a couple of hours I went ahead and applied my first coat of paint, by the way before I applied this first coat of paint I putty the seams so it wouldn't show too many gaps Because with the wood there were some gaps there that I had to cover with the seal or putty.
Now you can also use wood filler if you want, if you have it, but the one most available to me was more putty that we used to seal. bathtubs or sinks and it worked well. What I was using is the white finish and they sell that too. A tube costs only a dollar at the Dollar Tree, but it's even cheaper if you go to home improvement stores that sell only. them for about 70 cents each, so just a tip for you. What I didn't seal here is the space between the sticks here because I wanted it to look like it's overlapping, so I left a little bit of gaps. in the middle and I love it and then I'm just dry brushing my chalk paint.
I'll link in the description box to some of the items you wouldn't find at Dollar Tree. I bought them on Amazon, like the chalk paint. wood glue, even my cutter in case you're interested, because sometimes they ask me what I was using and want to know where I got them from, so anyway I'm being careful not to put paint or drop paint inside, so I'm also trying to clean up any paint stains left on the iron tag or metal tag holder here to make sure it's clean, so right now I'm just using a damp paper towel if you haven't seen some of my DIYs.
When I was painting some old items I had used, I also used the wet paper towel method to give it a slightly more aged look. Okay, giving it a worn look, but here I'm just wiping the glass first with my wet towel and then I'm using it to also rub the paint so that the paint isn't really so farmhouse like I said before in my other videos , who wanted to look a little nicer. aged that way so this is what it looks like even the sides look overlapping I love it and yes so I'm not painting or putting any contact paper on the inside because once I fill them they won't show up and I just I'm showing the back, now I'm thinking maybe I'll go ahead and put burlap on the back and bottom, so I'll cover them with burlap or maybe Dollar contact paper.
Tree or Walmart, but I'm still deciding you can do whatever you want, but right now it's not really necessary because I'll be leaning this against the wall or it won't be something you can see, so if you want. to save materials, it is not something that you are going to sell or it is not something that you are going to give us as a gift. Here I'm just going to prop it up with my journals and my stickers to get the necessary items I need. Journaling and I love that this can hold or hold so many things so I'm just showing you a few examples here in this section.
For example, I have this type of

organization

of my cutting dies. You know the metal cutting dies and I place them. Those gorgeous clear envelopes you can get at Dollar Tree. I also have my travel notebooks there that haven't been used yet and I'll put them there in case I need to fill out my journals so they are very accessible. I bought other paper pads. that I bought at Dollar Tree as well as all these note cards or greeting cards and you can also see from the glass the designs so yeah I really love that this is very functional in case you're new to my channel.
I haven't seen this one here. I also use the same frames. I only painted those wood pieces with nutmeg brown acrylic paint, so maybe I'll paint them white too to match this because I'm thinking about keeping it. For my craft or journal table, the six-by-six paper pads also fit here, as well as the 4x5 or those smaller ones that are also sold at Dollar Tree or Michael's or any craft store, and this is how I organize my paper pads. I even put my 12 by 12 paper pads upside down because it's easier to find the designs that way, I don't even have to pick them up, all I need to do is use my fingers and then flip through the pages and then I can.
I look at the designs and if I find something I like, I'm going to go ahead and pick it up, so just an extra tip to make it easier for you to organize your paper pads below. I'm going to go ahead and use it to organize or store my potatoes, my greens or root vegetables that don't necessarily need to go in the refrigerator, like these red potatoes here and then also these gemstone potatoes, those are the mini potatoes, as well as lemons and limes or even garlic or anything that can be stored. outside the refrigerator or should not be stored inside the refrigerator.
I like that the glass itself will allow you to see what's inside, but other than that, you can also print some labels from your printer, like what I did here. I added tags too. Identify what is inside the storage box I just created. I love the farmhouse look and like I said, I left the interior there just to be a little more rustic rather than putting something in there that doesn't match my decor. I love it. and finally I'll show you that this will also work as a pantry organizer. You can easily identify what's inside. You don't have to put the label anymore.
The label is optional, but thanks to the clear glass in the frame, you can easily identify the contents of each of the compartments, such as this kimchi noodle soup, as well as the microwave popcorn, as well as these dark chocolate bites and at the end I will also put some chocolate milano cookies or cookies that we really love in our home, this multipurpose organizer can be used anywhere in your home, whether it is your home office, your craft room, your bathroom, your kitchen or pantry, anywhere you can fit a lot of things too, so I hope you all enjoyed this video and I hope you did.
It inspired you to recycle and reuse, especially nowadays when many things are ordered online and come in shipping boxes. You don't have to spend so much money to recycle them. You can use items from the dollar store or things you may already have on hand. the house combines them so I hope you enjoyed this video, if you did please like it, share it with anyone who might be interested in these types of projects and if you haven't subscribed yet, please subscribe and don't forget. to click the notification bell icon so you don't miss any of my new uploads, I will talk to you again in my next video, everyone take care and God bless you, bye.
