Step 1 is to gather all your tools three buckets with grit guards wash gloves wheel brushes foam gun bag of towels, clay bars, various cleaners, sealants and waxes, and a razor blade extension, to name just a few First fill the wheel bucket with raw wheel soap, then fill the wash bucket with foaming car soap and a few extra boost squirts for your first car wash. MO boost is the car wash additive that will combat hard water stains, increase scum or scum, neutralize road salt, and leave behind antioxidant corrosion inhibitors to deter future rust. This can be especially useful on your first wash if you have a phone gun, this would be the time to fill it in preparation for use to watch the full video of the anti-corrosion experiment on Ammo Boost.

Click the link above with your wash wheels and rinse the bucket full of water. Rinse the paint out of direct sunlight with a hose or pressure washer to hit it. Remove any heavy dirt and then lather up your paint, concentrating on really getting into the scenes as you'll be cleaning them thoroughly later if you noticed we didn't start cleaning the wheels first which is standard procedure because I'll be removing them later . For easier cleaning, however, if removing the wheels is not an option for you, no problem, clean the wheels first before rinsing off the paint and, following the steps below, let the foam remain for two to three minutes to remove heavy dirt, then rinse off any remaining suds.

Then wash the paint by hand from top to bottom in straight motions with a wash mitt. It may be helpful to have washing gloves in the wash bucket, one for the upper areas of the car and one for the lower rocker panels which tend to have a lot more dirt, this will help prevent cross contamination and possible scratches. Also, use this glove for the underside area to clean door jambs, fill gas trunk engine and hood jams, as well as for tight places like emblems, a soft bristle brush can be helpful to finally dislodge the embedded dirt.

Rinse the paint again, but at this point do not blot any remaining rinse water off the surface as you can use it as a lubricant if and I emphasize the word if you need to apply clay to your car next now that you have washed the car, rinsed it, but you haven't tried it yet, why haven't you done it so well? We're leaving standing water in the car because at this point we could potentially clay now before we even discuss that there are two quick things: one, it's starting to get pretty sunny. outside, so you also have to work fast.
Probably the biggest mistake in detailing is the misconception that you have to apply clay to the paint. You don't have to apply clay to the paint. If the paint feels rough, then you should apply the paint, but the only way you can do it. You can make the decision whether you need clay or not. You actually have to feel it and if you don't need it, you don't need it, so again, this is the most important question. I get most of those emails. It's kind of like thinking of Clay as the emergency room, you don't want to go to the emergency room if you don't have to, if you need to then go, but it's not 8:00, it's Tuesday.
In the morning, I guess I need to go to the emergency room, just like, hey, it's time to wash the car. I guess I need to clean it with clay, so if you ask me, the perspective is that I haven't played with my car in years, why? I haven't parked under a tree and I haven't driven in certain situations that require a clay bar so the crux of this whole video is you really need to understand when you're using clay because it's an abrasive okay so put it all on. aside, now suppose we need clay, how do you know you can feel it and you would feel roughness like there is a little bit here and there, but this car is actually pretty good.
I'll demonstrate it for you right here, so assuming it was necessary to play with the car, here's what you do. This is a plastic piece of clay that has a clay bar. This is what a real clay bar looks like. It's going to click into a bar correctly so I'm going to put that on the side once you take it and cut it into thirds it starts to look like that piece plays your hamburger so now I have a hamburger shaped piece of clay see that and you keep saying well why do we leave it really wet a really cool way to cook clay is not to use clay lube they have a special thing called clay lube.
I don't think it's very necessary, just put your hand in the wash bucket down here and it's the one we just saw, remember this wash. glove and take the wash, you could squeeze it out with your left hand, normally I would be standing over here and you're going to take your clay, wet it, so now it's full of full soap right in your left hand, come in. and now you can remove the paint with clay, now claim the paint, another lady, you know, the conception of clay is that you need to push very hard and you don't.
Clay works with friction, which means going back and forth very quickly without applying pressure now. the next step is when it gets all sandy and gross and you can see little dots and things in there, you're going to have to cook it, you're going to have to knead it, that's funny, you're going to have to knead it. get a nice fresh hamburger shaped piece, nice and flat like this and move on to the next area, this is how clay works but the important point is to only use clay for your painting if for some reason you have to, drop this to the ground and get little pieces of rocks because it's sticky throw it away that's how it works otherwise you'll scratch the paint so once you do that the whole car should take about 5-10 minutes.
The claim doesn't take a lot of time, it's not a big deal, it doesn't have all this hype that you know seems to be out there, so if you know this, you know 99 percent more than most, so use it with clay when you're done with clay if you don't need it. Brilliant. If you need it, go to the next step. Claim that your painting is not a very long process. A standard car should take about ten minutes to complete. Once I'm done with the clay bar, I rinse it with water to remove the soap and then put it back in the plastic container for the next use.
Afterwards, I give it a quick wash and feel for any missing spots and then rinse it once more in case there are any raised contaminants on the paint surface. This is probably overkill, but it takes about two minutes. The next thing you want to do is dry the paint without using ammo hydrate wetting for this first drying session because we will potentially need to buff the paint and we will definitely need to add a coat of ammo reflux primer in the future, so instead use a damp microfiber towel compressed air or a nasal blower remaining water with clean, dry paint remove the wheels one by one with a jack or with a quick jack system that allows you to do all four wheels at once without removing the wheels not possible Yours is totally cool, then follow the steps with your car wheels as best you can with the wheels off the car, rinse them a lot, then add ammo, wheel cleaner and agitate with the wheel brush and the Wheel wash mitt to clean the inner cylinder.
It is helpful to have thick foam blocks to avoid scratching the face and edge of the rim. These are also great as a kneeling pad while working. Repeat the same cleaning steps on the inside and then clay the barrel with an old piece of clay bar that will not be used again in the paint, then rinse and dry the wheels well, then apply two coats of ammunition reflex polish, clean and let cure while leaning against the wall while we work on the calipers and wheel wells again if you are not going to remove the wheels from the car then just try to keep the rims as dry as possible during the curing phase and skip Next step, although your brakes should be relatively clean, give them a quick rub with plum and Brut before drying them, if you have them.
Prominent calipers that are painted and clear coated like the ones on this BMW, then add two coats of reflection here and remember this area gets very hot so a consistent cleaning regimen is vital. Lastly, if your wheel wells are hard plastic, apply some amyl mud tire dressing. To enhance the deep and rich appearance, step seven is to correct the paint if necessary and obviously this is different for each car, some have no swirls upon delivery from the dealer while others have swirls all over after removing the plastic. My hope is that you can skip this step completely because you don't want to compound or polish, especially if it's not necessary, but if your new car looks like this new gt3 RS, click the link to see the step by step process of removal of swirls from new cars and after.
Closer inspection of our BMW here is a bird dropping stain or etching that needs to be addressed before moving on to the next step. Okay, before we move on to step 7, which is composing and polishing the paint. I want to back up a little bit and let's talk about step 6, which is the wheel. Now I made the full amount, which is a totally crazy listing for the car. I removed all the wheels and am putting several layers of protection on everything. I know many of you said that I. I'm not going to do that, I'm not going to jack up my car, okay?
I get it, at the very least, clean it, clean the wheels and put some protection on it and that's it. I did this part because it's fun and I know it. a lot of people will want to follow the steps so i did everything you choose what works best for you ok step 7 composing and polishing the paint. I'll put another link here, this is when I looked at the car when we first bought it and it looks fantastic. This painting is really good. The weird little part is when he took it home. I think we had maybe two or three days until he came here, whatever it was, and he was driving because he's excited. and it's an m3 and it's amazing, totally cool and a bird hit a bird bomb and he said it cleaned it really fast how long, half an hour an hour who knows but it didn't look like anything that's what he's saying so when I served Up Here, indeed, there is a bird bite, so normally, since I don't have to compose a polish, it is something similar to the clay part competition, if you don't need to play it, don't do it.
I made this. as an example just for everyone and the compound glaze we would normally move on to the next step, but it's going to be kind of an extra section where I'm going to show you how to remove the bird dye, so what's the The moral of the story The moral story is that we have to Protect the wheels and paint as soon as humanly possible. This look, so I mean, there's nothing to it, it's very, very, very sticky, which means there's no protection and when the bird hit it. It's only x2 the paint, so I'll show you the quick step-by-step process to remove the bird stain before moving on to step 8, so I'll complete it with the lights on.
The stain becomes harder to spot, so have a piece of tape to remember exactly where the damage lies Use a microfiber cutting pad on a Rupa's polisher Prime the microfiber pad with compound by rubbing the liquid into each fiber with your hand , then apply a small dot of compound place the machine over the stain speed 2 for approximately 30 to 40 seconds, this will vary from paint to paint, wipe off the compound with a microfiber towel and repeat these steps with a yellow Rubezh foam pad and then polish. Remember that polishing usually takes twice as long as compounding so take your time to remove any compound or sanding marks and every car and paint job is different so watch what the paint tells you while you are polishing on At this point the paint needs to be perfect either by restoring it or with a perfect finish straight from the factory, now is the time to protect the paint keep in mind that if you really need to make up and polish your car you will now need to use a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water to remove any remaining oils from the polish before applying the first coat. of reflex with a foam applicator pad, prime the pad with the product and squeeze the pad untilMake sure every pore is full, in the same way that wheels apply reflex and wait three to four minutes before wiping it off with a microfiber towel.
Reflex can be applied by painting the headlight trim and exhaust tips black and don't forget the door jambs and kick panel. Repeat these steps and add a second coat of reflection before letting cure for at least an hour while both the paint and wheels cure, let's focus on the interior and glass if you keep the original seat cover on the back you will use it in the future If you are dirty or wet or if you are going to hand the car over to your mechanic first remove the mats and lightly wipe them with cloth protector then leave them outside the car to dry repeat these steps for the carpet inside and the cloth seats Keep in mind that these products may be useful, but they are by no means perfect, so proper regular maintenance is much more important if you have leather seats, apply a mo mousse to nourish and protect their flexibility at the very least, focus on the driver's side seat bolster, as this will take the most abuse for step 11, focus on the glass to allow the carpet even more time to dry and for the reflux to be cured with a razor blade extension , slowly remove the window sticker using constant downward pressure.
It is best to tear or stab the window sticker, it will only make a mess if there is glue. After removing the sticker, add a light mist of glass cleaner and slowly slide the razor blade along the glass at an angle. 45 degrees. As you do this, the glue will build up on the edge of the knife and then wipe the blade with a paper towel and repeat the process once all the stickers and glue are gone, clean the glass using the three o'clock method towels, the first towel is called a disposable towel, this one picks up heavy trash quickly, your glass won't look pretty after the first step, but that's okay.
Next use towel number two which is a short pile glass towel, the trick is to spray the cleaner onto the towel and then wipe the glass, then immediately follow up with the Queen Microfiber Towel from Third to quickly polish off any remaining water that causes streaks or water. stains as it dries, repeat this process on the entire glass. Well, you're done with all the glass and you use the three towel method. I know you might go back and say "hey, that's a lot of towels, it'll actually save you a ton." time the first towel picks up a lot of that heavy debris that you don't want getting into the second towel, which is your beautiful, clean glass towel, and the third and of course you need to polish it to eliminate or lessen any possibility from getting those water spots, streaks or things like that, so interior glass is a completely different beast.
Basically, you'll use the same technique we used outside, but you'll add one at the beginning. Why do you do it so well? Many of these new cars have plastic or leather dashboards. What happens is they release gases and sometimes they call them plasticizers and they hit the inside of the winch. We've all seen it, it turns yellow and foggy air like what the hell is going on, it's a new car, well that's going to happen and that's common, it's normal, it'll happen over time, probably over six months, eight months, ya that these gases are released when the sun hits, you know. dashboard and heats it that type of thing so what we have to do is degrease that first remember a few steps ago if we had compounded and polished or if there was wax on the car and if you're doing that maybe it's not even a new car you're just doing a old car you want to do this completely in all these steps that's great but it has wax you have to remove it with 50 percent isopropyl alcohol and 50 percent water this is the mixture I have I keep it on the shelf I use it all the time to clean things, but you use this with a scouring pad.
I'll show you the steps in a second, you spray it here and the first step is to grease all the oils that are being released. from the board, then go in with the first towel, second towel, and third towel method and that will really decrease the streaks that you'll see at night. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about and just stay tuned. aware that this will happen regularly, especially with a new car, with these new plastic and leather dashboards, finally add the last layer of real Jala over the front and rear of the wheels and caliper, if you have access to them, too add a MOS skin on top of the previous two layers of reflection in the paint, layering skin on reflection is like putting a shell or windbreaker over your North Face jacket; it protects the fleece underneath or in our case it protects the reflex which in turn protects the body of your car for more information and the step by step process watch the video on how to apply the reflex maintenance interval at the end From that particular video, I finally added a quick coat of mud tire dressing to the wheels before taking them out to duplicate. -Check my work as I'm sure you know getting a new car is very important in the life of a car guys and an m3 is no exception this is amazing so obviously I put the wheels back on, I lowered it and took out the back. out of the garage and inspected the paint in the sun because now it's starting to get sunny and anything that's exposed, anything that's left, is going to jump right at you, so I did that and then I put the ammo stickers on the back, that's my friend and I love it.
Seeing a car whistling down the street with ammo, that's really cool, it means a lot to me, and what I did for it is, uh, I put the window sticker on a frame, yeah, it's super silly and weird, but when you're a car guy these things mean a lot to you and I'll surprise him with that later as always if you have any questions email me Larry at mo NYC two degrees aware of the steps we went crazy in the steps. Just pick and choose what you want to do, you can leave the wheels on, you don't have to jack up the car, just have some fun.
I went for the full amount here, but at the end of the day you make sure you protect the paint so there are no bird bombs and things like that. You can also visit my website at mo NYC dot-com for more videos on how to take care of your car, as always, thank you so much for watching. See you next time.
