cars

I can't afford. Am I going to buy this $45,000 AE86? No. Am I going to watch the ad 14 times a day? Hard yes. And after years of using other sites to track cars, my editor Max says, you know, I bought my Taurus SHO on eBay. And I was like, eBay!

More Interesting Facts About,

11 best first cars for people who like cars...

I've heard it. And with the new eBay Motors app, I can see the cars I want to buy anywhere I want, especially in the bathroom. They got something called VPP, which stands for Vehicle Purchase Protection, and a free vehicle report from AutoCheck. What this means is that the car you bought is the car that appears or someone is going to pay for. eBay's got your back, friend. Then download the eBay Motors app, click the link in the description below. If you purchase a car, you will receive a $100 gift certificate to eBay. Yeah, I know what you're saying, it's only a hundred dollars, but Jesse bought a whole Saab for $76, so don't worry.

We think it's really cool that eBay Motors wants to work with us, we think this could be a really cool partnership. And if many of you download it, you'll want to do more things with us in the future. And that means we can make more cool videos for you in the future, things we haven't even done before with Donut Pound. These are things we can't even imagine yet. You're getting it. (laughs) - Fourth generation Mustang. - I identify with the fourth generation Mustang or SN95, which is like the unloved middle child. It's not a classic, it's not that modern.
11 best first cars for people who like cars
And honestly, it's probably the worst of all the Mustangs. However, I think the SN95s are still great. They are relatively powerful and have a lot of potential, but

best

of all, they are cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap. So the SN95 gets some hate, but I think it looks really cool, it's like a little, this little bubble boy, little Jake Gyllenhaal, put some coilovers on it, lowered it, put some Cobra wheels on it, maybe a Hood induction, a real glow on the hood. Well, get yourself a nice car. Now the V6 model produces around 190 HRSPRS and the V8 is not much better, it only produces 220, a bit of damping, but there are plenty of things to make your Stang more vascular.
There are a ton of parts out there and like I said, they are cheap and you can get a lot of them at AutoZone. So this is a great first car, if you want to learn how to turn something. And if you still need convincing, here are some sick SN95 Mustangs owned by Donut fans. - Volvo 240. - When I was a kid in the old days, old Volvos were basically the go-to choice for cheap, reliable, cool early cars. My dad had a red 240 with a five speed. The Volvo 240 was the first car I worked on, it's the first car I learned to drive in, and it's the first car I got burned on.
Nathan Steinke was there with me for those three major life events. He was my first automotive friend. 240s are great first cars, they have a reputation for being tanks because they are actually, I think literally, classified as tanks. And some of them even came with turbos. If you're lucky enough to find one, you can get a really nice, well-maintained Volvo 240 for $105k because it's stayed very close to its early boxy designs. Even with their modern cars, they will never suddenly stop being cool, okay. There are a lot of really cool Volvos like the V70R or the 850 T5R, but for me the Volvo 240 is just the Volvo.
It's rear-wheel drive, super simple, and the engine base is huge. If you want to go crazy then I want some kind of nasty engine swap, plus they are super practical so you can fit all your extracurricular gear in there. You can fit so much LARPing gear into a Volvo 240. Ask Nolan how he knows that. Oh, I'm sorry, should I say Thrundon, are you brave? -Ford Ranger. - Well, this one is for all my trucker brothers. I'm talking about one of the best trucks of all time, the legendary Ford Ranger. Now they had created a lot of different types of Rangers, so there are many to choose from.
We go into much more depth in our video on cheap vans; I'll put the link for that in the description below. We had to get this truck back because it is a great choice for our first car. You can get them for a couple of dollars in good used condition, they are easy to work on. Plenty of room in the engine bay so you can get in, play and grease your knuckles. And of course, you have a great, practical truck bed to do some truck stuff, if truck stuff is the kind of thing you want to do.
Now I just want to take a moment and apologize to our Australian friends, including Bailey Goulimis. In a previous episode of this show, I said the Holden Maloo was a Ute with a tray, and I've since been informed that it's not a tray, but a tub, okay? So the Holden Maloo is not a flatbed truck, it's not even a tray Ute, it's a bathtub Ute. Again, I'm so sorry, I'm going to write this wrong, and as a symbol of my humility, I have adopted this kangaroo, this is a real thing that I did, I paid for it.
I called him Nolan Two. And now he's officially the fifth Joey to work at Donut. Literally all of our writers are named Joe in some way. - C4 corvette. - Okay, now I know this is one of the first craziest cars on this list. It definitely won't make your mom happy, but hear me out, you can buy one of these for about $3,500, but keep in mind that you might have to grease your knuckles a little with this bad boy, so much so that we'll start calling you Greasy Nux when you walk in to your room at home, as if to say: Hey, what's up, Greasy Nux?
And you're going to own it, you're going to say, what's up? Yes, I have greasy knuckles, I drive a Corvette. I'm smart? Not necessarily. Am I cool? Very cool. Chevy made the C4 Corvette from 1983 to 1996. So, there are a ton of them out there, and guys, did I even mention that this car has the most amazing feature available on any car? (upbeat music) They also come with Julius Caesar's favorite set of wheels, Salad Shooters, they look good on almost any car you put them on. Here they are in a BMW E30, here they are in a Volkswagen Golf, here they are in a C4 Corvette.
During its run, the C4 came with one of six different V8s, so before you buy one, find out which V8 it has. I like the LT1 better, it's a sweet spot between price and performance, plus they're bulletproof, and the coolest car is a car that runs, but if anything ever went wrong, Chevy put the LT1 in a bunch of cars different. . Parts are easy to find and cheap and you don't mind jumping under that hood, you're Greasy Nux, your knuckles are already greasy. Now I know I bet this is a little silly. Alright, it's definitely the least sensible car on this list.
You can't really fit any LARP gear into it, but I think the idea of a Corvette for your first car is hilarious and awesome. -Miata. -We talk a lot about Miatas at Donut. Too much if you ask me. I mean we have a completely different show where all we do is talk about a damn Miata. Apparently it's not enough to have an entire show dedicated to Miatas, we have to talk about it at all my shows too. Well, there's no denying that the Miata is an incredible small car; It would be a great first car for someone who wants to develop their driving skills.
They're rear-wheel drive, very well balanced, the parts are cheap, and you can almost certainly afford one of these things. They're cool, I guess they're cool, although I look like Donkey Kong when I drive one. Now I know the NA came with nice big dash pop-up headlights, and that's the one everyone really wants right now, but the NB is basically the same car, and I even think the NC is pretty cool. , especially with hardtops and wheels. All three generations are really fun and can be found for cheap. So what if you have more than one friend and you want the opposite of a Miata, something that can fit in more than one backpack, something that has some power?
This may be a wild card, maybe you should consider it. -Lincoln LS. - This may not be the most romantic car on this list, it's no Corvette C4, but if you're looking for something big, luxurious, reliable and safe with a V8 that costs less than four thousand dollars, I want to consider one of these guys. . This car was produced from 99 to 2006 and was basically America's answer to comfortable European cars like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. And as you'd expect from a car trying to go to war with the Germans for dominance in the luxury sedan market, the LS was packed with fancy stuff like technology and even had an independent double wishbone suspension, which is pretty cool.
Well. it handles quite well. Inside, the LS was a symphony of leather and wood like an old-fashioned library, which is like the Internet, but instead of being full of websites, it's full of books. You heard it, maybe she deciphers one of them from time to time to help you with your vocabulary. This car is loud like no other, okay, listen to me. He's sensible, he's responsible, he's something your parents can trust, but don't be fooled because, like Nolan deep down, he's a handsome, muscular boyfriend. Behind the sober exterior of it hides an absolutely voracious secret: the 3.9 liter V8 that pumps out around 300 HRSPRS.
If you want a manual, you can get one, but only with the 240 horsepower V6, but that's a decent amount of power. Let's take your time, we just got our driver's licenses, this is our first car, baby steps. I'm not calling you baby, okay, you're a young adult, okay, but only 240, I don't even have a car that makes 240 (laughs) horsepower. -Subaru Forester. - At number five is the Subaru Forester. Now, when you heard me say... Subaru. - You're probably thinking I was going to hit you with an STI or a WRX, not a little boxer of an SUV, but hear me out because the Forrester is a compact SUV, that is, a fat hatchback that hides a sexy side secret.
Beneath that no-nonsense square body lies plenty of the sweet, crazy sweetbreads of the legendary Subaru WRX. Of all the models you can get in the US, the XT Limited Turbo is the one you want because it's turbocharged, it's a flat-four with 230 horsepower, and it also has a sunroof. So when you drive, you can spread your little hands and be free, and it has a leather interior, so you can burn your little butt all summer long. This car is basically a WRX without a big rear wing or a huge exhaust, and it's all hidden under a big, safe SUV body that your parents will love.
More importantly, it's much more affordable and easier to find than the WRX, and the insurance will be cheaper too, so (laughs) that's just smart. And if you really want, you can put some wild hair on your goat, you can change a bunch of STI things on this car, so you can get your Forester back and have a good night's sleep. - E46 330i. - The E46 M3 is a fantastic car, but it is also a very expensive car, but there is good news because you can have its slightly less muscular brother, the 330Ci, for about a quarter of the price, (laughs), okay.
For just a few thousand, you can buy an E46 330Ci with the ZHP package. Now, if you can find one, this is the one you want. It's performance package one, and it comes with a bunch of cool little things, like a cool steering wheel, it has six speeds, it has a different differential ratio, and it has firmer springs. In my opinion, it also has one of the best shift knobs ever. The 330Ci had the M54 inline 6, which was basically the last really good, reliable engine BMW ever made and made 235 horsepower. You know, the E30s were cheap for a while and then they got expensive, then the E36 is really cheap and now they're getting expensive too.
E46s are really cheap right now. They're a lot of fun to drive every day, they're fun to take to the track and you can even turn them into drift cars by just adding a couple of things, I'm talking like an angle kit, maybe a handbrake. It's like my great-great-grandmother used to say, okay, be smart, buy a 2004 BMW 330Ci. - Nissan350Z. - The first car I had was an s13 240SX. And I think the 350 is a modern equivalent of the 240, except it's a hell of a lot faster. There are a couple versions of the 3.5-liter V6 that come in this car, and if you get one that was made in 2006 or newer, you'll be good for a very reliable 300 HRSPRS, which is enough, okay guys, that's a lot.
All you kids think you're Supermans, but you're not even normal men yet, you're teenagers. Teenagers. I really like this chassis, we have two of them here at Donut and we modify them a lot in our other program, HiLow. If you haven't seen that, then you should. I really think it's the best thing we've ever done. And as we've shown at HiLow, there are plenty of parts for these things, and you can build one to do almost anything you want to do. Basically it's like, I think the 330Ci and the 350Z are the best value you can get in a sports car right now, and they're relatively interchangeable, like day-to-day, I don't know which one I'd want more.
We're launching a t-shirt for your car, also known as the Buff Horses sticker pack. (horse neighs) (upbeat music) - I'm so excited about your sticker. I think they turned out really great, they're really high quality and the only place you can get them is at DonutMedia.com. -Golf MK4. - I love the Volkswagen Golf. For all those wondering, this car is my son. We don't share blood, but he is my life, I am proud of him and owning him has been the best and most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. He came from Germany legally, of course, I've owned a lot of Golfs: Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, but the one I think is the best first car is the generation I never actually owned, the Mk4, and not just because it smells like (mumbles), I think it's a great balance between being old and fun, but still having a lot of modern safety things, like air magazines.
My Mk3 is scary to drive, it's like driving in a bloody office chair. If I get into an accident, I'm 100% Dunzo. You can get the Mk4 with a little bit (mumbles), you can get them with a turbodiesel which gets really good gas mileage, but if you want a hatch, which is a bit more attractive, you've got two really good options, you've got your VR6. and you have your 1.8T 20 valve. The VR6 sounds amazing and the 1.8T is super tunable. And remember guys, the 1.8T never loses. There are some great versions of the Mk4 too, both the 337 and 20th Anniversary editions came with factory Recaro seats, big wheels and some cool lips and stuff.
The number 20 was available in Jazz Blue, which is a sweet blue color, and also in Imola Yellow. The Jetta is the exact same car, but it has a trunk in case you want to store your LARPing gear. Get yourself a Mk4, bing-bang-boom. He becomes a child in the cafeteria and moves on. Forward. Coming to number one. What do I think is the best first car for a new driver? The car I tell everyone to buy when they ask me what kind of car they should buy. All the Accord you can afford, and not just because it rhymes, right?
I was going to put a Civic at number one, but it looked too similar to the Golf and will probably be stolen. If you want a Civic, buy a Civic. They're fantastic, but they steal them from you. And (mumbles) they're cool too, but they'll definitely be stolen. The Honda Accord has been in constant production since 1976, they figured these things out, okay. They start every time, run like the best with minimal maintenance and the coolest car, like I said, is the car that runs. And there really is an Agreement for everyone and on all budgets. It's a great combination of sportiness and practicality, they came with some really cool engines.
They have very good acceleration, they look great and they are cheap to work on. Now I know we've been talking about V8s and cars with turbos and stuff, but I think the Accord really is the most complete model and, in my opinion, it really is the best first car you can get. Look at this, look at this, look at this, look at this, look at this, they're great. And no matter what your first car is, whether it's something on this list or something completely different or just what your mom used to drive and passed down to you, it will be special because it's your first car.
And if you're not in a position to buy a car yet, that doesn't mean you can't be part of this community. I didn't have a car for almost two years as an adult, when I just skateboarded everywhere. The car community is my life, it's an incredibly diverse group, we all come from different places, we all have different interests, but what unites us is a love and respect for cars and each other. And I'm very excited to have you all on board. So if you're looking for your perfect first car, but can't find anything in your city, search the eBay Motors app and search everywhere.
Guys, here's a little secret: okay, you can ship a car to basically anywhere in the United States for about $800. I did it, found someone local, drove a car you trust and drove it, and yes, I ship it to your house. Thank you all so much for watching this video and all the other videos on Donut Media.
