I'll give them that. You have to sit there and think about these things that actually work, because if you do it wrong, someone will see it on camera and say, "That's so fake." It takes a little work. You have to make it look real.
You have to make it do its job and be better than real life. - (FBE) Over the years we've seen more and more things modified to look better online and in the media in general, so this is just one example of that. So how do you think fake media, like doctored photos on Instagram or even food used in commercials, has affected the way we view images today? - I mean, it's kind of like Photoshop in real life. We expect things to look better, like food or something, so it affects our way of thinking. - I think it makes our brain want more things or want everything to be perfect, which is not the case, but we like a good presentation, that's why we Facetune our selfies. - I think food is fine to make it look better, but on Instagram, you don't need to use Photoshop. - It does affect someone's psychology when they look at Instagram thinking that that is the standard of beauty.
But we're not going to have the same association with food. - The images that we capture believing that they are real are not. The things that seem real to us surprise us and we do not believe them. - I sit there and look at photos of myself or photos I take in general, and if the things I'm seeing aren't perfect, then I start to feel terrible about myself or maybe I start to wonder if I'm good enough. Growing up with this, maybe it was a little hard for us, because now we are all perfectionists who stress and overthink every little thing. - Now we have so many things that we can change, alter and make them look better than before.
We do it because the human eye wants to see something that is pleasant rather than something that is not.
