ZR2 COLORADO 50K MILES LATER.. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.
all right guys what is going on welcome back to the channel and welcome back to the vlog i
knowyou guys have not seen the
coloradoin a while so i wanted to give you guys a 50 000 mile update video uh this is going to be over just the use and abuse and longevity of the truck and how it has performed for me so far so let's jump right into it so for those of you that don't
knowthis is my 2018
coloradozr2 the truck is leveled and it is on 285 70 17s we're also rocking a set of bison flares i picked those up a while back and did some light trimming to make those fit nothing too crazy uh it is running a ready lift level kit so it's like inch and a half inch and a quarter level also has a full magnaflow exhaust there's the magnaflow exhaust kind of hard to see from this angle there's the rest of the magnaflow exhaust so brought the truck out here today unfortunately the road was closed that we were going to go do some wheeling on they've actually for some reason closed it down and skated off so uh let's just run over real quick this is 50 000
mileson the odometer and let's talk about let's talk about a few things that i've had happen to this truck that have set me back and some stuff that's really impressed me so in this 50 000 mile interval one thing you're going to want to do if you have one of these trucks is go ahead and count on flushing your transmission transfer case front and rear differentials now keep in mind the...
2019's back actually had a shutter so if you do have a little bit of shutter they will do this under a warranty so if you're at the 50 000 mile interval go into the dealer and they will replace the fluid under warranty now you're probably wondering how much does something like this cost it's usually around 450 dollars to have the transmission flushed and if you pair that with a full diff service i think it's going to be close to like 800 so i ended up giving around i think it was 450 to 500 but they also did an injector flush so that's something at 50 000
milesif you guys are watching this video you got one of these trucks go do that right away that is the life of the transmission of course this is the gasser it is a eight speed automatic with the v6 a couple other things that i've done to this truck to help the life of it out this does have a trifecta tune on it so i am tuned transmission's tuned as well as the engine so it bumps the power up to about 335 at the crank from 305. um the seats and
everythingin the truck are holding up really well you
knowlike i said this is 50 000
mileson the clock and
everything's done great the infotainment has been awesome with apple carplay guys have guy gps i would strongly advise uh looking into using that while you're doing any kind of forest service navigation like we're doing today those map layers are of course super helpful when you're out in the remote back country you can download...
the layers and it'll get you out of a pickle if you lose service i want to do some performance upgrades to your truck i can make a couple recommendations of course magnaflow obviously you want to check out some form of an aftermarket exhaust and another thing to check out is a cold air intake i've actually got an smb intake on my truck so after 50 000
mileslet's take a look see how things have held up one other thing guys hood protector is a must-have these are avs aeroskin also running uh rough country light bar with the mounts and it has held up perfectly i've had zero issues out of this thing and the rest of the truck is also doing fantastic i've had pretty much no issues with this truck in 50 000
milesso under the hood of the mighty 3.6 of course just got that s b air intake of course it's held up really well this engine has been phenomenal as far as any kind of electrical or mechanical failures and fifty thousand
milesi have had the only thing that came up was a cam sensor and i kind of had a feeling it was bogus so i cleared the code it never came back and there's my wiring from a lot bar and stuff went through the firewall very simple very neat um that kits around 250 bucks i highly recommend it just because if you still got the stock front end on the truck it just kind of flows really well and works awesome for you
knowremote backcountry stuff a lot of you
knowthat i've got these bison flares on here and you're probably...
wondering if you've seen my early videos you
knowthat i actually taped these on and there was a lot of you
knowtrial and error with this because i wasn't sure what it was going to do if it was even going to work so these bison flares you can drill them and they give you kits to drill them but i thought you
knowwhat i'm going to try something different let's try a 3m tape on every place that's supposed to have a drill hole all right it's been one year since i've had these flares no issues at all none these are 3m tape across the top using the existing holes from the stock flares still holding up fantastic i've had zero issues with those so if you guys are thinking about bison flares and you want to kind of make your truck stand out a little bit that's the easiest way to do it just grab those take out the tabs for the top and get yourself some 3m tape it works just fine now this truck you're probably wondering oh that's probably a street queen oh dang no problem zr2's got it baby it's a big c's guy i've got two hands on it so this is peanuts good thing you got a trailer hitch good thing uh we took the bikes off the back yeah a little trailer hitch definitely uh helps you out a little bit there but she'll be fine all right guys here's party imagine it's uh a little wider than it looks on camera it looks pretty narrow but it's really not that bad i mean there's no guard rails and you got to be...
knowaware of your surroundings but all right guys following some more jeeps up imaging kind of giving them a little room it's a little dusty at the top but whoa can't bird mine is just right there guys we'll take you guys uh back there to it when we start on the way down but it's just super scenic the views are absolutely incredible truck's been doing great all right guys we have made it to the top of imogene pass and we actually took a couple of really sketchy lines that i think some of the bigger stuff normally would take uh because there's a rock step down here there's a jeep actually stuck on right now let's see them down there imagine pass we made it what's up what's up man whoa whoa this truck is actually in this 50 000
mileslet's talk about some of the places that this thing has been in 50 000
milesso right now we're in north carolina we're actually near mount mitchell i was actually going to head up there and show you guys what that looks like but unfortunately the road's closed so this truck has actually been all the way to
coloradoit's been a telluride it's been to euray and we drove it from east tennessee that was a 28-hour drive to get there and we lived out of the truck for two weeks so obviously as you guys
knowif you've seen my earlier videos i did have a bed rack and rooftop tent on there i took it off because we're getting near the time of year where it's getting too cold to...
camp so unfortunately i had to remove the rooftop tent and
everythingmy wife is is pretty far along through the pregnancy and very hard to get up in a tent when you're pregnant so i took that off i will put that back on once my daughter gets here we will be going camping with her but uh if you're wondering what that looks like when you take it off this is all that's left is some holes i just have them on each corner and that's where the bed rack went for the tent and uh and fifty 000
mileswith that thing on there i can say that 30 000 of them i had the rooftop tent and i experienced zero issues with that tent on there um also fuel mileage wise i've maintained about 17.8 to 18
milesper gallon with the 10 on it drops about 17 too so maybe a mile to the gallon um when i have the rooftop tent on of course my rooftop tent does sit flush with the top of the truck so that's one thing to keep in mind if you're going to overland these trucks make sure and get one that is flush with the top of the truck that's going to save you some mpgs so one other thing now this truck has been leveled with this exact setup on it for uh we're going on 20 some thousand
milesnow a little right at 20 000
milesand i'm running a set of 285 70 17 falcon wild peaks these are the mud terrain version of these and so far i'm at about half life so i think you'll probably get somewhere around 50 000
milesout of these tires maybe 60 if you rotate them properly...
as far as the wheels i'm running a set of alpha commands and these are the least aggressive offset that you can get i believe it's like a plus 13 offset or a plus 15 offset so i chose to do that because i didn't want the crazy rubbing with the zero offset wheels it's one other thing to keep in mind guys if you go zero offset you're just you're gonna increase the wear on the truck you
knowyou're you're pushing this away from the suspension so it's added stress to literally
everythingum and also i was able to not have to use any kind of trim kit other than doing this right here that's it slight metal trimming at the bottom and then just notch the flare i occasionally will rub if i wheel it really really hard on something but not anything crazy so that's a quick overview of some of the mods on the truck and uh
everythinghas been holding up really good the shocks of course a lot of people ask you
knowwill shocks blow at 20 000 and i've heard some horror stories of people blowing the shocks out on these things mine are still doing good i've had no leaks with them and i am running a set of five eight nine fabs shock skids on here when we were out in
coloradowill and imogene pass we definitely bumped a few of them we definitely bumped those shocks a few times out there on some of that steep stuff and around here um probably not going to see too much of shock skid action but you
knowit's nice to have and it's nice to...
knowthat you're not going to tear them off so if you're not going to do the relocation kit and put them on the outside of the frame i definitely recommend running those shock skids all right guys so there is a 50 000 mile review on the chevy
coloradoand uh drop a comment below and let me
knowwhat you think about the truck and some future mods that you might like to see on this truck i'm actually thinking about the bds four inch lift and 35s that's kind of where i i believe i'm going to take this truck to next but so far i'm really enjoying it as a daily driver and i cannot complain uh it's been an absolutely phenomenal truck in my old truck of course you guys
knowi had a zr2 s10 a lot of you guys asked where that truck's at i actually ended up selling that truck and of course moving on to this so i had both of them in the garage for about two months after that i decided it was time to part ways with it and use that money to modify this truck so if you like what you see go ahead and smash that like button drop a comment below and uh if you haven't done it already be sure and subscribe got plenty more stuff coming with this thing i am coming back to the garage a lot of you guys are also wondering about the gray truck that muscle truck build uh i've been contacting blueprint engines and we're going back and forth and trying to see if we can you
knowcarve out a deal i'm not gonna hit it yet but it's not what you'd...
expect it's not a small 355 i'll put it that way so you guys that are following this and wondering about that truck it is coming back don't worry uh the s10 also is still in the garage uh it was rear-ended a while back and uh i'm waiting on the tailgate show up so i should have that next week i'll probably drop a video on that one real soon for you guys just give you an update on that little build but all right guys there you go 50 000
