90days
and if you want to go deeper into each specific tactic you can check out the other videos on screen to go deeper into that, but before we start I want to invite you to watch my free masterclass on how to get started a profitable blogging business, go over all the strategies in depth content marketing affiliate marketing SEO do you knowwhat
blogging is, it's a 90 minute training, make sure you click the link, sign up and let's get into today's topic, so when we first start a blogging business we really have to have our end goal in mind because that will dictate our entire strategy so an end goal can be things like you know what you want to do.With this blogging business, why are you building it? Typically, we're building it as part of a full-time job and we want to do it, you know, start making some money, maybe a few thousand dollars a month to pay students. loans or help pay your mortgage or all these things or we might want to build a twenty thousand fifty thousand dollar blog and dedicate it full time and surpass your income and all these things, but we have to have that end goal in mind. We also have to realize that we are starting this as part of a full time job so we have to be careful with this, ultimately we have to focus on the right things at the right time to generate passive income the way faster, aka you.
We know we have time constraints, most of us don't have the ability to do this, you know, 40 hours a week because we have another job, so how do we work and then come home and spend those 10 hours a week , possibly up to 20 hours? an extra week, how do we spend them in the best way possible? And with these time constraints, we really have to maximize the effective use of our time because ultimately we want to build this profit runway, make this blog successful, and we want to do that. So in the shortest time possible we have to focus on working on the right things, so what do we do on a daily basis?
Really the key in the first 90 days is to learn as much as humanly possible and do everything yourself, so yeah. One of my strategies was outsourcing like writing and freelancing help with link building and all that stuff from the beginning and building this as a business, but to really build it as a business you have to learn everything yourself and know how to do it, you know, teacher. Do it before you start outsourcing it so you can train effectively, so the key in the first 90 days is to just learn everything you can and then the goal here is to create a profitable track and leave your full-time job within what I say. 12 months, I did it in seven, but I did it like I worked a lot very aggressively on it, so basically we want to build this passive income machine based on ranking content on Google, doing some link building authority in your niche, becoming you, see your face. on that website you are an authority, you are ranking for content, you are earning passive income through affiliate marketing, maybe some ads, some queries, whatever you like, but we want the end goal in 12 months to be to pass the exam complete. -time income or at least equal it, so that's a very good goal now, first of all, we talk about good, so I want to do that, that's great, so first we need a website, so it's possible that already have a blog on wordpress so you can You may or may not have that, but you really have to realize that your blog is a living, breathing thing and that perfection is the number one enemy.
Perfection is what holds you back, it's what keeps you focused on the little details that don't matter, like fonts. Get to know the small details, logo and graphics and make sure every word is perfect on every item. Perfection is the enemy because it simply slows down growth. Blogs are living, breathing beings and what that means is that every page can be updated. Each blog post can be updated. updated, so we have a kind of mantra, it's enough to just keep going if you know it, if perfection is something you struggle with and it's like you can't spend two weeks perfecting an item because you think you're going to achieve it.
I judged that you really just have to put stuff out there and keep going and keep moving and pushing and focusing on the right things. A lot of people like to focus on designing and building this website to perfection, but every minute you spend doing that you're not doing it. spend it on ranking content so really perfection is the enemy and then you know when we're setting up our site in my course blog growth engine we cover
exactly
how to set up your top four pages so that's your home, your information page, your blog. The archive page, basically the scroll of your blog, like how all the posts are displayed on your blog and your blog post template, mainly, you know that WordPress themes have them built in, so you don't have to fight them, and the home page, the landing page, is basically a sales page about you, like who you are, what you're going to talk about on your blog, you know, a brief preview of your story and what the site is all about, and the great thing is that the home page can evolve, adapt and change a million times. If you wanted when I started mine, it had a different theme, it had a different message, all of that and it's changed and evolved over the years, so that changes a lot. Your About page is like a personalized story about you, you know? What it's not just about your professional background looking good, it's more or less about your page being vulnerable and sharing your unique message with the world. So what is the story of your life? Why are you creating this blog? You know what it's about, who are you and? you know the most interesting pages perform well, then you know the blog archive is self explanatory, it doesn't really matter that much about the layout and then the blog post template, so this is what your real blog looks like, so every theme has this as well on every website they create and it's really about readability so when you write for the web you know you want to have short paragraphs and you want to make sure the line spacing looks good so it's not too messy as you want. easy on the eyes, break things up with images, text, bullets, bold text, all those things you also want to make sure they're not too wide, like most themes, they're 800 pixels, but you actually build these four pages, you build your website, you choose web. host um and then set up Google Search Console and Google Analytics so you know with Search Console that's what indexes your website, submits your sitemap and tells Google that it exists to rank your content if you want to see more if you want. . the exact details of each tool for using theme hosting and all that, be sure to check out my WordPress tech stack video mentioned here which will go much deeper into the tactics, specifically exactly the tools you need to get your website started.
So that's basically setting up your website after you do that, you know we're talking about choosing your niche so this might actually come a little bit before all that because you might need some things for your homepage, but when you choose your niche. There is a big myth about writing about what you are passionate about. You know, follow your passions and then you will earn well. That's not always the case. You know I'm passionate about a lot of things, but that doesn't mean I am. It's going to make me money I may like running, but I don't like running Do I like writing about running for years?
Not necessarily, so you know, when we talk about choosing your niche, all of this builds on itself, so the niche is the foundation. and then we talk about keyword research in your niche and then search intent in your niche and how it should match what people want to read and that then dictates your content and your link building efforts what to link to all of these things that eventually reach their monetization, so the niche is the initial pillar that you need to know and in my course we also cover this wheel of authority, so it's like you have your you, what is your unique experience, your identity, your beliefs, there is your experience, your professional and personal experience in the world.
Basically, and then the position in the market, which is based on the search volume of the keyword research, what if there are enough people who are actually searching for what you want to talk about and that's where the affiliate opportunities arise in what? products can you review and earn commissions? your influence, so we all have different starting lines in life, we all have different connections and different points of influence that we can use when choosing our niche, so it could be a career path or a lot of personal experience and a hobby. Sometimes you know someone has a really strong hobby and career, we have to choose between the two, but ultimately, if you see your face on the website, what are you talking about?
And that's what choosing your niche is all about, so once we have a website, then we'll have to talk about what we're actually going to write about in this blog, so we have 90 days, what are we going to start doing well there? is where keyword research comes in before we know how to start deciding what to write, we have to know if people are really searching for this because as we know now, blogs are alive, you know the engines powered by Google, for which is basically not about writing everything and updating an audience, but rather ranking on Google for specific content and ranking over time to attract new people to your audience on your blog each month, so when we talk about keyword research, we use the hrefs tool because it's the best SEO tool and what we want to do is, you know, create other posts, 70 transactional, 30 informational, so 70 of your articles should be these type of comparative product summary posts. about the best products in your niche to generate income as an affiliate and then 30 can be informative and if you want to look at this specifically and exactly how to find these opportunities, you can check out the keyword research SEO video tutorial here to find out exactly how. to find your first keywords, but the goal here is to find new emerging products in your niche, so certain things that don't have much competition but can make you money aren't as competitive with a million other sites writing about it and are seemingly new and booming because time is a crucial component here, if you write about something early enough you can start ranking for it, so really the key is to find keywords to add to your content plan with a decent volume so that the people are looking for a good search volume. for it every month and one or two low authority sites ranked on page one, so it is a sign that you can rank as a new blog if the first page is covered by authority sites that are very high, you know the domain classification and do you really know it? competitive, then it will be impossible for a new blog to rank;
Google just won't do it, but if you see other sites ranking on page one and they're very low authority sites, you know you can rank two, that's really good. firm and then this is also where we look for some affiliate opportunities so when you're doing keyword research and you want to write an article, maybe something like you know I have the best video editing software. Well, Adobe Premiere has an affiliate. program Does final cut pro have an affiliate program? If you are going to recommend products, can you make money from it so you can do some affiliate research?
Don't get too into this, your first initial post. What we are going to write may never rank, you know, it's really about learning, adapting and evolving over time, not all posts will rank, but if you do this enough, many of them will, so Keyword research eventually becomes instinctive, but it takes practice. you know you want to be able to have this instinct to look at a keyword report and say it's a good opportunity or a bad opportunity.opportunity, so again it requires a decent amount of your knowledge and understanding, but make sure you check. Note that other video if you're interested, then you'll know we have keyword research.
Now we need to create the content plan for our blog, so you want to add 12 blog post ideas to your content calendar and then prioritize them based on that. in that keyword research, create a spreadsheet and add, you know, 12 12 keywords in there, see what the volume is and then prioritize them, which ones are based on the volume that people are searching for and the competitiveness, which one? believe? You can make money by prioritizing a little bit and then you start creating your blog post titles and then you run a plugin that you know that adds them to the content calendar so the titles that you know we also cover in different you know. on-page SEO video you can watch now, so that's exactly how to write this content.
Another thing you want to do is think about uniqueness, so instead of just being a random little niche affiliate site, what makes you unique? It's interesting to see when someone visits your blog, so we covered a link bait post. This could be a really long list, like something like the top 100 outdoor patio ideas and something that's really unique to the niche and then maybe tell a personal story so one of your blog posts are not optimized for keywords or anything like that and you just write about who you are in a unique and interesting experience that you had to make your blog unique. that will help in the future when asking for links to create associations and do all that to have some uniqueness and not just be another random site now that we've entered the content assembly line, so again when we're thinking about blogging in the 2020s, it's not so much about writing content from a blank page, but rather creating templates to everything and create systems for these things, so for example, in a transactional list post about the seven best video editing programs, you have an introduction, you have product one and then you have a templated version of this with features, pricing, what you think about it, what you like and don't like, call to action, then you have product two, exactly the same thing, three, four, five, so it's really a template for this and makes it easier for you to create this content. where you're not writing like you have writer's block or worry about being a writer, it's more about knowing how to assemble content to monetize it, so you can create a template for the post, you start writing about products in your niche and creating these transactional publications and informational publications. in your niche without worrying about affiliate marketing yet because it takes traffic and you know the volume to make money with affiliates so the key here is to just focus on creating this content and publishing these blog posts you know without fear and without perfectionism then we have to come to on page SEO so to rank in 2020s you have to have really good on page SEO to tell Google that you are the best source of information so here we can use a tool like Surfer SEO that will literally tell you the exact semantic keywords and the number of keywords to add in your post, related keywords, all the things you need to do from an on-page perspective and again, if you want to go deeper a lot on this, be sure to watch my video on the SEO page.
It covers exact titles, header formatting, semantic keywords, how to use those tools, and more—it's like your initial 90-day content plan. I'm saying add 12 posts because that's a little less than one per week so we want to at least do one blog post a week, you can always do more than that but this is the minimum so the goal of content for this is publishing 12 2,000 word articles in your first 90 days or so, which ultimately equates to about 24,000 words in 90 days. that comes down to what that looks like on a daily basis that's 266 words a day that's less than a double spaced page it's about a double spaced page basically and really to be a blogger and build this blog content driven business you need be publishing one article per week at least if you can't fit it into your calendar you are so busy that you can't create one article per week then you are really stagnating your business and you shouldn't do this maybe it's just a hobby for you but if you want to earn real money, you should at least make that minimum and then at the end of nine days, you'll want to start seeing search impressions in Google Search Console, maybe a little bit of traffic to some specific post.
Again, this is going to be dictated by some of the link building that we're going to talk about because that's going to be what's going to accelerate the initial traffic, but you want to start seeing some impressions, which means you're showing up on Google. People at least visit and see the title of your articles and you can also get some traffic here, but if you really want to see, you know more about this content plan, how I plan my content, you can watch my video about my content plan. seven figure content, how do I do it.
It's about how I structure the content, how I plan it and all that. Now let's talk about link building, so there are two paths when it comes to starting a blog, there is the content path, what you are actually writing about on your blog and then there is link building. the off-site things that you're doing, creating partnerships, relationships, getting links, those two paths are always going at all times, no matter how long you've known your blog, how old it is, basically, you're always doing these two things, publishing content, getting links so the first step here is to understand the authority landscape in your niche so for me in the software niche and making money online it's basically very competitive so I need my domain to qualify my site authority as high, probably in the 70s out of 100 in To start with, you know, rank a lot of content if you're in a different niche, maybe it's outdoor or home or something like space of e-commerce that is related to products kitchen, living room, outdoor patio those types of niches related to products gardening power tools, you may only need a domain ranking like in the 30s to rank the content or even in The 10 or 20 doesn't need a ton of links, but you should start getting some because you need to be in the ballpark of other sites that are ranking in your niche and this is what will really be the solid foundation for your blog content.
The content can always be updated. You can always update. Post something you know. The five main types of products. Update it to seven and ten. getting better and better over time, that's what I've done with many posts, but really the links are like the solid structure of your blog, like the blog posts are like the rooms of the house. The bonds are like the foundation, cement and concrete. that sustain you and build authority and allow you to rank, so they are really important, so when you are not writing, you should focus 100% of your time on link building in your first 90 days, so everything It comes down to what message I'm on.
I'll send out a message asking for links through guest posts and other partnerships and that comes up with an outreach template based on what you know, whether it's email or LinkedIn or even Facebook or things like that, the key is to find your value point and get to work. So in my other video here on link building that you can watch, I cover this in about 30 minutes, exactly how to do it. Find leverage points. Find unique opportunities. This is probably the hardest part, especially when you're starting out and don't have any. leverage or traffic or anything asking for links and doing guest posts and stuff is harder, so this is the hardest part of blogging, it's definitely the initial link building, but once you start to roll and you develop systems for this, it becomes easier and easier. so the key is just don't give up so start linking your articles here and making guest posts that you know in your niche, linking to almost everything, there is no perfect formula, you just want to increase your initial rating domain uh here, it's not like you.
I need to link perfectly to these specific types of articles now, at this point, we're just building sort of an initial domain score and then definitely make sure to watch this link building video because it goes into these strategies in depth that you'll notice here in these first 90 days so I didn't mention monetization even once and that's because everyone wants to monetize early, however blog monetization is a byproduct of your content and link building efforts, people just want to post a website in the world and suddenly Join Adsense and earn a few cents on Adsense and then join all the affiliate programs before they get any traffic.
You know they could be on page five of Google and they won't get anything, but then they'll join affiliate programs and all that, so that would be it. focusing on results not inputs, in the first 90 days of your blog or any content driven business you should only focus on publishing quality content, building links, building authority instead of focusing on monetization. I always say this, but it doesn't want to scratch. pennies off the ground when there are 100 bills in sight, so why focus on monetization? you do if you keep doing it, you know if you do 12 blog posts in 90 days by the end of the year, even if you only do one a week, you have 50 blog posts that you're working on, maybe you'll even only get one. link a week with link building doing a little bit of outreach, you'll get traffic, you'll see success, and then you'll rank on page one for things if you do your keyword research right, like I teach you to find. emerging products and at that point it's like a boom, change the links, monetize immediately, so this is kind of a return to that, maximize the effective use of our time, we could join affiliate programs here, without traffic, we could join Adsense and fight. edit on our blog or we could just focus on link building all the content, you know, look ahead and build something that is a real business for us before we do it, so that at the end of the first 90 days of your blog you should have a website with your four main pages your home about your blog roll up your blog archive page 12 live blog posts on your site minimum i am saying 10 backlinks here because you will learn this process maybe the first month you're learning about your reach and what to say and how to market messages on LinkedIn and do these kinds of things to get backlinks so you know this is probably the hardest part, but eventually you can learn this and He just knows it.
Do this a little bit a day. You should start seeing your first traffic in Google Analytics within 90 days. However, the goal here is not to make money in 90 days. Blogging is not a get-rich-quick scheme. You know everyone wants to go viral with ticking. and Instagram and create a crazy crypto world to make money online but it's like blogging is the best way to generate sustainable income that you are in control, you can control the content you write, you can control your authority and link building with the right strategies and you build this level of long-term growth, your own personal brand on the Internet in the digital world, but the goal here is not to make a ton of money in 90 days, but to learn everything you can because outsourcing she is funny.
Things come later, but you have to write this part first, so what this looks like on a daily basis is basically if you spend 10 hours a week on top of your full-time job blogging, which could be five hours a day. week writing blog content so that it is you know seven days a week multiplied by 266 words a day that you can complete, that maybe faster than this, especially if you are using surfer seo, it has templates, you could even use it to let you like jasper or something to speed up writing and then, you know, you spend the five hours of that week doing link building so you can always change these numbers, but it's nothing crazy, it's not like you have to sell your soul to this or you know. squash yourself to do this, what does it look like?
Well, it's basically a few hours a day, 266 words a day, maybe it's just five outreach messages a day to get links, like thisAs guest blogging emails, you send five specific messages that you look at. people on linkedin you make connections again, you can watch my other videos on this topic, but it's not like sending a million emails a day and writing blog posts every day, it's not that complicated, you don't have to do it that way , so it's just a little bit of work every day, but there are consistently no zero-sum days and it makes sure that you're always making progress on this.
So how much does it cost to get started right? In my video on the WordPress tech stack, you know what we covered, it's basically 132. to launch your website with the exact setup that I use, I would use um, it may be cheaper if you go with cheaper options, but I recommend you do this and then you can do ahrefs is 199. So you can do a month of that if you need to do all your keyword research for about six months, you know, get your content plan in order, but that's the best SEO tool to use and then the ongoing costs would be web hosting, 25 per month is for wpx which is what we recommend.
It's a little more expensive than three dollars a month for some cheaper options but in my opinion it's the best and then the server side SEO is 49 a month and it does the on page SEO so it tells you specifically what keywords add. your articles when you write them, so you're basically running your blog for about 74 dollars a month when you first start and we have to think about this as a business owner, as I let you know, over three hundred thousand dollars a month blogging today. and I made two, you know, I made 299,000 in profits from blogging, in March 2022, April is on its way to four, um and we really have to think about it from a business perspective, I would have to have like 30 Starbucks to make that amount. make a profit from 30 Starbucks and that would probably cost me between 5 and 10 million 10 probably between 10 and 12 million dollars to start with the startup costs, so we are entering this digital age.
Blogs may seem outdated or you know they are older than the people trying to go viral. with nfts and crypto and twitch and these things, but it's still the best way to build a sustainable business for yourself that grows over time because Google is not going anywhere, but to build this business we need to spend a little money, you know ? do it like this 74 a month to run an effective online business isn't much when you think about it that way when you want to keep track of everything I do. I have a spreadsheet that I have as a simple one.
I make it really simple. master spreadsheet and I have it in my course where you have your profits and losses, you have your content plan in one tab, you have your link building extension elements in one tab, you can basically run your entire blog post with one Google sheet, your entire blog. with a Google Sheet and then you know you can have a Google Doc, you just keep track of what you're doing during that week, you know you can write down the dates like the week of May 1st and then you write down just the things you have to go back to this person for this link exchange, you know, finish writing this article, just keep track of things, but don't think about it too much, it's really simple and the timeline of your success really depends on you, you can make one . article per week, you could write three articles a week, you couldn't build links and you know you're not really going to get much traffic or traction, or you could blow it out of the water and meet five to ten guest posts a month, the timeline for success.
It's totally up to you, but if you're real, you'll know that if you want to treat this like a real business, you have to put in some time, so I say a minimum of 10 hours a week focusing on the content and the links, the content, the links, content and links in order. to build the passive income machine, so the first 90 days are just about building that initial machine, so if you want to go deeper into the strategy, this covered a broad overview and gave you the tactics, the tactics or in other videos there is a check.
I've seen other videos on my channel, these go over things specifically in detail, like keyword research, how to do on-page SEO, how to build links and find your point of influence, all of that, these videos here, um, are almost two hours of content, so just check out my channel for that kind of stuff. There's a lot more to go into the details of, but with this video I wanted to give you a framework for the first 90 days and sort of an action plan so you know what to do. do daily so you know when we are working full time and we want to build something additional, we have to maximize the effective use of our time to build this earnings runway and in 90 days, even if you are not necessarily you will earn enough money to leave your job, However, you can build the foundation to accelerate it between months 6 and 12, so we'll cover that very soon if you're interested in knowing more exactly how I earn. 300,000 a month blogging what is blogging in the 2020s how is it more of a science than an art be sure to check out my free blogging masterclass it's a 90 minute training many students who have had aha moments while going through this and Please check out other videos on my channel, you know, I write about all kinds of things related to business, blogging and making money online.
