bandham radio received today on ham radio 2.0 hi guys good afternoon welcome to ham radio 2.0 this is your
firsttime joining us here click the button subscribe below so you can keep up with all the videos we post on this channel everything new in ham radio so that was a new intro a bit longer than the last one but always nice to change it up a bit and today we will do it. be talking about the new new ish the new ish you v9k from walks on which is a I said 9 band reception earlier but this says seven band reception it's
dualband radio dual band broadcast reception and then you'll get seven additional bands On top of that, I'm guessing 9 bands in total.
It's probably where I read that there are about 9 bands in total. good friends my new sponsor in buy two way radio calm down i asked them about this radio i got this radio directly from walks on they sent it to me they sent me the last two or three of their new radios you will see more radios about them coming soon on this channel both analog and DMR and so walks sent me this a couple months ago and i've been
looking up where you work you're fucking buying this. I dont even know. I couldn't find it anywhere so I finally emailed a two way radio dealer.
lookman, I've got this, v9k, what is this? It's not on your website. I can not find it. I found it on Amazon. I found it on eBay. I think it was, but I can't find anyone. of the other dealers i know are in electronics another one of my sponsors they don't carry it so no one carries it and i was trying to find out why so my contact for two way radios Tom who carries a wide variety of these ham radios from china and also gmrs radios and more items like that i said hey i got this you v9k they listed you v9 d d+ and au v9p as papa on their website at by 2-way radios calm and they said basically there are three models built with the same hardware for the you v9x radios ok the base model is the uv9 d+ which is a four four to five watt for uhf five watts on vhf and a two thousand milliamp hour battery the v9k what is this radio here is identical to the more accepted 9 D add that 8.3 3 kilohertz pitch in the channel pitch so this add actually even says right there in the box it didn't have a 9 d plus box to compare but that's what is 8.3 3 kilohertz step selection onable ok and then they said the uv9 your v9p like dad uv9 dad they take it for 2 8 quiet radios and increase the power to 5 watts in UHF 7 watts in VHF and replace the two thousand milliampere battery with a 3200 milliampere battery now I will put a link to that radio in this youtube description below and on my website at hammer a do to calm they are offering my view rs by to a radio calm is offering my viewers a 10 percent promo code on 10% off promo code discount when you mentioned ham radio 2.0 or when you use a coupon code and the coupon code I'll put it there too I don't see it in this email right now but I'll put it there in the well.
There it is HR to 0-2 pond code of HR capital HR for radio hams to zero ok then you get 10% of next walk radios. in the kg uvn one your dual band DMR HT the uv9 ATP which is a quad band mobile radio the UV 90 the UV 90 plus you the v9p as PAVA and the UV 17 then any of those radios for 2 way radios comm enter the coupon code from HR 2-0 and you'll get 10% off so all of that says I want to make sure I tell you guys the right thing about which model this is so this model is once again the UV 9 kilo and I'm going to switch here we're going to do a real quick unboxing because I know some of you don't like to see the unboxing but I want to show you what this is here he from 136 to 174 and then 400 to 512 megahertz on UHF right there let's see yeah , so inside the box you have a good manual, you have 2 antennas, this one here and this longer one, which they will probably call. a high gain antenna like that you have your standard walking belt clip here with the standard walking desktop charger on a chain this one looks like it would probably fit the desktop charger for the ad and 90 original versions and then you have I got this radio if I can get this battery out come on and that's the 2 thousand milliamp hour battery so we'll put it here like this the belt clip attachment is on the battery so I said before that I think which is a horrible design because if you want to get an extended battery replacement battery you have to buy a new belt clip along with some of these radios have the belt clip attachment on the battery and some have it on the radio to that you can turn that off, it is more easily and nothing probably if you buy a radio with it many times when you buy Radio and include the program cable or buy the program on extra cable it will be under this insert here I didn't order a programming cable for this radio but you can see it here it's a standard Kenwood 2 prong like everyone else right now so put this here. frequency mode let's move that out of the way put that right there this out of the way too here it is that let me go i'm going to go here like this and i'm going to try to go like okay how is that right there that's better get that out of the way and make the screen light up there we go so that's the screen right there and let's see what we can see here you have your website at the top your walks in communication and that's in the mode function via pho select it, it says the menu 161 reset is 61 that's the sleepy er 61 right there which i think you can probably see on the camera ok i know there's a there's a glow right there I'll search a bit.
I'm going to get a tablecloth to put here so there's less glare. my glossy surface desk so we can go through all this stuff right here the caller id scan mode but let's go out and the ban button selects the main it moves it up and down and back that's unique TDR means which selects the main band so it mutes the second band so if you have activity on both bands you can mute the second band and just listen to the
firstband whichever you have selected as the main band at the moment so I'll go down the UHF side you can go to I guess you can probably go UHF here too yeah there we go so you do UHF on the top and bottom and then we're going to go well these are all the other bands that two meters will monitor 440 350 megahertz which is not really used in the US but a lot of these Chinese rigs have is 700 megahertz which is used in the US seven depending on where the part is in lowest of the band seven not seven hundred to nine eighty five megahertz so if you can find something analog on those bands out there in the US then you can use that 230 not. go down to 220 no no no hmm interesting to 30 to 250 basically worthless in the US I mean there's probably something on that band but who knows what the hell it is certainly not the 4ft or amateur band .
I thought I might be able to monitor 220 but then again this is a v9k radio not really made for the US So those of you who watch every time I do a live stream I get people from Germany, the European Union, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. have them look at it so this radio may be more applicable applicable applicable that's the name it might be more applicable to where you are so check with your local dealer and whatever country you are in and see if they can get this radio fit a and it fits it might fit your needs a little better than it would for us here in the usa 5k and i can go to 8.33 so do like chunky frequencies which is really fun Wide and narrow transmission power shift. positive transmission.
CT CSS. that's all Casey 5hw testing ok so it's a local analog repeater that's on 440 3875 it's actually a fusion machine but nobody ever uses it on digital everyone always uses it on analog so let's turn this off this battery is very tight. here we go and this has an FCC label on it okay so let me change here because I thought after I got nervous and said oh I want to show you I'm polishing a non-licensed radio but I really am probably not I wouldn't post the radio the video no and I didn't say I didn't say I didn't say that so this here FCC part 15 B is what it says there at the bottom FCC part 15 B and then there's a serial number and an ISO number , in fact, he said well that's weird, he says us only right there.
I don't know if you can see that or not it's recorded in the US plated I just don't know I don't fully understand why they would say this is a US only radio because the 8.33 kilohertz step that this radio has on the other 9x radios it's not really used here maybe it's commercially but this isn't a nineties radio I don't know but you know with the exception of the UVA technology oh the tribe and what they did they still do and I don't know if they've put out one newer version of that since I reviewed that I'll go ahead and paste a link in there for my review of the UVA Deco radio which is from two or three years ago.
I didn't like that man. He disappointed me a lot. There were a lot of birdies on the 220 band and there were a lot if he had the top band. six feet on the lower band on 220 or vice versa many times when you tuned in one band it interfered with the D feel the other had a lot of internal modulation not very well built honestly not a great choice for a trike. -HT band the B Tech 5x3 radio much better radio much better for a tri band HT the of course the Kenwood D 74 which is like e600 bucks you are talking about the UVA decos like 130 bucks 140 bucks and the B Tech tri band is about 80 dollars so the relative would be seventy four is like five to 525 these days yeah it will be a better radio it has D star, GPS, Bluetooth and all these other things too, but it's similar to the quality of skin wood.
I mean, that's really what you're paying for. Kenwood quality so yeah it's a much better radio obviously but if you want to keep the budget but the UVA technology oh I just didn't like it I didn't think it would work very well for a tri band radio the UVA Delta, its predecessor, was fantastic. I have two of those floating around here somewhere that I still use when I take them on the big screen of dear Lee. Great sound. Great performance. 999 memory channels, which is what this one has too. power settings VHF is five watts 2 watts one watt UHF is four watts 2 watts one watt dustproof waterproof ip55 rating what they are saying is I think this probably has 999 channels too because all the radios from the UV 8 and UV 8 and 9 series had it, so I'm going to carry this one around for a while since it's FCC approved.
I like the size. It's a good bulky feel. I like the size. I like the density. I like the fact that it has a separate knob. top for volume and channel selector so let's go buy comm 2 way radios tell them if you order online use my coupon code tell them you saw heard me talk about them on air great people here there, one of my new sponsors and let me know who used this radio or who has the uv9 delta plus or the uv9 papa and let me know what you think about it in the comments below 73 guys and we'll see you guys next week
