guide

that goes over the basic mechanics of the game from the beginning. getting started and how everything works in

You can get game upgrades to purchase the latest update for any current expansions that will be released if you have one available to upgrade. In your account you can also see various account services, such as character boosts, faction changes for your character's race, character changes, transfers to different kingdoms, etc., although some of these will require you to log out of the game, since they imply that you know to change things about your character in the backend, so you can't log into that character during that time. You can also buy a wow token if you want, which you can sell on the auction house to other players for gold, where players can actually buy it. token with gold if they want it to give them 30 days of game time, so yes, in theory, if you earn enough money in World of Warcraft, you can basically buy your subscription with in-game gold.
The Microtransaction Shop also includes mounts and pets, but that said, World of Warcraft is an extremely robust in-game pet and mount system and most pets and quantities can only be earned in-game and the Microtransaction Shop. It is limited in quantity, but it has certain mount aspects that you already know. If you want to buy them, they will only be available through the microtransaction store with the same logic that also applies to toys and then there are also past expansion packs that will let you know a variety of deluxe edition items that you could only have obtained in the past. but they group them together and put them in the microtransaction store.
World of Warcraft runs on a realm system, which basically means that there are several subservers that you can put your character in the game on, and as you can see, the list is quite long. Now you might be wondering: if I play on one server and my friend plays on another server, can we play together? The answer to that question is yes. World of Warcraft has many cross kingdoms and is gay. cross server technology that you can use if you want to play with your friends if your friend is on a server but you still want to raid together or play pvp together you can still communicate with each other invite your friends to groups and still play together with some restrictions minor commercials, some minor, but other than that realm, it really only matters in terms of things like the game's economy and guilds, but otherwise, it's like I said, there's so much cross-roaming technology that you can play each other in the different realms, the only restriction on playing with your friends will come from your factions, which I'll cover in the next section.
The next section will cover the character creation factions and max. level now there are two factions in world of warcraft you have the alliance and you have the horde and in each faction you have certain races that can only play for that faction you have a neutral race called pandaren and then you also have allied races that you can also play for factions Individuals, but these require certain in-game quest lines and achievements earned in order to play those factions. If you want to play any of these races, feel free to Google them and you will be able to find them.
Get all the information on what you need to do to be able to play these, but you'll have access to the main races at the base and like I said, you can see here on the left which races can play which factions but the races we'll go over in the next section. when you actually choose to create your character, although you can select the race you want to customize and from there you can adjust things like appearance. color your face hairstyle hair color facial hair or just randomize them you can also change your gender now keep in mind guys what I'm showing you now is the battle for Azeroth character customization this character customization is You will receive a It improves quite significantly with the release of Shadow Lands and you will see some higher textures for certain things.
You'll also see a couple more options for various races, so keep in mind that this system is improving. Pretty awesome update with Shadowlands now, at the time of recording this in Battle for Azeroth the max level in the game is 120, but it will drop down to 60 once Shadow Lands is released and then who knows what's going to happen. it happens after shadow lanes where you know who knows if we're going to start leveling again or how they're going to do things after that point, but the max level will obviously vary depending on the current expansion, but at that point it's 120 .and with the release of Shadow Ransom Shadowlands it will be level 60.
Now, something really interesting about World of Warcraft that I'm sure you can notice by looking at the screen right now is that you can create a completely new class or you can create a class. test, if you just want to try out the class, see what it is and see if it's something you like, so what you can do is create a crash test of the character and you'll get into this little mini tutorial on how one of the specs of your class work, it will give you a little refresher, show you how to use some of your skills, how to use them in quick succession, and basically just give you a little idea of what the class is about and how it runs. play and what it feels like to be in it, if you decide you enjoy the character you're creating you can choose to use a 110 or a shop boost or whatever level up there is when you release the shadow lens. you could use a character boost to level up or you can just remove the shock test, create the new class and start from level one, but I just wanted to mention in this section that the shock test is something that is available, so yes Are you torn between a couple of different classes and not sure what you want to do?
This is something you have access to. World of Warcraft has 23 races in the game, each with their own passive and active abilities, but in this game, certain races can only be certain classes like, for example, here you can see that pandaren cannot be warlocks, they can be paladins, druids or demon hunters, so there are things related to races and you know what classes can actually play there. There are more reasons for that, which in my opinion is pretty good now. However, one of the nice things about World of Warcraft is that the races for the most part are kind of cosmetic, um, the difference in effectiveness between the best race, in quotes. and the worst race for your specific class will only be a couple of percentage points, so you don't need to worry about making the wrong decision when choosing your race in this game, compared to other games where there are a lot more. importance to your racial choice, the racial passives that different races have are generally quite minor, but the important thing is that races have different active abilities and will usually come in the form of utility, which in my opinion, will be more important. at least in pvp and pat encounters compared to pve encounters, so if you do pvp you might want to see what utility your race will bring to a fight, but if you're more on the pve side you can obviously look to see what race will bring the greatest damage, but overall the difference will be relatively minor.
Now I think there are 23 races in the game at the time of recording this video and there are a few that could play in the alliance. that could play in the horde and we have the pandaren here that can play in both, but we're going to start with the alliance for this, our first race is obviously the humans and for the racial humans we also have their racial ability, that utility. I was discussing that they have what is called each for themselves that removes all stun effects and this can share a cooldown with other similar effects that will remove stuns from your character and this will have a three minute cooldown.
We also have dwarves that can play in the alliance as well and their racial ability will be stone form, which removes all poison disease curse magic and bleed effects and reduces all physical damage taken by ten percent for eight seconds. The next race we have is the night elves and the night elf race is shadow combination that allows them to basically slip into stealth, whichwhich reduces the chance of enemies detecting your presence, lasts until canceled or moved and any threat is reset against enemies in combat by canceling this effect, but I will discuss the threat later in this guide, our next race will be the gnomes and the gnome racial is an escape artist that has a one minute cooldown and allows you to escape the effects of any immobilization or movement speed reduction effect.we have draenei in the alliance and the draenei race is a gift of nature that allows them to heal themselves for 20 of their total health in five seconds.
We also have the worgen race and you can see Morgan here in the background. like a race of beast werewolves but you can also be a human outside of combat which I think is pretty cool and for worgen you have dark flight which will activate your true form, the power of your use will increase your movement speed by 40 for 10 seconds you also have the pandaren who can play in the alliance or the horde and their race is a shaking palm that allows you to hit the target with lightning speed to limit them for four seconds but also disable your attack to make sure that you don't break that type of crowd control because it can be broken by damage.
Now let's move on to the allied races for the alliance. I figure we'll go faction by faction here and our first race we have is the void. elf now the void elf racial activity will be a space rift that opens a rift in space and time and reactivating this ability will allow you to teleport through the rift so you can basically open riffs in certain locations and then activate them to teleport between them, the next race we have is the lightforged draenei which as you can see is a different version of the original draenei and for the lightforged draenei we have the passive light judgment that allows you or excuse me, active ability that allows you to summon a strike of holy energy that deals holy damage to enemies within a five-yard radius after three seconds.
We also have dark iron dwarves and their racial ability will be fireblood, which removes all curse magic and bleed effects from poisonous diseases. It increases your main stat by a certain amount and an additional amount for each movement effect that lasts eight seconds, making it like a more offensive ability from the dwarves' original ability. We also have the Cultirans who have the haymaker active race which allows them to finish and unleash their power on an enemy dealing physical damage and stunning them for three seconds and knocking them back to a substantial range and then the final rush for the alliance will be the mechagnomes which, as you can see, or simply a mechanical version of normal gnomes and their racial activity. being a hyper organic light creator that allows you to summon organic light to duplicates to distract your enemy so basically you can summon like little clones of yourself to distract enemies and these clones will also taunt your enemies so could be something very interesting for something like a tank now moving towards the horde, we have orcs as our first race and the active orc race is blood rage, which increases your attack power and spell power by a certain amount that lasts 15 seconds, a very offensive race, we also have the undead whose racial will of the forsaken removes any charm, fear and sleep effects, and this will share a 30 second cooldown with other similar effects, so which is very similar to the human race, every man for himself.
We also have the tauren race, the powerful tauren. and his race is war to stop stuns up to five enemies within an eight-yard radius for two seconds. We also have trolls and trolls as a race have berserk increasing their melee range and spell speed by 15 for 10 seconds. We'll go over some of these statistics. I mean a later section, but just a quick shout out to speed up, speed up, it just has to do with something like your casting speed, the speed of your global cooldown and things that just affect your speed in combat, we also have elves of blood and the proportion of blood elves.
It will be an arcane torrent that removes a beneficial effect from all enemies within eight yards and restores a portion of your class resources. We also have goblins and goblins have rocket jump which allows them to activate their rocket belt to jump forward a distance now the horde. allied races the first one we have is the nocturnal one and the nocturnal racial one is going to be arcane pulse that causes arcane damage to nearby enemies and reduces their movement speed by 50 and this lasts 12 seconds we also have the high mountain tauren that as you can say that they are a different version of normal tauren and their active is cattail, which allows them to charge forward for one second, knocking down enemies for 1.5 seconds.
We also have maghar orcs and their active will be an ancient call that summons the spirits of your ancestors who grant you their power for 15 seconds, just giving you a little power boost. We also have the Zandalari trolls for your active which will give you the regenerating passive which allows you to regenerate 100 of your maximum health in six seconds, which are not interrupted by damage now they also have a couple of other active activities that I want to point out, they also have a pterodact strike that reduces their fall speed for two minutes and they have a really cool passive ability that no other race has and it's called embrace of the loa and basically what you can do is interact with different loa shrines around the world to give it give your character a different passive bonus based on what you want and I think that's a really cool thing. feature so I just wanted to mention it here you can find the list of passives online if you do a quick search and then the last race we have is a vulpera and the active vulpera will be a bag of tricks that allows you to pull a chosen trick from the bag and use it on a target enemy or ally.
They also have a bunch of other really cool passives that are like little active abilities very similar to Zandalari trolls where you can make camps. and then return to that camp, so for example if you are farming somewhere you can leave a camp and then when you know you are going some distance away from it you can use this and return to the camp. It is very similar to zandalari. trolls with the bag of tricks you can change the trick that comes out of your bag so you can basically have different assets to serve whatever purpose you want, so they have a couple of very interesting abilities very similar to the zandalari trolls I mentioned earlier In this section, different races have different racial passives and if you want to look them up, I'll leave a link in the description below where you can look up the various racial passives to see if any of them really catch your attention.
In addition to appearances or active abilities, the next section I'm going to cover are classes and specializations. There are now 12 classes in World of Warcraft, but most classes have three specializations that you can consider as subclasses. and each of these specs, for short, can play different roles, some can tank, some can heal, and some can focus more on dealing damage. I'll go over what these features mean later in the guide, and if you want, check out that section. But now I want to know what that means. It is the section of the Holy Trinity. It has to do with roles in an MMORPG.
Now there are a couple of classes that only have two specs and one that has four, but for the most part, most classes do. three different specs now let's go over all the different classes very quickly and go over what their specs are and what you can expect from them now the first class we have is your warrior, which is a plate fighter that strives for perfection in armed combat , Warriors fight and generate Rage, which is like the resource they generate, which is used to power special attacks and Warriors have three different specializations, Arms that focus on a single two-handed weapon, Fury that focuses on two-handed weapons. dual grip. and you can actually wield two single weapons, like one-handed weapons, or you can even wield two two-handed weapons, which is pretty cool, and then there's also the protection warriors, which is your tank spec that focuses in using a sword and a shield. your next class will be the paladin, now paladins are heavily armored fighters and also use plates similar to warriors who use holy magic to heal wounds, fight evil and can also tank and focus on two handed weapons to attack and then shields For tank defense, for example, there are now three different specs that are sacred, which is the healing spec that invokes the powers of light to heal and protect allies, defeat evil from the darkest corners of the world, and your weapons of choice will be a sword and a shield with warrior both um both as uh two handed weapon specs so fury and weapons or dps specs with protection being a tank spec but with holy paladin it will be the healing spec and for the tank spec you are You will have protection where you will use your holy magic to protect and defend yourself again using a sword and board and then for retribution paladins that will be your offensive damage for paladins who use holy magic for their offensive abilities and they have a There is a lot of usefulness to contribute to a team, since these are what are called hybrids.
What you will notice is that classes that also have the ability to heal are known as hybrids when it comes to their offensive specs simply because they are able to do more than just deal damage, they can bring other heels and utility that come to the class in a basic level because all classes for example have basic spells that all of these specializations have access to with the specialization or the quantum code subclass which gives you access to a more specialized set of abilities, the reason why I choose to go over this now with paladins because paladin is the first quote unquote hybrid that we're going to cover uh we're covering in this list so I thought it would be a good time to explain this information now but again, retribution paladins deal two handed damage , tons of utility and offensive capability, now our next class we have is hunters, hunters feel at home in the wild and have a special affinity with beasts, they depend on their weaponry and their pet to cause damage and , in terms of your three specializations, you have a beast mastery hunter who focuses a lot on the pet itself and you will play this as a ranged game. style, you also have a marksmanship hunter that focuses more on you as the ranged damage dealer that deals more damage to you and finally you have a survival hunter that actually turns the class into a melee specialization that focuses on explosives , animal poison and coordinate attacks with your pet, so if you want to play hunter more of a melee style of play, survival will be for you, the next class we have of course is our rogue, our stereotypical stealth rogues that deal damage serve as assassins or scouts, although some are also lone wolves, Rogues can often sneak past enemies or attack an opponent from behind, finishing them off quickly.
Now rogues have three different offensive specs, so the hunter had three, as you can see, three damage specs. The rogue also has three damage specs, so the hunter has murder. which puts a big focus on using poisons and point damage and dagger strikes and daggers will be your weapon of choice. You also have outlaw rogues who are somewhat of a swordsman type deal, using agility and cunning for Santoto. their enemies and they use axes, table, swords and fist weapons, but a lot of the skills in their kits can even be pulled out like a little pistol for some of their other skills, so it's like a very, very swashbuckler style of play. and finally we have subtle rogues, which is a dark stalker that leaps from the shadows to ambush unsuspecting prey with a preferred weapon of daggers, so you might be wondering what the difference is between assassination and subtlety.
Subtlety focuses more on thinking about crowd control like stunning opponents and large explosion windows, while since assassination focuses more on point damage, it tends to have a bit more sustained pressure now our next class hybrid will be the priest, my personal favorite class, so priests are well-rounded healers with a variety of tools, however they can also sacrifice their healing to deal damage with shadow magic. Now priests have two healing specializations and one damage specialization and again, similar to the paladin priest, he is considered a hybrid because he is able to perform these multiple different roles, so you have adisciplined priest who uses magic to protect allies from taking damage and heal their wounds and his weapons of choice are staff, he wants dagger and mace.
Now an interesting little note about disk priests, although disk is the abbreviation for discipline that disciplined priests have. a very interesting playstyle where a lot of his abilities actually heal his allies while the priest deals damage, so if you want this kind of offensive healer hybrid deal then the disc priest will really be good for you, he focuses a lot on damage. However, there are shields as opposed to raw healing, so that's something to keep in mind. We also have holy priests who are versatile healers who can reverse damage on individuals or groups and even heal from beyond the grave, so when you die you become this huge archangel. that still heals your ally and you can continue healing your allies, so his weapons are wand, dagger and mace, so you're going to do that.
This is just a stereotypical healer and what you would expect from a priest, now shadow priest, my staff. favorite uses sinister shadow magic and terrifying void magic to eradicate enemies now shadow priests are damage over time that's their main focus they do a lot of point pressure a lot of constant overtime pressure but the good thing is that they also add a ton of utility and healing from that base priest kit, so if you like the combination of point damage as well as being able to have a ton of utility, the shadow priest will be for you now, our next class will be the shaman now.
Shamans use the power of the elements to enhance their weapon by damaging weapon damage or spells and shamans can summon totems in combat small objects that disable enemies, heal or deal damage to enemies now your three specs for shaman you have two specs of damage and a healing specialization, you have elemental shaman who basically uses the power of the elements from afar, so you basically become a range spellcaster, enhancement shamans, you focus more on melee and use them up close and then restoration shaman is your healer specialization where you use the healing powers of water to repair allies' wounds.
Which is really cool, Shamans have a lot of utility through totems and other abilities in their base kit, so if you really want the power of the elements, the Shaman will be the perfect class for you now that we have all-powerful mage In World of Warcraft, Mages are the iconic magic users of Azeroth who learn their craft through intense research and study and compensate for their light armor with a powerful array of offensive and defensive spells. Now the mage has three dps specs, he is not pure. like the shaman and priest, it is a purely offensive class, it is not a hybrid take on the priest, it is a purely offensive class, so you have three specializations again arcane, so you can manipulate raw arcane magic destroying enemies with overwhelming power again, staff preferred weapons. swans, daggers and swords, you have fire magic, which again is self explanatory, you focus more on fire and then you have frost, where you focus more on frost magic. um, I also totally realized that I stopped going over armor types, warrior, paladin. they are in plate hunter they are in male rogues they are in leather priests they are in light armor shamans they are in mail mages they are in light armor now for our next light armor class we also have the warlock warlocks cast fire or shadow magic to damage, drain and curse their enemies and summon demons as servants and again, this is a triple dps class, so we have three offensive specs, the first affliction being, a master of shadow magic who specializes in draining skills and damage over time, so with a weapon option, the staff daggers. and swords, so for the warlock, well, if you want a very point-centric, stereotypical class, that's what the affliction warlock is going to do for you, now they have a more pet-centric spec, which is demonology, or You can be the commander of the demons that twist souls. of your army into devastating power so if you want to put it back think of it as a different version of a BM hunter, if you want to focus more on your demons that's what demonology will be and then if you want to do a great deal.
Powerful bursts with fire magic, you will want to play the destruction warlock who is a master of chaos who summons fire to burn and demolish enemies, really big burst damage from afar and who uses a lot of chaos magic, he can still use some of the demons too, so if you want a demonic flame thrower, you have the warlock in the destruction spec, our next class will be the monk, our fist and melee fighter, monks are known for their skills and hands and by fighting by relying on their fists and feet as weapons, monks can also specialize in summoning restorative powers from their Misty Heel allies.
Now the monk uses leather similar to the paladin, although they have a dps specialization, a healing specialization and a tank specialization, the brewmaster is going to use be our tank, who is a robust fighter who uses unpredictable moves and mystical concoctions to avoid damage and protect allies. We have also missed the weaver monk, who is a healer who masters the mysterious art of manipulating life energies aided by the wisdom of the jade snake and then finally we have Wind Walker, who is a peerless martial artist who beats enemies with hands and fists. Now the good thing about monks is that if you like a really very mobile monk class, it will be one of your favorites, the healer, the dps specs and the tank, all extremely offensive, your preferred weapons are stabs and polearms in For the most part, you can also use them as windwalker, fists, axes, maces and swords, but if you want to feel like a real martial artist, the monk will be the class for you. our next class is the druid, the only class in the game with four specializations, the druid can do almost everything, so if you are not really sure what you want to do in the game, the druid will be a very good class to choose from because they have a ranged dps spec, a melee dps spec, a tank, and a healer spec, so they really could do almost everything.
Druids are now shapeshifters with an affinity for the plant and animal kingdom. Druids can specialize in healing by casting ranged spells or Take the form of a cat or bear to fight in close quarters, our four specializations, although they are balanced, balance is the first and will be our range spec and you can change forms to a powerful lunar leukocyte that balances the power of the arcane and nature. magic to destroy enemies wild druid you take the form of a big cat to deal damage with bleeds and bites, making it an offensive, melee offensive playstyle with point focus, as you will rake your allies with those bleedings, we have the guardian. druid if you want to take off in the form of the mighty bear to absorb damage and protect allies and finally we have the restoration druid where you can channel powerful nature magic to regenerate and fight again, revitalize allies and you can even enter in what is called tree form to simply embrace the true power of nature to heal your allies a very very fun class again you have the shape changing elements you can deal damage from close or far and the druid too is a leather using class, our next leather wearing class is the only class with two specializations and that is the demon hunter.
Now keep in mind that demon hunters need to have a character that is at least level 70 or you won't be able to create a demon hunter, now demon hunters like I said you have two specs, you have a dps spec and a spent tank, They are not like the druid hybrid that has a little bit of everything, demon hunters, they can even tank or dps and you have a specialization for each option, you have demon hunters ravages. which focus on using war polish and the destructive power of fel magic and these are the war glades, really cool weapons and then you also have vengeance where you embrace the demon within to incinerate enemies and protect allies.
Now demon hunters are the hero class that entered. legion, so they started at a high level and demon hunters are dark outcasts that use forbidden demonic magic to hunt and kill their enemies, they are followers of illidan stormrage and if you want a fairly simple class with a lot of mobility to play, the demon hunter will be for Now, the final class is our other hero class, which is the former followers of Arthas, the Lich King, and that is the Death Knight. The Death Knight is, uh, starts at a high level and similarly the Demon Hunter isn't as high.
Death knights are a plate wearing melee class that focuses on damage through disease and dark magic, but they can also be tanks, they are not just pure damage dealers for the tank spec, we have the blood, as that a manipulative dark guardian corrupts life energy. to sustain against the enemy attack and then we have two offensive specializations, one uses a pet and the other does not, we have the frost dk, which is a frozen omen of doom that channels runic power, which is its secondary resource that launches weapon attacks fierce and you can be two-handed going to shadowlands or two-handed, unholy who is also two-handed or, excuse me, also two-handed is the master of death and decay, so if you want to focus on damage of points, unholy will be for you, spreading infections and controlling undead minions to do your bidding in such an unholy manner is also a very pet-centric class, so it's something to keep in mind.
Additionally, blood disintegrations also tank with a two-handed weapon, which is something to keep in mind. They don't tank with a sword and shield like warriors and paladins, they tank with a two handed weapon so I know this section was a little longer but I really wanted to go over all of the wow classes and go over their specializations aka as their subclasses, just so that when they start they can have a better idea of what all the classes have to offer and make a very well informed first decision about who they want to be their first character for the next part of the In this guide we are going to go over the interface in world of warcraft and with any mmo the interface can be a really daunting thing at first when you look at it so the section might be a little longer because i really want to try it.
Go over all the different pieces of the UI so you really understand what each piece does and don't get confused when you look at it. I'm running some addons in World of Warcraft, which for those of you who don't know. What an addon is, it's basically exactly what it sounds like, it's something you can add to your game to have extra functionality, change the look of something to make it a little nicer for you, etc. I'm running a few but overall my UI isn't that different from the base one so when you log in it will look pretty similar to mine so don't worry because you know yours will look totally different than that I have.
To start going over these things, we're going to start at the top left, move to the top right and then go down to everything else, like the menus and everything, and the first thing we have is our character portrait here, this will be shown. you, your character's name, a picture of him, his level, his health and any resources now, if you want to target someone just go and click on him now, when you click on him you will also be able to see his health, your resource. and a picture of them as well as their level, the golden dragon means it's an elite enemy and if it's a gray dragon it means it's an elite rare enemy so it's a little harder to find now let's say If you're in a fight or something and you want to keep track of what a certain monster is doing or if you're in pvp and you want to keep an eye on a certain enemy player, you can do what's called setting it as your focus, so basically you do it. which you just right click on your character or excuse me on your targets panel and you can set focus from there, it just sets them as a focus target for you so you can always keep an eye on what they're doing.
Let's say I decide to aim at someone else instead, I can still see what my focus target is doing even though I'm physically aiming at someone else, so that's a good thing to keep in mind, uh, for when you play and if you ever do. you want. To clear this focus you can simply right click and clear the focus now besides the target frames that were added in the base will appear here in the parttop left and if you want to move them you can just right click and move the frame. and you can unlock them and move them wherever you want, top right, we have our benefits.
These are our buffs at the top right here so you can see the buffs that are currently running on your character and a buff is basically a beneficial effect. that your character has now, let's say there is a certain buff on your character that you no longer want to be on your character, just hover over it, right click and then it will remove any debuffs from your character. on your character, what are the negative effects, they will appear here to the left of your mini map and you will be able to see them listed here, their durations and what are their effects now, a lot of the icons surrounding my mini map are add-ons, so basically you can ignore these three here.
I just want to focus on the calendar and tracking so that the minimap, as you can see here, shows where I am. You can see the arrow here and then a bunch of icons. that I've set up around me and the way you set up those icons is by clicking on the magnifying glass here and from there you can check certain boxes to see, you know, highlight anything that you want in particular, you can also go to the list. of the townspeople and see which townspeople you want to highlight as well and you know, if you want to always know where, let's say, a repairman is, you can go here and click on repair so that it will always show you where a blacksmith is when you enter a city so it's something to keep in mind when you look at your mini map, if you want to zoom in or out you can click on the plus or minus sign and wow, it also includes sports and game calendar so you can go. to the calendar and your guild can set up events here, you can see where certain world events are taking place for World of Warcraft and basically just sign up and schedule things here in the in-game calendar, which is really nice now if you want to access it. your map, you can click this little icon at the top right or click the key combination about or on the map, which defaults to m, which allows you to open your minimap and take a look at it now.
The nice thing is that your map shows your quest log here on the right, showing you that you know where the quests will be located on your map and it will also show you the type of subareas you are in, so this is the world you can go to , let's say delve into Azeroth. zandalar zuldazar and then from here again you can see all these different places. You can click on the dropdown menus and go to different places if you want, but it just shows you a little bit of what you like, let's say like a file organizer of where you are. in the world, so to speak, right click zooms out and left click zooms in and like I said, you can see all the progress of your mission here on the right.
You can also do it if you want to just click on your quest log down here or use that icon, but again the world map will appear and put your quest log here right now, in addition to the minimap, we have our quests here, so you can hide them or show them if you want now. a question mark means that the quest is complete and needs to be turned in uhotherwise you know it will only be shown, let's say for this quest, right? I need to get two torn pages of the final truth so it doesn't show up as fact yet.
If you look here on the mini map, the exclamation point. it means there is a quest that needs to be gathered so you could go to that quest and gather it an orange quest usually means it's a story quest a yellow quest means it's just a normal quest and a blue quest means it's daily or even weekly , orange can usually mean it's more related to the expansion, so usually orange, for example, I'm in the battle for Azeroth recording this, so the orange quest marker has to do with something related to my necklace , which is an Azeroth element-specific battle, so that's something to keep in mind with the orange exclamation points.
Now from there we have our skill bar, so on a base you will have the skill bars down here. I expanded them to include additional skill slots. because I needed them and you could also see your keybinds here. Now I'll go over the combat in a moment. You know, I'll just explain what all these buttons you know do and your goals with them, but in general these are. where all your skill bindings are, by clicking certain keys or clicking on the skill itself with the mouse I can make those skills activate and if I use a skill for example it will show the cooldown of how much you know When you might use that skill again, so that's something to keep in mind when looking at your skill bar.
You can also have your skills locked to your skill bar, so if I try to click and drag it, I win. I won't be able to do that and instead I'll have to hold down the Shift key to click and drag it now. Something really interesting about the abilities is if you want to target yourself, I know this is kind of um off. By the way, if you ever want to be targeted yourself, you can set up a keybind in your settings. If you enter the interface and enter combat, you can set an autocast key to do certain skills, target yourself, and then automatically. -cast will make it so that whenever you don't have a friendly target it will automatically come to you, so I just wanted to throw that out since we were talking about skill bars, but it's the quick and dirty version of skill bars is that it will show you what abilities you have and the cooldown times of them.
Now you also have your cast bar so every time you cast your cast bar will appear down here so that's something to keep in mind plus we also have our bag so here you'll be able to see your bags now my bags are They show in one window on a base, multiple windows will be shown, one window per bag, you have one base backpack and then four additional bags that you can get and you can get different bags with different sizes, so make sure you visit a bag dealer or go to the auction house to buy a bag for yourself and make sure you expand that inventory as much as you can, plus we have our character panel, our character panel shows our you know, the equipment shows what our character looks like, shows our various attributes and substats, these are called upgrades, you can see your character's item level, which is the total level of all the equipment your character carries, you can see the titles you have acquired by doing a lot of different things in World of Warcraft, you can see a equipment manager and you can create different sets of equipment for different purposes, let's say one for pvp and another for pve, you can see your character name and title, your level. and your subspecies and class, you also have another tab for your reputation, which is the reputations you have with different factions in World of Warcraft, these are usually npc factions and you also have your currency tab, which shows a list of all the different coins you have.
That's basically not gold, gold is shown in your bags here at the bottom, but any other currency can be shown here in the currency tab of the character information panel. We also have our skill book panel which will show you all your skills for your class and specs as well as your passives, you can also see the general tab which will show you any racial assets you have racial passives, any guild perks, um and everything that, general things that do not follow your class specifically, you also have your professions. tab that will show you your two main professions and your three minor professions, like sub-professions, so to speak, so that each class can and each character can have two main professions, so I chose herbalism and mining and then, but I can't get any other .
The main ones besides these two, if I ever wanted to, say, pick up blacksmithing, I would have to unlearn herbalism or mining in order to become a blacksmith. Now I can't, no character can learn cooking, fishing and archaeology, besides his main two. professions you also have your specs tab now I went over the specs in the last section but if you want you can change your specs here so right now I'm a shadow priest but if I wanted to play say a holy priest I would just do click on holy and I would click on activate a very very simple and simple way to be able to switch between the different specs and then my talent book here, my skill book here, what to upgrade with the holy tab and I could get access to all of those skills now, in addition to being able to change your specialization, you can see your talents here.
These are additional abilities or passives that you get in each group, like in each group of levels, so for example I get one at 15 30 45 60 75 90 and 100 this is in Battle for Azeroth and these levels and the levels in the that you get certain passives will change to be different breakpoints when the shadow lens is cast, in addition to these bass talents that you get, you also get specific pvp talents that are only active when you are in pvp, you can also activate war mode if you want , which will activate world pvp, is a kind of incentive for you to take the risk of world pvp, what this one does is that you can increase the mission reward experience, but it is gained by 10. and it also enables pvp talent in the outdoor world.
However, you have to go to your faction's main city to activate this, but it can be disabled as long as you are in a city center or any other city center, so it is something you should keep. In mind, in addition to the specs and talents, we also have the achievements tab that will show you the various achievements that you have completed on your account. Achievements are generally account-wide, some are character-specific, but overall achievements are account-wide, which is great. so you have your achievements, you can see guild achievements and various statistics about your character. You also have the quests tab which I reviewed earlier.
You have the guilds and communities tab. Basically this will show you the guilds you are in and any communities you have joined a guild is a group of players on a specific server who can play together you have access to a guild tabard, a guild bank and it will show a little thing under your character's name when you're running around the world showing what guild are you a part of? Community, on the other hand, think of it as a cross-server guild, basically, but you don't have the tabard or the bench, um, or anything like that under your character's name when you're running.
It's like for chat purposes or to be able to get other people to run dungeons or pvp, it's exactly what it sounds like, it's a community of players on many different servers and if you play horde n a, you can join the point game community. The link will be in the description below and will include instructions on how to enter the community now if you are looking for a guild. As a new player you can click on the performance finder and you will be able to search for any guild you want or might be interested in joining now, in addition to the guild tab we also have the group finder tab which is going to allow you to search for raids in dungeons or you can even go to the pre-made party finder and let's say you want to find someone to go on a heroic raid with you.
You would go to raids, you look for a group and you can find a group here in the player vs player list, you could do a quick pvp match, a battleground, uh, battlegrounds, I'll go over that a little bit later in the guide, You've rated the pvp and then you also have pre-made groups for player vs player. activity, so let's say I want to go to ranked arena because in ranked arena you can't just queue, you need to find a partner before and get a full group before queuing, I just click on arenas, find group and then from there .
I could look through the available groups and, you know, sign up for one if I'm interested in playing with someone or I could start a group myself, set the parameters and someone can sign up to play with me when they arrive. to dungeons and stuff like I mentioned before you basically want to choose your role so you can play dps healer or tank if your class is capable of tanking and then you can queue for a random dungeon or a specific dungeon and queue specifically for dungeons that you might be interested, same with the raid finder, uh, you could actually play the raids, which is the end game pve content, looking for the raid difficulty, which is the lowest raid difficulty in the game and you can go back to queue for your choice roll and then queue for any specific part of the rage you want.
Now I will review the raidsgenerally later, but when you queue for a raid, it's the lowest difficulty if you want to do the higher level raids to get the higher level loot, you will need to find a premade group, which is what the finder is for of prefabricated groups. You can also see your Mythic Keystones, which is a typical endgame activity, but it's basically just that you can keep track of the highest difficulty dungeon you've done. Mythic dungeons are of higher difficulty and you can then upgrade them further with mythic keystones, but I'll go over that a little later in the dungeon section. but this will show you your highest keystone for the week, in addition to dungeons we also have collections where you can see your mount list, your pet list, your toy list, any relics you have for your account, which is basically a type of equipment that you can create and wear while leveling up and then any appearance that you can use for your character to transform into.
I'll go over transmog later in the guide, but it's basically like an outfit changer so you can see whatever appearance you have. collected here and you can use these skins to make your armor look different, you know, it looks different, so it will show you the list of skins that you have here. We also have our adventure guide that shows you suggested content to look for. in the different dungeons, what bosses are there, what loot they drop, same for raids and then you can also look for different sets of items that you might have access to.
We also have access to the microtransaction store that I mentioned earlier in the guide. so you can click on that by clicking on the store link and then you will also have help or you can access this by clicking escape and you will have access to a bunch of different menus, you have help shopping, you can see what's current and wow , you have your system settings interface edit keybind macros, uh, you can look at your addon list, log out, exit the game, or return to the game, but that pretty much covers everything in the UI. Oh, I only have the chat box.
You have your chat box here at the bottom. On the left you can see, uh, it's like a general chat that has all your chat stuff, you have your combat log and then I also made a separate window for whispers, so basically what you can do is if you want to alter your chat. box, you can just right click on it and it will give you a bunch of different settings. You can rename the window, create a new window, go into settings, and modify all the different settings for your chat box, but you can totally customize the chat box to your liking.
Down here, but in a base you will only have the general, who will have all your various chats and then your combat logs so you can see what actions you have taken and what actions have happened to you specifically. So let's say something kills you and you're not sure what killed you, you can go and look at the combat log, but one more thing I want to mention with the chat box is the general chat windows and what you can. wait when you want to write to other people, so if you cut one, that will be the general chat for your area, slash two, if you are in a major city, it will give you the business chat that covers all the major cities, eh, slash three is your home defense, so basically let's say you're in the horde and the alliance is attacking, you know your camp in a certain area, you can write to all three channels to basically say, hey, we're under attack, I need help, uh, the cut four goes to Usually any community you're in slash p is your group chat slash i is your instance chat, so let's say a dungeon or a battlefield slash g is your guild chat, there are others , but those are the main ones you want to pay for Attention, I could also slash whisper and then type someone's name, so if I want to whisper let's say one of my Battle Net friends, I could slash whisper and then start typing the name of the person and see if they are online, but you know that in this case there is no one.
If you get whispered, you can type slash r to respond to whispers, but I thought I'd quickly go over a couple of different chat commands so you can talk to people more easily while playing. world of warcraft that's the full UI for world of warcraft, so hopefully that gives you a better explanation of what you're seeing in your UI when you first log into the game. The next section I'm going to go over very quickly is plugins, as I mentioned in the last plugins section. There are things you can add to the game to add additional functionality to the game or change the look and feel of the game.
Now I'm going to make a separate guide covering my specific plugins, my settings for the plugins, and what my entire UI looks like. I like it and how my whole UI looks and how to know how to duplicate what I have, but if you're interested in installing plugins, you can technically install them manually, but there's a much easier way to do it and what I would do. is to download the Twitch app to your desktop or laptop and use it to download and manage all of your addons, so basically what you're going to want to do is download the Twitch app which You're going to want to click on the Mods tab and from there you'll be able to see the list of addons for your specific game so you can click on World of Warcraft and see what addons you have installed.
Or click Get More Addons to browse a variety of addons you can get for World of Warcraft and install them yourself to make your UI look the way you want it to look in the next section of our guide. Inventory and Banking Now, as I mentioned in the UI section of the guide, you have a base bag size here at the bottom right, you only have a default backpack which will give you a certain amount of space, but you can expand this space with four additional bags and basically whenever you buy a bag from an auction house or a bag dealer you will be able to get additional bags as you can see.
Here I have four 30-slot bags that add an additional 120 slots to my inventory. I also use the Bagnon addon to put them all in one window which I find extremely useful so this is just a way to get extra inventory for your character now if you want to store your character stuff without putting it in your bag you can go to the bank note, this bank has a specific character, when you go to the bank you can basically have exactly the same type of user interface that you have with your bags, you have a base bank size and then from there you need to expand it with additional bags now to be able to use additional bags in your bank.
You will have to purchase this space from the bank. Sorry, these are banker's own bag slots, so keep in mind this will cost. you some gold to get the initial investment to be able to unlock these slots. Once you unlock them, you can place bags there similar to what you do with your real player inventory to expand your bank space now. If you choose to buy it, you can also buy the reagent bag which will greatly expand your bench inventory and is used exclusively for reagents, so it's like ores and herbs and just things that are used for crafting, you have a storage space for that, so that it doesn't clutter up the rest of the space in the usual banking slots, but this is just a quick overview of the stock and banking slot and how it works in World of Warcraft, the next section I'm going to cover is the titles and reputation.
Now I know I gave you a nod in the UI section, but I really wanted to highlight reputation, especially once again, just because it plays a huge role in World of Warcraft, so when you open your character panel, uh . You can see that titles are earned by doing a variety of different things and from getting replays to certain points to getting achievements, it's basically just a way to show off your achievements in wow and basically have a certain title attached to it. in your name to show that this is something I have done. I'm this person who's done this, so it's really cool that you can display your achievements visually on your character in addition to just having them in your achievement tracker, but the biggest thing I want to talk about in this is reputation.
There are now a ton of different factions in Wow that you could technically gain reputation with, they are those from your specific faction and those from the specific expansions they are now receiving. these ex uh these high reputations are very, very important for a lot of different things and sometimes certain character progression requires you to gain reputation with a certain faction so you know certain things that you might want and reputation is just how a faction tells you. Look, are you very friendly with them? do they worship you? Are you the champion of their cause or all that you exalted and they simply appreciate all that you have done for them?
You know, basically, the tldr is have you been screwed? enough quests and done enough things to make them like that faction enough to be able to get the things you want and the reason why it's important and just to use an example from when you're in the battle for Azeroth today. Expanding on when I'm doing this guide you can get essences for your necklace and you can basically think of essences as other passive and active buffs your character can have now one of the passive things I'm using is called Breath of the Dying and my spells and abilities have a chance to hit my target for additional damage and heal you for 50 of the damage dealt and grant me additional resistance to corruption, which is a specific system with the Battle for Azeroth expansion I'm using. this as an example to show why representation is important if I want to get the next rank of this skill of this essence uh and improve it.
I need to be revered with the uldum agreement so I can get to the uldum agreement quartermaster to interact with them and actually purchase the death joy token that will give me the top rank for the essence I need. There is also a different achievement called Pathfinder that will generally allow you to fly in the current expansion where many times you need to have certain reputations honed to a certain level, at a certain point, to be able to fly in those specific areas, so pay attention to your reputation with certain factions and groups it is actually very important for you to know. being able to do certain things or buy certain things that you might want to get and how to increase and improve these reputations with different factions will depend on the faction, it will depend on a lot of different things, so feel free to spice up your fashion.
Quick Google search if you want to see how to improve your reputation with them, the next part of this guide will cover keybinding and movement and although I plan to publish a separate guide to cover this, I want to comment on it. here in the complete beginner's guide just so if you watch this video you understand how to get started in the game with good keybinding and movement habits so for those of you who may not know anything about this what is the key combination? you just map your keys to perform certain actions, for example, m is your default amount, a map keybind, you know it's a keybind, you press your key and something happens now, which you'll want to do in World of Warcraft.
You'll want to bind all of your various skill slots to one key on your keyboard - while you can technically use the mouse to left-click on skills and have them activate, it's infinitely more efficient to keep your key skills in mind. It is a good habit to develop much faster. You will be 100 times more efficient than someone who clicks on skills. You will simply be able to react faster. Get things done faster. You will have faster access to everything. It's simply the best way. To do this now, in addition to binding all your abilities, I also recommend changing the way you move by default, so that when you default, you know that you start playing World of Warcraft and that your w key will move you.
Go forward, your d will turn you left, your d key will turn you right, and your s key will turn you back. Now, in my opinion, you're going to want to change this like you can see. When you make the keyboard rotate with the keys, the arc is quite wide with the way you rotate, but if, for example, you rotate the mouse, I mean you can move as fast as you can shake the mouse, you know, so you can do it more easily. actually turn your character and move him in the direction you want to go, so what I would recommend doing in terms of movement keybinds is I would use w to move forward, a to move left, or to strafe left. left, instead of d to the right and use your right button, hold and clickright to turn your character.
I know some people have a lot of keyboards with really weird movements with how they choose to do them, but I think just using wad is a really, really easy way to learn how to do it correctly. move in wow without completely rethinking like reinventing how you think about moving in a video game especially if you know an mmo this is how I would recommend changing your movement and again like I said the reason you want to do it is just because it allows you move more efficiently than if you were turning the keyboard, I mean look how much faster I can jump and go in a straight line doing a 360 turn, but if I was turning the keyboard like you I know maybe you can go 45 degrees in a I just jump, you know, so it allows you to move your character much faster and much more efficiently now in terms of how to combine keys with your abilities, although I know you're probably looking at my bars. and going to points, you have a lot of skills, you know, I really don't know how I'm supposed to keep behind that, one thing that will absolutely help you and I'll leave a link in the description below, like you could absolutely. get an mmo mouse um personally i don't play wow without one um i use a razer naga trinity i will leave an affiliate link in the description below if you want to support the channel pick one up for yourself um i usually use it for my arena goal uh, that's usually what I have on my mouse, so I have my mouse for all my objectives and my left hand on my keyboard to do all my abilities, which has been an effective way that works for me again, develop your own. systems, but that's what works for me, normally I'll use one to five as my main abilities that I use all the time, you know, and then again you have to develop your own system, so I usually use q for my stuns and for my breaks or silences um I'll use f if I have another cc t is always my run uh from turn one to turn five are always big cooldowns that I have in the game, so basically cooldowns are abilities that will continue like this.
So a cooldown is like when you use scale, how long until you can use it again. For example, I'll put in long cooldown abilities that I can't use very often and that can only be used infrequently. that in the shift modifier so that I don't accidentally miss clicking on them, I don't touch them with my thumb and so that they are in a comfortable enough location that I can hit them easily, but not so comfortable that I accidentally click on them You know what I'm saying so you just need to develop your own systems and usually the way I did it is I used all the keys around my movement keys so I have one to five uh qert s f g z x c y v and then um I think I said g and then I also use six and then I change I modify all of those with the exception of six I don't change I modify six um and then because that's like a big scope for me and then I use tilde to make my mount and then I change the space to my flying mount, so again you develop your own systems, but I recommend setting up some keybinds from the beginning.
Think about a system and how you want to do it if you want. pause the video and see how I have my keybinds. You could copy my system if you want, but I would recommend keybinding from your early days in wow because I remember when I started playing World of Warcraft. I turned the keyboard and clicked on my skills and when I started playing arena with one of my friends and he started teaching me how to press keys and move properly, I had to unlearn a lot of my old bad habits to be able to start doing it. correctly, but if you start playing correctly with your movements and key combinations from day one, you will develop good habits and can learn to be more efficient much faster than someone who doesn't do it correctly the next day.
What I'm going to cover are macros. Macros are basically like custom skills that you can write yourself, so for example what you do is you just press Escape, click macros, you have general macros that are account-wide or specific macros. macros for your character now I'm just going to go over, eventually I'll make a separate guide for macros because you can get pretty in-depth with them, but I'll just give you a rough idea of what some macros can do now the most common macro you'll typically see when playing World of Warcraft is a focus macro. Focus macros are probably the most common ones you'll see, so for example I have a focus mute.
I've now gone over what a focus lens is in the UI section, so if you haven't, I'd give it a look now. What my focus mute will do is cast mute on my focus target, so what I can do is I can do it, you know, pound, show tooltip, mute, so we'll show tooltip for my mute, I press Enter, I slash, target equals focus, space, mute and I use the square brackets now, the thing is like let's say I'm trying to mute. this guy here jahi right if I'm trying if I'm trying to silence him I'm not saying I have him focused now what I would have to do while playing is I would have to say I'm going to go okay he needs to be silenced.
I would have to click on it and then click on my usual mute. keybind okay and let's say I was attacking this moth right here and I wanted to attack it I want to attack it but I noticed John was casting a skill like I said I would have to switch targets so jahi would cast silence and then switch back to the moth As you can see, there are a couple of steps in that process, but if I have a macro that just automatically projects silence onto the focus target, I can just click a button and press Shift and y without releasing my target. without changing anything I can instantly mute my focus lens, so that's what macros are really good for.
The same goes for me having a defensive cooldown called scatter on my shadow priest that puts me in a state similar to what I don't have. I don't really take much damage and I can move pretty fast, but I can't throw or do anything while I'm in that form and now let's say I'm spreading out and I'm, you know, running. Trying not to die and need to get out of my scatter very, very quickly to do anything right. I will say that I need to exit to do something and I would have to bring the mouse to the top of the screen and right click. and then I would get rid of the buff or I do what's called cancel or a macro where I do a cancel or a spread and if I just click the six button on my mouse, it will automatically cancel my spread so you can Look, macros just allow you doing things a little more efficiently than if you didn't like macros, certain things.
I'm going to have a separate macro guide, though it will be up on the channel very soon, depending on when you're watching. This may already be available and will go over all the intricacies of macros, but I just wanted to give you a rough idea. In this guide, the next thing I will cover is guilds and communities. We covered them in the UI section, but again I just want to highlight them here so you can fully understand what they are, so a guild is exactly what it sounds like, it's a group of players that play together.
In World of Warcraft it is like a guild in any other mmo. You have all your players in the guild. You have different ranges that you can set. You have a list that you can see if you click on the guild tab. Below you can have your list that you can see. You also have different advantages for being in a guild, so it is very beneficial to be in a guild. You gain the passive mount that increases your movement outside of the battlefield and the arena. speed on your mount by 10, reduces the cooldown of your hearthstone by 15 minutes, gives you access to a mobile bank, increases health gained when resurrected by 50 percent, increases movement speed while dead around out of 10 again it's not a bg arena and you also get Guild Mail which allows you to send mail between guild members instantly so you get some nice perks for being in the guild.
You can also buy some cool stuff from the guild, since guilds have a lot of benefits, so it's definitely good to be in one, uh, you can also see any information about your guild here, uh, but basically guilds are just groups of players playing together, whether it's pvp, pve, etc., and you can use them when you're, you know, running in the game, like I'm running towards us. say a different player here on the right, you can see under this guy's name, you can see in parentheses, you can see his guild name so it can show which guild he's in now, guilds are server specific so It's something to consider.
You cannot be in a guild with someone from a different server, however you can be in a community with someone from a different server, so depending on your needs you may want to focus on being in a guild or community, but the best thing is to be in both, so I have my guild for a certain purpose and it's in case I ever want to do heroic raids and get access to these specific benefits, but my main focus is my points gaming community, which If you are interested in joining as I said in the UI section there is a link in the description below.
Now think of a community as kind of a cross-server guild, while the guild has access to the tabard, you know, which will be a tabard for your character so you can kind of change it, depending on what your guild crest looks like, you can use that shield on your character, you get access to a guild bank which you can access by going to any area of the bank and there will be a place where you can click for a guild. bank, um, you have all the benefits and so on, the main purpose of a community is simply to be a group of people from different backgrounds who have a common interest, a common goal, um, etc., who want to be able to talk and communicate with each other now.
Communities are region and faction specific, so you can't have, say, alliances and horde people in a community. Guilds are kingdom, region, and faction specific, but communities are only region, faction specific, so for me in my community, the people in the horde are capable. join and so the main benefit of the community is that once again it is possible for people in the dot gaming community to talk to each other, relax and chat while playing World of Warcraft if I ever want to run BG with someone. run arena uh if we ever have enough people we could maybe do some easier raids that can bring in people from the community, invite them all into a big group and be able to play together.
This also gives you a chat window where you can chat and ask people questions, so it's just a way to meet people with common interests and if you don't know any guilds or communities, you can go to the community or guild finder, which will allow you to find guilds and communities, and apply if they seem interested or seem like something you want to join, but normally I would recommend that if you're really looking for a gilding community, you can go to reddit, you can check out the official forums and find places. where you can join, the next section will cover equipment stats, durability, and item level rarity and I'm going to explain this section backwards the way I just listed it because I think explaining it that way is going to make it easier. a little understanding of the gearing part of the process and in fact the gearing will vary a little depending on the expansion, but I will try to explain things in general terms so you have a rough idea of how it works. works now in terms of item rarity, there are a lot of different rarities in World of Warcraft, with orange being the highest and gray being the lowest.
Orange will be legendary. You have purple, which is epic, blue is rare, green is rare, white is. common and gray is poor, so obviously, in general, the higher the rarity, the better the item. You also have the durability of the item. As you can see on my gloves here, I have 55 out of 55 durability once that durability reaches zero my armor piece will break and I need to go to a person to repair the item. You will usually be able to see that person on your minimap as indicated by an anvil. If you go to them, they can repair your equipment and your equipment actually Work again, now speaking of items, there is another thing called item level that you are going to notice here on my character sheet and that you see when you do this.
I have item level 462. That is the average item level of your Team now, what is the item level? Although it is exactly what it seems, it is the real power level of its elements, so, inright clicking will start your guy to really try to attack you, so as you can see I went in instantly. a combat stance to start attacking, but since I'm going to use a melee weapon, obviously I won't, but if I was in melee range, I would automatically attack with my weapon, um, if you have it, for example, If I had a bow in my hands.
Right now I would be shooting this guy with the bow with my auto attacks by right clicking and again if you're in melee range and I could show you as an example one of these guys right here if I get up close. for them, right click and you will see how I am automatically attacking with my weapon. You know, I just auto attack with my weapon, I just sit here doing nothing and just use my weapon to attack. Now from here you have a couple of different options to use other abilities. So what I could do is, if I wanted to, I could press two to apply my points and press tab to cycle through them.
You could also click with the mouse, but as I explained in the previous section, I absolutely recommend using key combinations. instead, um, and obviously, when my target's health reaches zero, he dies, it's Wow combat in general, it's pretty simplistic, it's not like, in terms of face value, it's not like other systems combat where you have to learn to dodge and block, and I. Do those things actively called action combat, this style of combat, you don't have to aim at anything, you just know, click on your skills, they automatically lock and attack your target, so just by pressing my four keys now.
I'm using my mind game, you press tab to change my targets, you apply my point, you press my one key, you press my four and then the targets die now if, for example, you want to cast an ability on an ally, although you would need to target the ally that You couldn't use um like damaging skills, you could only use skills that heal or skills that protect or skills maybe that buff, so for example, if I wanted to cast a skill on the Zandalari fishmonger, I couldn't. use my shadow word void which is an attack skill because it's an invalid target, but I could use something like my word power shield since it's a defensive skill and can help my allies just like you saw green enemies . or excuse me, green targets are friendly, same with friendly players, players are obviously friendly, red means your enemy and yellow means neutral and generally with yellow enemies you can interact with these guys and talk to them no problem, but since they are neutral to you I could still attack them, so let's say this guy was like you know, unlike the way you look at me, I could still attack him anyway and cause damage and normally in the world, uh, as a neutral.
The target, if you start attacking, will attack you back, um, but I guess in this case the guy decided not to do it now every time you use a skill, although it goes on cooldown, so for example, if I look at my master spell, it's 30 yards. Range costs mana and has a casting time, but has a 45 second cooldown, while my vampiric touch has a casting time, a 40 yard range but no cooldown, so if I were to use my spelling mask, now I can't wear it again for 45 seconds. It's okay, because you might be looking at my bars and doing well, it really seems like you have a lot of skills in your bar, like knowing which ones to use and how to know what to do in general, in most classes depending on the difficulty the bar will have. class, as I would say, maybe like a general rotation of three to eight buttons that you want to do, so I'll explain the rotation in a later section, but the tl dr is basically an order in which you want to click. your skills for max damage or healing basically and I have skills that I can click on regularly so normally I would do my two keys with my single key a few times until my five keys glow as is and then I would click on that. and then I'm in my empty form and I basically bounce between one and five every time they're on cooldown and I use four as filler, but it's only five buttons, I didn't say to explain it like that so you understand. my rotation is just to show you the general rotation that I have is like five buttons okay the rest of these things are used situationally okay so for example let's say I need to heal myself while still dealing damage.
I could use Vampiric Embrace here, allowing me to heal a nearby ally or myself for 85 of any single-target shadow spell damage. That ideal, let's say I want to go into my burst and deal a lot of damage. I can use my shadow demons to shum a shadow demon to attack my target for 15 seconds, as you can see, although this has a three-minute cooldown, so I want to use this ability sparingly and only when absolutely necessary. Same with Vampiric Embrace and it's a two minute cooldown so I should really only use this ability when I absolutely need it.
I also have scatter, which is my big defensive cooldown, so what it does is scatter me into pure shadow energy, reducing all damage taken by 75 for six seconds, but I can't do that. basically anything while I'm scattering, but again, two minute cooldown, so you don't want to say okay, I'm taking five damage, let me scatter, you want to save it for when you need it at 100 percent. I have some. However, other abilities I could use, you know, maybe in a defensive pinch, as you can see, my power would protect, I'll apply a shield, I have a heel of my shadow repaired, okay, I could use this to just heal myself. same without any problem.
So, again, the skills you choose to use and how you want to use them depend on the situation you find yourself in. Something to keep in mind though is that if you are, say, aiming, let me go back to using my shield and my ally, for example, added by default that there is a key that you can use to target yourself and that is the key control, so basically we have Huck here, so if I wanted to apply the power word shield to him, I would just click r and He would get the shield if I wanted to apply it to myself while I'm still aiming at him.
He would hold Ctrl and then click r and it would apply to me. It would also automatically apply to myself if I wasn't targeting anyone or an enemy except this section. and the keybinding section as well as the rotation section pretty much go hand in hand, so if you have any questions about combat I would give those sections a look, but the tab that points to cooldown combat is in The base is kind of a low level of understanding and is relatively straightforward, but once you get deeper into the higher level parts of the game, you understand when to use your cooldowns and the most appropriate to use them also while doing your rotation.
That's when things get interesting and that's what separates the best from the best. The next section I will cover is what is known as the Holy Trinity in mmorpgs and then it has to deal with the roles of the various characters that the different characters in Wow can fill and you have a tank, you have a healer and a dealer. damage, known as dps for short. Each of these roles now plays a specific part of the raid group and all share equal importance in your tank role. is that you are willing to protect allies from damage by making sure enemies attack you instead of them, so the goal of tanking is basically to get all the various monsters and enemies in an area to attack them, so Tanks are usually beefy, hard to kill, have tons of armor and abilities at their disposal that help with defense, and are truly what you call tanky, hence the term tanki. comes from when people refer to enemies being hard to kill in mmos comes from that tank roll, the tank is kept alive by a healer and a healer is exactly that, they heal their allies, they heal the tank, they heal to those who cause harm and their work. is to keep everyone alive, so you have your tank, which prevents your enemies from attacking anyone else in the group and taking and absorbing all the damage.
You have your healer, who keeps that tank alive, but you also have your damage dealer, so your role in the dungeon or raid group is to deal the actual damage to the enemies, so as you can see, everyone plays a role. a role in a group, you know, it's very easy to see how the puzzle pieces fit together, the tank makes all the mobs attack. them, the healer keeps the tank alive and then the damage dealers kill all the things while attacking the tank, so that's what's known as the holy trinity of mmos, that's what all the different rules mean and what that fill, when you look at a character and say, okay, you know what this means when it says this spec can tank, you know, or this spec deals damage or the spec heals, that's how all the roles work and this applies to all mmos, but this is how it specifically works in world of warcraft.
The next thing I'm going to cover is specializations and talents, so I went over this a little bit in a previous section, but I just want to cover real quick what specializations are again. basically as a subclass for the class you're playing, so for example I'm playing a priest and I have a choice of three different specializations I can choose from. I have a priest that deals shadow damage. I have a disciplined healer priest and a holy healer priest and the way discipline and holiness treat healing is different, they have different abilities and access to different things and like I said it's like the subclass of your main class if you want a full list of classes and specs, I recommend going back to section six and looking at it where I go over all the different classes and specs and give you a rough idea of what you can expect from each class, but once you choose your spec, you can do so in level 10.
From there, you can choose your talents. Now the talent tree here will look a little different in Shadow Lands. I'm making this video in Battle for Azeroth right now, so it's going to look a little different in terms of the levels here. By the way, but those numbers aside, basically what a talent gift is is a choice of three different talents per level and it gives you access to an additional passive ability or an additional active ability or maybe changes one of your active abilities to another stuff. Basically every few levels, I'm not really sure what these shadow land breakdowns will turn into, but right now it's 15 30 45 60 75 90 and 100 um, you know, I don't know if this will be every few levels.
This will be, but regardless you get your first talent at level 15 and then every x number of levels you get an additional talent, so for example in my 30 talents here, I could choose between my shields making me run faster . I have the option to make my Vampiric Embrace have a lower cooldown or I have the option to make my scatter have a lower cooldown and heal me. I can only have one of these assets at a time and I need to be in a rest area to change these talents. I'll go over rest areas in a later section, but basically any major town or inn is considered a rest area, and as I say this, I know I'm running the wrong way just to show you what it looks like. but basically your talents really help define your character build along with your stat options, as I mentioned in section 14.
You know that your stats play a huge role in your character and certain characters have better stats than others, but when It's about talents, talents play an important role. It also has a very important role, so for example, let's say when I play in Pve I like to use shadow, void does a lot of damage but has a cast time and generally when I play in arena I'm the one who is always attacked by enemies that could interrupt my game. Spellcasting, so I like to use shadow vision, so my shadow word pain, one of my points has a chance to do one of my instants, one of my abilities that deals instant damage, but has a casting time , you have the possibility to do it instantly.
Cast so you can see that different talents fill different niches and serve different purposes depending on what type of content you're dealing with or what you're dealing with, but like I said, basically talents just give you access to more passives, increase your skills. Transform them into different versions, as you can see this will replace one of my skills with the new one, so it will just give you access to more things. You will also have access to pvp talents during Battle forAzeroth. You have access to four, but they come in Shadowlands. it looks like you're only going to have three, you won't have this gladiator medallion which will be an item, but you will get these three additional abilities, uh passives, and again you can choose to have more passives or choose to get additional abilities so you can get the cyphen ability or the passive driven to madness, it just depends on the type of what I want for my particular build and depending on what I'm doing and these things are only active in pvp combat or if I have War Mode on, which I explained in the section of user interface.
If I activate war mode in Orgrimmar, I will have access to these talents in the world, not in dungeons, but in the world. But this is just a quick overview of what specs and talents look like and how they will be incorporated into your character build. The next section we'll cover is the threat of aggression and this section will be primarily appropriate for tanks, but I'm still thinking about damage and healing players. They need to know what threat aggro is and how it works to make sure they don't know how to steal threatened aggro from their tank in a dungeon or qualify.
It's good for everyone to have at least a very basic understanding of how this works. the system works now I'm going to use wowgamepedia.com uh your threat article I think you do a really good job of explaining it but I want to expand on some things and maybe explain some things a little more simply. to make them easier for you to understand, whereas in other MMOS you need to individually taunt all the different mobs or enemies to attack you or even the raid bosses while going out of a measure. threat which is a measure of the npc's aggression towards a player and each npc has their own threat table and a unit at the top of their threat table will be the target of their aggression and all of this is like I said also what How to have aggro now, the way it works is that each unit is added to a threat table upon entering combat and removed at the end of combat and when you enter a fight everyone has zero threat and every npc looks everyone's threat. the different enemies or basically us, what we are looking for is to attack now, the way you can generate threat against an enemy is in several different ways, you can deal damage to the enemy, heal one of your allies or buff friendly targets, okay?
Basically, by doing more actions, you are generating more threat against enemies. Enemies see you as a greater threat. If you're healing a lot or if you're dealing a lot of damage or generating a lot of buffs, you're generating more. threat, so the tank's goal is to try to generate more threat than its allies to ensure that they are being attacked at all times. You can now nullify the threat that is generated towards one of your allies as a tank if you use a taunt ability, there are taunts that will nullify the aggro table for a short period of time and give you a chance to regenerate that threat to ensure that you are the biggest threat to that enemy, now your allies as a tank.
Allies can exceed your threat and gain aggro if they generate 10 percent more threat than you while in melee range or a ranged enemy if they generate 30 more threat while out of melee range, so If an ally in range generates a 30 plus threat, they will take aggro now. The cool thing about tanks is that tanks have threat modifiers because as a tank you might be thinking about how am I supposed to deal enough threat on top or generate enough threat on top of taunting and doing everything else. my allies who are doing all this damage and all this healing, but luckily you have threat modifiers that increase the amount of threat you generate quite a bit and each class has their own threat generator, so for example tanks have a modifier five times greater threat. from blood presence for dks bear form for druids, robust ox stance for monks, defensive stance for warriors, and righteous fury for paladins, so you'll always want to keep those things up to make sure you get a big boost. the amount of threat. that you are spawning against your enemies now many roles have the ability to reposition themselves within a threat table, like I said threat tanks will rise to the top of the taunt, now the good thing as dps and healers is okay is that you will have access Not all classes have certain abilities, but some do have the ability to taunt or threaten another person or reduce the threat.
For example, I play a priest and have access to fading to remove all my threat. 10 seconds, so for example if I start getting attacked and I'm maybe just one position ahead of the tank on the threat table, if I just fade away it removes all my threat instantly, the tank is back on top , the same with misdirection as a hunter. you can say you're generating too much threat, you can divert your tank and all the threat you generate is now generated towards the tank with tricks of the trade, which is a rogue ability, basically the same redirects everyone. threat you cause towards a different party member so again you would use that on your tank and you could also completely remove the threat if you went invisible or became uh you know your enemies won't see you anymore so you're using invisibility for mages or fade away from rogues, which is a good way to do it, but that's basically how tanking works.
I'm also going to summarize it a little more simplistically because I just read the article and gave some obscure notes along the way, but the quick and dirty version is that you just need to generate more threat than your allies. Threat is generated by performing a bunch of actions, from attacking to buffing and healing. As a tank, you have abilities and passives that make you generate more threat than others, so while you deal damage you can make sure you deal the most threat, which will then cause you to have aggro, but if for some reason an ally takes aggro from you, you have teasing to make sure. that you can nullify that aggro to make sure the enemy is only attacking you so you can generate more threat against them.
The next section I'm going to cover is your rotation. Now I hinted at this in combat. section but I wanted to give this just its own section just to give you a rough idea of what a rotation is and what you should think about when doing your rotation now obviously the rotation is going to vary from class to class so I'm just going to talk in terms of my class, which is my shadow priest, now a rotation is defined as an optimal way to click on your abilities to most optimally achieve your goal, whether it's healing damage or generating threat, your Rotation is simply clicking your skills in an optimal order in a rotation to do things most efficiently, but what that really means is that you do it multiple times, so it's not like you do it just once and Whoa, you're done, you've got that rotation. literally, it's a literal term: you rotate it, you do it over and over again and it's the most efficient way to deal damage, so for me as a shadow priest, my general rotation would be to apply my damage over time abilities, use my instant cast ability.
Mind Flay, which is like my filler until this ability comes off cooldown or I go into my void eruption, then I use my void eruption and then I basically alternate between using shadow word void and void ray and then if need to fill at any time I could use half a mine flayer, but then I basically bounce between these things until the void eruption is over and then I rinse and repeat and do that full rotation when I'm obviously trying to get more big burst damage. During maybe, say, a boss fight, I can use things like Shadow Fiend to dish out even more damage.
He could use lucid dream memory, which is an Azurite trait. Sorry, essentially I have to generate more than one. of my resources that just keeps me in my empty form, which is like my way of dealing damage keeps me in that form for a longer period of time, so your rotation will again be generated based on which will vary by person by specialization by class, but that's just Pretty much what it is, so you know when you see guides and things that talk about rotation, so that's what it means, so just to give you an example, let's point, instant launch, launch instant, this guy died real quick, but then I think about skinning this. comes off cooldown so I use it again mind flay okay now we see I have my void eruption so I go to vampiric touch void eruption shadow word void ray there would be used half a mine and then shadow word.void void Bolt and then it only refreshes my points when they need to be refreshed, so as you can see it's just finding the most efficient way for your class to deal damage, that's it basically what a rotation is.
The same applies to healing. You step on your heels. apply them in a certain order, you know how to technically layer them through healers and tanks to make it a little more situational, they don't have as much set rotation as the damage dealers, but they still have it to some extent. They have certain heels that they want to wear in certain situations and they rotate them to keep things as layered as possible on their allies, but I just wanted to give you a quick rundown of what that is and so that when you see that term being used around them.
I know what it means, the next thing I want to cover is enemies and rarity and I already went over this in a previous section but I just wanted to touch on it in its own section so you guys have a rough idea of what it means. It was so the enemies that have their health bars are red and you can see that they are red and then you have the sword icon when you mouse over them, that means they are an enemy unit, if you walk past them you will generate aggro. and they will start attacking you just to show you that if I walk near this guy he instantly starts attacking me because I am within his aggression range and I explained aggression in a previous section so if you want to know what aggression means you can. just feel free to take a quick look at that section, so in addition to the enemy units you also have neutral units.
Neutral units will not attack you unless you attack them. You can attack them, but you can also interact with them and have a friendly interaction with them, but if you choose to attack them, they will become hostile to you and start attacking you instead, not all neutral units will do that, you already know this many times, like the city guards and stuff, or your reputation for them is still neutral like they only have to deal with you, you know it's more a matter of repetition and not so much combat, but in general, the neutral yellow color of the allies or from enemies applies more only when you are in the world. now allies that have a green health bar or have green names to you, that means they are friendly, they can't be attacked, you can't, you can't, attack them or mess with them as much as you can, although you can heal them and buff them . but it just means that you can interact with them in a friendly manner and they won't attack you if you walk past them now.
If an enemy has a golden dragon around their unit frame, it means they are an elite enemy, so they are going to be a much more difficult enemy to fight, so for example all the bosses when you are in a dungeon will be an elite enemy, all trash mobs will be many times, trash mobs will be too, but only in general. elite thing here, this just means it's a much tougher enemy than say something the dragon doesn't have now, if this dragon was gray and not gold it would mean it's also an elite quality enemy, but it's rare , so you know, it doesn't appear as often, it has a much lower spawn timer and will usually have a chance to get special loot, so you can feel free to kill rare enemies when you see them to have a chance to get special loot, but that's just a quick overview of the different types of allies and enemies you'll see in the game, like what the dragon gauges mean and how you can interact with different uh npcs in the world , the next section I want to cover is healing, now I explained it earlier in the sacred place.
Trinity starts from the guide that you will have in the dungeons, you will have a specific person in your party to heal you, you called the healer so that when you take damage and lose HP, they can heal you completely, but let's say you are just outside. the world doing quests and you're alone and you're out there doing quests and stuff and someone starts attacking you and doing damage, let me try to take damage from these things, I'll just show them to you as a For example, what can you do when you take damage? Let me have all these guys deal some damage to me as a class that has the option to heal itself.
You can just use yourown heels, so, for example, I can just simply use my shadow repair now that I finally took some damage. I could use my shadow and heal up to 100. I could also use my damage shield and protect myself from these guys' attacks, so I have a lot. of options you could do, but what if let's say you're like a warrior or something and you don't have much self-healing at your disposal? What are you supposed to do when you take a lot of damage in the world and can't heal well, you have the option to eat food, so for example I have seasoned tenderloins that will restore health and mana for 20 seconds on this mushroom.
I have to stay seated while I eat, so let's say, for example, I'm out, I'm fighting enemies and I need to heal and I don't have heels. I could just quickly sit out of combat, eat some food and my health will regenerate to full quickly and then I can go back out and enter the fight, you also have certain classes that can generate food through their abilities, like mages can generate mana buns and you also have a classic warlock who can generate something called a health stone that gives you an item that when you use it you heal yourself. yourself for a certain percentage of your hp, so these are just some of the different ways you can heal yourself in wow and there are things you should keep in mind when you are out on your adventures or in a dungeon group.
What I want to cover is quests and leveling up, so there are a lot of different quest markers in the world that when you first see them you might feel a little confused and I kind of alluded to them in a previous section, But I did it. I want to give them their own specific section so you can quickly refer to it when you're in the world and want to see that an NPC has a quest for you or a non-player character or just like a computer. The player has a mission for you to do and you can go ahead and do various things to gain experience and maybe to get some rewards and some money.
You can see they have the yellow quest marker above their head, the exclamation point so you can go and talk. that person and accept or reject that quest, you also have blue quest markers that indicate daily repeatable quests which are quests that can be done once a day or sometimes even just once a week, and those things are repeatable and You can do this over and over again to continue getting the same reward each day, also when you finish a mission, unless you want to turn one into the exclamation point over someone's head it will turn into a question mark and you can get closer to that person, you can right click on them to interact, just press Continue Complete and you will complete that mission and gain experience, as you can see.
I just got 4600 experience on my palette here and now it's showing here. At the bottom, this is where your experience bar will be and you can see that the more experience you get, the higher your level will be, so right now I have 23,000, almost 24,000 experience out of the 144,000 needed for my level and I have 17 total experience so the more experience you gain this bar will increase and when it fills you will go to the next level and for example for me it would go from level 58 to 59 and you can gain experience by making a mob. of things you can, you know, complete quests, do world objectives around the world, like sometimes, for example, you'll see on the right it'll say "world objective" and then you can go and complete that world objective and gain experience or such maybe some other rewards through it or you can just kill enemies so I'm trying to drive here to see if I can find something real quick that's still alive so if I get on this thing this Buster Bark and I really do it I attack and kill him.
I guess we are also going to attack the hellfire pig when I go and kill it, as you can see I just gained 1300 experience so as I kill enemies I will also gain experience. kill this thing really fast boom 1340 experience so you are gaining experience by killing things from quests and world objectives and all of these things contribute to your experience bar to get you closer to leveling up. The next section will cover dungeons and raids in world of warcraft, which is the main pve endgame for the game, dungeon party sizes are five members, where one has a healer, a tank, and three dps, and the Difficulties range from anywhere from Normal, which is the lowest difficulty, Heroic, which is the medium difficulty, and Mythic. what's the hardest difficulty now beyond mythic dungeons, you have something called mythic plus and I'm going to show you an overview of what wow's mythic plus is because I think they have a really good way of explaining it.
Mythic plus dungeons were epic, you are at a higher base vision level than other sources besides raids, so as I explained above, and how the gear section works, mythic dungeons also give better gear than mythic dungeons normal dungeons, heroic or normal dungeons and they are the best way to get high. Your high eye level gear mythic plus dungeons have levels, for example a level three dungeon will be harder than a level two but less difficult than a5, so the higher the mythic plus key, the harder will be and the mythic plus key is an item that you get by doing a mythic dungeon that makes it harder to do, it is a physical item that you actually have to form a party to go to the dungeon, place the key in the dungeon and in reality will make it a mythical advantage now.
Enemies in dungeons will deal more damage and have greater health reserves with each level your party conquers and the higher the dungeon, the more difficult the higher level mythic level will be, plus dungeons will also give greater loot at level the eyes so the higher the dungeon the better loot and at certain levels the dungeon gets what is called a fix which changes the way enemies will act and adds extra complexity to the content so basically it adds other challenges to do the dungeon in addition to just the dungeon based mechanics and each week players will receive a guaranteed piece of loot based on their performance in the previous week's mythic dungeon lock, so basically the higher the The more mythic key you make, the better your piece of random loot gear will be, either from the chest or the vault, depending on what the expansion has.
Next week there are things in World of Warcraft called mythic dungeon locks and dungeons don't have locks but normal mythics do and what that means is you can only do a mythic dungeon once a week but mythic perks They don't have the same type. blocking, only regular mythics do it in terms of raids, they have a similar blocking feature where you can only raid once a week, otherwise you will be blocked from accessing the content so you won't be able to repeat the same raid over and over again. and once again, now talking about raids, raids will be like dungeons on steroids, they are more difficult, require more players, and generally have more mechanics.
Now a raid can have between 10 and 30 people and the raid will automatically adjust based on the number of people in the party, similar to dungeons, there are four ranking difficulties: raid search, which is where you can queue for a raid itself and being automatically matched with people and that's the lowest raid difficulty you can. Do you also have normal difficulty rating heroic and then mythic? One thing to note about the mythic rating is that the party size is locked at 20. So mythic raids won't automatically scale to your party size, it's a fixed difficulty so you need to have a number player fix now talks about queuing for things, you absolutely can use a sign finder or a party finder for dungeons and raids, you can do that for dungeons, you can do random normal dungeons and random heroic dungeons or you can get extra loot or You can also queue for specific dungeons.
You may want to do the same for the raid finder. You can queue for raid difficulty, but for mythic dungeons, mythic dungeons plus for normal raids, heroic and mythic raids, you need to find a group manually. but Blizzard has a premade group in the game so if you go to the dungeons and raids tab and go to premade groups you can go wherever you want so let's say I want to do a raid I would click search group and I could find all the different groups for the current raid or whatever beat I'm looking to do and I can see what raid here or what group is going to fulfill the activity I'm trying to do and try to join that group.
Same for dungeons. Let's say you wanted to make a mythic nine, for example, a level nine mythic dungeon. I could search for a group and scroll down to see a level nine. I would click on it and then click register and if the party leader likes the look of my character and the amount of gear I have, they can accept me into the party and I can join mythics, plus dungeons and raids These are some of the best ways to get gear in the game, so if you're looking to get high-level gear from PVE content, this is the way to do it.
This section will cover setting instance difficulty and instance locking. I actually explained instance locking in the last section, but I'll do it again in this section. It basically means that you can only do certain raids and dungeons once a week, you literally can't re-loot these items more than once a week, so for example when I go to farm transmog items or appearance items in the ice crown citadel, 10 heroic players, I can only do it once a week and I have to wait twice the next week when it resets on Tuesdays before I can do it again, so if you go to your list tab friends, you go to the raid, you will be able to click on raid information and you will be able to see the various locks, you know the different raids and mythic dungeons that you are locked for. that you can be blocked by mythic and mythic dungeons and raids, you cannot be blocked by mythic plus dungeons, so that is something to keep in mind, heroic dungeons, on the other hand, have their daily block, so that is something to keep in mind Keep in mind if you're looking to farm dungeons and raids now, in addition to the locks themselves, we also have manual setting of raid difficulty, so if you want to set the difficulty for an instance you're about to enter, you will right click on your character portrait and scroll. to the dungeon difficulty or the raid difficulty and from there you can set what you want to do, so if you want to do a heroic raid, you can select heroic on the raid difficulty if you want to do a mythic dungeon. select mythic on the dungeon difficulty, so by right clicking on your character portrait and scrolling here you will be able to set the difficulty of your instance for your party's group.
The next section I will cover is player versus player, also known as pvp. in world of warcraft, so world of warcraft has two different types of pvp, it has quick match pvp and ranked pvp and from there you have different types within which you have battlegrounds which are the horde and the alliance, the two different factions who fight among themselves. a specific instance area, so this could be with a certain objective such as capture the flag or as a king of the hill type game mode and the number of people fighting on that battlefield depends on the specific instance with Random epic battlefields, on the other hand. they are more massive large scale fights that have different mechanics and different objectives, you have 40 people on each side so they really feel like an epic battle and then you also have arena skirmishes that are 2 on 2 or 383 deathmatches where the last team is left standing. win and that's your quick match pvp options you just go to the party finder click quick match and you go to your bonus or specific battlegrounds you can choose to queue for that and then you can join you do that too.
I have a ranked pvp. I still haven't been back to wow in a while so my stuff in ranked pvp is really bad, but anyway you have 2v2 and 3v3 arenas where you can fight to gain rank. This is a ranked pvp so there is nothing like quitting. I q to find teammates you need to go to the premade group finder, go to the arena, search for a group and find teammates to play with or if you have someone you know you can queue with them, but once you You know, if you are a group of two or three men, you can queue for the arena, the joint battle button will light upand you will be able to click on it and join the battle and over the course of the ranked season you will be able to get ranked and as you do things weekly you can also get items.
You can also earn a mount each season for being above a certain rating. You can also get all these cool new titles, other mount rewards, special cosmetic stuff, etc. For being highly rated in the arena, this is my favorite type of game, so I really enjoy it. You also have rated battlegrounds which are like these random battleground matches but with a ranking assigned and there are 10 v10 game modes and again if you want to look for a qualified battleground team to fight or an arena team to fight , you can simply go to the premade groups tab and search for a group there.
Another thing to keep in mind about PvP as well is let's say this mostly I feel applied to the horde if you are playing on the horde side and you realize that these times are taking a lot of time what you can do is go to one of the cities known as dalaran and you can go to the sewers and talk to someone to become a mercenary, so by going to the sewers of dalaran and then talking to sergeant wilson you can talk to him and queue for the alliance in a concert on the battlefield on the other hand, although you could also if you wanted to act as the horde if the queues are ever in balance and when you change sides you get a proportion corresponding to your race, so it will be replaced by something else, but this is just a quick overview of pvp in world of warcraft and the different modes that are available.
In the next section of the guide we are going to review the professions in World of Warcraft. There are now 11 primary and three secondary professions. In World of Warcraft you can only have two main professions at any given time, but you can have all secondary professions at once and these are per character. Now the different professions in Wow will be displayed on the screen right now. You have some gathering professions and some crafting professions. Herbalism involves collecting herbs from around the world. Mining is extracting raw minerals, stones and gems from veins and deposits. Skinning is skinning the corpses of certain creatures to obtain their skins.
Leather or scales. Alchemy has to do with creation. of potions, elixirs, flasks, oils and more, blacksmithing involves the creation of weapons, male and plate armor, enchanting is obviously about creating enchantments for equipment in engineering, it is about creating a wide range of mechanical tips, from trinkets, guns, glasses, explosives and mechanical pets, as well as some interesting useful things that you can use for your character, you have an inscription that allows you to create glyphs by playing cards and you also learned the ability to do some other things. I'll also go over some Shadowland-specific stuff in a moment. jewelry that allows you to create gems leatherwork that allows you to create armor kits and leather capes and male armor and then crafting finally is for cloth armor bags um and things of that nature now an interesting thing about going to the lands of shadows is that some of these professions, the crafting ones specifically, will be necessary to create some of these starting items for the legendaries, at least it was said, um, that was talked about a little before the expansion came out, I hope that it continues to be so when it comes out, um, but crafting professions are important for creating those items in the shadowlands, but otherwise, they're really, really good for creating items.
Now I know that people will ask me what profession I should choose as a new player. The recommendation for you is to go for two of the gathering professions, either mining and herbalism or some combination of mining, herbalism, and skinning. I just think it's a lot easier for a new player that you're looking for in your adventures, you know you see some herbs. you see an ore vein, you mine it, you collect the herbs, it just lets you collect resources while you play, you sell those resources at the auction house and earn some extra money, that's still what I prefer to do while I'm at it.
You know, about doing my world quest and making things, I prefer to have mining and herbalism so I can learn things as I go, but if you want to delve a little deeper into the crafting side, feel free. choose a crafting profession and if you want to make it easier you could also choose a corresponding gathering profession, for example for alchemy, learn herbalism for blacksmithing, learn mining for leatherworking, learn skinning etc could be a Easy way. do things and you know, I could go into the details of how to make more money with some of the gathering professions, but I think that's a little bit higher level for this guide, so I just wanted to move on.
The service level talks about what all the professions are and which ones I think are best for a new player, but I would definitely recommend knowing that when you find a pro trainer you can use the little magnifying glass on the minimap to find something that will help you. these professions as soon as you can so you can start leveling up from the beginning of the game. In the next section, I will cover pet battles. Now pet battles are a pretty solid system, so I'm not going to go over everything about the system, but I will go over it just on a basic level.
The first thing you should know about pets. The pet system is that it works just like pets do in any other game if you want to summon a pet. you just click on the pet, click summon and you'll be able to summon it and it'll be able to walk with you, but if you choose that you want to engage in pet battles, it's almost like a Pokémon type system in a sense. You can assign three battle pets to your battle pet slots and you can challenge other players to pet duels or simply battle other wild pets in the world again, kind of like what you'd expect from a Pokémon type game: pets have their own types. with various passives and have things they are strong against and things they are weak against they have their own abilities that have strengths and weaknesses they have their own power speed and rarity they have hp pools they have levels if your pet dies it needs to be healed and revived , so this is a pretty solid system that you can go really deep with, but one thing I like about the pet system is that a lot of the pets, most in general, can be obtained internally. game activity, so whether you're achieving achievements or just looting things, you can get pets from a variety of sources, making it possible for people who love collecting pets like you to go really crazy and in-depth with the system.
There are many different options. Write a lot of cool pets to collect and if you choose that you want them to fight you can absolutely do that or if you just want them to follow you and look cool you can also do that in the next part of the type I want to cover is the auction house so The best thing about World of Warcraft is that it has a central auction house and Blizzard has made many improvements to their auction house over time and I used to run some addons for my auction house. but nowadays I personally don't even feel like I need them because the game's base auction house does so many things that you can basically buy anything you want, weapons, armor, bags, gems, enchantments, consumables, etc., but I think That strength in wow auction house comes from the new selling interface, so basically let's say I want to sell these 10 Tide Spray canvases that I have.
I just right click and place them to sell quantity 10 and you see the various unit prices that people have listed at and it has me listed with the lowest item price, so I can easily come here, right click on all my items and very very quickly list them all for sale without having to interact with them at all as it automatically goes in at the lowest price. make it really easy to sell my items as quickly as possible, so the system is very very simple, central auction house in the game, you can just come here in any of the faction capitals, buy what you need, get what whatever you want, when you buy something. it will be delivered to your mailbox so you can come to the mail, open this and you will have your items in the mail or if you just need to come here you can come here and list the things for sale and then they will automatically ship. listed at the lowest item price available, the next section I want to cover is mounts in world of warcraft.
In wow you have an absolute ton of mounts available at your disposal, some can be purchased from the micro transaction style store but for the most part most. of amounts are obtained in-game through a variety of sources pvp pve achievements uh rep grinds are different things for your class for your faction for your race there are so many different amounts you can collect in World of Warcraft so going to the collections and going to frames, you can see the wide variety of frames you can buy. You can get your first mount at level 20. You can get faster amounts at level 40.
Flying mounts at level 60 and later. from there you will be able to increase the speed of your flying mounts at level 70 and level 80. And you will need certain mount permissions and will like to learn certain amounts in order to use the mounts at your disposal. You can see there are flying mounts and there are also ground mounts that are specific to riding on the ground, but flying mounts can be used in certain areas, um, if you come here with a flight master, the flying trainer, um. you can see this person in a bunch of different cities, you can learn as an apprentice journeyman, expert, craftsman and writing master, the writing apprentice is like I said, base mount, trining, journeyman writing increases that speed by an amount Significantly, expert writing is your initial flying speed and then crafting and master driving will increase it even more and make your numbers even faster for a price of gold and as I said this is based on the level of your character if you want to fly in certain places.
In some of the later expansions you will need to complete the Pathfinder achievements, so let's say you want to fly in the Legion areas, just Google the Legion Pathfinder achievement and you can see what the requirements are for flying in those areas, but in a base that you can fly around in some of the older expansion zones as well as the base game zones with your flying mounts, but like I said, some of the newer expansions will require that achievement to be able to fly, but like I said Level 20 is when you get that first mount and you won't have to walk everywhere all the time.
One last point about mounts is that certain classes actually learn mount skills in their leveling process classes, such as paladins, death knights, and warlocks. They get several mounts from their class kit, demon hunters do too. they get a specific amount just for being a demon hunter and druids even learn the ways of flying so they can shapeshift into an animal of their choice that can now fly, as we all know is the trend. At the end of the game and in World of Warcraft, your various clothing styles can be obtained by looting items around the world in different raids, dungeons, pvp, etc., you can know that every time you obtain an item, you learn its style and can transfigure it. that style on any piece of equipment that you want by going to a transmog, so if you go here and go, I want to transmog my equipment, you can take any equipment that you've earned for those items, uh, type of armor on that piece of armor, like this which, for example, my crown of the deep looks like my merciless satin gladiator hood, which is a piece of pvp gear from a long, long time ago.
I think this is the second season so it's very very old but I can make my equipment look like this old equipment I really enjoy the look of it with my weapons my weapons actually look like the artifact weapon from the legion even though I only have a corrupt gladiator deck so every time you pick up a piece of gear you learn the appearance of that gear and can use that gear appearance on any item of the same weight so for example I can't use this hood appearance on a plate armor helmet, I can only use it on a piece of cloth. armor, the same with mail and leather, you can only translate leather into leather, mail to mail, plate to plate, etc. when it comes to weapons, it's pretty much the same, you can only turn maces into tables, you can't turn them into daggers, um.
You can only turn staves into stabs, pull arms to pull arms, but like I said, any appearance you learn, you can transfigure into something else, it just costs a small gold fee if you want to change what it looks like.Really cool is that you can also set up transmog sets if you want, so whenever I make a set that I like, I'll just hit save and I'll be able to save it so I can mix it up quickly. between my different options and making my character look how I want it to look, since World of Warcraft is such a big game, there are obviously a ton of websites that have to deal with World of Warcraft and give you tons of information and people about them, so I just want to highlight here some common resources from the community website that I really recommend to all new favorite players.
I plan to have my own information on my own website dotsgaming.com, which you can find linked in the description below, where I will In the future I will have some written versions of some of the shorter Wow beginner's guides that I make. I will also have shadow priest guides, pvp guides and a lot of good stuff in the future, so if you just want to check out my website and bookmark it for the future when that stuff is released, feel free to check it out, but in terms of other websites that I use personally, I think here at the top I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven websites that I personally use a ton and my first one was wow head wowhead has something about World of Warcraft.
You might want to know if it's Wow Retail or Wow Classic. It's like your encyclopedia for all things World of Warcraft, so this is a website I would use. i definitely recommend bookmarking it if you play wow another really good website is icy veins icy veins has pretty much a guide and a build for every class and every role in the game pvp pve whatever you're looking for it has raid guides profession guides it has guides for basically anything you could want for a lot of Blizzard games and obviously I'm using it for World of Warcraft, so it's another website you'll definitely want to check out for really good, up-to-date information. website to bookmark when you start getting or if you start getting into an end game like pve pvp etc, if you want to see if your gear is an upgrade or not, if you have a piece that is questionable and you are not sure of whether raid bots are basically what raid bots can do: they are able to simulate your character and you can say that you compare a piece of equipment on your character with another piece of equipment and it will tell you. a gap situation whether that piece of gear is an upgrade or not, I really recommend it, it has other great features too, but that's mainly what I use it for.
My next favorite website is raider dot io. raider io will be your gold standard website. to look at people's Mytic Plus scores, this is used by a lot of people to find out if someone is really worth being included in a Mytic Plus or not, what their biggest achievements are for Mytic Plus, it's just what their overall experience is . You'll see the Raider i o score and a lot of things are mentioned, especially when it comes to endgame pve content, so this is definitely something you'll want to know about my next favorite website that I use a lot for pvp: I use check pvp.fr. and basically what this does is it allows you to search for character names and people's kingdoms so you can search for someone, see their pvp experience, their achievements, what their recent ratings are and it just allows you to see the pvp rating of people before playing. with them to see if this is so, you know if they are lying about their rating or something in the group finder, you can just search for their information here.
The next website you want to use for Endgame Pve is Warcraft. Warcraft records this. it allows you to search for, uh, how do you know that people are currently doing in their classes at specific grades, so if you're curious, like, I'm wondering what the best dps is right now, what are people doing, how do you know and just check out the various Damage meters and such for anything to do with any Pve Warcraft vlog will have you covered and then the final website I recommend is thelootdistrict.com. It has tons of information on player vs. player talks about the different class breakdowns and representations. for the different classes it shows you the most chosen honor talents, anything you want to know, regular talents, races, factions, role plays, etc. for related battlefields and for arena, so if you're entering arena and you're thinking, I wonder what other people who use loot district will be able to show you the most common combinations of things used in wow pvp so you can compare them to yours own specifications to see if maybe there is something you can change or not to improve your own game.
There are two types of parties in World of Warcraft: you have the party and you have the raid, a party can have up to five members with one person as the leader and during the party there are no restrictions, they can also communicate with each other. through group chat and you can still do quests, run dungeons, do whatever you want, but once you have more than five people, up to 30, you enter what is called a raid group and during a raid group they are imposed some different restrictions. in your party that are not in a normal party and certain types of quests cannot be completed in a raid party.
I just wanted to mention this here in its own section because I didn't want you as a new player to maybe join a group. raid group maybe you're doing lfr or something or you're just trying to join a large group that's trying to kill something, just keep in mind that during those group sizes certain quests can't be completed and others can, so keep them. Note that when joining groups while playing World of Warcraft, another thing to keep in mind is that when queuing as a group, you can only queue as five in a five-person party for random battlegrounds, so like If you have content, you can't queue these things like a raid group, you have to be in a group.
However, you can queue for ranked pvp as a group of 10 people, but obviously when it comes to queuing for a quick match or when it comes to queuing for a dungeon, you can, you have to be in a group, not in a raid group, the next thing I want to talk about is fast travel in World of Warcraft and there are two main types of fast travel: your Hearthstone and your flight paths. Guess three too if you technically consider your flight master's whistle, but that's closely related to flight paths now that you have your hearthstone in World of Warcraft, basically what that means is that you can return to a location of your choosing. it has a 30 minute cooldown if you're not a guild, any 15 minute cooldown if you're in one, so basically if you see this person, the innkeeper, when I mouse over them, the icon appears Hearthstone when I talk to this person. the option to do this in my house which sets my hearthstone here, so every time I use this hearthstone and channel it completely, it will allow me to return to this inn, so setting your hearthstone to a Popular city that visits a lot or a starting location that you find yourself in very frequently is really good for allowing you to travel there extremely quickly.
Now the other type of fast travel is flight paths. Now the flight paths are similar to fast travel in other games where you learn the flight paths. As you discover them, let's say this flight path here in Orgrimmar was undiscovered, Doros would have a green exclamation point above his head and by talking to him and interacting with him, you could learn this flight path now by clicking the flight. route, you can travel to other flight routes that you've learned, so you can catch, you know, fly to these different places, but keep in mind that it doesn't happen instantly, you actually go through the travel process now in addition to the flight.
Paths and Hearthstone is you, I don't know, excuse me, you also have your flight master's whistle, which is something that can only be used in certain areas and this allows you to request a pick-up from the nearest flight master and it will be specific. for some zone expansion, so keep that in mind when using them, they are all. There are also these things for horde cities called zeppelins that allow you to travel from one place to another and if you go to the zeppelin master he will tell you. exactly where it will take you, so for example, this one will take me to Stranglethorn Okay, also in the variety in the different capital cities of um, you will also have portals that can take you to other places, so if you want, you can come. here use those portals and you can travel to a variety of different places, so those are all the different methods of fast travel in World of Warcraft and how they can move you around the map.
Crowd control and diminishing returns work a little differently in the world. of warcraft than in other games and I just want to touch on them a little bit in this section so that you guys have a basic understanding of how entering world of warcraft works, for those of you who don't know what cc means cc means crowd control and basically it Which is crowd control is anything that makes you lose control or function of your character. There are multiple different classifications of crowd control, some simply prevent you from moving, some slow you down, and some prevent you completely. from performing any action completely now, the way these crowd control things can be removed from your character is through certain abilities like for example as a abandoned character I have the will of the helpless which removes any enchantment, dream type fear and crowd control of my character. and we will share a 30 second cooldown with any other similar type abilities.
There's also the gladiator medallion which in BFA is a buff you can get from your talent tree that removes any detrimental effects or too much control from your character in two minutes. cooldown for example, which would share a small cooldown with the derelicts for the 30 seconds that were mentioned and then go into shadow lanes, which will actually be an item that you need to equip to your character and that you can link to your uh bars to delete. your character's crowd control, but you have to be very selective with the crowd control you removed because, as you can see, this has a two-minute cooldown.
Now you might be wondering, points, if I remove a crowd control piece from my character, what is happening? What will happen if I go back to controlling the crowd, how is that going to work? and that's going to work outside of the diminishing returns system so all the different cc's in world of warcraft, like I said before, have different rankings and if you want to find a list of rankings just google wow diminishing returns or something and you'll be able to see all different rankings, but the way it works is that any cc that shares the same ranking will have diminishing returns, so for example I have an ability called psychic scream that will fear my enemies for five seconds or excuse me, that will fit and will disorient my enemies for eight seconds.
Now, if another character decides to disorient them right after I disorient them, he will cut himself in half to disorient them. his misorientation will be laughed at half the time, if someone does a third misorientation then it will be cut in half again as a quarter is long and then if you try to do it a fourth time the person will be immune until the duration of diminishing return expires and then at that point the person may be disoriented once again, so in certain types of combat, especially in pvp arena, it's really good to chain together crowd controls with different ratings to make sure you maximize kill time. mass control. your opponent, so for example I have this eight second psychic scream followed by a four second fear followed by a four second stun and none of these share the same cc rating so they would all get their full duration.
Just wanted to give a quick overview. of what the system was simply that when you saw the terms that were mentioned and you wouldn't be confused looking at that conversation. Next I want to discuss faction capitals, as well as death experience and mail. This is like the miscellaneous section of things I couldn't think of. where to place them anywhere else so that the different factions, horde and alliance, have their own capital cities, each of them at the time of recording this has five for the alliance, you have boralus darnassus exodar iron forge in Stormwind City for the horde, you have orgrimmar silver Moon City Thunderbluff Undercity and Desar Allure, I think I pronounced it correctly, so the capitals of the main factions, although within these cities are Stormwind City for the alliance, which is the human capital, and Orgrimmar, for the horde, which is the capital of the orc trolls, those are your main two. capital cities or the various factions, you also have capitals that are not related to the factions, like the two versions of dalaran, uh powerful depending on the expansion, as well as the city of shattrath with the burning crusade, but these are the other faction capitals that are the main ones that you're going to deal with and then usually, each expansion has its own capital city, so Shadowlands will have its own main capital that you will reference and then move on to other expansions, usually new ones will add it.
They can be added sometimes they are not faction specific, other times they are faction specific. Now something else to note in terms of restful experience is that if you take a look at my character's unit frame, you'll notice that above my level I have what looks like a sleeping, chat bubble with all the z's, basically what that means is my character is rested, it means I'm in a basically safe place, so if I'm going to log out of a rest area, it's going to log me out instantly or it's going to make me log out instantly.
The game, if I try to log out or exit the game in an unrested area, there will be a 20 second timer before I log out. Something else to keep in mind, you should also be aware of is that if you log out. in a rest area you will make it so that when your character logs back in you get rest experience which means you will get 200 experience from specific sources for a certain amount of experience because you logged out in a rest area so it is really good. Make sure you always log out of an inn, town or something to make sure you get that experience boost, especially while leveling up.
The next thing you need to cover is the email that can be sent to a variety you know of other players. your faction um but only on your server you can't send mail between servers through this cross you can only send it to people from your faction on your server um normally also when you buy things from the auction house, they will come here like Okay, so what you could do is just send mail and you can send mail to lots of other places where you can send things that are account-wide through the mail system across the different servers, so for example you could See my list of alternatives here, so if I have something that is account-wide, for example my honor marks, I could still send them across multiple servers in general, although things are mostly server-specific, but the elements that note that they are account bound, they can only be sent, they can be sent to your entire account, they are not server specific, you can also instantly send things to your guild and one of the guild perks allows you to do that and also send it by mail. goes to your own character is an instance of who and I like to say an alt on your account or something that tends to be instantaneous but being mailed to other players will take some time.
The next thing I want to talk about real quick before we talk about death is The binding system for items in World of Warcraft, there are a couple different types that you have bound on pick up, bound on equip and you have a soul bound bond on equip, meaning the item is not tied to your character until you equip it once you equip it. object, remains linked to the soul, is completely linked to that character. bind on pick up means that once you loot the item, it is bound, it becomes soulbound to your character, but when you loot an item from a dungeon, most of the items in the dungeon tend to be bound on pick up, you can know for a two hour period to trade that item with another member of that dungeon party and then but if after that two hour period passes the item is no longer marketable or if you know modify the item in some way. will not be interchangeable, the final option is soulbound, which you can see here on my black empire sword. soulbound means it is completely bound to this character, it cannot be sent to anything else in my account, it cannot be sent anywhere it is completely bound to this character, we also have the similar example of marks of honor, they are bound to account, meaning I can't send it to someone else's account, but I can send it to any alt in my account below.
What I want to show you is what death looks like, so let's take a I think I'm going to land in the water. No way it's good, we hit the bridge, so when you die, I can't, man, if I landed. the water which would have been really funny when you die, you can basically have your spirit go into like the spirit realm, so to speak, and you have two options on how you want to be resurrected, or you can come talk to the spiritual healer. to them and you can be resurrected in the graveyard, so keep in mind what this says.
If you find your corpse, you can resurrect without penalty. If I resurrect you, all your items will take up to 25 equipped and inventory durability damage and you will be inflicted with resurrection sickness for 10 minutes, greatly reducing your combat effectiveness for 10 minutes, so basically, if you don't want to deal with that handicap, you just go, find your corpse, stand next to it, click resurrect every now and then, and come back to life. and your corpse just turns into a skeleton, but that'll be like the rest of the miscellaneous stuff I've covered and I think at that point I've got it all done, so guys, that'll be it for my total beginner in World of Warcraft . guide I only made a guide like this for another game when I played Elder Scrolls online.
I made this guide for that game and it was always one of the most important tasks I did, but it was one of my favorite videos. simply because I understand how difficult it can be for a new player to get into an mmo. Games have so many systems, so many things bombarding you at once and it can seem like it's very difficult to understand it all and how to approach it all. and what to approach and how to approach it, you know, when you get a little information overload, so my goal with these guides that I make for the MMOS that I play at any given time is that I want this to help new players access their MMOS with as few headaches as possible so they can really enjoy the game and understand the various systems.
I understand this guide was long, but like I said in the introduction, you know I wanted this to be like an encyclopedia where if I wasn't sure about something and I wanted to learn about it, I could quickly jump to this guide, click on the time, referencing the section and understanding what he was talking about, but I had a great time doing this. I'm really happy to be able to do it for one of my long time favorite mmorpgs in World of Warcraft and I really hope that you guys enjoyed this and learned a lot from it and really feel equipped to handle your adventures in Azeroth and I really want to. thank you all if you attended the final comments, I really appreciate you watching the video and I hope you enjoyed it, if you liked it, of course, give it a like, share it with all the friends you have and who are receiving in world of warcraft and you know, I hope this can help you guys get started like it helped you.
