World Challenge Evo Racecar Gone Wild! 680hp, Widebody, and Track Ready

Jun 03, 2021
Well, back to this with another build biology, this time one of the cleanest Evos I've ever seen. Beautiful car, he is local. Robbie, what's up? Man, what's up? Dan, how are you? CSF coolers, you brought us this beautiful one, you know, we've got it

ready

. for SEMA last year and now it's coming into race car form and we're happy to have it here at Hoonigan's garage, so this is what the show car was at SEMA, now it's going to be fun to have a race car, if we are

ready

. ready to tear it up so he's already talking to me about beating this thing up he just wants to get into it and just set up a

track

yeah so this is an evo 10 that started out as a Pirelli World Challenge car that crashed . it was a roller all the parts were off the car when we wanted to build something to be a race car obviously this guy looked apart and was aggressive on the outside originally it was supposed to be a bolt on body kit the wide fenders and the whole thing, but you know, my styles are a little cleaner.

I really wanted it to look like it could have been spread out like a factory floor like this, so we did everything molded, it's a Street Fighter LA body kit and it's being completely molded. This was the first of the kits now on sale, but we had the first one on the car and debuted. My last year is beautiful and then obviously the carbon hood that is your market and the exhaust peeking through it, you can see the CP build. We'll talk about that later when we can see it and then the front bumper is the same thing yeah so it's the complete Street Fighter LA kit that comes with the diffusers, the front lip and the side skirts we just want to do that.

More Interesting Facts About,

world challenge evo racecar gone wild 680hp widebody and track ready...

It looks very clean, we just made a quick release front bumper because it won't fit on the trailer without the bumper on so now it's very easy to put on and take off, these are great, what are the wheels we have here doing? so we have three piece Ford LSR wheels rotated, they are not necessarily known for being motorsports wheels. I told them I wanted to do something in motorsports, right, it's going to be a race car, so they gave me the super super light forged wheels and They're wrapped in Toyo, they're triple A, they're racing tires and the mirrors, yeah, There are some parts we got from Japanese companies, so there are only two parts, the rest is a US made car, we got the Kraft square one in June, carbon fiber mirrors. and then if you come to the back, we also have these bulletproof car tail lights that we cared about.

Those are the various rear lights. The LED taillights give a touch of new age. Yes, on the back we have this competition carbon fiber. a PR week so yeah they make such good stuff we've had so many run ins with APR and we've had so many quality builds here running this beautiful all carbon wing now to wrap around the hood and trunk they are both carbon . fiber components and furniture, so it's a bit pushed around. I mean, it's a pretty wide body for this one, this is a Lexan, yeah, Lexan windows, the ones we got from the accident, probably the

world

challenge

car, they've been carried over to full race car stuff and this no windows on this moment.

I didn't foresee it. We wanted to be able to give people access to see all the weapons inside. Yeah, people really like to come in and see everything that's going on. Well, speaking of, let's do it. look at the interior like this, that's for sure, that's how you get out of the car, but you know, all the doors are worse, you know, let's start at the back because I think that's cool, since you can see all the panels inside of the car are all sheet aluminum rolled with super intricate beads. It was very difficult for him to place these panels because the cage was already on the car.
Yeah this is the crash cage probably the

world

challenge

roller that we bought so it's a 25 point cage because why would you change that exactly and that was one of the main reasons we bought the TIG welded car ? It's lovely. I already have the inspection points. Looks great. I love all these things, yes, and that is carbon hiding. fiber fuel bladder and that's right underneath oh really that's what you'll see when we look at the car and we see we have tanks here for the dry sump which is on the Peterson dry sump and the breather can say look how it's integrated in the cage too, it's so cute, the board is so cool it's aluminum too, yes everything is aluminum, all made by Gabe there in the AFC speed metal trans tunnel.
Awesome, I can say that because we've had them here, but that's the right wire, definitely, Ryan, the right wire personally. did all the fuel and electrical plumbing, that's an HP electronic keypad, that's pretty much the brain of the entire vehicle, there are no other buttons in this whole car, that's how you start it, that's how you set the pumps, that's how How do you place the left and right? the flashing lights, that's it, the ignition, so all the lights flash and down there on the passenger wheel, that's where you have the HP electronic brain along with the Cybex ECU system if.
He is so nice that I can tell how clean everything he does is. I nailed it on this whole build because it looks amazing, everything inside is so nice, so clean, like it's not the typical race car setup where you have everywhere, there's just wires and things hanging everywhere and flanges, and without this, everything is so hidden that it is so clean. Yeah, and then that's a tilt pedal box mm-hmm, so another high-end component that we took from the Pirelli World Challenge car well, let's get to it, let's get this hood off for good, which is really good because we had the idea of than a race car, everything is quick release, so if you just press that button you'll see how slick they are, it's so good, it looks so good.
The guy who convinced me to buy this car when I told him about the deal was my good friend Alex from CP Bill. and he's the one who made the whole turbo kit with the titanium hood scoop. We had Garrett come aboard. They gave us one of their new 3582 reverse rotation turbos. He came up with everything. I didn't tell him what he wanted. I just left the car and said, Alex, do me something dumber than anyone in the world, yeah, you know, and this is what he came up with. He's also one of those guys that I trust to do and that you like take your creativity and just do this just do something you know we did that with everyone in this build mhm you know everyone puts their own mark on the valves turbo smart wastegates wastegates wastegates eighty millimeter cable drive throttle body it's so nice it all fits together so beautifully and it's all locked in all the clamps are the stainless steel hydraulic flow clamps so they're range clamps super high, you know, and then as some subtle touches, all the bolts were done by my good friend Frank at Down Star, so we did the contrasting black on the white and the red bolts on the black added some titanium pieces so that flow along serious urethane mats, man this manifold is just cheap, bill, man it's fine, it works, everything is milspec, nice bulkhead, you know, a lot of people think this is anodized. actually powder coated, well, red anodized color and I think it looks great.
You know, a lot of guys were doing like billet valve covers and brilliant stops. You know, just give me something that's clean. Yeah, what we're doing with me is more like a factory spec mm-hmm kind of thing, but it's very clean looking. I really like it. Is incredible. Can we remove the bumper? Yes, absolutely fine, let's get this started. Yeah, so I just have to press that button. I think that's why my gauge was stolen. I'm sitting here, this one is good, yeah, you're good. Wow hello they have an air cooler that intercooler was made by shiki and built using one of the CSF bottom plate vertical flow cores so it's a four and a half inch thick or it's definitely going to be good for about a thousand horsepower that we needed for this car, we're trying to have about 700, yes, 680 700, it has our intercooler core that has been welded together by a rear end built in the shape of a sheep that is oversized.
The foldable radiator that I actually make exclusively for Ryan is three wire mm-hmm, so it has two fan settings on the back, small fans, you know, built-in shrouds, yeah, it's really cool, actually, that's rolled into it it has a fit and 16 so it's a double pass so everything is on this side which is really nice about the radiator you buy one you can flip it over and it's completely universal so you can actually on this side, you can have the accessories on that side, that's really nice. so this is one of our new oil coolers that we are about to launch.
It's a bar and plate oil cooler so I can accept rock chips. You know it's super durable. Whoa, hit it! You know nothing is going to break. again, a double pass right there on the dry sump system battery up front, yeah, very light, listen on the Braille battery, so we glazed over, but what's the power level that you have now? We just put this on the dyno and it was around 550 when the clutch started slipping mm-hmm we're thinking it's going to be good between 680 and 720 and you'll take that as the

track

and just get over it definitely uh we're really excited about the naval industry events, the half-mile races, you know?
Look, we can reach a range of 180 miles per hour. Oh wow, we'd like to take you there. You know he's got the cage, so it's nice to go that fast. Are you good at going that fast. I hope so. Put my oldest son. pants, he drives directly, you know, and then we want to post it in global Time Attack events. I'm not going to pretend that I'm the best driver, so we could put in a professional or one of our friends who is a very good driver. I get in the car and see what kind of lap time we can do and then you, Javis, yeah, I definitely want to be able to take off like at HPD events, you know, driving myself, I enjoy what we build.
I can't wait to see it on the track, but I also know Sue is going under, we're going to have to put this on the lift, definitely, let's go out, let's do it, we're spending a lot of time here, yeah, after being under the car for a while let's start with the Magnus Motorsports dry sump kit, I mean it's a great piece of machinery for this car and this kit is only designed to work with a tubular subframe which we don't have so we had to get different pulleys API super buffer, that's all. Obviously, the HS 79 hose came off a little bit again, which is kind of the signature cable and hose that the oil pan uses and you know some of the parts that came with the car were all the subframes from AKA Motorsports of Europe in the front back part. everything so these are all aftermarket parts what did you sit on chromoly money chromoly yeah everything you know you got rally arms here yeah so it was really nice to have those components with the car when we started, I mean, that's quite a lot. a little bit of work, they have quite a bit of manufacturing that would have been done well. coilovers le oh we have jrz two way coils right now so you know you can see the rear of the stop tech trophy brake The setup here greatly needs that stopping power yeah hopefully at the end of the sector round of changes, we'll be able to break, yeah, this is interesting to me, this, yeah, this is, you know, these are one of those components if a guy is trying to build this car.
I didn't even buy it, yeah, it's a full custom molded carbon fiber fuel bladder, it came with the car, you know, this is like a $10,000 piece in itself, so just having this along with the purchase, this came with the car, it came with the car, yes it was. a little damaged so we had to do some repairs to it but we cleaned it all up it was ready and yes we can use it now. I don't think I've ever seen that, to be honest, it was my It's the first time I've seen the spinning wheel, yeah, I haven't seen it before.
Plus, it's cool if you look back. This is a bomb, it's called an AYC bomb. You know, we haven't all been Mitsubishi or Evo guys, but that's it. a pump that actually runs the all-wheel drive system and sends power back and forth, you know, then Ryan worked on it so he could send the pulse all the way to the front and make everything work with the electronics, it's amazing and this again . really cool subframe back here, oh chromoly, I like these hooks they added here too, actually, built like sheep, they welded them up for us when I had the car as a trailer, yeah, just so we could get into the trailer, and that was pleasant.
I might steal this idea thanks ep, let's steal that idea for sure, along with the fuel setup, it has all the Bosch Motorsports connectors, okay, this subframe inYes it is a lot of work. I like how they did the differential and everything else. dal run, a beautiful car, we put out a Take off the wheel, yeah sure, let's do it big, break this, but yeah, it's a huge Cobra for capsule stop technology for the trophy trophy brick kit with its rotor Aero, once they warm up, will blow your brain out of your face. I'm pretty sure, yeah, that's crazy.
I have no idea what size it is, but it looks bigger than any of us live in all the refrigerators. It's really great. You've done a really good job putting this together. This is a truly amazing car. Know? Look at this oil cooler, we've actually invented this new bar and plate design, so if you see a bar like this on the intercooler, it's a square mm-hmm and what I did when we came up with this is we made a notch. So it's lighter but stronger, yes you get better airflow through the core so this is something we just created and we think it's a big improvement over conventional style plate and bar coolers , that's amazing, friend.
Really dig this intercooler, it's like I can't get over how big it is and then the end plates up here are really nice and it's hard to even see the radiator, but I love the shroud that's integrated into it. I think it's such a cool thing that it's also overlooked that people forget to cover their cars and that's like a huge problem that a lot of people have, you're not cool in your car, you don't have a cover, yeah, it directs the air. , people always complain like, oh, I put this radiator in and for some reason it doesn't work and there are so many components that it's like a harmonious balance with the cooling, you have to have good ducting, you also have to have good inlet and outlet flow, so so the air has to get in, but it also has to have somewhere to go, so when guys put a radiator right up against your engine block and the fans are right behind it and they wonder why it's not cooling.
I tell them, hey, you have to move it up a little bit or you have to put some vents on the hood, so you always want to make sure it's you. Do you know how many refrigerators you are stacking in front of each other? You know, I've seen guys with a radiator, an A/C condenser intercooler, an oil cooler, yeah, I wonder why their car overheats because, my time, the air comes out of the radiator, it's hot and you know which is just an airflow that doesn't even pass at that time also you have to make sure you have a really good fan mm-hmm you have to have really good CFM fans at work we only use small fans for all of our kits or all of our radiators which we sell fans with, so yes, there are a lot of different things required when it comes to proper car cooling, especially in a race car.
Yes, you know it's my business. We kind of have a joke: cooling isn't important until you realize you need it, yeah, and then for everyone, it's almost like an afterthought to these guys because they designed their entire engine, they built their entire car, but they didn't take take into account proper cooling, so yeah, it's very important, especially you know. In hot weather places, you try to race your car at Bun Willow or a California track in the middle of summer in the Middle East or somewhere like a drag race, if you don't have proper cooling you won't be on the track. very long track yeah and that's the reason we built this car you know we're going to race it and we want to be able to show people that this is racing in that heat or if you know lap after lap and now you're stuck in Southern California where everything is hot, now every track is just desert and the last time I was at Horsethief I think it was 116 degrees so yeah it's a big deal and the car is great you guys killed it. through everyone involved, we have to get you out of here because I know you have things to do, you are building, he is building another car for SEMA along with some other friends who are building more cars for SEMA that we are going to see them later, We'll probably have to invite them back because they'll be even cooler than this, although this is awesome, they're going to another stage of progression now, so we'll let them get back to that. thanks for bringing the car, it's nice to see you Dan, I really appreciate it, thanks for having us man, and you have good friends, okay, I know all your friends had a lot of their friends on this show and each of these versions has been really impressive
