World's Largest RC Paper Airplane?!

Nov 22, 2021
In today's video, we are going to try to break the

world

record for the

largest

remote controlled

paper

airplane

in the

world

. We have a fun little project today, a fun big project, he actually does it freely, so last time guys remember we made these awesome

paper

airplane

s. which was not only a really cool RC but honestly I think I had as much fun if not more just throwing this thing around like a glider is one of those things honestly you guys can do it at home with your kids and it's amazing affordable and incredibly easy. do and they're durable yeah they fly really well too so today what we're going to do is take this concept and as you know we love to do this we're going to expand on it yeah big but not just big, we're going to break the world record or at least what we think is the world record.
world s largest rc paper airplane
This guy, an amazing guy on YouTube. We'll put a link to his video below. It's quite old. I think he's about five or six years old. now but it made the world record for

largest

rc paper plane to irplane yeah not just a paper plane but a rc paper plane and today we're going to break so searching the internet we found this crazy monstrosity is way bigger than which we're going to build but it was actually a free flying paper plane that we would like 800lbs if they had to tow with a helicopter and they like to see it.

More Interesting Facts About,

world s largest rc paper airplane...

I don't think it actually flew, they just showed it as some sort of flight. Huge paper airplane projects on YouTube both RC and free flying so jumping off of Josh talking here we're talking twelve and a half twelve feet long and about six foot wingspan so it's absolutely not the biggest thing we've ever built before but I think its air presence is really cool and the cool thing is also that we want it to have the same characteristics as what we fly yeah in the first episode where it just has that natural plane like this that instead of making monster engines. we're going to go with our traditional C-packs and try to make this thing super light, super buoyant and hopefully look like it knows we're like 6 inches tall if you know how to make a paper airplane you can literally draw the lines to make one of these yourself and Josh what you did was make it gigantic and because our foam sheets are so big we basically put it on top of a bunch of sheets we just take them out of here and we'll tape and hot glue them together . it's going to be forming our fuselage.

This foam is so thick that we can't just cut a bevel and squash it because it's so strong, so what we have is a double thickness of foam and this will fold over the nose here. make another channel and then this will be the top hole make this part here so it will lay down nice and clean like real paper looks amazing and i think my favorite part of this project is literally people saying how you built this giant paper but li folds flat just like a regular paper airplane the only difference is this is on paper this is a glitch on the back of the paper so there's foam in the middle so you're piping this so that it bends like paper but the nice thing about the foam core board is it's going to add a certain level of rigidity which is really important for airframes especially when it's going to be so heavy well the paper plane is so small and lightweight which doesn't need to be completely stiff it has enough stiffness like regular paper to make it fly how much pressure against it but look at that oh that's amazing just like the whole paper segment of course I still don't want that hit me yeah i think just like the other thing we should probably try to let at least test fly this before we can suck it all right so before we try to break this world record i wanted to take the time to tell you guys about our sponsor for this episode and that's our friends at nord vpn now if you guys are not familiar with nord vpn nord vpn is a virtual private network that allows you to surf the internet safely without having to worry about your data being hacked. you can unblock Netflix and your favorite entertainment websites no matter where you go, it has a 30-day money back guarantee and protects your data on the go, making it one of the best things that protects data while traveling in public and on the go, so whether you're at an airport or a coffee shop using public Wi-Fi, you don't need to worry about your data falling into the wrong hands.

It's really because of them that we get to do what we do so we've got a world record to break let's get back to that okay so we've got all our pieces for the first half of the glider done and what we're doing is basically recreating and this part on this half here so we have the bevel on the bottom of the top and t Then the bevel on the top here is our middle section and then this is basically our link half so now fold the edge over, but what we have to do is get this angle to match this integral, the easiest way to do it. just take the letter you want and keep increasing this bevel until you can push it hard against it and it's flush so this is actually our angle guide the little glider will help us set the angles on the big letter dude what do you have to pick this up i'm going to pick this up so there's 1/2 this is this is 1/2 Sushi fluid brother yeah if we do it to see engines what you would animate you probably think it will fly good to see the path that would do. say that to see the engines of the package based on how floaty that's fine I think I think if they're in the right place and you have the right CG I think I think you'd be fine it's so floaty I was just doing this and it's catching everything so well what we're talking about right now is if you look here that's our master series p38 th in we run out to see engines and it's like 58 inches wingspan something out there this is 12 feet long and we're thinking that we're going to push it with the same foot power I agree with you I think it's going to be as slippery as yeah no I think we think we'll be I think we'll be golden okay folks new day new morning and sadly I don't have my favorite wingman Alex, he's in bad shape today, but we've got good weather right now, we get a push.
Go ahead before the next winter storm hits so I'll go ahead and start on the second half hopefully I'll have this ready to fly by the end of the day my son Noah is coming over later after school and we're going to get this flying today the first thing i need to do is glue the other half of the plane, we're doing it right so there's no way we're going to get enough hot glue to be able to make these two sides stick together and strong at the same time so we're using the super 77, this is something we use a lot of the time, whether it's making jigs or just doing big projects like this.
I'm going to spray super 77 on both sides, surface already scored my line and then I'm going to redraw the perimeter and stuff. alright Stefan when you help me get this done we could have a nice strong glue joint this is the last piece and then we are ready to join the two halves together that's sweet let's get it right thanks to my brother Stefan both halves. now we're done we're ready to start working on the assembly we're going to clean up this area here lay the floor down hopefully they'll pick up the stuff so we can glue and dry it we tape both halves together we're going to use that as a hinge to open it up pack the glue fall hot and finally the gorilla glue and then we'll put it back on the floor here the floor will actually be our template to make sure the wings are nice and level my goal is to hopefully get this done and dry it out for the time my son Noah gets here and then we can tackle electronics.
I just, you know, I can't fold under myself, yeah, you know I would never camp like that in a category 4 hurricane because everything is going to press aerodynamically into the ground exactly we're fine fine she's like a javelin you can feel the game a little here so you see how the wings are he's running how they're doing this it would probably hold together but we're going to go ahead and put a brace on it's going to be very hard to see it's going to get wider and wider about two inches above here and what it's going to do it's to form a triangle which is incredibly strong on top of that i'm going to fill it with gorilla blue possibly even a little bit in the foam to make sure this base is really strong.
I don't care much when it's flying because gravity will take care of that, but let's say we're going to make a loop where it's going to want to fold. in itself and that would be bad we double two wings a lot here it is so we'll throw it off the balcony yeah just so you know when we get to a certain stage it's good to do a slip test this is to see if it even quadruple We did it with the little ones. we have servos here but we haven't put the motors on yet before we do it we thought we should try checking this out and see how it glides and be honest we only wanted to because we want to do it it's selfish too its a huge paper plane on the balcony and I'd be mad at myself and probably a lot of you would be mad that I didn't mark this with something so that's what we're going to do it's going to fit in the door it's literally going to have to go against a building and then you're going to have to strain a lot they can do it it's actually very light which is encouraging my only concern is if it really flies well the little one almost went into the river if the river comes in we may have to build this again ok i can try to give it to my mom to help me throw let me throw a mini box if you want to help me catch pop i'm going to chase him wandering it would probably be better to do it from here but if you look we have a couple obstacles we have an ob water show like a real golf course to the right picnic tables under the flagpole right in the middle of the return flight and a willow tree to the left we're going to have to go over the spire over here and go right over Josh and Bob down there, so I don't know, we'll see how it goes, we have to go diagonal, come out and the stiffness is pretty noticeable, this is going to be the hard part, okay, so what I'm going to do here is okay.
It doesn't feel good so what I'm going to do here is okay I'm going to come down here like this family on this side are you going to do? I'm going to get out of the way, okay, yeah, I feel pretty good about that, but you have to tell me one, two, three and then I'm. three go do your thing this rocket one minute oh I didn't even think about that rod it's going to crush me I'm going higher you ready so I'm going to let it go in three yeah it's good ready one two three uneventful it worked well the fact that didn't hit a tree didn't hit a pole it was great it didn't slide as far as the smaller one no it's much happier yeah but Josh made a perfect landing he widened it perfectly yeah I'm feeling optimistic about this now obviously you're going to know how much harder we can but I'll try what if you get each of each if you get both sides for one two on them okay let's try it here shall we? many of you grab the back let me know when you are ready 4:30 ready have a way we have one too ready 1 2 3 let's kill bob bob's commitment level is going to increase why we think it's a good idea to try to catch a paper airplane that size yeah it's 12 feet yeah well I'd say it's a hit so next thing we need to do is get it back.
We're going to buy it to put it back here and we're putting some motors on it we're going with the power pack see super light so hopefully it should have enough power and then throw it back in and we'll take it to the blue over there this thing is awesome , love the size of it yeah I'm going to say that's our reality we're breaking records this was pretty much what a day build is about yeah it's less than a business day started yesterday in about the morning is fine two business yes sweet but we'll take it that's not bad i guess i'll throw it i was going to pick the smallest person to throw the biggest paper plane that ever existed ok and there's a lot we don't knowhere we are using probably the smallest motors for the largest plantwell we are ready to run what i want you to do is meet me at our C runway because i think that is where the wind blows but also if i have to bail out i can go straight , yes, no trees. that's exactly right sir let's do it luck sir here we go ok what are the engines with the best way? ridiculous listen here now yeah yeah okay you ready yeah here we go oh yeah she ain't overpowered and she ain't turning to stow it for altitude either so stay out there just get it out there What is happening now?
You do amazing things it's turning a bit there maybe you have any idea video oh come on back come on back come on it's far away how far am I oh yes you are oh you don't know on the way you're good on the top of the tree oh it's England all the way up you are well you don't go between the trees you're good keep climbing tell me where we were i would know you weren't right between the good rush you feel it's ok it doesn't go off it looks so it's like a real paper plane man goes we were lost here it looks so ridiculous like it is falling fast.
I'm fine. We're going to return a pointer to ourselves and land it if we can. back you're going back get a little more altitude you're good hold it a little love there you have it you're perfect Josh keep up awesome you're not done stay a little high status you level to level dawg you're right above the trees now it's going to be hot where am i going to hit to Kyle? you're going to hit some trees big trees you go straight through some big trees like a real newspaper see i'm coming back 12 feet paper out of the tree all i figured was honestly like which neighbor's door am i knocking on my paper, no, I took it out, although I did it well, there was more is more scary than anything else.
I called good so great shoe flew awesome landing hasn't happened yet okay okay I think we broke the records. We definitely got it right off the bat we got it right so folks thanks for being a part of the family be sure to subscribe we'll be taking on new challenges new projects all the time and see an extension
