Wipe Any PC in 2 Minutes! - Redkey USBFeb 27, 2020
Now you may think that when you delete a file or especially if you format or erase an entire drive, be it a hard drive or an ssd like this, that data just disappears, but actually if you were to properly delete all the files you deleted from your computer , it would be a significant cost both in terms of time because you would really have to take time out of your busy drive schedule to run your operating system or your games or whatever to write ones or zeros all over that part of the drive and on terms of durability especially with ssds that only have a finite number of times they can be written to so the way this actually works is in mbr or gpt which is the g and d partition table the entry for the file is deletes but the actual data remains until it's accidentally overwritten, which means that if you're ever going to recycle a computer drive or if you're going to give a computer away to a friend you need to make sure all your selfies and i really mean all of them have been deleted successfully from your machine and that excuse me is where today's product comes in this is the red key usb that allows you to erase fast and easily any computer and also we'll probably show you guys a free way to do this because this is kind of unnecessary but free it's free okay and this video is brought to you by g-skill rgb memory trident z royal series this stuff features a brushed aluminum heat sink and this really cool crystalline structure on top that allows the rgb lighting to come through in an absolutely eye catching way you can see it in the link in the video description so let's start by watching what's in here so supposedly we should just plug this in and it'll give us its own little screen and it'll start wiping out so this is actually the usb
redkeyor iginal um they're funny I don't know what to make of this guy so it's kickstarter he apparently delivered for his backers a really really small campaign I think they only raised about 11 000 or something and then the site is now down despite the fact that the only instructions I can find on how to update and its red key includes lifetime updates go to their site and download the latest updates although they are working on an online update for the new one but then the site it doesn't work at all so I don't know how your online update will work anyway.
I have a new campaign that actually ends in 36 hours. It took us so long to get to this. I don't know where I'm going with this. Let's ruin it. Let's try. What is this? to keep it oh just to keep it there yeah so the blue key is nothing this is just a 16 gig key so you actually know what jake can use to make it like our free version so i was thinking of using a tool called d-band but i found out it is only for hard drives and the n was looking for a free ssd alternative and it really doesn't seem like there is much unless you get the tool from your ssd manufacturer like corsair has one tool samsung has a tool kingston has a tool but it doesn't show up and with those tools you can secure a run and then there is also in windows if you just reboot like you can show them right now it will give you the option to safely restart the pc which we assume it's kind of a similar tool so maybe we should try that out keep my files delete everything okay let's get it right we have an extra drive here so see delete files and li Clean the drive this may take a few hours this won't take long it's sending me it's sending me very mixed messages here windows oh god we're just doing it i thought we were you told me to do it i guess we're doing it ok we have an extra drive to test this ok now we have to let this work yeah um ok it's actually doing something now yeah that's ok ok now while this continues inues to run i think we're probably at 10 now or something i don't know let's go ahead and we're going to test our red key on our second dyno so you can see here that we've got our photos including the ones we don't want anyone to see and we're going to shut down the system we're going to show this here why are they so hairy, david, because grown men have hair, okay, yeah, find one? day oh wow you know just because you can grow a nice beard david not everyone can make the voice break dammit do you remember what his key is f2 f11 remove evgas no i just want the start menu ok it would have been f8 then but i think i'm going to go into the bios now hey hey i got it all good so i'm going to go with no uefi i think it rebooted oh no here we go. warning this device will
wipethe contents of any detected drive the
wipewill start automatically after 60 seconds that's pretty handy yeah you can c lick f1 and start now i'm going to reset it should be we should see the advanced menu yeah so if you remember the keys or if you have the manual nearby, look we don't have much time, you don't actually need the gui where is it?
Actually not only do they have all this here we're running out of time here here it is check on home screen clear screen you may hear audio beeps for the last 10 seconds of the countdown timer if your computer has a built in speaker ok f6 advanced boop will erase the contents of any detected drive random method scramble ok oh it has like government standards that's pretty good defense gutman seven random step method curse 33 random step method that's like yeah zeroing of data we're going to do zeroing no ok random is the default ok we'll do it random ok one round should we go back and then click start let's go back let's do the default let's do the default f3 f3 cancel oh dammit ok i got you oh you got it never mind so i guess we should wait so we can hear the beeps hey and we're back we said with 10 seconds left oh we really want to wait the 35 seconds yes yes I want to experience this I don't think this has a built in speaker yes it is I won't there is a speaker header here ok I started good so i pointed to the drives found our drive and the remaining time two and a half hours oh great it's nice that we use a terabyte drive with this cool thing we did one pass, pretty good, three o'clock, okay, it would be done right before the end of the day, why don't we go do the uh, why don't we go do the smart video of your garage door? our data is wiped we can remove the red key and turn off the machine so we have to put this ssd in a computer and see if there is any data on it yeah recap is it really free? of files we're trying to recover i mean we're specifically looking for images that would be a much faster scan yes we can ld search for do you want to search all yes search take a long time yes this drive is blank so we're probably going to have to configure make a partition and stuff yes would not have yes there we go no Files found.
Would you like to scan again with deep scan enabled? to find something and if that's like the boot record stuff yeah that seems likely because it's also at zero percent so we may have to leave that if we check the windows thing then yeah that'll take a little more time to scan i think ok let's throw it on my computer oh this might not be plugged in you know he does it professionally so our first drive is the one we hit the red key right there and we're trying to see if we can find any data remnants on it, then we take the other one where we used the Windows tool and we're going to go ahead and see if I don't know what we can find, I mean, I guess specifically those images, we're just going to scan them deep right away for photos or did we just do any file uh any file any file we'll get a lot of files ok we'll be back in an hour 100 000 files yeah but we know how mo are called ok sure ok we're looking for the news folder ok seven hours later we're finally done so actually this one was pretty quick and found a fair amount of stuff that was partially or totally overwritten , but we are still here with it, he said our photos are not quite Everything here is like some kind of Windows garbage, as if everything is from the Windows folder for an average person.
This seems fine, but it also assumes that your computer is still working, which is where the red key comes in. guys i was actually expecting some crap on this because i was like what 45 bucks for a usb key like what are you you know there are free utilities blah blah blah and honestly there are utilities out there but one we found which was something comparable was ten bucks and then you have to provide your own usb drive and this is like it's very easy to use so here's our result from the one terabyte drive we actually managed to find seven files um what What are they?
I don't know they are something to something to something .flvs and apparently they are in excellent state so we can go ahead and try to get one of them back but I can guarantee this is garbage um let's go ahead do we have anything that can be read by a flash video? It can't process the file how big the file is 600 meg apparently apparently but it might as well be recognizing random numbers as a flv. I don't even think I had any flv on that unit. Yeah, no, this is broken. only one pass so as a bottom line it looks pretty good to me if you have to do it a lot i mean should we use it on james yeah we should go and wipe everyone's computers i think that would be a huge waste of money I'm actually ending with, I think, a recommendation here, yeah, for $45. to do this sort of thing but this is easy enough to use almost anyone could do it so that looks pretty good to me normally these sponsor spots are pretty long but I'm going to save you some time. now on the link in the video description it makes your internet surfing safer and it's very affordable oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh. subscribed or maybe consider checki find out where to buy the stuff we feature in the link below this is going to be very awkward because i think it's going to be like between the kickstarter campaign and like you can't really buy it haha oops um anyway also linked in the video description is our merch store which has great t-shirts like this and our community forum which you should totally join.
