why you have BAD RESULTS even though you study hard
Jan 25, 2022so you are
study
ing reallyhard
, you are trying different time management methods and still you are not seeing theresults
you want, I totally understand your frustration, grab a pen and paper because here are some tips that really changed the way Istudy
and helped me improve myresults
, let's start with the biggest and most frustrating problem, which is that everyone tells us to understand and not memorize the material, but how do we actually do that? This is the study method that will help you learn the material and not blindly. memorize everything that means survey question read recite and review first skim the entire topic don't write any notes just take a highlighter and write down the learning objectives all the subtopics important points or any pictures and graphs you find with a highlighter color to subtopics and another color for important points do not underestimate this first step is extremely important for two reasons the first reason is that if you choose to write notes this is the time to identify which parts of the chapter are important you will see if youhave
50 pages of your textbook to studying, you don't want to waste time and make notes for each page, just skip to the parts that are important.I made this mistake in biology in levels where I took notes on many unimportant pages because I didn't read ahead, so while I was taking my notes I
though
t that every part was important, but that wasn't the second reason to skim through the entire Chapter one is so important because sometimes, after hours of studying, I forget what I'm doing. studying, I know some of you go through this too, that happens because wehave
focused a lot on each component of a chapter separately until we forget how to link all those concepts, so to avoid the situation you will want to write the flow of the entire topic Even before you start studying that way, you can connect all the concepts while studying and believe me, it is much easier to remember many things when there is a flow rather than trying to remember one. million different concepts separately when you are revising tell yourself okay this topic is about transportation and plants so first we need to learn about the parts of the plant then the function of those parts and then logically the Next step is to learn about the important processes of Plant likes transpiration and translocation, so once the exam is approaching, you can simply look at the title of the topic and immediately know all the concepts and components of that topic. This tip totally changes the rules of the game. The next thing you want to question is basically what you've done. You have already made your notes or studied a particular section. Now you want to write as many questions as you can for that section. For this section on water transport from the hair root to the xylem, I can create six questions. Many of you have asked me how to do it. Asking questions, it is actually very easy, just imagine yourself as a teacher setting questions for a pause on the paper to read, then you will want to read the section again, find the answers for each question and paraphrase them to save time.
You can use notion to do this when you simply press the slash key, scroll down to toggle the list, then type your question and answer. You can hide your answer by clicking the arrow next to it. Keep in mind that if you want to remember something better, typing is always better than typing because you are mentally and physically interacting with the information, don't waste time copying answers from your textbook and typing is fast but it is not the best way to learn. These are forms of passive studying and I will explain what they are later in the video below. each section you want to stop and remember all the questions you have written before, do not continue with your study session until you can answer each of the questions you have written before.
I call this the question and answer technique and it is a form of active remembering that is the best and most efficient way to remember something. I posted a video before explaining more details about this technique of remembering things and you can check it out here. The reason questioning yourself is so effective is because our brains are not satisfied if we do not have an answer to a question, therefore studying using questions keeps our minds very engaged and active when we are learning and we will not move on to another topic until you can answer all the questions you have.
I have written before the following. Now is the time to review your material. Look back at the flow of the topic you drew before you began studying this topic. If you can look at the title of the topic and correctly recite all the components and concepts. on that topic in order once then you have understood the topic well as always. Chances are you're studying passively, if you're not doing well and you don't find studying to be something that's somewhat uncomfortable or difficult to do, you're probably not studying effectively, you see things. like highlighting your textbook, just listening to your lecture and reading your notes over and over again is a completely useless way to study yourself reading the same thing over and over familiarizes you with the material, it doesn't mean you understand it the more you engage physically and mentally.
When you are studying, the more you will understand what you are really learning. This is called active study. Basically, you'll want to jot down important points during your lecture, paraphrase your answers, remember information, and ask practice questions that we All of us mentioned a moment ago, you'll also want to use as many approaches as possible, since you want all of that information to be store in your long-term memory, so instead of just reading a chapter, you'll want to show it to someone else. you know that mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, draw a mind map that summarizes the entire chapter and watch more videos that explain the topic, the more you engage with the information, the better just highlighting and writing your notes is not enough below and it is possibly the most important thing you study to get a score on the exam you are not studying to learn your way of thinking when it comes to school makes a big difference in both your mental health and your performance you consider that forgetting x is a filter for Your brain will try to learn as much information as possible and then it will start to filter out the things it doesn't consider important, so we usually have a few assessments that test a few topics and then a major exam at the end of the year that tests all the topics, so if you follow By telling yourself that only exams are important and that you only study for an exam once the exam is over, you will start to forget everything you have learned so far.
I'm sure we've all experienced this before where we forget everything. after an exam so if you keep forgetting information after every little test when it comes to your final exam you will have to relearn the entire syllabus so far because you have forgotten everything so imagine having to study one or two years of material for your final exam, of course, you won't do well. I don't really like the mentality of well, I'm not going to use this in real life anyway, so why should I study this? Why should I do it? Unfortunately, yes this is true, we are learning a lot of things that will not serve us well in the future, but many of us use this as an excuse to be lazy.
You see, it takes perseverance,
hard
work and discipline to be able to study. things that may not interest you or be practical in the future, but these are life skills that you can use in your real life, so focus on the fact that you are not so much building your character as you are learning. many unnecessary things, you are not doing anything good for yourself by having that kind of negative mindset, also, you don't have a study plan, you want to get a planner or print a calendar and write down all your important dates, like assignments, even
ts and exams, It really surprises me how many students don't have a study plan, you might say: oh, I just need to study these eight chapters.I don't need to write it down, but you should write down your exam date, your topics and what exactly you need to study for each topic and then separate them according to priority. I can't tell you how many times I've been overconfident and chose not to plan just because I forgot to study something important or didn't plan my time. well i completely forgot about the exam, the more you plan, the less worrying you will have to do next, you are not curious enough, an ad may play in the next few seconds, so if you want to support this channel, don't skip the ads, thank you.
When you're studying, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things you don't understand and at times you think: I wonder why that is like that. Make a list of each thing you don't understand. and don't ignore your questions, so take the time to ask your teacher to search the internet or watch videos to expand their understanding and find those answers. What most students don't realize is that you can think about the question and the answer. is not directly in your textbook, that question could appear on your exam because professors find all kinds of sneaky ways to twist the question a little to confuse the majority of students and if you are the minority who actually took the Time to do the research and find the answer and then you'll get those extra grades.
You have no idea how many times my curious little questions that I
though
t weren't important actually came up for the exam. Then you try to study more than you can handle. Go to your teacher. or the teacher and ask which topics are most popular or have the most ratings. Focus on that first. You can also find out which topics are most popular by reviewing the previous year's papers. I understand that sometimes the topic can be very difficult or you are just studying. Last minute, if that is the case, it is better for you to study and excel in 5 of the 8 subjects rather than performing poorly in all of them for an economics level. It is very obvious which topics are more popular than the others, so many students simply concentrated on a few topics and got a very good score. Then, you are studying correctly but answering incorrectly for essay-heavy subjects. Take the sample answers and write down the important points they used before you
even
start writing your own essays. I did this for both Bahasa Malayu and Economics and got an advantage in both because I was writing exactly what the examiners wanted. Also, when you are doing last year's questions, write your corrections with a different color pen and study them before the exam for each topic, I make a small booklet containing all my corrections and popular questions with their sample answers that way you can give the examiners exactly what they want and you can learn from your mistakes if you've made it this far comment below if you're Generally happy with your results or not and I'll be sure to respond.Make sure to like this video and subscribe if you enjoyed it and turn on notifications and set it on everything so you don't miss any future uploads.
