May 30, 2021
Guys, welcome back, it's Racer X and today I want to talk a little about a controversial topic. Actually in my opinion the scat pack may be

than the Hellcat and as you know I have both cars so I want to explain why I feel that way. Should be a fun little video. Guys, if you are new to the channel, make sure to hit the subscribe button in the corner. Here we go, well it's a nice cool day. We're in North Texas so I think it might be time to bring out the Hellcat for this one too if you give it some remote start action.

My neighbors love this. Well, guys, first. I want to start by talking about him. Hellcat, this is my baby. I love this car, as you can see it's obviously the charger version. I love the fact that we have both a charger and a challenger, as you know we have the scat pack here with the 6.4 liter engine. Naturally Aspirated Hemi and these two cars couldn't be

. I absolutely love them both, but I want to focus for just a second on the Hellcat, as we know it in 2015, Dodge really set the world on fire. when announcing the Hellcat because not only were they putting it in their flagship challenger, but they're also putting it in a sedan, so you can imagine, everyone lost their minds because before that, the Shelby actually had 662 horsepower or something like that, that was the bad daddy of them all and no one could believe when they came out with that car in 2013, how much head horsepower and therefore dodging really raised the bar for everyone in terms of horsepower. performance for dollar and I'm telling you when you talk about fun to drive the Hellcat is absolutely legit so I'm just going to pop the hood on this bad boy and as you know those of you who know my channel obviously I've got some stuff going on here. stuff under the hood, but you're talking about that supercharged 6.2 engine, that supercharged 2.4 liter that was sitting on top and the car made 707 horsepower out of the box and it's an absolute blast to drive in every way.

More Interesting Facts About,

why the scatpack is more fun to drive on the street than the hellcat...

The 8 speed automatic transmission they put in is said to be absolutely fantastic and even for the manual guys they had a deal for you on the Challenger version, so how can anything be more fun to drive than that? Well, I really didn't. I think that was going to be the case until we bought this little scat package here. I've driven a couple of scat packs before but not really or the 6.4 liter naturally aspirated engine that before the scat pack was the srt and you know what guys it's a fantastic little engine and I'm really very satisfied with it, but I just didn't think anything of it until I actually drove this car and realized how much fun it is to drive the

street

guys.
why the scatpack is more fun to drive on the street than the hellcat
I'm actually in the Hellcat right now and I'll tell you what, and as most of you know, every time I get on this, I dream like a school kid because it's just flat. stupid, it's stupid, fast, stupid, powerful, it looks cool and I'll tell you there's just not much to complain about when they drive us a dam that does this, it's just stupid but you know what guys at the end of the day they know. with a supercharged engine it's just different than a naturally aspirated engine and as we know this is a road style blower that sits on top of the 6.2 liter engine and the reason it's a 6.2 is actually because Dodge decided to make the orifice. a little smaller on this car just to give it a little more meat, so to speak, because Dodge basically made the Hellcat like an engine built to boost, so it didn't have to be as big as the regular SRT. six point four engine, so you know, they wanted to keep those walls nice and thick inside that engine, but what I will say is that with any supercharged car, whether it's a centrifugal force blower, a roots style blower or even a like turbo.
why the scatpack is more fun to drive on the street than the hellcat
There is always a little. I've driven a lot of them, there's always a little bit of lag and with the highway style blower you don't get much because when I hit it, I mean it goes pretty good and it depends on where you have it. it's in gear and stuff like that, but at the end of the day I mean it's not like driving a good naturally aspirated engine with a naturally aspirated car, I mean the millisecond that you're stepping on the accelerator. I'm getting that instant gratification with that loud little click and even though the Hellcat just gives you big amounts of power, you know my car is modified and the car makes a lot of power, there's just a small amount of little kind of lag right before let it be key. "You've got power and you just don't understand that with the Scat Pack.
It's kind of crazy how the car works, that makes it time to take the Scat Pack out for a little run. Those of you have it." Obviously I haven't seen it, you know it's there, it has a 6.4 liter naturally aspirated engine. I really like this Challenger because of the way the cabin wraps around you, it's a completely different feeling than the Charger, but it's nice. cool car to drive so let's get to it now I'm on board the 2019 Scat Pack Challenger with the shaker pack and guys I love driving this car it's so much fun to drive and it just never seems to get old it's a very similar to the Hellcat, but it's different and what I mean by that is that well, I'll go ahead and jump to my points here.
The number one cars are lighter, whether you drive the Challenger or the Charger, the Hellcat weighs about 200 pounds in both. versions, that's what it is and although these cars aren't real by any stretch of the imagination, you feel like it's a little bit lighter car when you drive it, you can actually feel it a little bit and especially when it comes to responsiveness. Of the car, being naturally aspirated, there is simply no lag when you hit it. I drive this car and I keep charging, believe it or not, just because I love the way it feels when you accelerate and how I'm going to lean into this.
In fact, I'm going to slow down a little. Here we are at 3500 rpm and when I hit it it's instant, we just go and it makes the car so much fun to drive, you just feel it. so sporty and so willing, and you know what makes a big difference when you drive, the next thing I want to mention is that when we talked about it a little bit earlier, this engine is actually a six point four liter versus a 6.2 and that also helps in somewhat with the responsiveness of the car, yes, it doesn't have a big supercharger sitting on top of the engine that just puts air into it, but you don't have to wait for the power and that big six point four liter engine breathes below.
Dodge did a very good job with the intakes on this car in terms of how it draws in air. I feel like it's actually pretty efficient from the factory and that's why isn't there a lot of gain with air intakes and stuff like that on these cars and you know what I mean? It is simply an engine with a lot of power. The Hemi engine has plenty of power, especially in the six-point-four, and it's like when you ask the guys at Artistes to drive the 6.4. The first thing I tell you is that there is a big difference in torque and this is what I mean, yes the Hellcat obviously makes more torque, but it is that instant torque. that instant gratification that little agility that this engine has and makes it a lot of fun to drive on the street another reason why the scat pack is so fun to drive on the street is that from the factory the scat pack comes with a 309 gear a Hellcat It comes with 262 gears.
I think they just added the factory option to get 309 and as you know my car, my Hellcat, I went ahead and put a 309 diff in there because it just lives in the car and you know. Obviously the Hellcat is long-legged from the factory, that thing does over 200 miles per hour with all 262 gears, so while the scat package doesn't have the top speed of the Hellcat, it does have plenty of low-end capsule and That's where this car really shines and I'm driving down a back road. It was fun and I can really get discouraged with this little sale, but this six or this one, listen to it, it just says, man, just the car, it just doesn't.
Nonsense, you know, it doesn't have that strong pull like the Hellcat on the top, but in terms of that instant snap and gratification, man, it's actually really nice and a lot of that is down to the 3:09 gearing that comes on these . cars is perfect for that boat and I recommend avoiding it. I think it's a perfect setup and that's why a lot of Hellcat guys go to the 309 just for that kind of quick low-end punch that the discs possess and lastly, you know. The big reason I think the scat pack is a lot of fun to drive on the street compared to the Hellcat is that the power it makes is not only agile but also reliable power and what I mean by that is that it reduces the power quite well now I want to warn that the little 2:45 tires that come in the scat package yes, those are worthless, this car will blow them up almost whenever it wants, it doesn't hold on to them, but I tell you what you put a set of drag radials on the back of this car like I'm racing and I have some Mickey Thompson Street SS and 305 drag radials on the back of this car.
It's an absolutely perfect setup. Very very planted and the car doesn't want to turn at all, every ounce of power feels like it hits the ground very well and uses it effectively. In the Hellcat, it's a completely different story because the power comes only in trickles. I mean, it's light, you just turn it on and you just downshift and apply hard power and then usually the tires just hit a wall and anyone who has driven a Hellcat knows exactly what I'm talking about. Tires on downshifts go up in smoke and while it's fun, it's not necessarily efficient, right?
And everyone knows a twin turns, so some of you may have remembered my zero to sixty tests on the street, the scat pack was almost as fast as the Hellcat now we know the Hellcat will pull away on the big end, too We know the Hellcat on a sticky track will dominate because it's not going to spin like it does on the street, but on the street, guys, the scat pack will hang up. with a Hellcat I found out especially with a good driver so you know drag radials are kind of an equalizer the Hellcat will dominate the drag radials so guys I mean those are really my big things when it comes to why the scat pack is so It's so much fun to drive on the street, it's so shocking and I'm telling you man the power is perfect in terms of the way the power shows up on the street and that's why the scat pack can be quite formidable with the right.
The tire setup on the rear is because it provides just the right amount of power without trying to spin out of shape and that's really the key, well guys I actually approached a group of scats and Hellcats. Probably the world's favorite place is a gas station, so I hope you enjoyed the little ending to the little video. I just want to point out why I thought maybe the Scat Pack was actually maybe a little more fun to drive on the street. than bad Daddy Hellcat, you guys may agree, you may disagree and that's okay, but please leave your comments in the comments section below.
I really appreciate you tuning in until next time, Racer X.
