Hi guys, I'm Pam with 44 Market Place and today we're working on this piece of

furniture

. Let's recreate the look I showed you the other day. The client loves this, so let's do it first thing. What we're going to do is: can you do this with a nice wire brush? You can pick them up at any big box store. Harbor Freight, whatever, but I had to finish, this opens up the grain and you want to make sure you get all your edges out she really doesn't like this medium brown it's not very popular anymore so we've abused it a little and now we're going to remove some of this dust. remove it with a dust vacuum and if you notice, I don't know if you can notice this, but it actually has splits between the boards, so let's highlight that, now that we have this clean thing that we want. to make sure we get all the dust out of those little crevices and everything's good, now you can see we've brushed it with a wire brush and we're going to you can't dilute the paint with water half and half.

I do that. sometimes, but other times I just take a bottle sir, wet my

furniture

and there you have it, I'm done, so I use my Klingons because you know that's my drug of choice, dance your face a little, the bottles sir are a If you go To do that, you want to take some paint and just start brushing it off if it's not wet enough. Mine isn't at all because we just want to whiten, we're not going to paint this. piece of furniture that we want to whitewash on this one and then we will clean it, you want to make sure and clean the edges because that is very important, we want this whole piece to look like the drawer that we made in the other one. day I don't really want it matchy-matchy you want to make sure you get back into all these little indentations keep your mr. close the bottle because we don't want paint, we just want something like a whitewash, we want wet pants in all these little grooves and all that and it doesn't matter if you put some paint on it somewhere else, don't do it.

More Interesting Facts About,

I get stressed because we're going to make the whole piece, so you're going to need it everywhere. I love my bottle. I don't know how people do it without it and you can see my pain is very opaque because that's what we do. Come on, we just want a whitewash, we want to neutralize this medium brown vase, so we're going to turn around and clean it, we don't want it to be all paints, we just want to use the base. now some people say you start with a darker base and side colors and whites because that gives you more depth.

I think it's six out of half a dozen of the other, but if you like to start with a dark base with all the names, have it your way. You know, Burger King, do it your way, there you do it your way. I only know what I want in this piece because I already made the drawer and I'm going to start with a light base because I want that first. what I have to do is neutralize this kind of brown that I have and you can see there's not really much of a thought process in what we're doing, you just want to give this a little coat of lime if you want. go over it again or whatever, start, make sure you don't have any drips, don't use the drip all over the floor, I have a drop cloth down so it's not a big deal, but you don't want it to drip everywhere you want . to get it into these little wormholes.

I don't know if you can tell where you're looking from but this piece has great detail and you'll want to see those pigtails and if they're a little wider they'll be easier to see and it's not like we made a tall one with some dark wax before we all was said and done, so now you can see that we have a whiten on top of this, it's not actually white that we want. A yellow wash, well, a drop cloth wash is what I'm going to use. I don't want white right on this piece. I could use it even better if I had put a piece of drift

wood

that is gray here and then put white. on top and that would give them a great wash, but that's not the direction I want this piece to go and I want it to just have a little bit of drape to it, that's the base, so we're going to let this sit for just a minute and if you guys watching say hello let me know where you're from my comments don't show up if you said something if you get a chance share this for me let's make this right so you can see we have it very good very light if you want to let it dry and leave it as it is, you'd have to be a little neater than me, you can do it, I mean you could do it like this, just brush over it and smooth out those boos and that's it, you can leave it like this because what we're going to do on it would be fine, but we're not going to leave it like this, this paint we're on I'm going to clean it up a little bit and we can put another set in here because I really don't want it to look packaged but bleached because that's the look we're going for, I don't know how many of you.
I saw my drawer, I did it right, this is dry, I'll bring it in and show it to you, this is our drawer and the client really likes the finish so I wanted to show it to you quickly, yeah, let's do it. this blouse together and then I'll finish the rest this afternoon so it's ready for her to see tonight and then we'll stash it in Gator and it'll be ready to be delivered tomorrow, okay, now we're I'm going to write some of these down, we've neutralized it and when you're cleaning, if you turn the cloth over, it'll clean better because you're not trying to paint the page, you're trying to whiten the face, okay?
Clean as much or as little of this top as you like. We want to add a little bit of lightness and brightness to the room, so we can put a little bit more back here because part of it is a little bit wider than I want to do it today, but if you're going for that white, just a whitewashed look, that's right. how do you do it. I don't know if you can see it from where you are, but in some cases it's kind of a medium brown. and when you start with a medium brown and you go in this direction, it's great because you can see the definition, I don't know if you can or not, but you can see the definition between the boards and a lot of people, that's really what they're looking for is the definition between the boards between the slabs and when we're done highlighting you'll be able to see it even more so we're going to let this dry for just a second and then we're going to Let's see if we want a little bit more in these rhythms when you're cleaning, make sure you're not cleaning too much. vehemence in your groups because if you do, you will erase it from your rhythms and that is not really what you are doing.
What we're going to do is remove it from your groups so you can also dry brush this once you're done because the next thing we're going to do is add some Buddha and Tobacco Road gel stain. color so you can see what it looks like, we're going to be fine, so now when you're blanching, you can go back and add a little bit more. I want to put more weight on the little holes because we're going to go. Back and we're going to put the town paint on this to change the color a little bit. This is a little bit browner than we wanted it to be and she wants to lean more towards a darker brown, not so much. the medium brown and so we're going to make sure that it's not this color, we're going to add our second layer of drop cloths to make sure that we've gotten it the way we want it to be told.
I like it. I layer my colors here, even though I'm cleaning up. I really like to layer my colors and now I know a lot of people just water their paint straight and I do that too but I wanted you to see if I don't want to if you've already poured the paint but you don't want to put water on it in case you don't use all of it. the paint you've poured, this is a great way to do it. because if you do it this way, any paint you have left can be put back in your container or closed and used on other occasions.
I mean, there's no waste at all this way, it's just very similar to mixing. and that you're just putting a little bit of color in here and you put a little bit of water on it and that's it, so we bleach this top again, we're going to let it sit for another minute and then wipe it off and then we're going to move on to the Voodoo gel dye because this is a pretty quick process when you consider that I didn't put more on the edges because you know the edges are pretty clear, but if you wanted to, it's real. simple just take your brush and pull it down or whatever because you're going to clean it so it doesn't matter if you don't want to tarnish your furniture just mr.
Brush that way, you will spread the paint and it will be good or better, but you can clean it with a damp cloth. There are many ways to do white wash. You can also use stripping stains which I like to use. whatever I have on hand and as you know I always have Dixie Belle on hand so we're using Dixiebell drop cloth for this white wash and oh yeah that's way better definitely definitely definitely more than what I was searching right now. You can let it dry as much or as little as you like. I'm going to add a little bit back in and I'm going to add the joseline video, so I have to let this dry a little bit more and more.
Look, the more you can clean if you've left too much on and you're thinking, wow, that's too heavy. Take a damp cloth or baby wipes and it cleans up very easily. Also keep in mind that when you're cleaning with the grain, if you have slaps like I have on this and you wipe those slaps, you'll notice that you'll wipe them off, usually you want to wipe them against the brain, but to get the look I'm going for, I have to do it. wipe with the grain on this piece, so you just have to be careful with those inventions and things like that, you just want to wipe a little bit lighter and if you notice that when you're cleaning, you just want to have a uniform look. pressure level when you're cleaning because if you let it drag in some places it will leave marks okay now this is what we have so far we've gone from medium brown to that and if you want to wear gloves wear gloves but DTL doesn't have BOC , so you don't have to do that.
We'll let this dry for a minute and I'll show you my messy thing, but it's dixiebell and this jar probably had leftovers from one kind. I could have had two ounces and I definitely won't need more than that to do what I'm doing today. I won't have to have hardly any paint. Maybe it's necessary for announcer Tim to do this whole table. He'll take longer than it will take to paint, so we'll let this dry for just a second. Strine well if you want to speed up the process, you can use a hair dryer, heat gun, be careful with a heat gun.
I can make bubbles in the paint, but let it dry really well for a second. I'm very impatient. I hate it and I let it dry, so it's hard for me to sit here and not try, so I'm going to grab the glitter. I'm going to speed this process up, quick, excuse the noise, but we're going to speed this up because I want to go ahead and apply my blue gel stain here, so now we have it, I just want it to be dry all the way. touch now let's put on our gel tint now you have a couple of different ways you can use the gel tint you can put the gel tint on directly with a brush you can dilute it with water many times when I'm putting it on a finish like this .
I just put a little bit on my cardboard and put a little bit of water on it and that really helps the process because you don't want to smudge every part of what you just saw too much. so we're going to use our brush lightly and you know me on the dog food trays, we're going to go over this so we can put a little bit of brown in there and I know it sounds crazy. We neutralized it but we're using different colors of brown just to highlight this a little bit and then you'll see we're going to come back with our brown wax and give it a very different color than it was when it started.
We don't want a medium brown there, okay, we want a little colder. The brown that was there was a little bit medium and that's not what we're going for, so we're going for a little bit cooler. finish and you can take your fabric and mix this with whatever you want to make. You want it to be something random. Make sure you get those edges. I already told you, make sure we get some paint on some spots. on those edges because we've already bleached them, so we have to make sure we have something there and if you get too much, you can always bleach again.
I mean, nothing is set in stone, you don't do it. you have a certain way you have to do things they don't have to be done in a certain order just because you overdo one thing here or there don't stress about it just go over it again with a little something else add another layer because it's all about of the coats, that's how you're going to get the best finish that you can get, okay, we need a little bit more stain because I want it a little bit more, a little bit more water, okay, okay. so you have to stay in layers up there, now that our stain is on, we're going to rub it in just a little bit, we want them to blend with your mouth, okay, and a lot of people will brush it and think, well, let them look like I wanted , you didn't mix it, mix it, make sure you mix, mix things up, okay, that's the goal of this, we want it to have a nice old

wood

finish, so we have to mix.
Make sure everything is a good mix, and because you're mixing it, that also negates the drying time. Okay, now you can see this is what we have and I'm going to take a better one. image in a minute, so now that we've got this like this, we're going to go back in with our wax brush, okay, okay, so once you've got this up, we're going to go over it again. Let's add our details again, okay, let's go over it again, improve theselines, remember what I told you about the lines between the boards, well, we have to make sure you notice those points, okay? guys check out the article I shared the other day about Alabama accents being the most popular, that's pretty funny because you know I probably got the biggest Alabama accent of all, no it never goes away so let's do this advantage and then I'll put the camera down once we're done a little bit more of this so you can see the whole piece and get an idea of what it looks like because it's really nice areas like this.
Do I have my favorite wax brush? too much, okay, so you can see, we go back and forth making sure we highlight everything that we wanted to highlight, you know, we want to make sure that you have all the little details that you wanted to highlight, if so. Too much wax in one spot always just run a little bit over that spot again and it will be fine, spread it out. The wax takes a while to dry, so you have plenty of time to work. You know you don't have to worry. about it being too much, make sure you get those edges, there's a little mass right there, go over again, you just want to make sure it doesn't have to be even, but that you have all the highlights that you're looking for. highlights, you know you just want to make sure that everything has that feel, everything good, a little bit more here, okay, let's take this off and let you see what we're doing, okay, by the way, here's my new apron that one of my sellers gave me to use how nice it is, okay so this is what we're looking at, I'm going to turn it over to you, not me, so we take it from this, you can see a nice medium brown. to this so we can add a little bit of still having that rustic feel but add a little bit of a lighter color and you see we went ahead and got our edges we had to make sure we got all of that everything looks nice and rustic like out old and that way your piece looks like it has some age, it's a solid wood piece of furniture, but it actually looks a lot better than when it started, so to recap, we whitewashed it with a Dixiebell drop cloth.
We used some voodoo gel dye, highlighted it with some brown Bess Tang works and once the wax dries we'll cover it with Dixie Belle's Gator fur and that's it, thanks for looking, have a great weekend .
