WHAT WE LEARNED AFTER ALABAMA'S LOSS TO TEXAS
Sep 10, 2023Hello,
what
's happening everyone? I'm Kyle Henderson from Bama Football on YouTube. Alabama falls to Texas tonight 34-24 here at Brighton Denny Stadium. A couple of takeaways after Alabama's firstloss
of the season. Now we talked to Jalen Miro after the game and also. Nick Saban spoke about the improvement and frankly said that the season is not over so they have a lot to improve. You can watch those interviews right here at Bama Football on YouTube. For me, it stems from a couple of key factors and I tweeted this. was number one, I think Texas was the best football team.I think Texas earned this victory. Alabama had its opportunities and Nick Saban talked about that during his press conference, there were a couple of really big penalties that took some points away from Alabama tonight, but I think. when you look at it collectively it comes down to a couple of things, number one, Quinn, yours was good, he was better than Jalen Miro tonight, in fact, that night he went 24 38 with three touchdown passes and threw for 349 yards , he outplayed Jalen Morrow Alabama quarterback. who went 14-27, 255 yards, two touchdowns, was sacked five times and threw two costly interceptions.
Now I think the Texas defensive line beat the Alabama offensive line and I didn't necessarily anticipate creating that coming into the game and I think that really made an impact. In the overall stretch of the game, now coming into this game, I felt like if there was a big turnover where there was something to really get this crowd going, Alabama might even take this game, but I felt like if Texas could score first.
what
they did, they were going to turn this into a street fight, coach Saban said it would be a street fight and the teams exchanged scores and at one point Alabama, you know, just takes the lead, but then Texas scores 21 points in the fourth quarter and results in a 10 point win, the pressure on Jalen Millrow was monumental, that being said, Jalen Morrow just didn't have it tonight, there were a couple of times where you were looking to see if Coach Saban was going to intervene.Another quarterback and actually Coach Saban said he didn't think about it, but then there was that play later in the second half of the game where Jalen Millro throws a touchdown and that created some momentum so Coach Saban kept Melro on Melrose. I played the whole game against Texas and I think a lot of people were like, well, the coach is Jalen Miro and I think that's on our minds right now. Can Jalen Mirrow get this team where they want to go? a national championship is clearly not going to be perfect and you know I want to hear from you in the comments box if you think Jalen Milro is capable of leading this team to a national title to an SEC title to 10+ wins or what?
Do you think maybe it's Tyler Buckner or maybe Ty Simpson that needs a chance? Are you surprised you didn't see another quarterback in this particular game when you look at the overall stats receiving the wise Kobe Prentiss, who was targeted six times and had five catches? passes for 68 yards Jermaine Burton had two receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown that went for 49 yards and then ran the ball Jason MccLellan had 12 carries for 47 yards and Jalen Miller had 15 rushing attempts for 78 yards, the talented goal kicker of Reichert Alabama's field was good 51-42 and 30. and punter James Burnup had five punts for 263 yards, the longest being 61 yards.
I thought for the most part he did a very good job. There was a punt that he made, um, looking at the overall stats. In the defensive stats here after Alabama's
loss
to Texas, you had Trezman Marshall, who led the team with 10 total sacks, as well as Caleb Downs. Now Caleb Downs was beaten Over the Top by Xavier Worthy. Xavier worthy, a very talented coach. Saban called him one of the best wide receivers in all of college football tonight he was targeted 10 times he made five receptions for 75 yards which was a 44 yard touchdown he had jatavion Sanders he was targeted seven times he caught five passes for 114 yards in the that the defensive side of the ball was also a problem, how do you think the secondary played? They were matched up with the very talented Texas team and I thought overall the defense you know they are attacking very well in open space, but I knew they would be challenged by Texas is an elite offense and if you look at Caleb Downs, he had 10 tackles, Deontay Lawson had eight, Jalen, seven keys, Kool-Aid had five, but when you look at the overall sacks, zero, Alabama had zero sacks on Quinn, yours and I knew it coming into this game. If Alabama was going to win this game, they needed to get to Quinn, which they didn't do tonight, so you have to give credit to the Texas offensive line and in fact, when you look at the quarterback hurries, Alabama only had three quarterback hurries over yours and I think that was a monumental factor in this game tonight.
I want to hear from you about this team in general, it's a small sample size. Alabama got blown out in the middle in the first week and then faces the tough Texas team here at Brian Denny Stadium in the fall against the Longhorns 34- 24 next week I will be in Tampa, Florida when Alabama takes on South Florida and I want to continue talking about this team, talk about where this team is headed in general in the third week of the college football season from beautiful Bryant Denny Stadium here in beautiful Tuscaloosa Alabama Kyle Henderson a Bama football on YouTube
