lexus

considering the Ferrari 599 at the time with a v12 at a base price of three hundred and ten thousand dollars, however this instantly became a legend and with the Nurburgring package which we will talk more about in the rest from this video actually set the Nurburgring record for the year, let's take a look at this key, it's actually a bit boring for a $400,000 car carbon fiber unit that needs to be inserted into the ignition and then clicked the start button to start the engine.

I have a separate small remote for locking and unlocking. Let's go inside the car to open the hood and show you what it looks like. The door handles are now in an interesting location on the top of the car. help improve the aerodynamics so we don't have anything to disrupt the side. Interestingly, we have a manual keyhole right here in case the key fob dies, so we'll go ahead and open it and then reach down here to open the engine so the Lexus LFA is powered by a naturally aspirated v10 4 .8 liters. The engine was built in conjunction with Yamaha, the musical instrument company, to create the best sounding v10 engine ever.

More Interesting Facts About,

They took everything they knew about sound engineering and harmonics and combined it with the Lexus division. Toyota who are developing v10 engines for their Formula 1 cars at the time to create an absolute masterpiece, now you will notice that I am holding the hood upright, that is because the hood support rod is actually disconnected from the hood, you have to take this out. it's carbon fiber and then gluing it on, it's actually a little difficult, you'll notice that the whole hood is actually carbon fiber, but check this out, the valve covers are actually lowered and then the top of the front wheels coming down The center of gravity of the car immensely the center of gravity of the car is actually only seventeen point eight inches above the ground, which is very impressive for a 47 inch tall vehicle.

Go ahead and close the hood. Some power figures for you are five hundred fifty-three horsepower and 350 four. pound-feet of torque from zero to sixty occurs in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 202 miles per hour. Now not everyone loves the look of the Lexus LFA. I'm actually a big fan of it, it has these remnants of a 1990 Supra, but with more angles, the headlights aren't the most attractive, but the overall shape is just iconic and its design leans to one side. A lot of people get confused into thinking it's a mid-engined car because of the vents here under the door, like you get into a mid-engined Lamborghini or a Ferrari, but it actually serves to cool the brakes additionally and there's also a radiator in the rear.

We have an adjustable rear spoiler that goes up to fifty miles per hour. This beautiful triangular

exhaust

. It was tuned by Yamaha and they actually had an amazing commercial where they broke a wine glass just by revving it, that's how loud it is one of the best, if not the best, sounding engines of all time. Okay, let's go ahead and jump into the LFA, once again, the door handle is up here. Now I will say that some of the controls are a little flimsier than what you're used to in a car in this price range. The door handle, for example, moves up and down and doesn't.
I don't feel like it's the best quality, although we do have very high quality carbon fiber leather. I love that you can see the carbon fiber monocoque right here, absolutely beautiful. Now let's go ahead and jump inside the LFA to adjust these seats. controls we have something very unique instead of a traditional type of lever right here we have these fins that push this forward let's see how it goes push it back the seat goes back lift it up and down down and then this one controls the backrest we also have controls of heated seat in three different stages, ahead there, let's close the door and start the car, go ahead and grab the key first so we can start the Lexus LFA towards you.
You have to insert this key into the slot here, turn it all the way to the right and then if the car is in Drive, first you have to pull both paddles to put it in neutral and then click the engine start button and on fire it is that 4.8 liter naturally aspirated V10, so the seat belt is also quite unique, it's very, very thick and that's because it actually has a small airbag for added safety, quite interesting technology that doesn't I have seen in no car other than the new generation Ford SUVs. To use them, one of the most interesting features of the Lexus LFA has to be the digital tachometer.
They made it completely digital for a reason, not to look cool, but because the car accelerates so fast that it actually only takes 0.6 seconds to accelerate from idle. which is about a thousand rpm right now at nine thousand rpm 0.6 seconds how ridiculous is that but what's even cooler is what the screen actually looks like so if we put the car in sport mode check this out , the screen actually turns white with a red. The red line now on the right is a control that not many people know about that actually changes the shift speed so we can change the shift speed up to the maximum setting to be the fastest possible or the slowest setting. which doesn't make any sense.
I don't know why we would do that now that we have some of these smaller ones, they are that small. They are actually pretty sturdy turn indicators. I've seen them literally be less than a quarter of an inch thick. Same with the windscreen wipers, we have beautiful metal blades for the six-speed single-clutch automated manual gearbox. We'll talk more about that. When we take this thing out on the road, I'm going to put the climate control on because I'm actually on fire here, so to control the infotainment screen I was figuring out how to use the climate control because it's not self-explanatory.
You use this little switch here, which is actually quite frustrating. Lexis tried this for a while and then she hit it. up on newer models to select return use these buttons here it shows some pretty disappointing graphics but there was a 10 year development cycle on this car so it was being produced it started life in 2000 it wasn't produced until 2011 .in 2012, but I imagine some of the things they developed were older technology, so to go to the weather, we click in and then you have to move your finger very gently to get to these different settings and this is up there. and down on the climate control to make it hotter or colder and this is up and down the other way overall the infotainment system is quite difficult to use but this is one of the best sports cars in all time, one of the best. for driving, that doesn't really matter at all just wanted to point it out you have a little glove box here that can be locked there you have some tools in here actually wow we have a USB and auxiliary port which is awesome interesting - design with this double type of height in carbon fiber everywhere, you also have some storage space back here, now the rear visibility is really fantastic, the rear spoiler reaches a perfect height where you can see the entire rear of the car now looks above me shoulder.
I have good visibility and over my other shoulder it's actually pretty decent. Well guys, it's finally time to

drive

the Lexus LFA. Now interesting enough to put the car in reverse, normally there would be a reverse button. over here or maybe you pull the left button but that doesn't work, the reverse button is actually all the way to the side here you pull it back and then it puts it in reverse, not a terrible backup camera for 2012, although it doesn't. It doesn't have any guide so it's a little hard to tell what's going on, it doesn't look like it's perfectly set either, I'm not even too sure what's shown there on the rear bumper, but you can't actually put it into first gear from reverse you have to put it into neutral again and then into first, so it's a sequential gearbox, this is a single clutch automated manual transmission, it's not a dual clutch system, we'll talk a little bit more about that as well that we will enter first. gear now we are in normal mode there are four different driving modes we have normal and wet Auto Sport we are going to go ahead and go into sport mode which shows a more elegant looking tachometer such a beautiful and beautiful design I love the white first and come on, in actually for a vehicle with a single clutch transmission, it doesn't wobble when stopped, it's quite easy to use, it's a wild cat, they are interesting, I love the little noise of the transmission, you can hear a lot of different noises inside the LFA It really makes you feel like you're driving something special, even with just a tenth of the throttle.
It sounds incredible with the 4.8-liter V10 engine that revs up to 9,000 rpm. How amazing is it that the steering is electronically assisted so as not to take away power from that 552 horsepower engine, it's not really that communicative, it's nice and direct, it changes direction very quickly, but you don't really feel any bump or communication between the tires, the road and the steering wheel, which is a bit surprising for something that was basically born. on the race track, the paddle actuation itself is fantastic, some of the best feeling paddles in the business, they are actually extremely thin, but they are wrapped in leather on the side, it feels really nice in your hands, they remain mounted. the steering column so you always know where they are they are not attached to the steering wheel itself they could be a little longer but they are not necessary the traction control button which we are not going to turn off now because the tires are really nice bald on this thing is on the left and we have a light switch here, interestingly enough, one of the craziest buttons and the whole car is the location of the rear spoiler, as you can see now by looking in the rearview mirror.
I can not see. the rear spoiler is because it's down, the spoiler button is actually behind the seat here, so if I can feel it, no, let me use my other arm, so raising the rear spoiler manually once you're already driving the car is practically impossible now. it automatically appears at 50 miles per hour, so you don't necessarily need to do that, but the car looks a lot more aggressive and cooler with the wing out, it's got these little turn indicators that actually feel pretty sturdy, especially because of how thin What are they. maybe save weight go ahead and turn right here now the steering wheel feels fantastic in your hands these leather wrapped steering wheel parts in nine and three perfect grips i love it okay let's listen to that v10 did we just wait?
My God, that's tremendous. Oh, this is one of the best sounding cars I've ever driven in my entire life. The reason they chose a single-clutch gearbox instead of a dual-clutch one is that LFA's chief engineer wanted it to be a more analogue manual experience that feels like the boat of a manual transmission vehicle and It does it very very well, in fact the steering feel is nice, okay, hit the gas again, oh my goodness, oh that's fantastic, it might actually be the best. sounds like the car i have ever driven oh wow its so nice to drive - holy moly extraordinarily low center of gravity almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution the brakes are phenomenal these seats are some of the most comfortable bucket seats if not the most comfortable seats I have ever experienced hold you in your place extraordinarily well but at the same time don't break your back a little lurking, they wobble but nothing too bad now you can control it.
I haven't gotten to the redline yet because we're not in the best environment for it, but you can actually control the RPM at which the flashing indicator appears to shift gears on the screen, which is a really cool customizable feature that happens. if you press directly on the d-pad and then you have a bunch of controls here, let's go to the Rev indicator on and look, you can choose what RPM you want it to run at, go ahead and put the screen back on. I love how it moves to the side, that's the best. oh the chefs are awesome now it doesn't have manually adjustable springs it doesn't have controlled shockselectronically it's in its permanent setting it's a little clunky but honestly because these seats are so plush but supportive it's pretty comfortable oh that's fantastic oh this has to be in the top three five best cars I've ever driven.
I'm absolutely for the LFA, OMG, and you completely forget about any of the downsides. You know the interior isn't the best, but oh my goodness. that sound is so fantastic the steering is so nice the brakes are so good the suspension is so nice there is no body roll really none of that matters at all okay let's listen to that engine a little more go ahead and pull both paddles to put it in neutral, it's going to bother people, but do I care? No, God, that's a sound, so the craziest part is thinking that this isn't actually the definitive edition of the Lexus LFA.
In reality, they had limited the Lexus LFA to 50 units. Nurburgring Edition at the time cost $70,000 more, they are now a tremendously higher value due to their rarity and exclusivity compared to the regular LFA, so what do you get with an LFA Nurburgring Edition? Well, you get a retuned suspension, you get faster gear changes in 0.05 seconds, you also get a full training day and a night at the Nurburgring with a professional teaching you. how to drive your Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition on the Nurburgring how cool is it that now the Nurburgring Edition lf8 and 2011 set the Nurburgring record at 7 minutes and 14 seconds for reference, it was 10 seconds faster than the Porsche gt2 RS, that's something incredible. 10 seconds faster than Porsche, which is the King of the Ring and has long been beaten by Lexus out of nowhere with the LFA, that's part of what happens when you develop a car at the Nurburgring, but they are not alone in development .
Nurburgring cars, that's amazing and I'm honestly not surprised in the least to drive this car. The Nurburgring Edition comes with some cool front tricks, as well as a stationary rear wing for more downforce, quicker shifts to different wheels, but other than that. It's pretty much the same car overall. I am absolutely in love with the Lexus LFA. It's a real pleasure and a dream to drive, so with that I'll let you listen to that v10 a few more times. I'll shut up and enjoy it. beauty, oh my goodness, what a privilege to be able to drive this car once again.
