my channel is officially a teenager if I were a person I would be in 8th grade soon going into high school and I was in high school when I started making YouTube videos so that's something to think about and as much as I wish I hadn't . I've thought about it a lot and not just from the perspective of "oh look at me, I'm so old," but it's only been over the last year that it's really started to sink in for a lot of us here as it genuinely has. we grew up together, you could have been 13 when you started watching my videos and now you're 26. you could have a family, you could have a child, children plural and things are going to change between the ages of 13 and 26 just as they do. for me from 18 to 31 years old.

So over a year ago I posted that video called I'm Done or I was like, you know

YouTube algorithm? I'm going to be posting Minecraft series on this channel because it's one that I've always done and in the last year since I've really realized that it's not just an ever evolving and changing YouTube algorithm that I'm fighting against, but it's really an evolving you, so when I posted that video there. There was so much positivity and support in the comments and so many people were watching that I think at the time I may have mistaken it for endorsements of hey yeah I'm here and I'm also going to watch those Minecraft series you're on I'm going to post now when I think about reality

it was over the years, we've put together a group here that is very nice and happy to encourage me when I make a decision because it's like, sure, yeah, if you want to publish.

Minecraft series on your channel because you did it in the past, hell yeah you should do that, but not necessarily because it's something you'll end up watching yourself and it's not malicious, right? It's not, oh yeah, I'm leaving. a comment telling you this is a great idea and then proceeding to not see it, it's just that people are friendly and encouraging even if their interests have changed and what really led me to realize is that there is this characteristic in the YouTube analysis that says There are other YouTube channels that you share a lot of your audience with and the entire first page for me is people who don't do Minecraft, they are channels that are more like the type of content that would relate to this type of Vlogs and Well obviously some people are watching Minecraft content on this channel.

It actually followed a very similar evolution to mine watching on YouTube that when I was 18 and when I started making YouTube videos, I was making the same type of content as well. looking at myself and nowadays the content on YouTube that I watch the most are videos that I can almost queue in the background and I can listen to the audio while I'm working out or while I'm doing some prep. for a series about Minecraft or something and that's what these videos are, these videos are something that you can listen to in the background while you're doing another task and it turns out that these are the videos that the most people are interested in watching. on this channel right now is the same thing I'm seeing myself and that's why it took me over 13 years to really internalize what is actually a very simple formula: that the best content I can post on this channel is the type of content which I would be interested in and look, don't get me wrong if the Minecraft series just blew it out of the water every episode.

I keep its status quo, no problem, but at this point I really enjoy doing that guy. of content in a live streaming format and it turns out we're almost at the point where those series will do better when uploaded to Captain Sparkles too, sometimes in absolute viewership numbers, but almost always when you take into account the cost What do i have to pay. put into editing to bring a series to this channel and going back to that formula, I think there are a couple of reasons why that is the case, on the one hand, if you are creating the type of content that you are also interested in seeing.

As a viewer, you probably know what you want to see in that content and can improve it, and on the other hand, maybe it's a unique situation for us, but it seems like, as I was saying, our interests in the content we watch have evolved from similarly over the years, and to be completely clear, I'm not the one saying, "I'm not going to make Minecraft videos anymore," I just want to be selective with ideas and give it a try. to find a way to put together a video that I'd be more interested in watching myself rather than saying oh, I haven't uploaded it in a couple of days.

I'd better put something together real quick, like the

next

episode of the series, you know, but at the same time, there's a desire to make more informative videos about current events because, like I said, that's the kind of content I watch or should say I listen more these days, but I find myself having a hard time finding that line between the news and the current event or something like gossip drama and gossip drama gets a lot of attention, obviously, and sometimes I find, you know, that I have ideas about maybe something that is more related to the Creator drama, but I don't want to talk about that because I don't want to seem like you are devaluing maybe the more informative content or God, what I would absolutely hate is to give an opinion that is based in incomplete information, from just information to I found and said something wrong that, as a result, made someone's life more difficult and I didn't do it right and that scares me and that's why I've always tended to stay more on you know, like YouTube lawsuits and stuff like that because even if something new

comes

out, I don't like to hurt someone directly and I could correct it later without it being a big deal, whereas if I said something and I said oh that -And-then I did something bad and that makes people think badly of them and I was wrong, that would hurt me.

Another reason for staying away from covering dramas is that in the last month or two I've done something bad. I have been trying to establish a plan or a foundation to start a business that I hope in the future can become something that will outlive me, obviously it is a very lofty ambition but I have learned a lot over the last 13 or so years. doing this and I think those lessons are something that I can apply quite well to a yet to be revealed business idea where I can really provide value to people and I have learned by doing things like Fortress Fury and developing games that create a product whose goal is attract a mass audience, market it and say: Hey guys, download my new game, it's a very difficult thing, I don't know if I'm very good at doing something like what I want. doing is something much smaller but that provides huge amounts of value to people and maintains more of that personal one-on-one relationship as opposed to trying to create something with Mass Appeal and that's something that I think I'm much better at and obviously a part of.

From that, if you want, you have to maintain a reputation that allows you to do something like that, try to stay away from being the guy who covers dramas on YouTube. That's probably a big part of it. You know, when it

comes

to doing something like game development, you just don't know that you could develop the most technical Marvel game and it might never attract the right people, people might just not be interested and you're like God, I thought. We did everything right at least in the case of what I'm trying to do, it's something where I have a lot of control over whether it can be successful or not based on how well I put it together, although I have to say there are a couple of things.

Projects that I am a part of and that you will hear about in the coming months that are more like Fortress Fury. Hey guys, this is what I'm working on and you should check it out if you're interested, but I'm not the founder of any of those projects, so God forbid it didn't work out, it doesn't reflect that much. I guess it doesn't feel like a blow to me personally, whereas when it comes to something I'm starting on my own, that's why I'm taking this other kind of smaller approach.
