Westworld Season 2 Ending Explained

Westworld Season 2 Ending Explained
hey everyone west world had its

season

finale last night and we're gonna talk about what happened and what all of this means for

season

three and especially we're gonna break down that weird post credit scene with William first of all let's talk about the biblical metaphors because there are a lot especially from the Book of Revelations the Forge is buried deep underground and the red lighting and bubbling pools give it the appearance of Hell they refer to the guest data stored there as souls four million souls all are lost so it's fitting that the show centers the guests who visit so much suffering on the host or trapped here also the name Forge implies something hot our modern concept of Hell stems from the Greek god Vulcan got a fire whose symbol as a blacksmith's hammer Vulcan is also the source of the word volcano and the forge definitely looks like the inside of a James Bond volcano base also there's this symbol two interlocking hexagons that look like links in a chain this symbol has appeared several times this

season

it was in Emily's journal it was on the screen when Barnard accessed Abernathy's data and on the banners in Shogun world and if you've seen them anywhere else please let me know in the comments below and these symbols also appear a couple of times in this episode when Bernard is in the forges elevator my theory is that the six sides of the hexagon represent the six parks one of the links represents the host data that...

was stored in the cradle the other represents the data that the park has gathered about the guests these two links are joined inside the forge like a blacksmith forging a chain which again goes back to Vulcan and the imagery of hell since the forge was built to resurrect humans it reminded me of this line one fine day perhaps female she'll even resurrect the dead call forth Nazareth from this cave ford is referencing the biblical figure Lazarus who was dead and buried in his tomb until Jesus resurrected him and here's a neat little Easter egg when Ford said this he knew that the delos corporation was trying to resurrect James Delos and the Delos was being kept in a cave and that some day Delos could be resurrected and walk out of that cave anyways more Book of Revelations references remember Clementine was reprogrammed with Maeve's ability to access the hosts Wi-Fi mesh network and make them fight so she's become a brain of death she rides to the doorway on a pale horse looking rather peckish herself this is a reference to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the fourth rider who wrote on a pale horse whose name was death who needs four horsemen one on touches of hi Clementine arrives it makes the other host start slaughtering each other and preventing them from entering the promised land and there's another passage in Revelation that says when Satan was cast down to the lake of fire one-third of the stars were wiped from the sky and cast down with him...

now remember in the future timeline as they were cleaning up the drowned host one technician said this what's really unsettling is what's in about a third of them what's that nothing they've been wiped more like their virgin like they never held data to begin with this is implying that they're all pure or virgin because these hosts have been cleared of their sins this is a reference to biblical baptism where believers shed their sin so they can enter a kind of promised land a valley beyond if you will this also explains why the credits added imagery of water the hosts have to pass through water to become pure and free the end credits song codex by Radiohead is a sly nod to this theme a few of the lyrics are no one gets hurt you've done nothing wrong jump off the end the waters clear and innocent and speaking of the credits now we know why this shot was at it right so anyways when Satan was cast down in the lake of fire one-third of the stars were sent down with him and

Westworld

one-third of the hosts make it through the doorway and their consciousnesses are uploaded to a cloud that's kept in the forge which looks like a lake of fire the Satan in this metaphor the ruler of Hell is Delores Satan was once called Lucifer Morningstar the most favored among the creators angels just like Delores was most favored by Arnold in the end Satan rebelled against the creator and took 1/3 of the host with him in the same way Delores now opposes Bernard old and...

has access to the third of the hosts that escaped so that brings us to where the hosts end up at the end of the

season

Delores and Bernard escaped to Arnold's house the one that we saw metaphorically unfinished in an episode - flashback it's likely that Ford set this up for them as a kind of safe haven Delores has rebuilt her original body and seems to be controlling Hales body as well and this has major implications for the next

season

in futureworld the sequel to the original

Westworld

film world leaders are slowly being replaced by clones and that looks like it's where West world has headed Dolores is in a prime spot to start replicating all of the humans that were kept in the forge remember hail slash Dolores escapes the island with five different pearls and these are essentially the host brains we know that one was Bernard two of them were probably Teddy and Peter Abernathy her father Abernathy has the library of guest data stored on his drive now Dolores can replicate all of these rich important people and slowly start to infiltrate the world's power structures she also has access to all of the hosts that entered the promised land and this is where she becomes sort of the devil figure he the hosts have entered paradise the Loris will probably bring them back down to earth to fight her holy war against the humans but what about the other hosts like Maeve one of the text says that corporate wants to salvage this mess so start trying to rebuild some of the...
hosts remember Delos has no idea that the hosts were gaining sentience they think that Ford made all of the robots repelled out of spite for his forced retirement so it wouldn't surprise me at all if the parks resumed business and the host went right back into their loops Felix and Sylvester the least likeable and most unkillable characters on the show will probably preserve Mays consciousness meaning that all of this will start back up again but now the big question what was happening with that post-credit scene all

season

long Williams been playing Ford's games searching for the door he does indeed walk through a door and several of them in fact but none of them are the door that the host passed through in the end he meets a host version of his daughter Emily who leads him into a white room seemingly condemned to the same fate as James delos so what's going on is he a host or is this all been a simulation how can William be on the beach if he's also down on the forge well I think this scene is another time job far far far into the future and that he's being made in mortal as much like James tellus killing his daughter was Williams cornerstone so his simulation involves reliving the days after the park rebellion again and again and again to see if he makes the same choices as the original William so does that mean this whole

season

s been a simulation well yes and no if you ask me everything we've seen in this

season

actually happened to William and we...
could have been watching Williams simulation of the events at certain points it actually really doesn't matter so in host Emily asked him so what were you looking for he replies no system can tell me who I am I have a choice and here we are but according to Ford the forge humans have never had free will we're all programmed with one directive survival and this way the hosts have always been more free than the guests they can adapt and change but we humans cannot and yet here's William he's struggling to show that he's his own man but trapped inside a loop edie Harris doesn't actually need to return for

season

three because the characters has his comeuppance he's trapped in a literal hell reliving the worst week of his life the title of this episode is the passenger this refers to human consciousness which is forced to piggyback on the desires of the human body and so it can never truly be free but it can also refer to William now he's trapped riding in a virtual loop struggling to maintain the control that he never had to begin with as symbolized by his wife's last words to him to keep pret

ending

you're not gonna remember me or so we're most likely going to see a time jump in

season

three probably several years or decades most of the human characters were killed off on this episode except for Luke Hemsworth Stubbs who actually might have been a host all along yes I just stick to the role forgave me but what do you think what are...
your

season
