watchOS 6: Top Features & Changes for Apple Watch!
how's it going everybody this is Jeff Benjamin with nine-to-five Mack in this video we're going to take a look at the top

watch

OS six

features

and folks this one's a doozy because there are so many new

features

coming to your

Apple

watch

that you don't want to miss this thanks to our friends over at mono ware for sponsoring 905 Mac on YouTube something you may have noticed from

Apple

's

Apple

watch

series 5 event is that there were no new leather bands released but that's ok because that's where mono wear comes in they make bands like this one the leather deployment pant or if you're looking for something a little more classic there's the classic leather band and these bands come in a variety of colors and of course are comprised of genuine leather now if you really want to stand out there's the Saffiano leather band which is strikingly beautiful

features

a slim profile and it all comes together thanks to an elegant butterfly clasp and there's also the contemporary leather cuff with a slim profile and luxurious green leather click the link in the description to visit model where now ok

Apple

watch

fans this is what you've been waiting for 7 new

watch

faces included in

watch

OS 6 including this one right here which was revealed on stage at

Apple

's iPhone 11 and

Apple

watch

series 5 event this is meridian and meridian has two different dials you can switch between a white and a black dial and it also has four complications...
watchos 6 top features changes for apple watch
right they're in a diamond-shaped pattern right in the middle of the interface and you can of course change the colors of those complications you can switch between a multicolor and individual colors if you choose to do so now of course you can go in and alter the complications that are displayed I actually like disabling some of the complications on the Meridian

watch

face I think it looks good I think the

watch

face can kind of stand on its own without all the complications there so I'm just disabling these these two don't tell anybody huh but that's how I'm gonna have it right there so I like that look I think it looks good what do you guys think let me know now

Apple

's new California

watch

face is the first of its kind on an

Apple

watch

it mixes both Roman and Arabic numerals so this is a unique look for the

Apple

watch

it's a full screen

watch

face as you can see there so it takes up that entire display you can change the numerals that are displayed you can switch between peels Roman California Arabic Arabic Indyk or David auguri yeah I had to look that up how to pronounce that one but whichever numerals you choose I think it looks good especially with that blue dial I really like that blue dial but of course you can change that dial as well so we're going to swipe over here you can alter between fullscreen and circular so circular is going to give you more complications whereas with the fullscreen

watch

face you're limited to just a...
watchos 6 top features changes for apple watch
couple of complications so we're going to scroll through these colors you see various color options here but I definitely think I prefer the the solid

watch

faces especially what the blue I think the blue looks the best so with the circular dial you get access to five complications four in the corners one in the middle let's switch back to full screen and of course that limits you a bit as far as how many complications you can display on screen at once the new modular compact

watch

face is a different take on the traditional modular face and I think this one's going to be really popular it comes with either an analog or digital dial so you can choose between those two you can choose between a light or dark multicolor interface or just choose a single color interface with the dark dial see that right there but I think I like the dark dial with the multicolor and then of course you have access to those three complications with the large complication at the bottom of the interface in traditional modular style no doubt this will be extremely popular with

watch

OS 6 users the solar doll is an extremely impressive

watch

face that tracks the position of the Sun and its elevation in the blue of the DAO also represents the sun's effect on the color of the sky where you currently are residing so turning the crown traces the sun's arc across the entire day that 24-hour period now obviously with the

watch

face of this type you're not gonna have any sort of color...
watchos 6 top features changes for apple watch
customization options but I think that blue is beautiful I think it really pops on that

Apple

watch

display and because it is a circular dial you get access to a lot of complications on screen at once so we're gonna go ahead and go in and customize so the first customization is choosing between the dial type so you have an analog or digital dial you can choose from all right so let's swipe over and the final customization is with the complications on the edges I wouldn't use solar Dao full-time but it's definitely a

watch

face I plan on using on a regular basis the next new

watch

OS 6

watch

face is gradient and there are actually three different gradients you can choose from they all move in different ways of course you can choose and alter the colors here so all sorts of colors are available to you but the really cool thing is that it

features

both a circular and a full-screen gradient and each style type has three different ingredients to choose from so you can choose from this one that one or that one I went too fast so let's let's try it over let's start over so you have this one right here this one right here and then this one right here and they all move differently in accordance with the time so I'm gonna show you that in a second but you could see you can switch between circular and fullscreen if you choose full screen you cannot choose any complication so keep that in mind that's sort of a downside of the full-screen gradient but...
that's okay it looks that good I don't think you don't want complication so you see that first one you could see the second hand moving with the gradient let's go ahead and choose the next one here and this next gradient corresponds to the position of the minute-hand so you're really not gonna see it move not not you know not quickly obviously unless we stayed here for the next you know the next hour you would see it move a lot but we're not gonna do that I'm not going to do that to you folks I promise but you can see it lines up with the minute hand alright so then the final one includes gradients for all three movements so you see you second hand which is moving you see your minute hand and you see your hour alright so the next

watch

face is numerals duo and this face displays large numbers in a font either Arabic Arabic Indyk or Devanagari I said it again specifically for the

Apple

watch

has been designed looks good but there are some customization options you can choose different styles so you can choose a fill cell a hybrid style or an outline style depends on what you like alright so that's pretty much it of course you can alter the colors as well I think that one looks good now I want to go back let's go back no no no no wrong run away let's go this way there we go one more passed it up there we go that looks excellent I think that one is awesome look and then there is also numerals mono which is a similar face but there are some...
subtle differences between this in numerals duo obviously mono meaning just displaying the our own screen instead of the hour and minutes but there's also additional numerals of course there's Arabic Arabic Indic Devanagari and roman numerals that is different so if you're a fan of Roman numerals you definitely want to choose numerals mono now like numerals duo you do have different styles so you can choose field or outline but it lacks the hybrid style from numerals duo and you can change your color as well hmm I think I like that purple what do you guys think so let's exit out the customize interface and let's see how it actually looks there we go it's 11 o'clock past my bedtime alright let's talk about complications there are a lot of new complications we're just going to talk about two initially because these two aren't necessarily tied to an application or a new application that is so the first one is a cellular complication which shows you your cellular signal strength and when you tap it it takes you directly to the cellular toggle in your Settings app now the next one I guess technically is tied to an existing app the weather app but you now have a rain complication and this will tell you the current chance of rain at a glance in your particular area so if you tap that though it'll take you to the wider view so you can see your rain chances throughout the day we'll look at some additional complications and

watch

a West 6...
a little bit later but now let's talk about arguably my favorite new feature in

watch

OS 6 enhanced series so you can ask Siri pretty much any question it'll go out to the web and search for the answer and this is a good way to not only get the search results but also just to browse the web so if you tap open page on one of your results it'll take you to the website for that result and you can read it just like you would any other webpage you know obviously it's on your wrist it's going to be a little bit dumb down so you don't expect a full rich desktop class experience but nonetheless is still really impressive to be able to read an article on your wrist just like that and even has Twitter embeds and you can tap on links it's actually pretty good by the way Electric is an awesome website if you're if you're into green energy electric cars electric bikes Electric skateboards make sure you check those guys out there really really doing an awesome job over there so I really enjoy using enhance Siri to just query Siri about whatever I'm thinking about at the time like which gaming console should I buy right now well it can find out just by doing a search but it doesn't stop there of course you can ask Siri hey what song is playing right now I like that song go ahead and tell me and there we go there's the song and you just with one tap can add that song to your library huh now that I think about it maybe the App Store is my...
favorite new feature because that is a big feature finally on the

Apple

watch

you have a standalone app store that isn't tied to your iPhone you can actually go out to the App Store browse the app store you have editorial content here not really editorial content but you know suggestions and things of that nature you have it here and then you can download apps just with the tap like that I mean like that there you go you can also take advantage of the search option at the top of the App Store so you tap that you can search with dictation or scribble there's also trending searches so I'm gonna use dictation because that's a little bit easier I'm just gonna say hey search for Tesla and it pulls up all the apps related to Tesla and then I can download whichever one I want to download so remote for Tesla just tap the download button it starts the download directly to the

Apple

watch

I can even do it over cellular if I wanted to but folks you don't even have to be in the App Store you can search via Siri from anywhere just say hey search for this app and it searches right there for Nano for reddit so you can just download that with the tap that's really powerful alright so the new reminders app obviously iOS 13 got a brand new reminders app that is absolutely fantastic so of course the

Apple

watch

had to modify some things to keep up with its iOS counterparts you don't get the full reminders app experience here but you do get a miniaturised...
experience so you can obviously go in complete reminders you can add reminders to your various lists and that's pretty much it for the most part but you get all your smart lists you have those smart lists the schedule your flagged all that right at the top and then you have your individual list below that and that's really all you need on your wrist right what do you guys think about the reminders app let me know down below in the comment section are you planning on using this as your full-time reminders app or do you still use the third-party application like things or something like that let me know so I'm going to add a reminder to my list using dictation so I'll say review

apple

arcade and then tap Done and it adds it to my list so you have to find my app on iOS 13 and you have the sort of companion app here on

watch

iOS 6 you can use to find my app to keep up with your folks not a lot really - this app but that's to be expected of course you can share your location from it but that's about it all right so here's something that we have been like why why are we just now getting a calculator app on our

Apple

watch

it should have been there from day one am i right but we do have it now so I guess we should be thankful so you could use this obviously it's a basic calculator not really in-depth it's not a scientific calculator or anything like that but you can tap the tips button and calculate tips for multiple people so I'm gonna...
I'm gonna be generous right here let's go 25 percent and I'm not paying this whole bill you don't have to pay up - so let's make it to people so there we go so you can see how much each individual pays with that tip added on that's pretty handy but if you don't want to use tips you can also switch over to percentage by force pressing like that and switch to the percentage just like that super simple super easy all right so now let's talk about the complication for the calculator app it's a very simple one it's simply a shortcut this calculator so you just tap it like that and you get right to your calculator app and there is also for the very first time a voice memos app another duh like why are we just now getting this but I'm happy I'm happy have it now so you can use this to one tap record which is super cool so I'm recording right there and just go to say something all right so I want to stop the recording I'm gonna let you hear this let you hear this recording all right we running back you can't say I don't try right all right so if you want to delete that voice memo just tap the ellipsis you can tap delete but here's something really cool about the voice memos app you're not limited to just the recordings you make on your local device but if you force press you can actually switch over from

watch

recordings to all recordings and that's gonna pull in your recordings from iCloud that sync across...
your devices so you can listen to all those as well there's a new noise app in

watch

OS six that will help you maintain good hearing health so

Apple

watch

can check some levels around you and alert you whenever they may affect your hearing so this is done using the microphone it's not gonna save any of this data it's not gonna put it in the cloud or anything like that you simply enable it and it's going to right there measure noise levels on the fly so we're okay right now if it's green you're good but what we're really concerned with is really loud sound so if it gets loud you know 80 decibels 90 decibels 100 decibels are higher that's when you need to be aware so this can help you do that so I'm gonna make a really loud say I'm just gonna yell out there we go 94 decibels it's the sense it's loud it alerts you what you're really concerned about though is sustained loudness so that's what can really damage your hearing if you're just in environment maybe you're not even aware of it maybe you're running like a leaf blower or weed eater you're not wearing hearing protection this can help you and there's also a complication that goes along with it that provides you with real-time noise data so really like if you're working in a loud environment or you're working with power tools this can really help you to understand how that might be affecting your hearing and also new feature for

watch

is...
6:00 another new app is the audiobooks app and it

features

a very familiar inner similar to that of the the podcast interface or the music interface so you can play back all your favorite audiobooks from the iBook store no it's not iBooks see more from the bookstore of the

Apple

bookstore you can jump directly between chapters and there's even a complication so you can see your progress through each chapter if you tap on that takes you right to your book now there's also a cycle tracking app for tracking minstrel cycles in reproductive health so if you scroll down here you get all that data information there's also a complication that goes with it as well and that complication is simply a link you just tap on that to get right to the cycle tracking app just like that and

watch

out what six you'll find a new standalone Now Playing app it has a complication there as you can see just tap on that and here's my nail plane you can see it's playing from my iphone here but the really cool thing is you can view all of your devices just like in control center on your iPhone it allows you to view all your devices including your home pods so I can go in tap on a home pod and actually control the music directly on my home pod right there from the now playing application and the great thing is that you can quickly switch between your devices so once I'm done controlling my home pod I can go back and say hey I'm gonna switch back to my iPhone if I want to...
do that so there's my iPhone still playing my book so I can resume my book just like that very nice there are a few noteworthy music app enhancements to talk about so now when you go into your library and view an album you can actually tap on that album and view all the songs it's not going to automatically start to play that album or prompt you to connect to air pods but you can view the songs first before it actually prompts you that's really nice so you can see that nice album art at the top as well so I can tap a song to start playing it just like that individually you could do the same thing with playlists as well so now I can just go into an individual playlist it'll show me the album artwork for that playlist and I could tap on an individual song within that playlist you'll find a few maps app enhancements as well so you have favorites and then you also find collections and these collections have been set up on my iOS 13 device and they include groups of different locations that I wish to share with others and you'll be happy to know that an emoji stickers can be found within

watch

OS 6 as well so I can go in to the emoji keyboard scroll down to find my favorite in emoji character and then load all the stickers up like that and simply tap on one of my favorite stickers like that to send it to a recipient that giraffe is hilarious also you can use your Nemo G and your reasons as well and share that you'll find a new dedicated privacy section...
in the Settings app so if we go there scroll down to privacy and then you can manage permissions for all sorts of things like location services contacts calendars reminders Bluetooth microphone health home kit motion and fitness and you'll also find analytics now here's a feature that I feel could fly under the radar but it's really cool to have this in

watch

OS 6 if you go to Bluetooth in settings you can nail toggle Bluetooth off directly from your

Apple

watch

previously you couldn't do that so this allows you for instance if you want to run solely on your cellular connection you don't want to connect to your paired iPhone you just simply toggle Bluetooth off and then you will see a disconnect from your parrot I phone I'm gonna go ahead and disable Wi-Fi as well and what that's going to do is gonna force me to go on cellular she disconnected so it's gonna force me to have a cellular connection now there you go so now I'm on cellular not connect it to my paired iPhone or Wi-Fi and

watch

OS 6 if you to finger touch the display like this that happens yeah it's beats the time to you now if you go to settings and you go to clock you're gonna be able to customize how this works so you'll see the speak time feature you can toggle that on or off you can also control with silent mode and what that's going to do basically it's going to give you taptic feedback so taptic time and chimes now i'm to configure taptic time you...
simply tap where it says tap date/time so when you're in silent mode instead of speaking the time out loud we'll tap you using one of the methods here that you can configure and tell you the time in a very subtle way without you having to look at your

watch

you're just basically it's almost like well there's Morse code right there it's actually kind of communicating with you inaudibly so that's really cool if you want to be subtle you don't want to look at the time and be rude to somebody use taptic time instead now

watch

OS six also

features

a new hourly chimes option that you can enable via settings clock so if we just flip the switch and then tap on sounds we can choose between bells and birds and let you hear how this sounds so these sounds will play only our now another first for the

Apple

watch

in

watch

OS 6 is the ability to facilitate software updates directly from the

Apple

watch

itself make sense now that we have a standalone app store as well you'll also notice a new feature in the Settings General section if you go down to wake screen you'll see toggles for resume to last session app so you see toggles for audiobooks Maps music Nell plane and basically what these allow you to do is to automatically resume these apps that are enabled whenever that session is active so let me show you how this works here so for instance if I'm listening to the music app that's an active session whenever I awake my

watch

the music app...
will be displayed instead of the

watch

face so let me show you I'm gonna make sure I'm connected to my power beats Pro so that I have that active session going alright so I am connected then I'm gonna put my

watch

to sleep and then I'm gonna wake it up and guess what's gonna happen it's gonna go right back to that music app because it's an active app and I had it enabled but

watch

what happens now that the music app is no longer an active session I've disconnected my power beats Pro wake it up it goes back to the

watch

face and I thought this was a cool feature so I wanted to include it you can now enable screenshots directly from the

Apple

watch

itself instead of having to rely on the companion app on your iPhone so just go to Settings General screenshots and enable screenshots and they'll you can take as many screenshots as you want I said screenshots a lot didn't I and then finally we're moving over to the iPhone now you'll see a new activity trends tab at the bottom of the activity app now of course daily metrics that you accumulate from your

Apple

watch

are important but activity trends allows you to sort of pull back and see the bigger picture so you can see how you're really doing over a longer period of time so it will display these move arrows that allow you to get a better look at how you're really doing so you can see the movie arrows some of them going up some of them going down some you want to pay more...
attention to maybe address some concerns that allows you to do so so you can see trends for the past calendar year and then you can also see your daily averages as well this is super nice to have this data at your fingertips but it doesn't stop with distance you also have your exercise which mine is just put that I don't wear my have a

watch

all the time let me just say that so I don't look pathetic here but for someone who does wear their

Apple

watch

all the time this will provide you with some insightful data so ladies and gentlemen that has been a look at the top
