Reviewing WAVE 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass

Mar 29, 2024
Well, many of you are probably already aware of this, but no Nintendo revealed the Mario Kart Court

course

booster

pass

. He did it like three months ago or something like that. I can't, I think it was like that. Don't know. Remember and I have some thoughts on that, so during the last Nintendo Direct we had, I think it was the last one that Nintendo talked about how they were going to reveal 48 new tracks over the next two years. for

mario

owners, which is like half of the switch user base and i'm not going to lie, i was really excited about that, here's a picture of my reaction, uh, during that and nintendo just released the first

wave

of clues, so there were eight clues in the um, I have my switch here for reference because I knew I was going to forget it and the Golden Dash cup and the Lucky Cat cup, so let's go through the clues real quick, one by one, the Paris seafront or the seafront, I don't know. which one is correct, I actually really like how they changed the track at the end, so the first two laps throughout here, by the way, my wife really likes this track because she likes Paris and I am glad that Nintendo has done this so now I don't have to take it to France, so the first two laps on this Paris boardwalk track are basically exactly the same and then on the third lap they do something really creative where it turns to Turn right at this intersection and make a kind of turn and do the trip in reverse.

I don't know why I'm still holding this up, which I thought was actually pretty creative. In fact, I liked it a lot. I love it too. coloring in this track is very much like it's set at sunset which is bright and beautiful. This track is actually very fun. I wasn't a big fan of it at first, I don't really know why something happened. You're not clicking with me maybe it's because I kept running into the walls uh the toad circuit still sucks. Choco Mountain is interesting. Obviously I have a huge emotional attachment to this game. I grew up playing the game 64.

More Interesting Facts About,

reviewing wave 1 of the mario kart 8 deluxe booster course pass...

I also grew up playing the DS game. The game to this day is my favorite Mario Kart game mainly because of the mission modes, so while I quite like this version, I actually remember playing this on tour, like one time I played on tour during a day or two when it was the first time. came out and then I completely forgot about it. I don't think I like it any more than the original and it's because there's a bit more open space, it doesn't feel as claustrophobic or as difficult, so I feel like I'm moving quickly around the track, without any problems and basically going around people , and I also don't like how they removed the section you can, which will allow you to fall off the mountain and then basically get stuck too far behind, I feel like it makes the track too easy, but I like some of the inclusions here like, um , I like how they added some gross variety with the cave, that music, that music is still rocking.

Well, now I'm going to talk about Coconut Mall. If you're an avid Mario Kart Wii player like I was in the past, you'll notice that this

course

feels a little sterile. Could you say that it feels like there's less liveliness in here this mall doesn't seem to be as populated as in the Wii version, there's constantly me throughout the small version, it just felt more lively and exciting to be there, whereas in this version is like you have some yoshis and some timids. guys in the end that don't move in the car because I guess gas costs too much nowadays, but I don't know, there's something about it that every time I played it I was like this cat, this doesn't feel as exciting as it used to be , I don't think it's because I'm old now.

I think it's like the track design is exactly the same, but there just doesn't seem to be as much heart to it. What I did notice is that I actually saw a comparison of the two versions of the Wii in this version and one thing I noticed is that the coconut mall on the switch feels a little smaller, not a lot, just a little bit . I just noticed that. like the slide at the end, that length of the track doesn't really seem that big and then at the beginning, like the walk to the escalator, it doesn't seem like the track is as big as it was on the wii, so no Well, Now let's move on to the Lucky Cat cup, which I consider the better of the two cups we got.
I'm not too excited about the first drink if you don't know, so the first song here is Tokyo Blur, which is more like uh Tokyo blur right after this course because I can't begin to tell you that this track is a repeat fest like If I wasn't a big fan, there's just nothing like you just left. throughout and is extremely short, it feels like a track made for a very simplified Mario Kart game that was then ported over to something more complex like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is exactly what it is. I tried playing it on 200cc, which is BTW much better, so now to Shroom Ridge, I actually like this version a lot more than a DS version, it kind of feels better, I think it's just the way Mario Kart 8 Deluxe controls better than DS, I think the drift around the corners feels more like this, this type of dance just flows better than on the DS and I feel like overall this track fits Mario's control scheme better Kart 8 Deluxe and again.
Dude, that music is so good and now we get to Sky Garden, which is my favorite Mario Kart song and my favorite Super Circuit track. I don't know how to feel about this. Okay, so Sky Garden for uh

mario

. dlc is a good track, I really like this track, but it's not Sky Garden, this is Sky Garden, it's like a cruise light on top of a cloud. Now, this is a great track and I really like it, and again, like I said the seventeenth time. The music is kind of cool, but I'm a little upset that they changed the design of Sky Garden completely, yeah, sure you get a little here and there, like with the shortcut over here, and you know, like bouncing off these leaves, it's gentle.
It reminds me of some of the shortcuts, but this is pretty much a new track and honestly you know I'm okay with it, I don't hate it or anything, I think it's a great track, something I'm going to do . Note that here it's also like I didn't play Sky Garden as a kid for the song, but instead played it just so I could hear Sky Garden's music, so again, I'm not that bothered by that. I just wanted to mention that this is a good track that moves on Ninja Hideaway, it's really very good. I'd say this is easily the best track of the eight we get in this DLC pack.
This easily feels like the higher quality track, it definitely feels better. on par with other tracks like dlc we got a long time ago and how was that in 2015 2016 when we got the original mario kart 8 dlc packs. oh my god it's been so long ago this one has more I would say. maneuverability and has the closest elevation changes. This is a really exciting track. I like it a lot. If you told me this wasn't for Mario Kart Tour, I would absolutely believe you. You can basically have two completely different tracks on this one. a clue because once you finish the first lap you can stay on top the rest of the time.
This is great, friend. Now I just want to briefly comment on my thoughts on the DLC as a whole when I played them for the first time. It didn't really seem to affect me much, but then I went back and played some of the original Mario Kart 8 tracks and you really feel the difference between them, so I'm not one of the people who likes it. Annoyed by the graphics, I know there's all this talk online from people who are really upset comparing the single stage grass to the grass and toad circuit and although, yes, this obviously looks worse than that, I'm actually not so upset about racing.
Games are always great graphical showcases for a console and I think to be true Mario Kart 8 was one of the best looking games on the Wii U, it looks fantastic on the Switch, this doesn't do it justice but it's also a game racing, so I don't really care, I'm not playing Mario Kart to Google graphics. I'm playing Mario Kart to run, scream, eat ships and have fun with my friends, but what I don't like. The thing about some of these trails is that they are too easy, so a lot of these trails look a lot like wider roads and feel a lot shorter and one thing I've noticed about these is that there isn't as much change in elevation that I feel.
You can really like to gain speed very quickly and I just realized that I had to re-record this part because my camera died and I realized that the other racers are definitely slower than on the normal tracks, like here there is a example where I'm running and I'm literally about to lap the last place and this isn't even the end of the second lap, like I'm close to making people laugh like in the original tracks, but like this this is a bit ridiculous and then with this clue. designing a lot of moments feels very slow like uh choco mountain for example like that cave I was talking about before, the way it's designed just feels very wide, it doesn't feel claustrophobic, it doesn't feel like you're doing there a lot of corners there because you can skid on that corner and go straight and it feels slow and then there's a toad circuit that sucks so I would say I'm really about 50 50 like on the tracks like there.
There are some songs on here that I love, like Ninja Hideaway, Sky Garden, and Paris Promenade, and I really like this version of Shroom Ridge, but man, I'll say it again, all this music is good, top-notch Mario, shh, like that that overall this DLC is Not bad, I would say if you bought the Dlc, don't feel too bad about your purchase, but I honestly think it will get a lot better. I think some of these tracks they were picking, you know, some of the nice soft ones. They're easy from the start, but I think they're going to get a lot bigger as you go, and honestly, for the price, I still think they're worth it.
You'll get 48 tracks, yes, a lot of them, like most. They will probably be ported from Mario Kart Tour and probably won't have antigravity, obviously I don't know for sure, I don't work at Nintendo, but there's no denying that there will be 48 additional tracks. In this game like that, that's a big deal and I mean, for 25 bucks, that's a really good asking price, even if only half of them end up being really good clues, dude, it's still a deal, I'm super happy that we can. We're getting more stuff for this game, and while I wouldn't say these tracks are of exactly the same standard as the original game's courses, I'd still say I'm glad their inclusion isn't here.
I'm honestly glad I got to experience them and everything because if they didn't bring them right to the switch then they'd be here rotting in mario kart tour because I'm not going to play that dumpster that fires you.
