and that she selflessly served her students and thanking her for her courage, grace and sacrifice, they say her family is committed to responsible gun ownership and keep firearms out of the reach of children, so many questions remain about how that gun got into the hands of a child this morning.

I am sorry that the family of the first grade boy accused of shooting his teacher, the female victims, were

shot

in the abdomen and all over. In hand, the nation was stunned earlier this month when Newport News Virginia police responded to Richneck Elementary School for a six-

year

-old boy who had opened fire. The family now reveals in a statement to ABC News that our son suffers from an acute disability and was under a care plan at school that included his mother or father attending school with him and accompanying him to class every day. the week of the shooting was the first week we were not in class with him, we will regret our absence on this day for the rest of our lives, police say first grader took legally purchased nine millimeter pistol from home by his mother and fired a bullet at 25-year-old Abigail Warner while she was teaching elementary school students, it felt like something out of a really bad nightmare.

Desiree Yvette's daughter was one of more than a dozen children in that classroom she always said it and for her to be shot, my daughter no longer feels safe and is afraid that the people she loves will get hurt. The family tells ABC News they have been cooperating with local and federal authorities, adding that the firearm our son accessed was insured. Police are still investigating how this six-year-old boy got the gun, and questions are mounting after school leaders told parents they received a tip that the student had a gun. I even searched his backpack, but I didn't find the firearm before his Werner was shot.

Terrified parents and faculty members expressed their frustrations at a recent school board meeting. I send my children to school and find myself praying to God that they return home safe and sound.
