factory

, like I said, when you think of a supercar, in your mind it's Ferrari, maybe Lamborghini or some of the other really popular cars out there, but when you look at the Ford GT, this is really a supercar and access to this

factory

is so secret that we had to get special permission from five or six different people and I'm so excited to let you take a look and come with me, come on, let's look at this.

It's a really special opportunity and I'm very honored to be here with Pierce from the Ford GT program and you have the coolest job under the sun every day, looking at supercars, it's a tough job, yeah, I'm sure all of you. I would like that because I would like that job too, so in this facility all the cars are built here, they are all handcrafted here. Yes, each car will be built at these Multimatic facilities in Canada. Right, this is really a great opportunity. I am very happy to have this opportunity to share it with you because getting one of these cars is already very difficult.

We can do it? Can we go back to the course? Go Go. This is our assembly floor. This is pretty impressive. We have nine different stations. We'll start here at station one and work in a horseshoe shape and finish at station nine on the other side. So how many cars are you building per day here? One car per day will leave. on the assembly line and we work like a train, one car moves one man, so all the components are shipped. Are you producing everything here? Most of the components are shipped and we are doing

assembly here on site, so we have At the nine different stations here, we will take out a bare chassis starting at station one and we will separate the rear subframe, put it on a subassembly, They will begin assembling the gas tank at station one.

We're going to put together the pedal box and some of the front suspension components, assemble the suspension in the rear, the brakes and start installing the rear wing as well and the power of its engine as we go through the corner. Let's place the wiring harness. We will begin to assemble part of the interior air conditioning. We will start working. We will do a test on the engine on the wiring harness. We'll make sure there's no pulse before putting it on. body cameras, we have a lot of steps that involve a lot of parts, so it's at this point at station six where we're going to do a

This is where most of the body panels start to work. get into the vehicle, so this is what makes the supercar a handmade supercar. Everything is made sure to be perfect. We are approaching station nine. This is where a vehicle will be virtually complete and ready to finish the line. The suit in your heart starts to work oh my god when can I drag one? I drive, I'm sure whoever receives the hood drives these vehicles feels the same, what a headache, fortunately we don't get the road test from here, which is made for five mechanics, either. whether on a test bench or a pig bone shaker, those road tests are done by the owner, it is a work of art, yes, every detail starts to take apart only small features of the headlight, they are gems, so here It is where the final inspection is carried out by the airport engineer.
They are going over the entire vehicle checking every little detail making sure it is accurate. I heard this vehicle is going to Buffalo, New York. I can't say right now, so it's actually researching and reviewing every piece and part. colors it is a complete quality check there are many small specks in every little space around the vehicle each panel must fit perfectly the headlights which must be perfect the interior making sure there is nothing wrong with the correct leather it is a general inspection make sure be perfect maybe catch ryan off guard here say peace lip okay that's the horn test yeah okay and not just a front cosmetic inspection it actually goes through a multimatic internal inspection before this like this that I will make everything perfect, this is the Heritage, this is a big reduction, it is only for one year.
Can you give us a little overview? This is quite exciting because the people who exist, what is the meaning of what I know and I know that you know, but what do we do? a quick summary of the meaning of 1966 Ward went to the mall and they want this to bring back the 50th anniversary with the number two, the silver stripes with nice colored gold wheels, the blue seat belts, they are trying to bring back the heritage , yes but this is the year Ford beat Ferrari built to be driven, best not to park them, drive them, there is no way you can really set them up, they will have all the necessary modifications done and then a final clean before placing them on a truck and handing them over to their new owner Wow, we're going to have to check all the janitor delivery, plus it's a pretty special process, yes, I see it, and it's the hand, hand build of this vehicle shows how special this vehicle is and that the port was able to produce. an incredible supercar again because they didn't know five and six, but I have to say if you look at it in the '60s, when Henry basically wanted to buy Ferrari and the disagreement arose in the racing team and the story goes that Henry and Enzo communicated non-verbally and Henry came out and said, you know, we're going to come back and we're going to kick their asses and for the first few years we don't finish a race the first year we don't win a race the second year and then the Ford engineers come in that moment Carol and Holman in a bad mood and the merry band of hot rodders and we come back and win one, two, three and sixty-six in that year Edsel was there with his father and fifty years.
He was later able to come back and enjoy that same first place victory from Bill Ford, Alena, Henry, Edsel and the entire Ford family. This is a big passion point for them and something they were very happy to share in the success of the engineering men and women and the racing teams made achievements in 2016, so what we hope to do is we are going to compete for four years and, as you understand racing in that series, you must have a production car while you compete. so we said we would race for four years like in the '60s with Carol and Holman Moody and all the Ford engineers who brought this to life in 66 67 68 and 69 we said we would race 16 17 18 19 we can produce one a day and produce for four years, so that's what we hope to produce, it will be much less than what the Ford GT O 506 was.
We made over 4,000 units of this car. This is a much more exclusive vehicle that reflects the heritage. and innovation and technology before it is able to produce you say the key word, can you tell us what it takes to be a lucky owner of one of these vehicles? I mean, how many realities do you think? If you think about it, you know that limited amount. and you know over ten thousand dealers around the world who would have the opportunity to do so. How could you assign this car in a way that reflects the passion and energy behind the vehicle?
So what we did was an application process that we took into account. more than eleven thousand registered and 6,500 complete applications, so that was where the group could be selected. If you can imagine, in sixty to five hundred of a daily production selection, there were minuscule differences between the people who were selected and those who were not. but there was a common thread between them, if you think about it, from '66 to '69 we made about a hundred cars, of which 450 exist today, stealing a gas bank from one of the racing cars and I built my car in 2005 and Oh, it took me six.
We're more than 40 years from the '60s to do it, if it takes us another 50 years to make another show like the Ford GT, we need that car in front of the public and we need it in the hands of people who care. the vehicle, take it to the cars and cafes, not just the big shows and big Barrett-Jackson events, but also the local cars and Sunday coffee. Those people who love cars want to share the passion and energy they have in the vehicle. Those were the people we were looking for now we were looking for donors and GT if you looked at the application you could see the question.
It took some people over two hours to complete that request, which gave us the opportunity to look and see how we can accomplish it. innovation and passion and that technology into the future we want you to drive them we want you to share them you know, we can't see this car hermetically sealed in a ziplock bag in a vault that is not where this car was made if you think about Carroll Shelby and I know you know Carroll very well. Carroll in the Cobra, one of the most prized vehicles he has ever built. We had to drive it every year, it was a 15 million dollar car and he made us drive it.
He wanted them to drive those cars and he wants people. to experience that passion and energy and the men and women of Ford Performance and the entire Ford Motor Company want those consumers to drive and experience the vehicle and I have to say that keeping this a secret definitely managed to bring the calm out of the Detroit Auto Show. I was there, we had no idea what to expect, but you did a great job keeping this secret. That's the way to do it. Can you give us a small sample? Yeah, not only was it a secret to the general public, but you know.
Bill Ford invites employees and their families to the Auto Show for the practice presentation so they can come in and see what's coming out at the Auto Show so they can come and see it beforehand and when they made that part there scratch. All employees knew about it, so we kept it a secret not only from the general population but also from all employees, so that we could enjoy that moment effectively with everyone. The design studio team worked in the basement of the PDC, it did not have the electronic camera. codes for the cards to have access, you had to have one of the few keys that were available to give you access and that team worked after hours, not at that, they took care of their full time job and then they did it because of the Passion and energy generated by this project.
I just can't believe that so many people, employees, designers, engineers, nobody, nobody leaked it, that's it, that's impressive in itself, it's a point of passion, right, we knew how important it was to cause that shocking moment that you achieved. That I have, the men and women who worked on this show were just as passionate and energetic and wanted to see that aha moment not only for the employees but for the world well, you're like that too, you come from where we know each other from Shelby. American and Ford for many years, and making you understand, the guy couldn't affect a better person, thank you very much and the men and women who actually designed this car and are building it, who you saw today in the videos when you walk around.
Through the production facilities, those are the men and women who have made this vehicle, hopefully, one of those things that will continue for the next 50 years, so this is a pretty exciting procedure. View the order process. You saw the car at the factory. It was finally inspected and delivered to Buffalo, New York in a temperature of 18 degrees, but here is the final vehicle, this is chassis number 27, it is a legacy of the 14 cars of the one hundred and twenty-six vehicles that were built and yes , unfortunately it's here in Buffalo. It won't be driveable until spring, so it will live at the Buffalo Motor Car Museum and Pierce-arrow Museum until spring.
In the meantime, I'm excited to drive it. It's like the kid in the candy store if you're excited. about this vehicle and want to see the full review, it's coming in the spring and a review of the car, but in the meantime, breaking news on Lauren, fix all forms of social media, sign up for the car coach report on Lauren. Fix the communication and I'll sit in the car and dream of spring. Thanks so much for looking. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
