here, I just did it where we could survive while we moved and I knew I was going to be able to tackle it at some point and today is that day so I gave you a tour of what it looked like before, it wasn't horrible. I'm sure 95 of the

d, and that I don't have any spaces that are cluttered. and I'm just making sure we don't put things away that we're not using, so I'm trying to create an orderly life, so to speak, and trying to be really organized in this house and even though it's

extreme

ly overwhelming, I decided The only way to organize This closet properly was to start by taking everything out, so that's what I'm doing from time to time, I'm going to give the closet a good clean from top to bottom and then I'll work on organizing it and sorting out all the items that I took out, you'll be surprised how much I really got rid of my clothes.

Ernie did a great job of tidying up before packing and so did I, but I, as a woman, tend to hold out. to things that you know because I paid a certain amount of dollars for it or I'm going to get into it, you know, eventually, I might use it, you know all the excuses and I just went Savage that day and said yeah I haven't. I used it because most of these items were in storage for a year, if I haven't used them and I don't like them anymore because I took them out of the boxes then I'll just get rid of them and we'll start over so the only things I hanging in my closet were clothes that I actually wear and this is the second time I've done this in two years and it feels really good to do it, so let's move on. and clean out the closet, take everything out and then we'll give the closet a good cleaning. foreign la la okay foreign foreign foreign now that we have a clean space to work in I thought I'd go over some tips that might help you if you're someone like me who wants to get organized and wants to minimize the amount of stuff you have in your house, which I think is probably something that most people you know are always working on, we're always trying. to achieve the best organized home and you don't know, I don't know, I've never met anyone who has been perfect at it, but we can get as close to perfection as possible, that's why it's so important.

I'm going to share with you some tips that worked for me. I'm the type of person who gets easily overwhelmed by seeing clutter, so when I came back into the room and saw everything I was working with, I felt very overwhelmed, so I did it. I took a break after cleaning, went and sat down and organized my thoughts on exactly what I was going to do, so I decided to work in piles and sections in the room, so in the first pile I'm sitting. Below is the pile of, you know, all the clothes that I threw away and I'm going through all of them and I'm throwing everything out very quickly, I'm going through them very quickly and you know, but don't, you know, allow I have to be emotional about the item that I'm holding and I'm being very honest with myself about each item and so my first tip to you is to empty out the space that you're going to organize and

declutter

It allows you to see exactly everything you have as you go through all the items, you can make note of what you need to buy or how you want to organize the items, which is what I was doing that day. I knew I needed some. way to store sweaters I needed a way to store shoes, get them off the floor and have them more organized. I knew I was going to put sheets in the closet, they're sheets because we don't have a linen closet downstairs, um, so you know, I was going through everything and I was really thinking about what I needed so that when I put it back everything in the closet was going to be put back into a permanent home and then into a permanent solution, so it can be overwhelming. emptying out a space and seeing everything you have, but in a weird way it's also motivation because you can see the abundance of items that you're working with and that clutter, and it's very liberating when you empty out a closet or a drawer or a cabinet and just you put back in those areas exactly what you're actually going to wear or use and it's very free so my first piece of advice to you is to make sure you empty the space and give yourself time this this didn't happen in one day and you'll see a wardrobe change eventually it happened over several days because I finished this initial part and then the weekend came and I had family in town So I had to stop and deal with the family, but it also gave me time to breathe and get back to it with a clear mind and with a lot more motivation because it didn't seem so overwhelming afterwards. taking that break, so don't feel like you have to do it all in one day.

You know, if you're dealing with a large project, take some time to work on it and just make sure you don't leave anything in the gap. unless you have it organized the way you want and um and uh it's in its permanent home so I ordered some shoe organizers for the shoes on Amazon and they arrived and I hated them so I returned them and ended up buying the ones you guys You're going to see, so, I would do it, I refused. I lived with the room as it looked, you know, for a few days and I was okay with that because I knew that once it was done, it would be done forever.

You should know that I am not a person who understands the entire mechanism of our romance. Tip number two is when you go to put your clothes back in your closet. Try a color block you can do this for. wardrobe as a whole or you can do it in sections so you can have all the dress shirts in one area and sort them by color and then you can do all the polo shirts and do the same thing or you can just color block the entire wardrobe. all in one whatever works for you this helps with two things it helps you get ready so much easier it makes your day so much easier because you can find things easily and it also helps you when you put the clothes away you know exactly where they go oh Oh my god I'm going to forget how you made me a bad wreath package, but I'm fine, I'll let myself go.

I didn't live up to my standards, but he didn't come close to mine. Well, tip number three is that even if you have baskets or bins in your closet that already look organized, you'll be tempted to not go through them and just leave a mess behind. and put them back in the closet or area. I want to encourage you to check them out. I sorted out a whole basket of things because it was clean and organized. I was so tempted to just take that, put it back in the closet first of all. It didn't go with what I wanted to do there, but secondly, it was full of things I hadn't used in at least three years, so I ordered a whole basket to make it feel good, so I want to encourage you to do the same advice .

Number four is don't forget your shoes, sort your shoes if you have shoes that are on like the last leg of it. I have sandals that come from California, we wear sandals, we wear sandals 24/7, there I did at least and my sandals took a beating and I would. I took as many months as I could get them out and I had some in there that I had kept not knowing what it was, you know I'm going to end up in Tennessee where, um, yeah, I'm not going to need them, I'm not going to need them. until this summer or spring and um they were on their last leg, time to buy new ones, so I ordered my sandals.

I want to encourage you to do the same tip number five is when you go through your purses and purses um Don't return them whole. I have made this mistake for years. You know, I'm too lazy to check all the things there. I want to encourage you to check your wallets and purses. Not only did I sort through the clutter, sort out a wallet, a purse, woohoo, but I also put them all back in the closet empty and clean, so all of these things here were things that were in those bags and it was just because I was too lazy.

I know how to empty them when I change bags. Sometimes I just take the trash that's in a bag and you know, I take it out and then I put the things I want in it and then I take all the trash and put it in the bag. that I'm not using and I put it back in the closet, that's all, so I need to get into a better habit of that, but I want to encourage you not to put away your purses, your purses, your purses, your travel bags, whatever . It's just that it has stuff in it, don't put it back in your closet unless you've checked it and it's completely empty.

I have all our shoes and boots laid out. I have tomorrow. I have the organized organizer coming for the shoes, so he wanted to clean them up and put them away. That's an empty box. There are also containers for These things here and this has to be hung. I'm here with my sweaters, so I need to put them in a container that comes and then I have Ernie's hats organized in a basket that I'll put on the shelf. and on top of her clothes, but we've made good progress, that's rubbish, you just saw me organize my bags, oh my gosh, I need to get into a better habit that when I change bags it's just to completely organize them, um laundry, this it's behind the scenes here and um, I bought these, they don't seem to be working very well, um, I mean, they're definitely not going anywhere, but you know they do that, but I bought them because I didn't want to have them. more visual clutter other than what had to be up here, so I took all my bags out of their bags and between two of them and then the bags that came with my Coach bags are there and then all my weekend bags are there , so that's perfect, I have all this space here now very excited about it and then I finished all the clothes, this is Ernie's thing up to here.

I love these hangers, so you could, you see, you could have them up, you know? the clothes go like this or I use them to save space and I think they are perfect, so I love them and my clothes start here and continue to here and I love that everything in this closet that I use is organized. and everything I ordered I wasn't wearing, so I had a lot of these left over anyway. I'm not going to return them. I'll keep them because you know they'll be useful in other parts of the house so we have that but anyway this is where we are now and I love that it's clean and organized it's worth it totally worth the work thank you , thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, we are about to see the before and after of this closet and wow, what a transformation.
