I set out to travel to spillways I had never fished before. In my last two videos I went to spillways that looked very promising on Google Earth. Well, today's spillway is not the case, actually it is not like that. It looks great on Google Earth, but I've been surprised in the past, so we're going to take an hour and a half drive to

new spot and hopefully catch some fish.

I love these thresholds, they can't calm me down. the crossing is not a different picture, we made an hour and a half drive and got to the spillway and to be honest it doesn't look very good, it's much smaller than I expected and there's no water coming out at all, although the spillway doesn't looks great. I'm still going to try it now as far as bait goes. I brought some options. I have night crawlers. I've got a cooked chicken wing and a raw chicken thigh so I've got a decent little spread. I'm hoping to catch some fresh bait, let's get started.

The obvious bait to start with here is a night crawler, so let's go ahead and set one up. Oh my goodness, there are a lot of fish trapped in

little spillway. this is crazy, okay let's throw our bait down there, come on awesome, that didn't take long. Our first catch is a decent little green sunfish. It's been a while since I caught one of these, but they are a very attractive fish. In fact, I'm going to keep this guy to use as bait, even though this spillway is stagnant, there's plenty of life down there. I hope there are some sizable fish, let's go ahead and throw out the bait, oh there we go, an even bigger one. green bluegill, damn this guy looks so cool, as you guys know I like to set goals for fishing adventures and the first goal is always to catch a fish, now let's move on to goal number two which is to catch a fish of considerable size.

I don't know if we're going to catch one from this spillway. I'm going to give it a little more time than I think. Let's explore a little more. Well, I think it's time to explore a little more. I've got a decent amount of fresh bait, let's go ahead and let this guy go see you later, buddy. I started moving downstream and found something very promising on this rock: a partially eaten fish and I can't tell exactly what species. It is, but I can't say the fish was quite big, so there could be some big fish hiding in this stream.

I can't wait to go down the river. I've been following this stream for a lot longer than I'd like to admit and it doesn't look promising. I finally made it to where the

creek

runs under the interstate. It looks like this water here is relatively deep compared to the rest of the

creek

, so I'm going to try it here and see if there are any

fish. Well, upon further investigation, I don't see any fish in this water here, but I see water at the other end of this tunnel, so I think I might go through the tunnel under the interstate to try to find if there are any fish.
Living here I stopped to look at some satellite images and it looks like there is a hidden pond in the woods right here in front of me that looks like it might be promising, let's go ahead and take a look at it about a mile away. there. Let's go ahead and throw in a piece of this cut green sunfish. Yes, here we finally go. Finally I caught a fish, a small bluegill. I had to reduce my hook size.
They were biting me and I couldn't get sets of hooks. Now I know why all the fish that took my bait were these little bluegills. See you soon friend. It's taken a while, but we were finally able to catch our first fish in this hidden pond. That little bluegill. I've had the piece of sunfish cut out there the whole time and it hasn't been touched if we want to complete our goal of catching a big fish today I think it's time to cut our losses and go somewhere different, sometimes one place just doesn't work and that is an excellent example.
I probably spent too much time on it. I ventured quite far down that stream and in the end was unable to catch any fish of any considerable size. The spillway we are heading towards now I know has some giant fish. Hopefully we can catch some and we have. to the spillway I'm talking about, some of you may recognize this. I recently caught it for the first time. I caught a ton of crappie below the spillway, but I caught some absolute giants in the small creek coming from The Spill. Go ahead and venture downstream and try to catch more big fish.
Okay, I walked quite a bit along this stream and finally we came to a deep place. Let's go ahead and throw in a piece of this green sunfish. Something has to be there. wow oh my god oh my god big fish big fish big fish big fish holy cow holy cow holy cow oh my god this guy went crazy what a beast oh calm down dude oh easy oh my god you get this on the net oh in and out of the net damn I don't have a good place to catch this fish wow look at the size of this fin this guy is a monster yeah just under eight pounds 7.91 one of the

fins I've ever seen caught.

fins I've ever caught, but I have a feeling there are much bigger ones hiding beneath the surface. Oh, the fish just ate my bait. Come on, holy cow, did you see that? Oh my god, no way, oh please, damn, please, damn, please, damn, please, damn, that's a very attractive fish. I'm going to put this guy in the net, here we go, yeah, oh, I just caught a really. cool speckled gar what an amazing catch my personal best guard weighs in at just over seven pounds which is very close to a state record let's go ahead and get this guy's weight four and a half pounds not his personal best but I think this is the second biggest one I've ever landed, see you later, friend.
It really is surprising how many big fish live in this small stream. It's like nothing I've ever experienced. I'm shining so much. Okay, there is fire deep in my soul. I will rise like the Legends. I'm seeing evidence of a large fish hanging from this tree. Let's throw some bait there. I just picked up the bait. Foreign Fisher Fisher that has not been of considerable size. A small channel catfish. Oh, guys, it's something. on my other rod, oh he's stuck there, he's the street, oh come on, get out of there, we're bent over, oh my god, I can't believe I was able to get this guy out of the tree in the net, here we go, great fin, but he has some amazing spawning colors, his fins are bright blue, what an awesome fish, this is one of the coolest bowfins I've ever caught, see you later buddy, here are the setups I'm using to catch these fish.
I have two spinning rods on one of them. I'm using a weightless J hook with a piece of green sunfish and then on the other I'm using another J hook with a piece of green sunfish, but I'm suspending it. bait under a float both setups have proven successful today shadow of the Valley of the Gods in the grave I'll keep running running I'll go to my body oh my gosh, that was so cool here we go that was cool, I just caught this bowfin, oh my god, what a beast, this guy just inhaled the bait, what a fighter, oh, calm down dude, here we go, oh my god, it's another monster, it's another monster, holy smokes, look at the size of this fish, I can't .
Believe it right now, eight pounds, another giant bowfin, see you later buddy, what an absolutely wild day of fishing. We drove for hours, visited a new landfill, walked for miles through poison ivy infested forests, but in the end we completed our goal of catching something.
