how to start a chevy 350 on the engine stand / engine for the c10
Mar 28, 2024What's going on, guys? So I'm back with another video and today's video is going to be more or less showing you what I had to do to get a small block Chevy running on the
mount. So, with that being said, you already have your uh, your ground to the battery ground and then you'll have the positive battery cable going to the
properly, so let me show you.
engine
mount. So, with that being said, you already have your uh, your ground to the battery ground and then you'll have the positive battery cable going to the start
er motor and then this little redstart
er motor will be the one that will control your solenoid properly, like this that when this is like this in other In words, this is the red wire that goes to the ignition, when you go to turn on the ignition, it will throw juice into that coil that will turn the starter motor and start theengine
properly, so let me show you.Real quick, you see it flipped right there, so now you've got the positive on the ground, you've got the jumper wire and then you're going to need to run a fire wire up to your distributor, so there it is, look, that's where I hooked it up. is where it says battery and that also goes to the battery so if you're like me using an electric field pump the positive from that fuel pump is going to go with that wire that goes to the distributor so when you go to give it power it's going to turn on that fuel pump that sends gasoline to the carburetor and then it's going to blow fire to the distributor cap which is going to send fire to the spark plugs and it's going to work like this, you know, it's the opposite if it's already working and you have it like this and you want to turn it off, all you have to do is just disconnect these wires, disconnect it from the positive and it will prevent the fire from getting to the distributor, which will stop the spark plugs from throwing fire and it will turn off the engine, you know, and the reason why I do This is because I'm going to install this motor, it's a zz4 350 crate motor, I'm going to install it anyway.
In a friend of mine's truck, you know, he got an '80s model C10 and that's what this engine will go in. I have the transmission right there so the reason I did this was because I wanted to make sure it ran good and everything and there was no smoke leaks or knocks or anything like that that made me take it out. You know, once I've got it there, so that's what it'll be about. You know, that's how you get it. running as long as you have gas and then the wires got plugged like I said shoot the cap you need the starter cable to the solenoid the positive battery cable to the starter and then the ground knee everything is grounded , so it's going to get ready to go, it should turn on right now as we speak, you know, so let's see what it does, oh, yeah, yeah, there it is guys, it sounds healthy, it sounds loud, so that's it, now You know, I'll have to drink. rips it apart just to get it in the truck, you know, takes the heads off the headers and stuff like that, so I just have to find the converter canisters that house the canisters, plug it in and then it's ready to stab it in the truck.
You know, but anyway that's going to be it for this video guys, I'll see you in the next one. I'm leaving.
