What's inside a Tesla Engine?

Apr 08, 2024
Oops, turns out you can buy them on eBay. What you're looking at now is an actual

engine

from a Tesla Model S. That's right, a lot of people who have gas cars are a little intrigued by electric cars and like how they run and I've guessed four to five

tesla

how many oil changes I have had zero. I guess how many times I shift gear zero. Gasoline cars have all kinds of maintenance and things that you have to do with an electric car. I don't have to do that because it's basically a computer, the battery and then this motor here, this is

what

gives you that ridiculous speed that people get scared and afraid to drive an electric car.
what s inside a tesla engine
I feel so dangerous right now. We opened a Tesla battery before we bought this guy, we opened the Tesla tires and, uh, Lincoln had a crazy idea: open or take apart a Tesla motor, it looks very big and bulky with a lot of screws and that's something like that. Scary, this thing weighed 550 pounds when I bought it on eBay. They said, "Do you have a freight pickup place" and I was like, "Oh no, so we called our puma friend at Lux Auto Spa and he said yeah, go ahead and send it." to my house and you can take it apart there, so it's supposed to be functional and works from time to time, there's some kind of plug in here, so maybe there's some kind of liquid inside, I really don't know, look at all these screws. that have nice green lines it's like they're asking us, they're begging us to take it apart, let us know in the comments right now.

More Interesting Facts About,

what s inside a tesla engine...

Do you think we can really take this apart? How many

tesla

s? Have you taken the

engine

s apart in your lifetime and there isn't much on the internet about them from

what

little research we did or what we could find online? This is what we need to take them apart, so we'll see. Yeah, okay, let's do it here, I've got blue stuff, what the hell, look at this? We're spilling blue liquid out of the engine right there, what do you think is, you know, lubricant? That thing isn't slowing down, is it? changed, so should we catch that in a bucket or something like that inside a Tesla motor?
what s inside a tesla engine
The first thing we find is that there is a little bit of blue coolant, okay, I'm not going to lick it, don't lick the blue stuff, it smells like tuna. fish with the way it's tilted now I guess this whole section is full of looks oh more blue kool-aid oh what is there's a lot of coolant coming out of there so it must be some kind of coolant reservoir If you're doing ridiculous mode or something like that, you're going super fast, you gotta keep these engines cool, not just the batteries, and guessing what that is creates a little bit of separation or sometimes when we're not even in the car and the car is parked outside and it's like 105 degrees outside it's so loud yeah that could be the coolant running like it's running the coolant through it hey hunter what's up?
what s inside a tesla engine
Things are getting real here, I'm like a nascar. the pit crew changes those tires oh yeah, more blue stuff wow, that was cool oh there we go, nice little crew that's an important part of the tesla, I'd think oh yeah, yeah, I got it, yeah, I almost lost it, but I have it. that's a giant bearing oh this is right here there's quite a twist yeah there you have tesla driving should we worry about the high voltage signal no there's still power possibly absolutely we're about to find out we're going to take off this top part which is like the film matrix the tesla model motor warranty is void if the seal is broken oops uh oh if it comes off be careful oh my god that's the high voltage area that's the warranty right that's amazing right there wow that's complete computer this is inside the giant engine computer here that talks to the engine that makes everything go a lot of people have been saying lately that a lot of the electric car companies are three to five years behind where Tesla is currently and makes sense , this is a 2012 tesla model, we have cars coming out in 2020 from many of the big manufacturers.
I would be surprised if their technology was as advanced as what the tesla has in their old school engine, okay this is something really really interesting, we have the PCB board right there, it says high side, low side, whatever and then you see they're almost like little spark plugs that look like things, look how shiny they are, but when you touch them it's sticky, oh what is that? Is that? What is it? I don't know if it's toxic or not. We found the brains. There's a weird, sticky thing right there. Tons of printed circuit boards. This is probably one of the most advanced electronic motors you will find.
That brings us to today's sponsor, this is the Jimu robot from ub tech. If you want to get to this point, one day you need to learn Stem and you need to learn science and the different technologies, one day you will have the Stem knowledge and skills to be. capable of building something amazing like this this is the nebot 2.0 kit you can buy it exclusively at Apple whether you are in the Apple Store or on Apple Online just like the Tesla motor that we took apart there are gears inside this there are six different motors inside Not only can you play with it, but you can also build, code and learn with it through the free Jimu app.
You are not limited by what the robot looks like in the package you can actually carry. This apart reconfigures the motors and builds different creations just the way you want to do it, it's really cool, you can control the robot from the app, there are many different series of jimmy robots, mythical creatures, dragons, unicorns, it doesn't matter if you are 60 years old. years old or eight years old, anyone over eight years old can get any of the jimmy robots the sky is the limit thanks again to ubitech for sponsoring this video if you are interested in getting the jimu robot mibot 2.0 kit check out the link in the description we will take apart the rest of this tesla motor and go back to the motor we'll get to the actual motor part and the first step will be this is the complete inverter I guess that's what they call it with all the PCB boards and I think if we remove some of these screws Right here we could take it out, it could look cool, let's do it.
This is typically what Mr. Jerry Rig would do all when he takes things apart properly and now I can do something like this. See why he likes that, okay, I got it, it's a flexible capacitor right there. Wow, it's just a giant space there. It's like a triangle. Doesn't that look like something Tony Stark would wear on his chest? They say Elon Musk is like Tony. Alright, the Ark reactor we're going to, there's about 30 screws here, it'll take me probably six or seven minutes and it'll take you like six seconds. There's a screw somewhere on this that we're missing, so this is the part. where you just try to use a little bit of force and pull this part out, I mean, we already voided the warranty, okay, this is how we do it there, this is a giant section of this transistor and I can hold onto that, it's so weird.
I said, oh, that's a lot of stuff, look what I did there, puma, I just threw that part out, is that the way you would have done it, I mean, none, if we put it back together, but I think not only I avoided the warranty. I don't think we can put this back together and it's all my fault. Sorry, I know there are a lot of Tesla fans saying, What are you doing? We could have used that engine. I know we could have done it, but. you wouldn't have been able to see the inside of it, that's the only way we could take it apart, the real brain of this thing, the motor, just like the Jimu robot we had before, finally here it has one of the softest materials that has ever existed.
I don't know what kind of paste this is, I probably shouldn't touch it, we're really starting to leak this liquid, red and blue liquid, we know it's cooling, I don't know what it is, but it's coming out of the copper motor part this is intense , we are losing liquid, where is our blue pan? Stay there, who knew that Teslas have oil inside like us, you don't need to change the oil, but that's oil the way it mixes with the coolant is something that goes inside now we have to open this engine, that is, This is the moment, I don't think we've really pointed out this side, there's just three little wires here that this thing was connecting to and there's some kind of weird tape in there, I don't know, well, back to the big moment, okay, this is the best thing ever, these are the gears, this is where the torque comes from that makes a tesla go from 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds or whatever. giant gears right here this must have been where the oil was that just spins oh my god and then look here there are like bearings inside here that roll this one has little balls in it and this one has these rollers it smells funny and then, giant bearings in there, this is a huge bearing, so big, wow how come these things didn't break after years and years of use?
And look how smooth it is, although that's where your efficiency when going down the street comes from, one of the best. projects and one of my favorite projects that we've ever done what's inside a tesla engine and uh I don't know what else we can do inside tesla yeah this is what we did are you grounded right now? I think it's grounded from fortnite oh good joke if I say that I don't know don't lick the blue thing
