'90s reporter Darius Johnson joins us from police headquarters with more information.
Darius, hello Corey, good morning, as you just mentioned, this investigation is just beginning. Right now what investigators are trying to learn is to try to piece together and learn exactly what the motive is and exactly how all of this happened and also try to learn a little bit more about this suspect, but before they can start all of that, tries to put together a timeline to piece together exactly what happened inside Club Q on Saturday night. This individual entered the building and very quickly began opening fire on customers and people working there and the timeline is still being worked out.
And we might think we're going to get a really good timeline. Those are the actions of the suspect police identified as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich. Police say he entered the club and immediately started shooting. The first calls came at 9:00. 1-1 at 11 57 and police were able to apprehend the shooter minutes later at 1202. Police credit two people inside the club with fighting with the shooter and preventing him from injuring more people who they believed happened inside a Gunslinger minute. Upon entering the club, they say it happened so quickly that unfortunately five people lost their lives and dozens more were injured.
Now we know, in the last 24 hours since the shooting, investigators attempted to speak with the suspect's mother, who they say was not very cooperative. During that interview they have also or hope to be able to speak with the suspect who is hospitalized after being knocked down by Club attendees. One thing they are saying right now talking to people who know the suspect or Talking to the suspect will be key moving forward because that will be the only way you will know exactly how all of this happened and possibly also be able to piece together the reason for all of this.

He called news of the shooting horrible and disgusting. and devastating, this was just a safe place for people, it was a place where people in a conservative community could often get acceptance that many of them might not have had at home or in their other circles and see this happen , uh, it really just put us all in shock here in Colorado and across the country, so the governor ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings across the state, that will start this morning.
