Talking about my race

Mar 09, 2024
Will you ever post about this? Will you ever show us stop playing and make a video about it? These are just some of the DMs I received this weekend, so I decided okay, I'll tell you about my career, so here goes. I'm going to do it. I'll tell you about my career. I drove a ka 100 kart in a senior class event last Saturday at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside. Now I know it's confusing because you're thinking, oh, wait, bro. I thought your career was three weeks ago when you saw your dad blow up in the summer hit movie Fast Nine, shout out to Vinnie Bennett, both things are true, but noelle, what about your career?
talking about my race
Wait, I've been getting there since February. I've spent a lot of time driving and I'm not

talking

about that family fun center your dad took you to when he didn't feel like

talking

to you, I'm talking about real karting, go karts with two-stroke and four-stroke engines. knocks, did you hear me? These engines have knocks, that means these things. If you're not familiar with go-karts, I'm sure you look at this and think it's like sitting on a leaf blower with four wheels, but here I am. To tell you that is not the case at all, this is the designer, the engine of my kart is a ka-100.

talking about my race...

I had to wait for this to be shipped overseas because the ka-100 is made by an italian company founded in the late 60's and that means that at some point there was probably a guy who worked on this engine named mario, so yeah, I drive the real mario kart, but noel, just tell us about your career, I'm coming, wait, it's really hard for me. determining how much I should talk about karting because it's something I've been doing for the last five and six months. I have filmed all my practice days, whether I had the cash to film it from a drone or Nemo filmed it with a film camera or I filmed it with a gopro, none of these mediums capture the feeling you get when you ride this thing, no matter how much I would like to share this with people every time I look at the pictures, it just doesn't seem like you can feel what I feel when I sit in the car, so with the help of pictures I will do my best to explain what I feel.
talking about my race
I think it feels. The only thing between you and the pavement is that thick. plastic booster seat which is fantastic because it doubles as a wedge and you can sit on it after feeling the speed of this thing. That feeling of speed is increased by the rib protector that you wear inside the racing suit to protect your baby's back. In case you hit a curb that's too crazy, there's no power steering, no suspension, which means every little movement in the stroller is felt throughout your body and eventually even into your eyeballs as your skull shakes a little inside. from your helmet, it is physically exhausting and challenges your body and mind in a way that other activities do not because, unlike other sports and activities in the karting world, that is the only place you can be coached by Troy Adams between you and me, who is the most attractive driver between you and me now. what you're really asking, yeah I've got you covered, are you kidding me?
talking about my race
Number one, he's all sexy, okay, okay, he stops there, although oh no, he's definitely down here, this is the only man who makes me jump rope in a racing suit and then laugh. For me, when I couldn't spend a couple of minutes, they would have knocked you out in the end, yes, they would have knocked you out, come on, keep thinking, the only man willing to challenge you to an endurance

race

on foot under fire. Riverside's depressing red sun, all in a suit. racing. I met Troy earlier this year and he immediately recognized my interest in motorsports and invited me to his track.
He told me, "If you want to learn, I'm here to teach you." and he did just that and from the first session we started working together he didn't waste any time now the beer has because now he won't get off the gas, it's tight and it'll break because his ass is fucked up and he won't. Don't relax, so listen to how that goes bro, that's accelerating and braking at the same time, so this is a

race

car when you're accelerating, where's the weight?, back, yeah, when you're braking, right? where is the weight in front? I had the brake on and you pressed the accelerator hard what's going to happen to the car uh he's not going to go away he's going to go right here he can't find that balance okay what we want on the whole track is balance yeah. a point where you should be able to go around that right turn, a big tree towards the palm tree, that's what's good and then you still don't break, so for the last few months, that's what I started doing, I drive every two weeks or so.
For months I drive almost every week and I was just learning, you know, adapting to the heat, trying to train my body to drive more than 36 laps, realizing how weak my back was, you know, all kinds of different things, even what makes me throw up. Traffic was on the highway and in my mind it will be one of these days. I can see it now. We got up late. We will arrive late. So he'll get into the kart without a helmet strap, but let's work on full throttle first and then. brake everything before that little drop, once we get him to slow down and use more brakes you'll have a lot more control of the car at this point, he's just trying to go fast, yeah us kids we can't, can't go . quickly if we don't understand how to slow down you look a little old what in no way better okay no that was much better I think the most important thing is to contain the work to the right that was good yes sir oh me all day okay maybe not on stage maybe not on stage what would be a fast time for me to get to 50 if I get to 51 51?
Yeah, okay, all that training ran until last Saturday, July 10, so yeah, I'm finally going to talk about it. race on race day is simple you have two practice sessions, a qualifying round and then three heats and each of those heats counts as an individual race the event started around three in the afternoon and three in the afternoon in Riverside summer is like standing in someone's mouth after you've smoked, you know, at least two joints, it's hot, dry and muggy. I did the first practice and I feel gutted because I had been there the day before and did three practice sessions alone, so I'm going to.
In the second practice session I took this performance-enhancing drug called Advil and that helped me. I found a pretty good rhythm in the second practice and was mentally ready for qualifying. Two practices left and I'm about to go to my qualifying session seven minutes my fastest time will determine where I am in the starting position so far my arms are nice feet but now I'm fine I have to overcome the biggest thing which is a small back term rear is when "You're scared, you're scared to keep the accelerator full now as we enter qualifying. This is when my nerves start to get a little bit because you know.
I'm starting to put pressure on myself. This feels like the culmination from many months of practicing and learning and blah blah blah, but I stopped all that and just try to remind myself that it's not that deep and I just have to enjoy it Now I have to thank one of the main trainers a lot and. to the driver from Troy he works under his name is aj aj he has worked a lot with me during this process and going into qualifying you know he made me feel like yes we did it and he was helping me keep my head on the main thing he told me. before hitting the track.
Hey man, if you turn off a heater, which means you know an incredibly hot lap, just bring the cart back because unlike the carts at your family fun center, these are real carts, remember these things, there's just some things you should keep in mind. which is the engine you know it heats up and you have to maintain a certain temperature and your tires have a certain lifespan so you want to maintain that so I accidentally went into the qualifying round and did exactly that if you've never seen racing before . you don't know about motorsports, that's fine, basically, qualifying works like this, each driver goes out and tries to set fast times on the track, they will take the fastest time from each driver and then create a leaderboard.
On my second or third lap I did my best time and put the cart back in. In fact, I got there so fast that when I got back to the pits Alina looked at me and said, Wow, I'm not the only one. The importance of qualifying is that your lap time determines where you start on the grid. For me, I came in fifth, so I was right in the middle of the ten cards. What that meant for me was that I had the fifth-fastest time in qualifying, so I was going to start fifth out of 10 in the actual race, which felt great because the guys in front of me had more sponsors on their suits than the ones in front of me.
I've read ads my entire YouTube career, so with all that out of the way, it's finally time to race and that's when my nerves really started to kick in because unlike Mario Kart, you don't start from a stop, you can't do a button combo and get a little mushroom to get going, you do what's called a rolling start, everyone will get out and do a little parade lap to warm up the tires, then the cars will slow down, everyone They will be stacked in two single rows, rolling at low speed, gradually approaching a green flag the closer they get.
You get to that flag, you feel the intensity, everyone starts leaning on the gas a little bit more and as soon as that guy waves the green flag, fortunately, I have a great start and quickly pull away from the sixth place driver, so I'm following I got close to the top five and immediately noticed that the driver in third is holding back the driver and the fourth, so I'm already thinking that if I can position myself correctly, I could probably finish in third if these two want to fight. that means I'm immediately driving hard and I don't mean I'm walled up, I mean I'm driving aggressively even though my ribs feel like they're softened and my arms are pretty exhausted, I just feel like a man.
I've spent all this time learning that I have to go for it, that means I did it. You know, I'm finding a lot of speed. I'm flirting with the earth at every turn. I'm letting a tire be kind of a rim on the outside. the track a little bit just to try to get a little bit of an advantage and get closer to the guy in front, we're not that far along in the race, but you know, I can feel it, this guy in third place, the door is going to open. up and at least I'm going to pass him and potentially the guy in front and I get close to that, the guy in third actually moves back two places so now he's behind me that means I'm up and fourth and now I'm chasing The guy in third, I'm really chasing him, you know, I'm closing the gap and I'm getting so close that I hit his bumper a little bit and push him, but I did what I did.
That's a rookie mistake for any driver: you have to drive like there's no one in front of you and I focused so much on this guy that I ended up chasing his line basically and that made me make some mistakes and I put in enough effort. gap between us that I'm out of laps where I could actually catch him and unfortunately, you know, I spent the rest of the race trying to get close to him, the ride became so intense that I actually felt my arms like I really let it go I've even been taking the advil, so you know, I'm starting to think that I have to improve my driving and I have to defend myself from the guy behind me because every time I look back, this guy is getting closer and closer to me. so I don't think I can go back down to fifth place.
At least I got a pass here and I have to make it work, so that's what I did. You know, I just held my foot down a couple of times and I actually went to the ground. I jumped and jumped once in the dirt, but I said it, you know, I went through it and just kept going and finally, you know, I got it home and a quarter, the whole race was just eight laps, you know? The laps were like, you know, 49 48 seconds, but damn, it should feel like 20. It was crazy, I have to say that of the three sets I only did the first one because you know, I'm not really after doing so much practice.
And you know, at the end of the first race you know I was already done, but my main goal was to try to finish the race, make sure I don't crash and I have to do that and more because you know I'm back. one spot ahead uh aj he was super happy he and I were celebrating cash he was definitely happy with that and alina and uh alex you know our production assistants so you know it was a good day I even got Troy to smile a little with my performance. You know, what I felt was a victory, sure, he had things to tell me that he could have done better, but you know, I knew he would come.
I know this is all a niche hobby, but there is an aspect to karting. I think about that a lot, you know, you can't focus on the mistakes when you're driving because there's already a curve coming up,You have to be very present and I think that's the most important thing that Troy and Aj have tried. Teach me, you know, I think that applies a lot in life, this is something that I will continue to dedicate time to because you know I want to learn enough so that I can feel comfortable getting into a bigger real car and actually be competent, okay, right?
Where did I start? Where did I end? Yes, you're killing me. I can not believe it. I can't believe he fought. He got two more runs and finished. That's why we have to do a lot more push-ups and. abs There is also another important thing that I learned and that is that under no circumstances should you ever eat Wendy's before driving. In fact, I'm sure that's what killed my dad at the fastnine switch, he missed a shutdown.
