timeless bedroom makeover full of easy diys...

Well, personally I want something really comfortable. I am a minimalist. You know, people search. water neutral colors black white and gray something that you know can withstand time because I will be in this house for quite a while yes, after high school something that you will know how to grow with you right yes, it's okay because when I thought maybe I wasn't 16, but When I was definitely 14 I painted my room hot pink and I definitely regret it. Yes, we had mine a bright yellow, so I understand where you're coming from, it's very clever. I love this overlapping as it is so beautiful, but when you think about the blue, well, initially I wanted the color to be a little more grey, but as you can see, it came out with these kind of straight blue rays that are really difficult and kick very easily, purple, gray, green, so okay, we can do this like this.

Yeah, this isn't entirely neutral right now and then obviously you're going back to school, you're still in school so I guess you need some places to work, dad, I don't really have any desks right now. Well, with all that in mind, I think Chelsea and I are going to come up with some designs in this space. I'll show them to you in a second. Very good, sounds good. Well, we have some plans to show you. Yes, I really am. Excited to see what you guys come up with. I'm really excited too, so for my design I'm going to make some darker gray walls and also keep that beautiful white ship lab.

I'm going to move your bed and put it up. Place it against the shiplap wall so it really opens up the space when she enters. I'm going to add a chair for another seating area because we can't have too many seating areas other than putting her mirror next to it. four doors under her window I want to put her desk in her study space or where she does her makeup. She will put everything together with a rug and some plants and on that empty wall of the bed I want to make a gallery. wall because I think the best thing to do with the blank ball is to just make a beautiful gallery wall and of course we can't forget some lighting to add to the kouzef factor.
Well, let me show you my plan. so my plan for Emily's room involves keeping her bed on the back wall it currently is on. I want to make you a custom headboard that goes behind the kind of faux that I want to wave on the other wall to give the whole room a cohesive feel. I also want to give the headboard a custom touch by adding some sconces to the actual headboard to act as lights on either side of the bed. I want to make two small nightstands with a large fluffy circular rug under this. She's going back to school.
I want to make sure she has a great studio space to work in to do this. I want to give him two desks together all the time. Let's send up block walls to create a giant long desk for her to work at. I also want to make sure she has a space to relax. so I want to make a fluffy tufted bench under the window with lots of pillows and blankets to make it really cozy and relaxing for her. I'm going to put a little laptop table in there so you can get a little creative if you want.
Well, on each side of the window I want to put some long white curtains to make the wall look really big and open. She mentioned that she likes gray, so she would put a nice light gray on all three walls, since she already has that mirror. I want to place it on the back wall next to the closet so I can see the outfit she is getting ready for. Plus, mirrors are amazing and make spaces feel big. I really like this one a lot because there's a lot of space to not only just but also put on my makeup, you know, I like the bench near the window, my appointment is now, ultimately, I think I like this plan better, okay, yeah, the circular rug is very pretty and I think it's definitely more my style, okay, I'm I'm really excited to bring this to life, but we want it to be a surprise, so I think I'll say goodbye to you now and the next time we see you We will show you your new room.
Okay, I'm really excited that the end result is good. Very good, I am very happy that you chose my design. I feel like this space has a lot of potential and I can't wait to get started on this room. My design wasn't chosen, but I'm okay with that because I'm so excited. Becky's design and I can't wait to get started. Okay, it's time to go shopping, so I'll let Kelsey go to the hardware store at the thrift store and Claire and I will go shopping for furniture like that big wide analysis or Deeply a more sober silver lamp, since we have been blessing today with this advice.
Okay, now that we're back from shopping, we have all the supplies. I want to start making that DIY custom headboard, so this headboard is made of five pieces. from an eight by six foot long pine board and then I'll use some thinner pieces of plywood on the back to hold all the boards in place. The plan is to attach the headboard to the wall with some studs, so I'm screwing two together. any of the plywood pieces closest to the top of the headboard, the last step is to add a nice trim to this. I am using white cedar one by two and cutting three pieces to fit the sides and top of the headboard I am using. some wood screws and screws in the back to attach the decorative piece, yes that's what there really is no time to do all the shopping and the DIY's are complete and we will start first thing tomorrow.
I'm going to paint Emily's room a royal gray because whatever. she painted it it's not great even though she wanted gray it's so weird it's gray Craig okay I'm ready to do a raised room. I am, so I think the bed is just getting in the way of my painting too. a jump is so beautiful, yes, all over the bed, yes, and then I think just grab the painting, fortunately there are not too many things to move, let alone go back to the abalone room, okay, okay, slide it in this way, it's one of those once her environment oh my gosh, it's on wheels, rolling, rolling, rolling, white sheets, so that helps the theme, yeah, she knows she's already on the theme, it's like If I were just starting to do it.
I know your help, so let's correct it. I can not believe it. she wanted to do gray and then this is what happened. This is the moral of the story. The gray ones are very difficult. I see people. They're like I painted my house gray. I'm like you paint your house purple or them. It's like he urinated in my house. It's like you painted your house green. gray, you know, oh wait, I can't see it, oh, that's light, so it's light, but when I don't want to be what paint, it turns dark, yeah, I like that, always test your colors with your finger, okay, let's start painting, it's nice.
Like, yeah, I like this, sorry, are you sharing a line more than a pat on the shoulder? It's okay, it's okay. I'm almost done cutting out this entire wall, but you might want to keep rolling and I can paint the headboard. Hmm, it will look so good when paired with this, this gray color will look so good on the walls, but I'm the only Kelsie who finishes that job, since I know she can do it. I'm going to go out and start painting. that diy headboard i made yesterday oh hi, how's it going? I have this painted which looks amazing.
It is also painted. I was wondering where the other backrest for my frame was. It will be a DIY as I think it started now. I wanted to make sure Emily's room was stylish and still functional for someone who is still in high school, as you know Crayola is our lovely sponsor for today's video so I'm going to use their dry erase paint to take notes for to hack. a minimalist frame on a dry erase board to do this, I already removed the backing from this frame and painted it white. Next, I am mixing the dry erase paint according to the instructions on the box and painting it on my white sheet.
Once the painting has

full

y cured, it can be placed back in the frame and will be ready to hang. That almost rhymes. I wait for the center to dry. I'm going to start making the Komachi set for this white board that is making a cork board, so I'm just taking some peeled cork board and adding it to the back of a photo frame. I'm just doing a couple coats of this to make sure it's thick enough to stick a pin in this, it was very

easy

and in the end it looks so good, so elegant, the paint is dry and the gray actually looks gray , which is much harder than I thought.
I'm in love with how it turned out so let's hang those curtains it's time to install our DIY headboard you should have pushed the bed further but no yeah Ian no I didn't scratch the bed yeah yeah me too I could have gotten away with it, Ian, so the plan was to have her almost completely. Up to here because I want it to be a tall headboard, with so many walls facing and also it looks like there are sconces arguing over it, so they raise their heads right now, so install it. I think try to get it and then I'll tell you how you did it.
You gotta put your little bead ring forward, yeah, so it catches, you know, oh, did we do it? I'm in, you're in, yeah, hell no, shut up, Edward looks so good, honestly, he's too good to be true, is he too good to? It's true, that's so cute, it's too high, yeah, it's totally too high, you know we did it, oh I know what we did, you measured from above, not from where the D rings are, we're actually so stupid, the baby's first room

makeover

, oh yeah, that's it I thought, um, okay, this can be fixed, it can be fixed, we just have to turn it down and we can't turn it down any more than I literally block the balls.
I'm like Claire literally has to play. I hate being so confident. that's so

easy

I know beautiful let's buy her bigger mattress that's the song right now I don't know what you're talking about absolutely no room she falls asleep unless you move the D rings up Becky yeah yeah that too . Yes, what's easiest is to make new screw holes in the wall or new D-rings. I think the new D-rings will probably fit the earrings. It's the amount of extra space you get. Is it enough for it to just be damaged? We'll take it off and measure it and then we'll figure this out, okay, okay, I think it was a quick soul.
I know they say the third time's the charm, but I really hope the second time's the charm, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, let's just put this back together if you can see it mm-hmm oh yeah, that's the perfect height , so it took a little more trial and error than we expected, but next I'm going to put some sconces on this headboard to really make it feel super custom, oh that's it. Pretty, yeah, and we're blessed, so my thought was on the inspirational photos and she had a headboard that had sconces built in, yeah, so we could do that or they could go on the wall like that, it was kind of like a true thought. on the edge at the top it's cool, wait can I get the side tables mm-hmm yeah and then we put the cable away?
Wow, that's it, so the first installation of the sconce makes it impossible to see the court, yes, a big step, yes. I'm always impressed when we get the lights right, even though we end up getting them right every time. I know I actually love the whole overlapping, huh, you could have been like: you go here, the light goes here, you have ogres there, but this makes me feel. like custom because you can't just buy this but you can buy furniture yeah why honey? I am so impressed with how the sconce installation turned out. It really made the headboard come to life, so now the entire bed area looks amazing, it's time. to move on to your serinas study space flip bring those deaths Wow ooh yes thanks for the bowling ball it's a failure oh no poof this looks so cute together I'm so glad that the eyes these days haveI think this looks like a magazine that says our serene studio space is actually like a serene space.
I know, so there's one last desk DIY I want to do and then I think we can move on to the next area. Okay, cool, I'll let you take it. So next I'm going to make this super cute DIY desk calendar using more of the Crayola note taking line. I'm starting with six nine-by-twelve pieces of cardstock cut in half to make twelve sheets. With a pencil, draw four inches by six. one inch rectangle in the bottom half measure five one inch sticks on the vertical line and seven half inch marks on a horizontal line connect the text to make a light grid, we will go over the script with the markers adding the numbers and days of the week you can erase the pencil lines after it was an eraser.
Well now honestly the most exciting part of this DIY is using the erasable highlighters color in a section on top with the highlighter side and then using the eraser side to write on. Name itOne more month for this incredible effect. It's crazy. I am so in love with this product as we all remember using Crayola as kids, but I love that they have this new line that makes it so easy for us to use now as adults. once all the months are done, I will now display it on this super cute mini easel. Okay, now that that's done, we can do the next area, which is a rest and recharge area.
I love this bench, it's cute and we're going to add some creativity now that the studio space is complete. I'm going to start working on a relaxation and recharge area for Emily, the Creoles. New washable gel pens. I will personalize your notebook. This cozy bench and mini table are a perfect place for journaling. I'm also going to personalize some of her pots for her new plant friends, literally. I think I've seen so many pink colors that, like a paint store, there are so many good colors. Hardy rose, braava kado, like avocado, but Bravo. When this is over I hope you say Brava kado.
There are so many good colors that won't fit my coloring using Crayola permanent markers and I haven't colored like this in what seems like forever. It's so Zen. I forgot how relaxing. It is and it definitely feels like Crayola, but for adults we're going for the organic look. Yes, you need it in this room. Everything exactly. I need a ruler that you can use on curved items. I know it's a tape measure, but it's not really. I need it to be like a snap bracelet ruler, like for curved items, trademark. Wow, that's so cute, oh this was my favorite, but they're all my favorites.
I mean, I think I like this one, the color on this one is great because it gives the room so much personality now with hand drawn things. I know you can continue if you want, absolutely relieved here with all of this. Well, I think next we can bring in the giant rug that I'm so excited about because it's a huge circle that can bring a lot of warmth to Coco, this room knows how to pose, okay, I'm going to need help concentrating, okay, so I know Emily was super excited about the circle rug so I'm really happy we bought it for her now.
We'd have to put it under the bed, which shouldn't be too hard. OMG this is the biggest rug we have ever bought. I feel great, wait, don't drop it on me. Sorry, where will it go under the bed? the bed for the most part is fine, great, so I feel like we have to like it like this, repeat it below, I have it like at least it's a circle, it's like, you can't really make it crooked, it's just like lift it, throw it and lift it up, okay, ready, yeah, lift it up. oh look I literally don't think I can lift it, it's done, it looks great, yeah done, ok omg the big rug here is a big deal, after several tries and a little help from our friend Claire, We were able to put this rug under the bed, okay, oh, this is so fluffy.
I'm here for it, but I'm not here for this. What's going on? We're definitely going to do something with this bed, but that can be done in the finishing touches. do it and let's go it's the little thing it looks so good pulling what and we get the future going yeah it's good when she walks through the door do you think she wants eucalyptus or a weakness look how it tastes weak or smells like that? It smells like orange, I smelled it previously oh I think it's like a fresh eucalyptus, okay it goes with the vibe of simple and green and I love what this is giving me right now, should we bring it mm-hmm Emily, oh yeah , No?
I'm not going crazy, crazy guy kid, okay, I'll guide you in, I'll get you in. I feel like we should make a speech or something. I think we can do a countdown, that's the big one. Okay, I count in three two. one, oh my gosh, what do you think?, oh my gosh, it looks like something from Pinterest so perfect and clean and elegant. I love this place. We liked a serene study space for you for back to school. We DIY the whiteboard and The cork board we have here is like a relaxed reach heart, it was just a little creativity zone, just another area where you can hang out mm-hm and then this headboard that we custom made for you according to Pinterest in slow, I know you.
I love it early, so all the lights are plugged in and run on one switch, which is awesome, and then most of your bedding, I mean, you've got better ready, we just liven it up a little bit with the big circle what did you want. We also have you in watering cans so you're going to have to water them because they're all real yeah okay so love I love it it's so cute oh thank you for letting us do it oh my gosh let me go back to school. I loved Emily's new room. I think it has a sort of Pottery Barn vibe, which I don't think anyone has said, but it's so classic and I think she'll love it for a long time.
I'm very happy with how this. I feel like we really nailed the look she was going for, but we started out being able to keep it young and youthful and perfect for back to school and giving back to Crayola and her new line to take notes for sponsoring this video. and help us with some of the DIYs in this week's curated style episode.
