creating these gorgeous portraits and in a very unconventional way where each little piece of the

Now I've been looking for something to put in this. wall in my studio for years now and this seems to be in my way so the question is how hard is it to do this and how long will it take first things first, how many cubes do I need, the more cubes the higher resolution the image will be and I want a image that covers this entire wall that measures 3m by 3m, so I did the math and the number was big somewhere in the region of

Of these I tried Amazon first, buying them from the UK would cost around £15,000 but hey the free shipping cubes direct from China are dubiously cheap but shipping still means it will cost at least 10 grand and they only have 472 of these in stock on eBay and AliExpress gave me similar results ah ah this was going to be expensive but then I remembered something. Acquiring 300kg of Rubik's cubes was surprisingly easy. The project got off to a good start; However, that was when I encountered the first obstacle since I chose the normal cubes that are designed. To be sold individually, each cube arrived enclosed in its own individual box, so all 3000 needed to be unpacked. This was an agonizing process and although I was very quick to unpack, this still took an incredible amount of time. I even cheated here and help was recruited and some novel techniques were developed. When all was said and done, it took me almost 9 hours just to unpack the cubes.
It's pretty ridiculous before I can start doing it. I need a frame to keep all the cubes in place and this is not a problem. Product available on the market, my plan was to build one using my superb carpentry skills. It turns out that wood is very expensive and very heavy. I have no, and I mean zero, carpentry skills. I had never done anything like this before the frame was an embarrassment. to all the carpenters in the world, but it would work, the only problem is that it also weighed 300kg, we're going to lift it like this, so you don't want to be on site because that's going to hit the wall I don't think this is that bad, oh God, it's breaking, it's breaking, where is it breaking?

I can't put this off any longer, it's time to start arranging the cubes into a picture, so I made a 6X 10 grid, so I need to make 50 of these blocks correctly, that's the first cube, this is day one , our zero, actually no, it is not. It took me 9 hours to unpack the cubes and 8 hours to build the frame, so we're actually 17 hours in, that should look like this, about 3 hours of work a little less, that's 180 less, 2,820 to go to a nonc. This may seem impressively difficult, but remember that for each cube only one face needs to be solved, this is a lot. easier and faster than solving a complete cube, the difficult part is making the correct layout for each cube quickly and doing it for hours and hours without making mistakes, so last night I dreamed all night about Rubik's cubes, my life is consumed For this. project cubes there cubes there cubes there another box of cubes there cubes there initially it was taking me just under an hour to make a block of 60 cubes which is almost 60 seconds per cube now I can solve a full cube in less than 35 seconds but of Somehow I'm actually slower just doing patterns on a face, however after hours and hours at this I got faster and was finally doing blocks of 60 in about 25 minutes.
These are so heavy and so difficult to transport. I have been very busy. I have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 segments ready to place in the frames. I built all of these at home and secured them with duct tape so I can move them and hopefully I can just place them like that that one is in the wrong place no no no no no no as much as it would be appropriate for the story of this video to say I hated this and it was miserable that wouldn't be honest i would happily sit for 3 hours straight listening to music simply dividing each cube into its correct pattern provided a small portion of satisfaction it was an almost meditative process and placing each block in the frame and watching a picture emerge of hundreds of kilograms of plastic. prompted me to do another block before bed, in fact the only bet I really hated was carrying the cubes up the damn stairs to the studio, which actually looks how I want it to look now, it looks good, so this part here I have done it correctly, but it looks weird.
This should just be a straight line. I just don't think this pixel should be blue, so yeah, that's better. Day 9000 and we're actually 2000 cubes down, so 2/3 of the way to 1000 cubes. I've been doing this a little bit every day because my hand hurts, I get bored, it's hard, but today because actually It now looks like an image instead of just a random series of meaningless pixels that I want. to power up and make 1,000 cubes today and finish this project. I have about five or six, maybe seven hours of cubes in a row today, 1,000 cubes in a day, let's do it, I just made it so there are not 3,000 unique cubes, there are many, many, many. repetition here that's very common that's very common and I can do all of those very very quickly because I've done them so many times and you said the question, okay, that's me, today I made 300 cubes, another 700 more, that's right, some of the blocks are easier than others three are missing 100 cubes we're almost there I'm in the final stretch we're almost there but I'm making so many mistakes I'm so confused and I don't really understand what I'm doing I just want to go home, but I'm so close to finishing the last cube.
Here it is, this is what needs to be climbed, so we go up the ladder and climb one last cube. Here we go. Okay, let's do a head count here, so 9 hours to unpack. cubes 8 hours to build a frame and a colossal 22 hours to organize the cubes, totaling 39 hours for the entire project. Difficulty-wise, Far and Away's framework gave me the most problems, but Cubes itself is pretty easy, if fairly monotonous.
