knife

. I bought it today at a pawn shop for about 10 dollars. I was able to convince them a little bit, literally, just pick this up and what we're going to do is a little bit of restoration and I'm going to sharpen it so it's very dull now, but this will turn it into an old Schrade. This is going to be a good

knife

so I'm going to show you a couple of things that do it and you'll see that even with this sheath I'll try to clean it up a little bit every time you see these little phrases like that this is just a lighter and look you can do this with leather too much.

I recommend just going around and taking care of all those little chips that will make everything last a little longer, but you don't want to do this for too long otherwise depending on the material it could all start. on fire but everywhere there is a little phrase just walk around you can see like this a little bit of fraying right there it takes care of doing it well for a long time if I just go there I fix it a little and it's done much better now that I have a knife, like this that I bought these other things, this is a pure citrus orange from Home Depot and you can also get it online, but it's pure citrus, it's amazing, this specific type, but it can do two things.

I can totally clean this sheet and then it's really good for removing adhesives or stickers, so what I do is I just spray a little bit of this, just spray a little bit around the sticker, let it soak in, let it soak in a little bit and then peel it off and then , once you get a little bit like that, you can even spray a little bit more, there we go, it comes off right away, so it's nice. I like those things. What I'm going to do here. I'll show you. I'm going to take the whole sheet.

I'm going to spray this all down and try to clean it up a little bit. It has some rough spots, as you can see, I won't be able to get it all out. This is just a cleaner. I have other things I'm going to do. I give you a close, clean look, that's really good. I have some other things that aren't too bad to polish these things up. You can do this after you're done or you can do it now, but you only take a little bit of this. a few clean rags just do a little dab a little bit on each side like this put the lid back take your rag just put it in you can see I'm already recovering quite a bit the other side will have to do that a few I'm going to do that a few times hmm, those things smell bad, but this type of polish works very well.

I am really very happy with everything that helps with the rust, it really shines and you have to remember. Be very careful with any knife you make like this because you can cut yourself easily so you have to be very careful, get a new one and now the knife is much better, it is not perfect but it is much better and now we are ready to test the sharpness so Here I have my best trusty sharpener tester. I'll show you how it works. If you haven't seen it, just grab one of these little clips. Little clips like that, play it.
Here turn the unit on and we'll break it down and see how sharp it is. I don't even know. I don't think this is going to be very sharp at all twelve hundred and seventeen and in case I'm wondering what that means, it means it's very, very, very, very boring. In fact, I'll get the graph and show it to you. This is the actual graph and you can see that on the same issue it goes up to 2000, so the

edge

is bent. Severely coiled is where we are. I'll approach here so severely coiled, yeah, I'd say the same thing too, so let's see if we can get it.
I'm going to shoot somewhere over there next to the double-

edge

d knife. razor that's going to be our goal today guys this concludes the first section and we'll move on to the second part here thank you okay guys we're getting started this is a little hard to see but now I'm zooming in on the edge and I'm starting at the evil edge with a hundred grains and what we're going to do is put in a marker line. I want to keep this at about eighteen and I don't think so. I think I'm already there, so I'm going to mark fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen and this side, so let's see where it lines up when I make an initial pass here.
I think I like the way it looks better, you can see yourself. I can see a little bit better on that, so I'm going to start with a hundred grains and I'm just going to do that on each side, so I make a few passes on each side and then I come back and just do it to I go this way and I just go out so fair and when I get to the edge I want to be very careful not to put too much pressure on that edge, so I'm very careful to go straight out. or even finish, I'm going to see what it looks like, yeah, that's not exactly what I wanted here, waiting, let's vote seventeen, seventy on this side.
I'm going to double check with the bookmark just to see this one. It probably takes going a little further, just double checking to make sure it looks the way I want it, so when you're at these bottom grains, you need to keep going until you get it exactly right, remove the material and Say it, say it's exactly right, you can alternate it like this, this side needs a lot more, just get to where it needs to be that simple, some people don't like that, but that helps get material out and I have to do it. on that side much better I would be careful when you do it.
I see that it is improving a lot. This side near the tip is still fabulous. Sometimes the tip is the most difficult. I'm going to turn them over to Work the other side now and I'm going to start alternating a little more. Okay, that's the end of stage one. I'll let you take a look at it. Hopefully, it will look pretty good. Look at the real shape and the original grind. Perfect guys, now we're moving on to 200 grit, so now that the initial edge shape is complete, let's move on to 200 grit. I always take a clean cloth and wipe it very carefully to remove the 100 grit.
Sorry so and now we'll do 200 200 a little bit easier it won't take as long just do a couple of passes just to get the feel of each side just go a little bit nicer guys that's the end of stage two we just completed using grain two hundred and you can take a look at the edge and see what that grain pattern looks like. Alright guys, we're looking at the next sequence which is 400 grit, so again I'm going to start. Always tighten the knobs at the bottom just to make sure you're at the same level, make it very smooth, just forget about that 400 feeling.
I do about 25 strokes of 400, you can get an idea of what that looks like. It looks a little more refined. I'm going to go to 600. Sometimes I try with my thumbnail if it catches. You know it's pretty safe. If it doesn't catch on, then you need to keep working on it a little bit. Okay, let's move on. at 600, about 50 strokes on each side, you can go longer, we're going to move to 800 and 1000, so I know this might go out of focus if I'm sorry, but I'm doing the best I can with the cameras and it's very difficult so this is 800 this is going to start with that mirror.
I like to work up and down a little bit and just cross the toe once or twice, do it a couple of times on each side and then you can start the progression, okay. what the hatching pattern looks like after 800 grit so that's after 800 grit okay we'll go to mil if it fades I'll refocus it sorry ahead of time mil should refine it even more starting to get a lot of time . better again, this is a thousand. I'm going to use just one more hair. I'm going to take a clean cloth and just wipe down my white, my mil, in case there's any residue left and of course once you're done, you're going to want to clean up. these but okay we're done with a thousand and you can tell it's reflecting a little bit more so that's great let's move on to the next stage okay guys we're at 1500 so these are all the diamonds So far all I've been using has been diamonds, this one is 1500 grit so let's keep the progression going, you can see the sound it makes is a lot smoother, it looks like it looks pretty good, go for it. a little more to complete 1500, so now we will move on to the next stage.
Alright guys we're on the next stage 2200 so I got 2200 diamonds and I'm just going to touch one side a little bit and do the same thing. on the other, now I'm going to start the sequence very carefully so as not to ruin this. Can you see how it's becoming a little more of a mirror finish now? 20200 I think it's starting to start putting that on. I have to work a little. A little bit more on the tip, it's hard to see from this angle, but I'm going to focus on that tip a little bit. You don't want to do too much on one side, otherwise you'll ruin everything and then you can.
Flip them over just so the other side goes forward and that helps break the stone accurately quite well. Now I'm going to move on to 3000, starting to polish a lot more, which is good for 3000, as you can see it's quite a bit more mirrored, now we'll move on to the next stage as now the diamond lapping films are rounded and I'm starting with six microns, you just go with these like this, this will really start to put them here. Emira, you're already seeing a lot. You better wipe it with a clean cloth and keep cleaning this very carefully because if you don't you will cut yourself.
That's the end of 6 microns, now we're going to go to 3 microns, which is right on the other side that I have. 3 micron lapping films on this side. I'll wipe it one more time with another clean cloth, much better. Now I'm going to move on to the next stage, so we end up with three microns, since this is one of the last stages that Now we are on one micron diamond lapping films and just continue with this sequence, keep moving away from the edge and this gives it the prettiest mirror and it will only work if you made the previous stages perfect.
Does it look pretty good? a little better, okay, I'm going to use a team. I'm going to clean it now. I'm going to move on to the last stage, this is half a micron, 1/2 micron, okay guys, that's pretty much it. I'm going to pause, readjust and I'm going to show you what this looks like, it won't test the edge, no, okay guys, this is the knife. I haven't tested the sharpness yet, you can see the edge is almost completely mirror, with a mirror finish, it's really very sharp, now come on. to go back to the best test measurement and we're going to put in a new clip and see what the improvement is from when we originally tested it, okay, there it is, let's see how sharp it was. able to get it 97 right without wasting too much time we go from 1202, we're way up where the edge was severely rolled and we get it down to less than a hundred, which is like a double edge. razor, so I'll take that any day of the week.
If they wanted to, they obviously could have spent even more time and they could have gotten it quite, you know, a little sharper in case you're wondering, 97 is sharper than any razor you can get, so I'm talking about this pup. , now you know what an ultra razor is. I mean, it just shows up here. No problem, so thanks for watching this
