The Power of Gratitude - Part 2 | Joyce Meyer | Enjoying Everyday Life

Mar 07, 2024
This program has been made possible by the friends and associates of Joyce Meyer Ministries First Corinthians chapter 8 verse 3 not chapter 3 verse 8. But if one truly loves God all truly say with affectionate reverence ready obedience and grateful recognition of His blessings is known God recognizes him as worthy of his intimacy and love and he is his property, so he says that true love for God is not just going to church weekly, it is not just saying "I love God", but someone who truly love God will have loving reverence a reverent attitude towards God an attitude of honor towards God Tonight I prayed that when preaching there would be great respect for the word of God, some of the things we do sometimes while people try to preach people I wouldn't have done them.

A hundred years ago, no way, no, how we need to realize the value of the word of God and that it really is the

power

of God in that word, and you don't know? Don't do something like text someone while someone is preaching, that's not the case. It's good to do it right, I just wanted to send them something that you're saying, well, you know, if you want to do it later, that's fine, but not while you're preaching, don't go to the bathroom otherwise. I don't have to, I don't go when I'm up here, I mean, I can't just leave and go to the bathroom, amen, and you know, don't even talk to anyone next to you about everything I'm saying. and bother the person in front of you we need to show reverence for the word of God that is

part

of loving God is being reverent about what he has given us ready obedience and grateful recognition of all his blessings now everyone says I love God, That's why I am very grateful to another man in the story named Leslie, who is married to a woman named Edris.

Now, when we met, she was living in several backyards with her eight children, who had about five different fathers, I think, and her circumstances were as bad as they could be. Well, you know, through Pastor Tommy's dream for dream centers, we began to not only support the one in Los Angeles, but we also started a Dream Center in St. Louis, so Leslie is a man who was a career Canadian soccer player who played for professional soccer and got injured and became an airline. he got a career in the airlines somehow I became addicted to drugs I ended up living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles not only did drugs but I also sold them and dealt drugs the LA Dream Center reached out to him and he returned to God and went through a lot of restoration at that time, somehow ended up in our Dream Center in St.

and is doing super well now. two of them fall in love and get married, he works in our office, what does he do? Mike, you see, he's in the call center, so you could call the office sometime and find Leslie and he could pray with you or something, and now besides. to their jobs, they regularly reach out to young drug addicted men living on the streets, they even bring some of them into their homes and disciple them, so here they went from living in backyards to living on the streets of Los Angeles to take the same path.

What was killing them and use it now to help free other people. Come on, I think God deserves a praise and I really love this one. This is a testimony that only arrived by mail in recent years, it has not been like that. Good on me, Shirley from Missouri. I've been on the wrong side of things. I have been raped, homeless, and have struggled with alcohol and mental issues, but since I started reading your book Battlefield of the Mind, I am taking my

life

back. on the right path I never thought that with a little belief in prayer my life could improve so much, but it does.
I love that a little bit of belief in prayer, a little bit of belief and prayer, come on, a little bit of belief and prayer, just a little bit of belief and prayer, but it has and right now I'm still unemployed. I love this, but I'm still looking forward to it. I'm happy to say I now have a roof over my head and with God's help I haven't had a drink in quite some time. I don't have many things, I sleep on the floor and I don't have furniture but I am happy and at peace with my life for the first time in a long time.
Now I know that what you have is not important but what you believe in your heart is what is important as long as I have Jesus in my heart. I have more than most people in the rest of the world. Thank you for helping me understand that I can get my life back through your love. Wow, I mean, come on, she's sleeping on the floor with no furniture and no job, but she's grateful to have a roof over her head and grateful to have Jesus in her heart, so let's practice what she said with hope. I'm glad to be happy. thank you, we need to learn to speak.
Amen, we simply need to learn to speak. Now I could go on and on and show you many more scriptures about Thanksgiving, but I think I'd better take a little time and just talk to you. a few minutes about complaining oh well then we'll end up in a good place don't be sad now Philippians 2 14 and 15. do whatever you want that means those of you in the overflow can't complain because you're not listening and that means when you go out tonight you won't be able to complain about how long it will take you to get out of the parking lot because of traffic, you won't be able to complain if you have to walk three blocks to get your car you're going to thank God that you can walk we're going to thank God that you can walk I have the mission to find really unique and creative things to be grateful for in my life, I mean, I like all the normal things, thanks for salvation, thanks for food, home, family and Jesus, I mean, I love all of that and all of that is important, do that, but I think there are things we miss.
I really do now. Thank God very much for clean water. It's amazing to go to the sink, just turn a knob and heat it up or cool it down as much as you want. I even have an automatic hot water dispenser that puts out boiling water and I can heat my cup of coffee with that water there's so much to be grateful for so much to be grateful for let's get creative and

gratitude

sounds fun I mean let's get really creative in our

gratitude

so we've started this whole campaign, we have a A big bookcase in the office has all the glass windows and I said, I want all those windows to be covered with little sticky notes of different things that you're grateful for, let's not be like the lepers, ten were healed and only one came.
If we are to take that percentage, that means that only 10 percent of the people are grateful and 90 percent are murmuring and grumbling no matter what they do for you and the Bible says to be anxious for nothing but for everything through prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving, may your requests be made known to God. Why should God give me if I am a complainer? Why should God answer my prayer and just give me more to complain about? The heart has to change. Do all things without complaining or finding fault or complaining. God, I went back to Philippians 2, 14 and 15.
Do all things without complaining or criticizing complaining, this says against God, it's like, well, God, I'm not complaining against you, but he says yes, so that you may show yourself blameless. . Without God. innocent and uncontaminated children in the world in the midst of an evil generation among which you are seen as bright lights and shining stars God says you are my people, go out and give some spice to a boring and tasteless world, how about if they go to your house? from work and give it some spice, don't just sit and complain about your workplace like everyone else at lunch, be a person you know well, yes you know there are some things that need to change here, but I'm grateful to have a job because you know what, if you don't want yours, someone will take it and if you don't want your husband, some Lone Woman would probably love to have it, would probably take it with stinky feet and all just to have someone that I I mean just having someone to eat with.
Do you know how many lonely people there are in the world? And we got married and on the third day we started trying to rework them and change them. It will not work. Give up, come on, we're having fun. Thank you, okay, I have three scriptures that I want to share with you and I hope and pray that it makes you a little afraid to complain. I think we should be afraid to complain. I mean, it obviously hasn't stopped me completely yet, but you know, maybe tonight will help me. I'm really a grateful and appreciative person, but I find myself.
You know, 1 Corinthians 10, 9 to 11. We are not to tempt the Lord, test his patients and become a test for him, evaluate him critically and exploit his God, look, God is basically saying: I am so good to you, like this that when you complain you are exploiting my kindness like some of them did and were killed by poisonous snakes. He is talking about the Israelites when they were going through the desert. You shouldn't complain dissatisfied either. as some of them did and were completely driven out by the Destroyer who is death 23,000 of them fell dead in one day the serpents entered the camp murmuring, complaining and complaining now thank God we live in the dispensation of Grace but no I don't think we're going to die if we complain, but I do think we block our blessings at least to some extent.
Thank God for his mercy and his goodness is not based on my ability to never complain, but I believe. It is a principle that if we do not learn to live with a grateful heart and above all to be grateful when things do not go as we want and to give thanks not only to God but to people, I tell you, I believe that you can change the environment where you work, you can change the atmosphere in your home you can change the atmosphere in a church maybe in a city maybe even in a nation what if only Christians were grateful that we should be the happiest people on the face of the Earth because We are not going to hell, I mean, that's something we should be grateful for, we're going to miss the whole Brimstone and Fire thing, yeah, thanks, amen, if you're not happy now, you will be, so 23,000 of them died and then. they received a revelation Moses prays for us because we have really sinned.
I wonder what gave you that clue. I think we can at least go to bed at night and ask God to forgive us for any time we complain and murmur during the day. amen now Numbers chapter 14 verses one to six and the whole congregation shouted with the loud boys and cried all night and all the Israelites complained and hated their situation and accused Moses and Aaron whom the cold congregation said we only wish We would have died in Egypt or that we had died in the desert. See, these are the people who were begging God to take them out of slavery in Egypt.
I wonder how many times we pray to God to change our situation and he doesn't take us. route we planned hello you know we don't really want to be transformed we want to be translated some of you don't know the meaning of those two words it's okay to translate for us it means I'm here and suddenly I'm there I can skip the whole step

part

but When you are transformed, God organizes the circumstances that force you to trust Him and stop being independent, stubborn and headstrong, and there is a brokenness that has to occur in our life and only God knows how to break us in the right places where we are not destroyed. our pride breaks our stubbornness come on the Bible says there was a shorter route that God could have taken them to the promised land but he took them a long and difficult road on purpose because they weren't ready for war, you'd say you'd think that when you walk in in the promised land, when you get everything you want, there will be no more trouble from the devil, ha ha, tough, tough, ha ha, now every new level is a new Devil, so we have to learn how to do war and how to face our enemies while we are still in the desert, because each level of new responsibility means that now that I can, you will have new things against you.
I tell you most of it, it just doesn't even bother me anymore, it's like they did it and I know where this is going. Amen. I mean, tonight we laughed. In fact, I told my assistant. I told. Okay, I love you all year this year at this conference. year of touring I want you to take note of every silly, stupid thing that happens to us when we are at conferences and at the end of the year we are going to sit back and laugh out loud and see how many times we did what God did. He sent us to do and defeated the devil.
Amen, so the first conference of the year is about to begin. Dave can't come because he has this thing on his mind and he feels really bad. I started dressing tonight and I'm careful with my clothes. I bring and have so many pairs of black pants it's probably disgusting, but I just bought a lot of black pants and of all the black pants I have, I brought one pair of black pants where I buy my clothes. They hadn't been hemmed, so they were too long and I couldn't wear them, so I took them off andthen I put on another pair of pants, this one is actually really tight because that's what they're supposed to be and I put on another top and it looked great on one side, but then I looked at the other side and it was crisp, so I said Well, that's not going to work, so now we're on to the third outfit and the beautiful jewelry I wore.
I had reserved it to go they left it at home look at all my problems it's terrible but this is what frustrates me I know what time I'm going to go out and I start getting dressed 15 minutes in advance so then when I have to do that I get into this and what the devil is trying to do is bring me here without peace so that I can stand here and say praise the Lord, thank you Jesus, not everything is wonderful tonight and inside I'm sinking, so in the midst of all that I have You keep calm, stay calm, stay safe.
Thank you Lord because I have clothes here with which I can go to the meeting. I just have to find her. Okay, now watch this because it's really good. So verse 3 numbers 14 verse 3 why does the Lord bring us to this land to fall by the sword our wives and our little ones will be afraid, it would be better for us to return to Egypt, so they said to each other, let's choose a captain and let's go back to Egypt, and there are thousands of these people and look. this is the response of the men who became the leaders now come on there is a message here then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before the entire Assembly of the Israelites when they heard the complaints it made them very sad because they understood the danger of what they were doing that, They just fell flat on their faces before God and I'm sure they began to pray that God would forgive him and Joshua, the son of no man, and Caleb, the son of Jephthanah, who were among the explorers who had searched for the land they rented. their clothes were so grieved that they tore their clothes back then, that was a sign of great grief when someone died, they tore their clothes and these are four men that are spoken of in the Bible as heroes, the rest of them. never hear any of that again.
I want to ask you if you want to be talked about as a hero to God or do you just want to get lost somewhere in the desert and maybe end up in heaven, but never do anything here that's going to happen? to count for anything, look, I know that many times we think we are looking for someone, a deep and complicated answer to our intense and complicated burdens. God, what's happening? If you could show me what kind of hierarchical demon this is, good night, would you? stop complaining and be grateful this is something I think about amen oh God what's wrong with my life I don't understand what's wrong with my life God what's wrong with my life my terrible stinky terrible miserable life I hate I wish I had someone else's life God Now, thank you for my life Lord, thank you for everything that has happened to me in my life because I trust you to solve it for the better, you know?
If you are brave enough, you can even thank God for the pain you feel. You're going through what you're going through now, you know why, because when you're hurting, you either go down or you go over, but if you go through, you come to know God in a way that you couldn't have known him without that pain in your life. You may have something in God that no one can take away from you and we can add dry throat to the list. These are good numbers 14, 27 and 28. Thank you, well I would love to teach you the word now.
Okay, this is the icing on the cake. cake right here until when will this evil congregation murmur against me the Lord said I have heard the complaints that the Israelites murmur against me take them out as I live says the Lord what you have said in my ears I will do it to you do we need to chat? We'll talk about that for a few minutes. The

power

of words. Like I said, thank God we live in the dispensation of Grace, but you know, Grace doesn't mean we can act like idiots and get by. That's not what it means.
Not grace. the power to sin and get ahead Grace is the power of not having to sin it is the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives to allow us to do the hard things yes it is God's unmerited favor and I am grateful because although I probably complain in some ways every day that God still blesses me because at least I don't do it on purpose when he condemns me. Now I'm at that point where I'm like oh God, I'm so sorry, forgive me. I God forgive me and only God forgive me for all the complaints that I don't even remember complaining about.
Are you seeing that this is not just a little message about being grateful? Does anyone see the difference? I'm saying this can change your life. and add power to you that you would never have had otherwise, come on, praise God, high praise. Hallelujah, are you focused on your blessings or are you focused on your problems? You know, whatever you focus on, it's what becomes bigger in your life.
