grip

pers are widely used among calisthenics athletes or people who realize the importance of forearm training. are they good or bad? My answer will be yes and no. Why are they good? Because they make your

hand

s work isotonic instead of isometric, but you can also choose to train isometrically with them. Plus, they are small and easy to transport. Why are they bad? Because it is difficult to train your thumbs with them. You can modify the way you use them, but I think there are other ways to work all your fingers at once. So should you use them?

If you want yes. But grinding the manual tweezers won't be enough for the reason I explained before. Should you use them? No. I personally use them as a tool to determine if I am overtrained or not. So what are some alternatives to turning your forearms into firearms? Since most of the world is in some form of lockdown today, I will talk about exercises you can do at home. The first is for both muscles and fingers. Dead man hangs with towels. Using towels as a hanging tool is a very powerful way to condition your lower arms. You need two towels to stick at the entrance.

If you don't know how to tape towels to doors, check out my video on four different ways to do bodyweight exercises at home. Once you stick your towels on the door, the way you

grip

them is important. You may feel pain when gripping them with your thumbs up. But if you grip the towels with your thumbs facing you, it will be a pain-free version. You can adjust the load using your feet. As always, not working the antagonist muscles of the forearm can cause long-term problems. Balancing the extensors and flexors will prevent injuries. There are two exercises I do to condition my forearm extensions.

The first is finger flexion. It doesn't pump your forearm extensors but it conditions your fingers well. Things to pay attention to when doing fingertip pushups. Place the tips of your fingers, not the tips. Keep the tension flowing through your fingers, thumbs and also your wrists. The entire forearm should function as a single unit. Spread your fingers to distribute your weight evenly. The thumb should be placed somewhere behind the second finger and the thumbs should also be straight or slightly arched. Don't move your fingers on the surface, find a place that is not slippery. You can start doing them on the wall and little by little make them more difficult.

Three repetitions of two or three sets is a good starting number. Do not do more than 5 repetitions in a set. Because with

this

exercise you want to condition your fingers. Anything more than 5 repetitions can work your chest and shoulders, which will interfere with your usual overhead push routine. The second is what I call the rival

s exercise. In addition to closing, the fingers must also open. This exercise will

function. You will place the fingers of one hand on top of the other. Thereafter, push your fingers down until they come together. Don't move your hand from your wrists.
Only the fingers should move. From here extend your fingers upwards. You will adjust the difficulty by adjusting the force you apply with your pushing hand. Do it slowly and do it in front of a mirror so you can check your form. You can do 6 to 8 repetitions of 3 or 4 sets. And don't forget to adjust the push down force based on your sets and reps.
