Mar 11, 2024
What is a bargain? Family, welcome back to my channel, so today we will discuss 18

things

to avoid buying a

dollar

tree

recently. Many of you have been sending me this article from kiplinger.com and I actually read it at the time. that came out, so in this video I'm going to go over that article and the

things

they said to avoid. I'm going to say whether I disagree with it or agree with it and actually end up adding some of my own elements. I don't think you should shop at Dollar Tree anymore, the price of everything has gone up and many families have relied on Dollar Tree to stay at that

dollar

price, but with this 25 increase it doesn't sound bad initially.

If you buy one thing, it's only 25 cents more, but if you buy several things that's when it adds up to that 25 cent increase that impacts a lot of people with the way they shop at Dollar Tree. That being said, let's dive right in. One thing on this list was avoiding perishable and non-perishable foods at Dollar Tree and this is a hit and miss for the most part when it comes to brand name foods at Dollar Tree. I avoid buying them at Dollar Tree when they were a dollar and now with the increase of 25 and it all comes down to how many ounces you are paying for the price at Dollar Tree for example they are cereal their cereals tend to come in three ounce bags and now with the 25 cent increase I am paying even more per ounce for the same three ounce bag that I am going to pay a dollar and 25 cents for.

More Interesting Facts About,

18 worst things to buy at dollar tree the truth...

I can go to Walgreens right now and get 11 ounces for a dollar and 99 cents or I can go to Target and get a family size that's 15 ounces and pay 3.59 for the same cereal, I get it, although if you're single and live alone or whatever Maybe you live in a household where not many people eat cereal, that bag might make sense for you because you might not If you want a large amount and you want different varieties at the same time, you couldn't just say avoid all the new brand foods in Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree has big boxes of cereal right now.

You can find frankenberry right now and Boo Berry. It just depends and That's the most important thing when it comes to dollar

tree

cans of fruits and vegetables. They are another item I wouldn't buy at a dollar tree unless they are a giant size, since they cost a dollar and 25 cents. There I could go to Walmart and get them. cans of corn for 50 cents I can go to Target and get them for 55 cents I can go to Aldi and get them for about the same price they're going to have a lot of difficulty, especially in the grocery section, I can buy this for a dollar On target, a Big no-no for me when it comes to shopping at Dollar Tree is liquid detergents.
18 worst things to buy at dollar tree the truth
I know in some cases it makes sense that you live alone, that it is easier for you to go up and down the stairs or that you are going on vacation and that is useful if you buy those little ones at the target, they cost you 2.99, it makes more sense to go to the tree of the dollar in that case, but if you are buying for your family, if you are buying even for a couple, it doesn't work. it makes sense to buy those detergents at Dollar Tree Dollar Tree has detergent tied up, you'll pay a dollar and 25 cents for 10 fluid ounces, that's about 17 cents per fluid ounce and the same tide at Walmart is 11 cents per fluid ounce, that's 3.29 per 31 fluid ounces, so yes, I'm going to pay more up front, but I'm saving money in the long run, same thing with name brand fabric softeners, that's another article.
I wouldn't buy a dollar tree. Bounce sheets cost 15 per dollar and 25 cents overall. has 34 sheets for two dollars or 60 sheets for three dollars and fifty cents when it's off-brand, that's when you can find the best deals because sometimes you can find great hidden gems in the home section of Dollar Tree, but when it comes of brand name stuff, that's where it's kind of hit or miss, let's dig into something I don't necessarily agree with on Kiplinger's website and they were telling you to avoid all generic makeup at Dollar Tree because for example sunscreen they said The spf doesn't work which I understand or the makeup tends to be low quality which I understand but that's not entirely true.
Dollar Tree gets no-name generic products that are amazing. I recently paid a dollar and 25 cents for five. makeup brushes and those same five makeup brushes that I could have paid twelve dollars for on Amazon many times over, products like that people just buy and sell in bulk at a warehouse and put their name on it and, for the most part , they wear brand name makeup. of the makeup that they carry is called brand l.a colors is the name of the makeup brand and that is the biggest one that they carry in the Dollar Tree Elf brand right now they have nyx, which is a brand.
These are brands I am very familiar with. and it takes up most of the beauty section at Dollar Tree, so I wouldn't avoid that beauty section entirely. Another item I didn't buy was idolatry and was on Kiplinger's list. They are vitamins. Consumer reports have shown that dollar store vitamins do not. I always have the amount of nutrients listed and labeled and some vitamins did not dissolve quickly enough for your body to absorb them. I don't buy vitamins at Dollar Tree. I've heard multiple reports that they don't work the same so I prefer Go and buy the store brand at Walmart or Target, for the most part the most popular vitamins like vitamin C and iron you can get a good amount for 3.59.
Something in the article that I don't agree with at all is the part about plastic. food storage at Dollar Tree they said there are no BPA free food storage containers at Dollar Tree and let me tell you for the most part the containers you will find at Dollar Tree without rbpa in the past was like that but this article was written in 2021 and Dollar Tree has long sold BPA free storage containers, the largest Dollar Tree brand of storage containers they carry is safe and fresh and everything I looked at at Dollar Tree had a BPA free label on the front. a Betty Crocker that didn't have it and at that time I wouldn't buy the Betty Crocker to cook food inside.
She would use it to store other things. I've used it before to mix things into that warty food, but I wouldn't buy it to store real food, just look for the bpa-free label. I just want to say that that is not true, that all Dollar Tree containers are bpa free because even they are the ones that are not labeled directly. on it you turn the container over and you can see it on the bottom it says bpa free and in my opinion the food storage containers are some of the best deals you can get at dollar tree even with the markup of 25 toys below.
It's another hit and miss for the most part, in my opinion it's a hit now, the article says it's very rare to find name brand toys at Dollar Tree and that's not true. Dollar Tree over the years has done a great job of bringing brands toys they have a great selection of barbie when I was younger I would have loved to see barbie stuff the barbie brand is not the generic dolls you get at Dollar Tree and those They are terrible, the Barbie dolls or the knockoff Barbie dolls at Dollar Tree are horrible, their legs always break when you move their hands always break when you move them, but for the most part Dollar Tree has amazing brand deals they have the little ones tsum tsums that are Disney characters, but even the Dollar Tree brand toys have gotten better over the years, they have the cutest accessories for the dollhouse.
They always have these cute couches and tubs, but now they're bringing in smaller ones that are absolutely adorable and don't look like they're going to break easily. I've bought Cooper's little animals there and you know they don't look very good, but they cost like four dollars on target and he understands that it's a giraffe and that it's a cow and that he loves them, even though he would never say no. Don't shop in the toy section at Dollar Tree because you know what for the most part I really like is when it's the and you can always tell just by looking at it that it's like Dollar Tree products and you can tell it's going fall. aside like the pegs, sometimes the little robots they have for kids or this like a fishing pole with these little fish, you can tell they're going to fall apart, but you can move a little to the side and then see, hey, look, they have hot wheel.
Cars are the next school supplies and I agree 100 when it comes to school season with that price increase at Dollar Tree, it especially doesn't make sense to go to Dollar Tree for things like crayons and markers especially if you are going to be shopping the Job brand, which is the Dollar Tree brand, they tend to have very poor ink quality, they dry very quickly. I'd rather go to Target or Walmart somewhere else and buy Crayola. It's not the start of the school season right now, so these items. They're not on sale, I can go to Dollar Tree and get 16-count Crayola crayons for a dollar and 25 cents or I can go to Target and get 24 crayons for only 14 cents more, so in my opinion it makes more sense to go to Target, but If it's something last minute, my son wants some crayons, not that I'm going to deny him as long as I can afford them while I'm at Dollar Tree, so I'll say mostly school supplies for most.
Partly I would avoid shopping at Dollar Tree, but when it comes to office supplies they actually have sales, a lot of times you'll find some pens with really cute names that will cost you over a dollar and 25 cents if you get them somewhere else. Dollar Tree has things like paper clips and thumbtacks. I think they can be hit or miss because sometimes the quality of them is good and sometimes not, but they tend to be cheaper at Dollar Tree or I can go to Target and pay a dollar and fifty-three cents for a hundred clips or Walmart where a hundred of them They are worth a dollar and eighty-four cents, that's how it is with Dollar Tree for the most part, in every department you can't say don't shop there, it sucks because there are always hits and misses.
I would say this and this is on the list. The auto section is the section you would see with the most things as a miss versus a hit. It's not too much of a mix. It leans more towards a failure. Kiplinger's website talked about windshield washer fluid that they could pay double the price but get something that actually worked below zero and I don't know how true that is because I haven't seen windshield washer fluid at Dollar Tree in a long time. However, the dollar tree has had antifreeze for a long time and it is a very, very small container, and if you need antifreeze for your car, you will need a lot more than that and you will have to buy it in dollars.
Tree and who knows about the quality so I personally would go to Walmart and buy my antifreeze there for the most part, like I said there are things at Dollar Tree in the auto section that I wouldn't buy. I love the microfiber from Dollar Tree. cloths but I don't like the auto section fiber cloths I'd rather go somewhere else and spend more money on a lot more so in the long run I'll save money and then Dollar Tree toilet paper this is something I'm with 100 agree. with that, you should avoid the Dollar Tree brand at Dollar Tree, first of all, it's such poor quality that you end up using more and then the Scottish brand is four for a dollar, 25 cents, exactly the same.
I can go to Walgreens and still get it. For a dollar, Walmart toilet paper is pretty good, you are paying less per roll in general, you are going to pay more, but in the long run it will last longer and it is simply of better quality, something that goes hand in hand with the paper toilet is paper towels, it's another thing I avoid at Dollar Tree. You pay a dollar and 25 cents for a roll of paper towels, they tend to be very thin and every time I use them I use a lot more than Kirkland which is the Costco brand, but I know with Costco you technically need a membership so let's assume that you are going to Walmart.
Walmart has strong paper towels, six rolls that are comparable to 12 for eight dollars and 42 cents, that's 15 cents more than Dollar Trees paper towels and better quality now we have tools at Dollar Tree and again this is an area that is hit and miss , I think it leans more towards the lady. They are screwdrivers that smell bad, they break very easily but then they have things like mallets on the mallet, I really like it a lot, I have it, in fact one of my favorite things to buy in the tools section are paint brushes and the reason why the one I like is because they are of poor quality, they fray very easily and they are very scarce, so what I do is that I like to use them to paint, I use them with a dry brush and that is because they are not of good quality so they are great for getting a really scratchy look that looks like wood grain, sometimes in that section you can find the name. -Offers from brands like Rust-oleum.
Sometimes it happens that the number one thing on Kiplinger's list not to buy is batteries and that's something I totally agree with, especially with the 25 cent markup that has been shown before that generic batteries can have. leak and damage your devices more than brand name batteries and many batteries at Dollar Tree, if you look closely they say to use them in low power devices so something like a remote control works fine for something like that but if I need batteries for oneof Cooper's toys or one of my electronic devices I'd rather go elsewhere if you have a Costco membership.
I really like Kirkland drums. It costs 13.99 for double batteries and you get 48 good quality batteries. If you don't have a Costco membership, you can shop at Walmart. batteries there yes it will be cheaper to buy them at Dollar Tree but in the long run you will find yourself buying more and more batteries because they run out faster so it is something I completely agree now let me know in the comments below if there is anything in this list what you agree or disagree with, everyone has a different opinion on things just because these are items that me or Kiplinger said they wouldn't buy idolatry that doesn't.
This doesn't mean that anyone else can have a different opinion or a different perspective, so it's always very helpful when others can see other people's opinions on items available at Dollar Tree. Now we're into electronics and as always you can find some deals at Dollar Tree I really like the work lights they have the tap lights but when it comes to phone stuff at Dollar Tree so the phone accessories like the I don't buy the charger or the car one at Dollar Tree. I used to get the cables. At Dollar Tree for my Android, but eventually the quality of them got worse, they are three feet long and just weren't long enough and broke very easily, so I stopped buying them all together now that I have an iPhone and I don't even know if They sell iPhone cables, but I don't buy them there.
Dollar Tree headphones are terrible. It sounds like you're listening to music underwater and your ear feels like it's really close to a shell or something. Avoid phone accessories. I pretty much don't buy phone accessories at Dollar Tree, but I do buy tap lights, like I said, I'll buy a flashlight once in a while. They have flashlights that are amazing. There are products that are great in that section, but avoid them. The phone stuff has phone cases at Dollar Tree and I couldn't tell you if you should avoid them or not because I personally have never used them, so if you have used them before, let me know in the comments below if they work.
Okay, next up, wrapping paper from Dollar Tree and this is it. I agree that Dollar Tree wrapping paper tends to be thinner and tears more easily, but I don't really encounter the occasion where it tears constantly, I mean, it has. but it doesn't happen much and yes you don't get as much probation compared to if you went somewhere else but I think it always depends on the situation if I just need wrapping paper for a birthday party and I'm going to the dollar. I'll buy it at Dollar Tree because it's a good price for what I needed, but if I need a lot of wrapping paper, like most for Christmas, it makes more sense for me to go somewhere else, no matter what prints they have. enter are the cutest so I can't say I necessarily disagree with what they said in this article but I will say that I still like dollar tree wrapping paper as long as you don't need a big roll because like I said , you get a very small roll and yes, it can be broken, but it is not that easy to break, like me, no, no, I don't know what people do, maybe it's just me, there are two elements.
In this list that I purposely saved for last, one of them was jewelry. They said to avoid Dollar Tree jewelry. I don't really come across jewelry at Dollar Tree so I don't have much to say about it because I really don't. Don't get it if it's something disguised, it's not supposed to go in your ears and it's like a bracelet or something, I say, buy it if you want, there's a good chance it'll break, but I think you already know that. when you buy something that is jewelry at Dollar Tree, I just don't come across jewelry often at Dollar Tree, so I'm not really sure why that was in the article, maybe whoever said that sees a lot of jewelry at Dollar Tree and then the last one was beach towels.
I have never seen a beach towel at Dollar Tree in my life. I have seen wipes. I've seen hand towels. I've never seen a beach towel at Dollar Tree. So I left them for less because not. I know what they're talking about, so that's it for me, to dispute or say I agree with some of these things that were on this list. There are pretty much 50 50 my feelings on this list, but like I said, everyone has their own different feelings about Dollar Tree. and what you should buy and to me with the 25 cent increase I feel like the things that were never worth a dollar still aren't worth a dollar and 25 cents and the things that were worth a dollar are still worth the 25 cent increase yeah the increase sucks I wish that everything would still be a dollar, but I'm not going to totally dismiss the dollar tree and say that everything inside the dollar tree is no longer worth it, so I really hope you enjoyed this video, if you do, make sure to give it to him.
