I'm OVERHAULING My Clarks Wallabee Boots

Apr 07, 2024
Alright, we've got my pair of kangaroos here. These things have been popular for decades and in the early 2000s they started to fall out of favor, but they're back and I'll tell you one thing I don't like. about this is that they are online and my toes get really cold in the winter and if I try to wear them, yeah, they start to turn blue, so I'm going to winterize these things so I can keep going through the winter, so Wow, thanks, we don't work on these now. I called other shoe stores and asked if they did this and they said no.

A lot of people have stopped working on these things as we've moved forward. I'll explain some of the reasons why, but uh, yeah, it's a beast, okay, the number one reason I don't like to figure it out is that once you cut it all off, it's still almost melted at the bottom of the shoe. and you can see it. it is sewn, the first layer is stone sewn but it is also glued and for this I basically have to keep getting bits and try to remove them, sanding is also not the best idea so if you are wondering why not just sand it let me show you what will do the sanding, as you can see, you can sand it, but what happens is as you sand it, it goes from a solid piece to these little bits that just melt back together and then dry again. things and you still have to remove them, so basically your only option is to do both, you have to lift up as much as you can and then try to sand the rest, but it just melts as soon as you start gluing it.

I mean, start sanding it foreign foreign I got it out the best I could, it looks like mange, uh, taking that rubber off, but it's good enough that we can start rebuilding it no more, this was a beast to do it, but You know it's not a beast, it's not a hard decision to change a buckle on your belt with dance belts, guys. Anson is a hole-less micro-adjustable belt system and basically what you do is every time you slide your belt, it's built on a track. system and those little tracks are only a quarter of an inch apart, giving you a much better fit with your belt and plus Anson is one size fits all, basically what you do, you wrap the belt around yourself and figure out where it fits best, cuts it. the excess you put on the buckle, close it, Bam, you're done, no more ugly wrinkles or sloppy punch holes.

Now one of the things that I also really like about Anson belts is the interchangeability of them, which means that you can mix and match both the straps and the buckles and they have many different options, for example, some of the straps that you can get They are leather, suede and canvas and then for the buckles, they always have many different styles and colors to choose from. As of now, another thing Anson offers is a high-end Premiere collection. What that means is that they feature genuine crocodile skin and Italian calfskin. They are a little more expensive now, but they are very reasonably priced for a real alligator and also a real alligator.

I know one of the owners personally, he is a fantastic guy. I personally recommend getting the two strap, three buckle box which gives you the possibility of six belt combinations and boy do you get all that. under a hundred dollars overseas it's literally a two piece construction the only stitch is on the back and it's a moccasin style where it's one piece and folds this way it has a little spot through the area of the cane, there is no cane. On these, they said they're just one piece and they're not the warmest things in the world, so I'm going to winterize these things by lining them and using the Sheet tool to make the wall around the toes a little too thick. so it's actually decreasing my shoe size like it's a full size so we have to slim this down what better way with clippers so I want to leave all this to keep the back of my foot warm but I'm thinking in doing it. a high fade, maybe you know, gradually lowering it to one and a half right along the toes and I think it's going to look pretty slick, so now we've got our lining done, we're just going to put a little bit of glue on the outside, glue on the inside and then stick it.
We leave it a little big that way, we can sew and then trim the excess. Well, I already have the lining. I'm going to sew around the neck up here and that's going to hold it in place and then when I put the top piece back on, it's going to tighten everything up here, so foreigner, thank you all now for the sewing material, okay, like this that this is plantation box natural box natural rubber there are different names for it, it has actually become very difficult to find these things and one more reason why many shoemakers no longer stock this type of shoes.
In fact, I had to go all the way to England to find a couple of sheets of this gum. but it's very rubbery, it's real, it comes directly from the sap of a rubber tree and that's why it melts and you just have to attack it and treat it a certain way instead of another type of synthetic rubber, so we're going to cut some soles for this and then we'll continue well to really make sure that this glue sticks, we'll treat it with this type of primer. This primer can be used on natural rubber and there are different primers for different types of materials, you just have to learn as you go and I'm still learning, okay, we'll let it sit for probably about 15 to 30 minutes and then we'll put our glue on.
These are the old templates, it's just a leather board, we're going to make some new ones with vegetable tanning, okay, so you didn't see it, but all I did was glue the base layer on, as you may remember, this was the template Stitch, so Let's sew this and then we'll glue the piece and the rest to build it. Alien Alien Jesus, okay, time to clean up these tops a little. You don't see me doing this very often, so soak it up. You know you may not get this again, thank you, this is an old type of leather, so that's the reason we are using this bowl conditioner.
You know, this conditioner smells like a foreign cherry coat. First we wrapped this pair of kangaroos. I want to tell you to remember that the iron man sandals are coming back. They all asked for it again and again when they brought them back to the United States. Well, we did, so we dived into that pond and now we're in the process. to build them, the main launch will be in a couple of weeks and we, uh, we are manufacturing them right here in our facility, so in Tennessee you asked for it, we did it all right now with these things, these things were the Heck, uh, I understand why shoemakers no longer accept these things.
You probably saw what he was saying on that thing. All the rubber residue that was melting in it, a large amount of it was absorbed by the machine. I thought about throwing. If you take it out and create this big old rubber ball, you can see how much it comes off just by sanding it, so if you really look at it and when we turn this thing over, you can see it's not the cleanest around the edge, but I know what it'll tell you. Anyone who has this pair of shoes as soon as you wear them outside they get dirty so I'm not too worried about them, they were pretty clean just some little flecks of melted rubber in there that I was able to get out.
Taking them off but it will take a while They weren't the most fun things to do, but what excites me is that I can wear them in winter without my toes turning blue, so we lined them with cheap wool. We actually had to cut it down a little bit, it was too thick and it was reducing the size of the shoe, so in order to put my coagulation hoppers in there I had to lower that wall a little bit, but I slipped. They're on, they're comfortable, I'm happy and I hope you enjoyed this video until next time, have a good time abroad.
