RV Renovation Timelapse from Beginning to End

Apr 25, 2024
If you've ever wondered what 3 months of work looks like condensed into about 45 minutes, this will be the video for you, so I noticed that most of you have seen this

renovation

and the demo series, um, I No. I really told you a lot about this caravan. This is a 2009 North Trail that I actually bought from someone who had originally contacted me for help with water damage in the bathroom, and then I guess it ended up being more. work than I wanted to put in and he finally sold me this camper for $2,600 and if I'm 100% honest with you, I thought it was a good deal, even given the amount of water damage this trailer had.
rv renovation timelapse from beginning to end
It has more water damage than I originally anticipated, but overall I'm not too mad about it because sometimes it's easier to repair large sections of water damage than it is to repair small sections of water damage now. I think the demolition part of any

renovation

is probably the most satisfying part for me because I really like to see how everything turns out and just give it a blank slate and if you've seen any of my stuff you know that I don't normally reuse most of it. the stuff in the caravans, it's rubbish anyway, some of the ways things are built, no, no, I don't like it, I'm not happy with it, sometimes they do a shit job. putting out different supplies for the campers and I like to rebuild it better than the manufacturer originally built it, so that's where you'll see me do a lot of things here.

More Interesting Facts About,

rv renovation timelapse from beginning to end...

I don't know if you can tell from this image or this video. Right here but this bathroom was the worst water damage I have ever seen in a bathroom or floor in general, everything was completely rotted. I couldn't even step on it because it was so rotten I would literally fall off. now this front wall was pretty bad too uh yeah you see it, it just pops up there, it was super gross. Now I was 100% expecting this because I could clearly see from the outside that this delamination was severe and, uh, this is actually very common on these types of caravans because of the way they line the roof and the roof membrane, they actually put it under the fiberglass and instead of putting it on top of the fiberglass, so when you have a roof leak, all the water just runs down the front. on the wall and on the floor, which is pretty much what happened in this case and you can see exactly how far the water damage went.
rv renovation timelapse from beginning to end
There's even water damage on this slide that I didn't see coming, but that's okay, I'm not mad. about it because that gave me the opportunity to do something different. Now I'm not really going to go into how all of this is fixed because if you want deeper conversations about that, I have all of this basically separated into different videos. and you can go back and see them, this is pretty much a time lapse and I'll tell you more about this caravan, my vision and I'll even go over the cost, um, and I'll go over the client's story and how I sold it and how much I sold it for now. .

I will say this was a bit of a surprise to me because I hadn't repaired a camper that had a floor like this so I was kind of digging trying to figure out how I could get this floor up with as little effort as possible and I was a little frustrated at first because it didn't work. I realized that it could all come up on one sheet and once I realized it was like plywood like E8. one inch plywood sandwich between foam and another piece of plywood on top, it became a lot easier to remove that floor, so now that I know I cut everything out and now the floor can come up, um um, so I'm going to rebuild everything This, obviously, and there is the most vulnerable part of the caravan, if you are ever curious what it looks like, here is this bathroom, here you will see how bad it is.
I mean, I can break those things with my bare hands, this was definitely a little tricky with all the pipes right there and the holding tank being there too. I've also never repaired a floor with the black water tank in the bathroom exactly like that with a flange sticking out so it took a little bit of thinking on my part to figure out how I was going to fix that without replacing the flange there um or without damaging the tank. itself because it's so easy to just screw on, not screw on, but like cut too much and um go through the floor, this awning fabric was garbage too, so I thought I had to take the whole roof off anyway, so the awning goes to go, the roof is practically going to go, there was water damage on the back of the roof, so normally every time you replace a roof, which is always the case, there has never been any occasion where I have renovated a RV and haven't replaced the roof, so if you're thinking about renovating your own RV, keep that in mind, especially if you're selling it to someone.
I don't feel right selling a renovated RV without fixing the leak issues and giving it a new roof because I feel like if someone is going to pay for a renovated RB RV it better be top notch and that's just my personal opinion um, I know a lot of other influencers who sell RVs that practically put lipstick on a pig and that's not really my thing, um, so if that's what you're planning on doing, this probably isn't the series for you. Be honest with you because I probably go a little further than most people would, but that's because I like things done right.
I think there is an order in how it is renewed and an order in how things are done and the same thing. In life there is an order to life and there is an order in which things go and if you don't do everything in the right order, sometimes you can think of something that is really your best work or the best plan now, given that, um, I will say that I really like the work on the roof. I don't know why I like roof work. I'm killing my knees working on the roof, but I think it's a lot of fun to rebuild something that was completely trashed before and I get this question too.
Many times there is a time when an RV has too much water damage and my answer is absolutely yes for me because I have had some campers that have reached my limit of sanity because of the amount of water damage it has, um, this would be one of those campers, but I was already too far into it when I realized how bad it was and then I thought, you know, this will be a good learning experience because I want to show the world what it looks like. like um and if you get discouraged like a lot of people do, especially if you're fixing your own RV, it's possible um you just have to be determined enough and have enough sanity to be able to do it right now.
What I really didn't like about this RV is the fact that it had 8's of plywood on the roof, so I went ahead and added another layer of 8's of plywood, that way it was at least a/4 thick. It's still not the best, but you know, that's how they made it and that's what we're working with, so after I cross out all the holes for this, I can put the new skin on this PVC membrane, and I really like it. Because it has a 10 year warranty and is different than many of the other types of roof, if it really breaks you can get a patch from the same roof covering and you can actually create a PVC patch for this which is as good as anything, and that's ideal if you ever have a hole in the ceiling.
Now the entire front of this caravan also needed to be removed because it was pretty bad and as you can see it is quite easy to remove the front of the caravan. I think a lot of people are surprised at how easy these things are to take apart, but it's literally just a casing that has a couple of screws on the side, maybe even stapled and maybe not even screws, that secures it to the front of the caravan and Then once it's off, I can go ahead and rebuild it and put it back on. I'm sorry if you hear my kids screaming occasionally in the background, it happens a lot in my house.
I have three children, which is part of the reason. It takes me a long time to do things. I also homeschool my three kids, which is another reason why it takes me so long to get things done, so my house is usually always very loud and very chaotic, so a little backstory. about how this caravan ended up for a client, so I actually bought this caravan with the intention of flipping it. I haven't done a lap in a long time, most of my work last year was just for clients which is great because that means I don't have the upfront cost or investment of buying a caravan and then paying to renovate it, for me or through my business, so it's been great not to have that burden, but at the same time I couldn't let this go. opportunity so I jumped on it so quickly a couple of weeks it actually sat in my yard for maybe a month before I got to it because I was finishing a horse trailer conversion for another client before I could even think about getting there to this, I thought.
It was already leaking and honestly it couldn't be much worse than this caravan was before, so I thought, "I'm going to let it sit, I'm not going to mess with it until I have time to get there now." I have a very, very good friend close to me and she called me to come look at a camper they bought and she had so much water damage to this camper that she was one, I think she had three slides. outs maybe on it, I mean it was a pretty decent sized camper, he got it for a good price, um, and it was a fiberglass camper like this one, but the problem is it had a lot of water damage everywhere and it is very difficult to fix the water. damage to delaminated caravans like this one.
I'll say it a million times. Campers that have aluminum siding are much easier to fix than campers like this one, which are basically constructed of foam. Now she asked me for a quote to repair the water damage on that and I told her I was like look at the amount of money you're going to have to invest in this to fix it it's just not worth your investment um and then I told her just do it. she would cut her losses, sell it and find something else that she could spend her money better on and get more quality and she actually took my advice so she sold that camper um and then when I bought this one I had no intention of selling it.
You told them, but the more I had it in my yard and the more I thought about it and prayed, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me that this caravan needed to go to them, so from that point. I had it in my mind that he was building this caravan and renovating it for them. Now they didn't know this at the time, which is kind of funny. I waited quite a while before telling them I was renovating this camper. them, um, because I already knew what their budget was, um, and it wasn't even close to what I could sell this camper for um, so I knew I was going to take a hit on the price right now, but I just know how God works and he always brings me the money in the long run and always blesses me when I obey him, so I'm not really worried about that, so anyway that's most of the backstory of how this ended. being a camper client um and I honestly don't regret her having this camper maybe we'll see it was November um when she came and picked it up so she had it for a while and they've been on her trips.
They are already enjoying it and I love that it turned out for them because I love her family and I feel like the Holy Spirit really knew what he was doing when he told me that this caravan was going to be for them. It was also a really cool twist because she was going through a little bit of a transition too, so she used to or still does, she owns the coffee shop that's right down the street from me and that's how I met her. I started going. there and having coffee, um and then our church started a kindergarten, so it's like a Christian education and she actually decided to take a job as the new principal there, so she was kind of transitioning from, you know, working full time in the cafe. place so far being in charge of a Christian kindergarten education, which is a huge thing, so it was a great trans.
Me and God used me to bless her through that and through her obedience, so I was obedient, she was obedient and I feel like it really worked out in everyone's favor, so it was great, well, now back to this caravan here. I know you've probably seen me touch a lot of bugs and stuff like that, but I really like to include some of that stuff because um, you guys probably don't know this because you don't know me, but I like bugs, I like snakes, I think they're all really cool, cool, I was obsessed with hamsters, rats and rodents growing up like I always had one. um, so I guess that's ATT proof of my super weird personality. um, so if there's any doubt that I've always been weird, just look back at my childhood, and I assure you I've always been weird, now that this slide was.
Pretty bad right here, um, but I was actually really excited that this was so rotten because it gave me a chance to rebuild it and that's exactly what I did, so um, I don't know if you guys remember, but at first, ooh , there is a Sorry, at first it was like a dining room, like a strange dining room, andNow I'm turning it into a sofa, which is great. Now one thing I will suggest if you are going to try to renovate a caravan yourself is to have help because I did this whole renovation myself and it makes things a lot easier especially when you are putting an awning back on.
To have two people, it will probably take you twice as long as well, but it takes me quite a while to do it. things anyway so I don't know if that really says much. I also know how my brain works and I have a hard time working with other people. There are specific people I'm really good at working with, but there are other people I'm not so good with because it frustrates me. when someone is not detail oriented and I have to go back and redo work that was supposed to be done right the first time, then my brain is very OCD when it comes to certain things, especially when it's something that matters like electrical or framing or plumbing or anything else like that, my brain just works on a different level than some people and maybe that's a good thing, maybe that's a bad thing.
I don't really know, but I like to try to do my best work and something like that. What I have learned along the way is that if you don't do it right the first time you will regret it and for the people who say no I won't regret it, yes you will, you absolutely will and I speak from experience staff. I remember one caravan specifically, this was the one that made me rethink that any caravan can be saved and the slide had quite significant damage so instead I didn't want to have to take the slide out of the camper and so I repaired it in a way that I thought it was going to be fine and then when I put it in when I was done with the renovation and I slid the camper um or I slid the slide in and out, I noticed that one side of the slide looked like it was falling off and it's because the bracket which I thought was good wasn't good and I ended up having to take the slide out, open the wall and repair it like it should have been repaired in the first place and put everything back together so I hope that's a lesson to you.
Do the hard thing now that you've got it. And in this case, this was a difficult thing, there was a significant amount of this floor that needed to be repaired and I knew that this was my only chance to do it because it was already separated. I already had all the cabinets out. I didn't want to have to do it halfway and then come back and something else goes wrong. So this is a good lesson. don't try to skimp don't try to do things quickly you need to do it right or you'll just have several problems later it's always very frustrating for me to see other people do this I don't repair water damage because it's not even just the damage done because of the water what bothers me, it's the mold in the camper that doesn't get fixed, they just like to paint it or try to patch it with something, um and that's just not the right way to do it and it will be bad for whoever I bought it for the long term.
Now there are a couple more things I want to talk about regarding RV renovations. Let's say you're embarking on renovating an RV for the first time, there are a lot of things you really need to know and understand about campers before you can begin the renovation process. It's one thing if you find water damage that needs to be addressed before anything else can be done. I call this. coming full circle you are basically taking the caravan to where everything is fixed, everything is functional and then you are ready for renovation, so the water damage needs to be repaired before you can do anything else because you're going to have to take out a lot of things to repair water damage depending on where the water damage is.
In this case, the water damage was practically everywhere. I pretty much took out the entire floor of this camper, um and the front wall and the entire back wall came out as well, so this one had a significant amount and there was also a bird in this fun camper story. I actually had to wait to put the floor in until the birds hatched and flew away, so it was a little bit um, kind of a waiting job right there because it took them quite a while to finally fly the coupe, okay, anyway Anyway, back to what I was saying, um, so again I definitely need to repair the water damage first um, I've seen so many people that I don't do that and I'm embarrassed, but it's also one of those things like who am I? to report these people who are selling these refurbished RVs and not using the right products and the right methods and the right supplies, just everything? and I'm not saying it's perfect.
I've definitely learned a lot over the last few years about what to use in RVs and what not to use, but there are some things I stay away from, anything at all. Peel and stick is going to be one of those things and if you've seen me in any type of content, I hope I've covered the fact that I can't stand peel and stick either on wallpaper or as adhesive pad for a backsplash. it will always fall off um I don't care what you tell me the heat the extreme temperatures what some people look like oh I've had it there for 3 years and it's worked great really or have you had to go in and rub it constantly your hand to stick it, it may not have completely come off the wall, but you have to touch it and stick it every time you pass by.
Let's also not talk about the yellowing and discoloration of sticky tiles. I've had that happen to me too, so from now on I'll stay away from anything that peels and sticks, it's not worth it for me, also about paint and primer, and a lot of things about paint and primer, so if you don't do this correctly. This is going to be a big task for you and the main thing is to use the right type of primer and let it dry long enough because if you don't it will scratch and the paint won't come off. Keep going and it will be bad and you will regret every decision you made when it comes to renovating caravans.
I personally like to use Kill's Primer. I've had a lot of success with it and you have to leave it. cure for at least 24 hours, preferably two or 3 days. I did this in the summer and it cures much faster when it's warmer outside, so keep it in the back of your brain, another thing I also like to do when renovating. Campers build an entertainment center, um, and I don't know why campers don't come with pre-built ENT entertainment centers like this because they're so nice and, seriously, there's nothing better than a good fireplace and a good TV when it's So.
It's cold outside and you're camping, it's literally one of my favorite things, so I knew I was going to make an entertainment center here. I usually make them in front of the bed, but with the layout, the layout just didn't allow for it. for that and there was already kind of a little entertainment center right here, so I thought, you know what looks like a good place for it? And I usually put a 40-inch TV in there too, but with the wall space I had. here I can only do this like 36 maybe 37 so it's a little bit smaller TV but still big for a camper and also as a side note if you have any questions about what supplies I used or materials or anything else like that . so most of the materials and accessories and all that, water repair, water damage repair supplies, plumbing supplies, they're also in the roofing supplies.
I have all of that linked in my Amazon store, so it'll be a really good resource if you watch one of my videos and say, "Hey, I wonder what he's wearing there." Head there and check it out. I have everything linked from this specific renovation as far as lumber and supplies. I mainly use 2x4s and a few lots of pine boards. of 8 inch plywood sheets and some 716 OSB for a few other random things, but as always, if you're not covered by any of them, feel free to comment and ask me. I try really hard to respond to comments, but sometimes my ADHD kicks in and I just lose count, so if I don't respond the first time, ask me again, but I try really hard to respond when I see it, because sometimes I just I mean, don't forget that I have three children that I study at home, okay, I have my own business, I make sourdough and in the summer I have my own garden.
I do a lot of things besides fixing all the things that break in my house, or any of my friends fixing things. I need to fix it, they call me too, so my brain has like 70,000 tabs open at any given time anyway, if there are any questions related to RV renovation or water damage that you guys have, feel free to comment below and I will do that. I will do my best to answer them. You can also send me an email. My email is at camping gmail.com, and I'm pretty sure you can find that email anywhere in my link tree, which should be linked in my channel bio.
Check out all the resources I have there, because you might be interested in any of them. I also just published a used RV buying guide to avoid all water damage, so if you found that, you guys would. I find it useful, just check it out. I included plenty of pictures so you can see specifically what you're going to look for when purchasing a used RV so you don't end up with an RV that has a lot of water in it. damages like this do um very specific things to look for um wall textures all those good things um things to check you know, ceiling all those things are there um so it's $25 I'll just warn you um but that's going to basically support my business in the months when I can't renovate the caravans because I'm homeschooling my kids, so you should know that when you pay I'm not trying to scam you or get rich off of it because obviously I don't think a lot of people are interested in it, um, but it's enough to float my business in the slow seasons.
Now, another question that I get asked a lot and I haven't answered this question to anyone yet, um, because I was kind of saving it for my final Reveal video here's how much does it actually cost to renovate an RV and I also think the answer depends on each person, uh personally I think the cost is a lot higher than those would expect but it's because of the quality of the products that I use now you see some people that literally spray paint everything including the lights they remove everything everything the paint on spray coated, they use the cheapest props possible, like they just want this to look good but it's not actually pretty and that's something you'll never see me doing um just because I don't believe in doing things halfway, I think I really It would bother me and it bothers me not to wear something that I know is going to last because when you really think about it, it's my name on the line, if I don't do a good job and if I don't put in the effort and the money to make this last, in My reputation is actually at stake because then I'm going to be like oh Heather uses cheap materials Heather does this Heather does that and I don't want any of my clients to feel like the reason I do what I do is because I'm trying to taking the cheap way because I realize In the long scheme of things, sometimes the cheap way is not the best way and I have learned this the hard way when renovating several RVs.
I also learned the hard way when it comes to fixing vehicles, so my husband really likes it. um diesel trucks and it's my fault because when I wanted to upgrade to a fifth whale I was like, Hey, we're going to need a diesel truck and he's like, I don't know if I want a diesel truck. Well, we have a diesel truck, it was literally the love of his life. Okay, I loved that truck so much and I don't know if you guys know anything about Ford, but it was a 2005 F250 that had a 6o diesel and my husband.
I loved the sound of that 6o, okay, it was like every time he turned it on you could see him smile at the way it sounded, um and anyway, if you know anything about Sixo, they're famous for blown head gaskets and Unfortunately, even though we got a really good deal on this truck, it had a blown head gasket, but we didn't know until we started towing it because the guy we bought it from only nose to nose and it was very light. so I wouldn't have seen it even if I knew the head gasket had blown for a while, I didn't notice it, whatever it was, it's okay, we got it for such a good price that it was worth it for me to take the engine out . and rebuild it and that's exactly what I did and anyone who knows anything about how the engine works knows that when you're that deep into a project, it's one of those I might as well replace it while I'm here, that kind of thing, especially like until I get to the rod and the main bearings, it's best to replace them while we're here, we already took it out, so pretty much all of you know, all new sensors, all new literally everything I spent.
A lot of money went into that truck fixing it up and rebuilding it and then it ran great and towed our camper perfectly and then a couple, let's see, probablyIt was 6 weeks later, someone pulled up in front of my husband and the truck was totaled, so yeah, I learned. There's a lot of lessons on that, um, but I like to apply the same philosophy here because you're already so into this, you better get it right, um, and you can also put it back any way you want. Remember also and that's exactly part of the reason I built the shower this way because it's always bothered me that RVs don't have residential showers like we have in our house and I wanted this to be pretty much the same.
Feel like that, so I built this setup exactly like you would have a shower in your house and I built it as big as possible because if you remember, it was a corner shower and it was super small and there was a lot of wasted space on the left side one, like this I thought: you know? I'm going to build a bigger shower, why not? I already have everything, so I bought the largest shower tray I could fit that size and I gave it a try. I installed all new water lines, all new fixtures, new everything, everything for the shower and this shower is going to look really great because I put vinyl tiles for the wall, they're like marble tiles and they look so cool and it's so wonderful and this is another one of those projects that many will see like Instagram or Tik Tok influencers do and add these Palisade paliside tiles in your caravan um and I know you guys have heard it.
I say this a million times too, the reason I don't like the way they do it is because they don't waterproof the shower before they tile and it's just a leak waiting to happen, so two steps of protection. especially if you are changing something on an RV you want to make sure you don't create more points for leaks, you want to make sure you are doing it correctly and that it won't cause more damage. in the camper then it's really worth it so my ADHD took over right there but I know I was getting back to the point of how much did this really cost so in total I paid $2,600 for this camper and I probably spent maybe $6 or $7,000 to renovate it, which is not as much as I usually spend.
I normally spent about $10,000 total, but I was trying to do this once again on a budget and still having quality supplies, so I sacrificed some of the designs. what I wanted to do with this because I was trying to keep it on budget and I ended up selling this camper for $10,500 so I didn't really make much money on it and they ended up giving me extra, um, but I knew what their budget was and I knew that this was supposed to be It was my client I'm talking about, I knew this was supposed to be his caravan, um, so even though I didn't really make any money from it um, no big deal, it'll come back to me, it's always like that, um God always provides for our family and I am not worried about the cost or time because it was time well spent glorifying God with the gifts he has given me.
Me, so I'm not mad about it, it also helps that you guys have been watching these shows because last year was the first year I got monetized on YouTube, and when you guys watch these videos, I get money for it. which has been a really good passive income, especially that's what's been floating around in the revamp right now is the money that I get from YouTube, because you know, I just started my business even though I've been doing it for a long time. a while I started it, it's been about a year and I don't really have much money saved in my business account just because I spent it renovating this camper and then I just use YouTube money to float me. anything else I needed to buy until it was time for my client to come pick up this caravan, so thank you all for those of you who have been watching all of these series and really, those of you who have been with me since then. the

beginning

um I know there are a lot of you and I see your comments and I really appreciate you and I appreciate your support um and I appreciate the time that you take during the day to watch my videos because I understand that time is valuable and there are other things that you could do with your time besides watching me so I just want to thank you all so I'm sorry this video is like 45 minutes long but I feel like I sped it up as much as I could without missing anything and what I didn't realize is that there was a lot of footage to sort through before editing it, this was like, oh it was a lot, it was like 10 hours of footage or something and those were all edited videos that I had already uploaded to YouTube, so it was quite a lot, but it's okay because it's great to still see everything in one, especially when we get to This Point, this was the renewal series that started a while ago, but to see everything finally come back together and in its perfect form here is really cool.
I don't know about you, but for me, this is the part that gets me excited and I know some people have commented that they have a hard time getting burned out on renewals and I feel like that's completely normal and I don't want people to think that just because I do this to earn life doesn't mean I don't burn out because I absolutely do and that's why I jump around a lot of different things because I start doing one thing and then I get frustrated and burned out doing that thing and I have to move. to something different, um, like this couch here.
I must have moved on and come back to this couch about 10 times because I got frustrated with how it worked and moved, um, and then I got burned out, honestly, and if I wait long enough if I run out on something. Usually if I wait and come back to it, my mind is fresh, so if you get to a point where you're exhausted, just take a break, it's okay. a break, you'll stay there, that's fine, but you know what you need that mental space and that break to do your best work, whether it's that or you just need a sandwich because I know sometimes I'm really hungry and then my brain doesn't work and sometimes Sometimes I just need a sandwich, sometimes it's as simple as that or I could burn myself, it could be one of two things and I also think it's one of the things that not only excites me but also frustrates me about all the different aspects of renovation. of a mobile home.
This upholstery here is something I really had to learn and master before I could make it look decent. I mean, I know I make it look easy, but I feel like I've upholstered so many things over the years that I know how it works in my brain and now I can make it all work together and I tell people all the time they ask me: you know why? you choose RVs, why did you do that? And I, actually, it's because you have to learn how to be a plumber, how to be an electrician, you have to learn how to frame, you have to learn cabinets, there's a lot of different aspects to renovating an RV the right way.
I think that's often overlooked because it's not just the physical aspect for me. I'm also very concerned about the functionality and mechanics of the RV itself. I don't just focus on making it look pretty. I concentrate. on the entire RV as one unit, that means I make sure everything is working properly, if something isn't working I fix it, I've had a lot of boilers break, I've had a lot of hot water. broken heaters um a lot of air conditioners broke and sometimes it's simple sometimes it's not but those are the things that I care about too because I know that when this RV comes home to its new customer and if something like that breaks then I'll be I'll feel responsible for it, and maybe that's the part of me that's not a very good business owner, but for me it's not about making money, obviously, because if it was, I'd probably be rich by now, but already You know.
It's not like that, but it's about connecting with people and giving them a safe place to be, somewhere that can bring them joy and you know, it gives me the opportunity to have conversations with them that I wouldn't normally have. other people um and when someone learns about me I hope that maybe one day it will lead them to learn more about Jesus um and that's obviously the ultimate goal for me is to love people and show them the love of Jesus and I know that I'm probably going to lose followers so I lose followers every time I talk about how much I love Jesus, but that brings me to the reason why I started renovating RVs and started doing this in the first place, and really how I became.
I'm also very popular on Instagram, um, so if you haven't seen me on Instagram, head over there. I have 120,000 followers and I'm growing, and that was really in the last year that my Instagram blew up, um, and that was when when I had this cool realization that the gifts that I have are not for me to waste there for me to use the gifts. that I have to glorify God in everything I do and just because I'm here in my shop just building things and fixing things that doesn't mean I can't use that time to worship and glorify God and that's why I had this great realization where I thought, hey, these are the gifts I have and can use. them with a purpose and once that clicked in my head that these gifts that I have and these talents that I have came from God, then I gained 100,000 followers overnight, which is really crazy and crazy.
I just had a real viralization. all of a sudden, after it had been posted for like three months, it suddenly went viral, um, and that was really the

beginning

of how I started doing it, you know, YouTube and Tik Tok and all that, and I also get asked a lot how . Did you start doing this because, believe it or not, you didn't naturally know how to do all of these things? They were skills that were learned over the years. My dad is actually one of those guys that he knows. everything about everything and I pretty much learned most of what I know from him, but I think the biggest skill he's taught me is critical thinking and I've always admired how you can just look at something and figure out how it works and how it comes back together and , um, he taught me that you can apply the same principle to almost anything if you figure out how something works or if you figure out the pattern or if you figure out what the system is, then you can figure it out. figuring out how to fix it because once you know how something works you can quickly figure out what doesn't work and that's a skill that I think is very useful now and a skill that I'm trying to teach my kids in a time where critical thinking is already doesn't exist and I also learned a long time ago to ask questions, it's okay to ask questions, I ask a lot of questions, anyone who knows me knows that I'm always asking questions because I always want to know more about something, um and I really like it and I really love being able to call to my dad with any question he has and he knows the answer to almost every one of them, and if he doesn't he doesn't.
He says well, I'll go find out just like that, if you knew my dad you would laugh that I said it like that, but anyway he will always answer the phone when I call him, even if I call him 75 times a day, he will do it. He answers the phone and answers any silly, ridiculous question he has, so find yourself someone who knows a lot about a lot of things and just constantly irritate him and force him to love you, so that's my advice if you want to learn how to do it. This now that you know that not only did I learn all this alone, you know because I was intelligent, I assure you that I am not, I am just very teachable and I think it is very important to be a teachable person and not be offended if you do something wrong and someone tells you what you are doing. something wrong because there are a lot of people in the world who know how to do things better than you and that's okay because no one said you had to be good at everything.
It's okay to learn new things, it's okay to make mistakes and it's okay to admit that you've made mistakes. I've made mistakes because if you make a mistake, that means you have a chance to do better next time, and I feel like that's a skill. That's dying nowadays, unfortunately, it's because people resent Ed so much for everything. I always tell people when I meet them or when there is a very tense situation that I am the least offensive person you will ever meet. I might get like that. like irritated by something but as far as offended I understand that I don't know everything and I understand that there will always be someone in the world who can do it better than me and I'm perfectly fine with that because I have a set of skills, a set of skills unique and, um, I don't know, I just like what I do and I like to learn new things and I feel like everyone should be like that because you know there may come a day when we would have to use these skills, um, I don't know how to barter, if you want, because you never know, with the world we live in, okay, so I feel like I've talked about a lot of different things than I've talked about. products I've talked about what I do how I do it where I learned it how much it cost supplies all kinds of things um and the main thing that I want you to take away from this renovation um first of all is that I'm a real person despite how some people in line can see me, I assure you that I am a real person, and you know, I see a lot of the comments that people have and you know that a lot of the comments that people make are not that nice and, if there is a lesson for anyone who is renovating an RV and putting it online, if you do it right, give yourself some Grace because even people who are really good at what they do will always be ridiculed. so keep that in the back of your mind, because there will always be someone who thinks he can do better even though he has absolutely noability or experience in doing what you're doing, I just don't do it.
Get people in sometimes and give yourself a little Grace, especially because this is a big task for you to do, especially if you do it with the intention of it lasting and being better than the manufacturer makes them. We're going to spend a lot of time and energy on a renovation and that's something I don't think most people see. There are some really good renovators out there. I follow them and I am always surprised by the detail they put into things and the love they put into their caravans and I have always been very impressed with them, one of my favorite renovators on Instagram.
Its name is renovated camping and I remember when I started doing this like I had no followers I was just the girl who fixed water damage no one cared about me for anything other than helping people fix campers water damaged, which is still Why a lot of people come to me, but I only remember reaching out to them because I had approached a lot of other big influencers when I started and none of them would give me the time of day, I don't know if. they just saw me as competition um or they just thought I was never going to do anything with my life or they literally didn't even or maybe they didn't even see my message because you know that's a possibility too um but I just remember that I contacted them, you know. , with some logistical issues about how to get insurance and my business and other things like that and they were very nice and very helpful to me when I was a nobody, um, and I'm still a nobody, but now I'm just a nobody with a lot of followers, so go and follow them because they do amazing work there like it's really top notch and they're one of my favorite influencers to watch. when they show up on my feed just because I know they do quality work and it's beautiful, it's amazing and what I won't tell you is that all the influencers who have a lot of followers on any other platform do a terrible job.
I hope that people who actually know something about Campers or how to prevent water damage or anything else like that look at people and realize that they are giving terrible advice, but it's not my place to criticize anyone because that's not the case. what I do and that's not what it's about anyway, it's almost to the end of this video and I'm so sorry to those of you who think the sound of my voice is annoying because you've just heard it in the past. 47 minutes and I apologize. I thought about just putting some music on here, but every time I put music on it I have to buy the copyright license and then YouTube flags it and then it's like something I've had.
A lot of similar things on YouTube get flagged because there was music in them, um, even though the people I made the video licensed for it, but they were still like, oh, anyway, it's copyrighted, that's why I didn't make it. that, um also. There were a lot of things I wanted to tell you about this renovation and I feel like I usually don't get the chance to tell you when I make these how-to videos because I'm too focused on telling you. how to do something versus how I feel about things and while it's important to know how to do something, there are also a lot of other important things you should know about renovating an RV2 that I hope I covered in this very long video.
So now that we're almost at the end and you can see it finally coming together, please let me know what you think about the final reveal and transformation. I love how it came together, the design is so much better, the style. it's so much better um I just feel like it's more spacious and more homey and um my client absolutely loved it like she loved it so much um I didn't record it and I feel like maybe I should have, but I thought it was such a personal moment that I didn't want it to be It felt intrusive, so I didn't do it, but she cried when she came in, she loved it, and she actually lives right down the street from me, so I get to see it every time.
I drive by her house and realize that she loves it as much as I do and that all the hard work was worth it, and we'll see what God has in store for me next time because as of right now I'm not entirely sure what do with my business because I finished this in November, it's now January and my kids don't get out of school until April, so technically I could do another renovation in April if I wanted to, but I'm also really enjoying spending time with my kids and going on trips. and homeschooling and just enjoying being together, which is definitely a different pace for me because this is my first year of homeschooling with all my kids at home, so I really enjoyed it. that's more than I really thought because let me tell you I enjoyed being home alone so this is the final reveal here and it turned out so beautiful and amazing and that's it guys I mean I hope you did.
I enjoyed this again. I have all of this stuff linked in my Amazon store, if you want to check it out, at least look at that link tree that's in my profile so you can see what other resources I have there for you, because I actually do this and record all of this for that you guys don't make the same mistakes that I made in the beginning, so I really hope this is useful to you, and I really thank you for watching my videos and supporting me
