Mar 16, 2024
Hi, I'm Rachel and these are Rachel's roast sticks, welcome or welcome back to my channel. I create rustic farmhouse crafts. I create functional seasonal and year-round crafts, if that's something you enjoy, stick around, let's get into the video, okay, here it is. a wooden round that I bought at Dollar Tree and I'm going to use Waverly ivory chalk paint and I'm going to give it two coats of that paint. I'm doing a really rough layer that I'm not trying to do. It's perfect, it'll save me a little bit of sanding at the end so I don't have a full brush or completely dry, but enough to get there but not cover everything and then I have a couple. of those hairs or whatever they're called coming out of the brush, so I picked them up real quick, okay, and then I used my heat tool and then I did a second layer like I said, but I didn't do that on camera. and then I use a higher grit sandpaper so I can get a smoother surface because I'm going to put vinyl over this so I wanted to make sure there was a really level surface and then I wipe it off with a small towel. and also on the right, you can see it's like a little vacuum so I use that as well to get all the dust out and I've already printed my vinyls and I'm grabbing the Cricut transfer tape. and I just held it against the vinyl to make sure it was the right size and then I started removing the vinyl.

This is my favorite part of many videos. I enjoy seeing it very satisfying and just use it. my scissors to make it a little bit easier, you know, because some of the pieces will come off while you're weeding if you're not careful, so it makes it a little bit easier and then I take that transfer tape and I just put it on top of the words and varnished it front and back and then try to line it up as best I could so I took a ruler as some little guide points to make sure it was as straight as possible.

Get it and as long as you don't press down too much, most of the vinyl will come back up and this is something you can do. You can use templates. You can use stickers. You can draw it by hand if you want. you know, if you like your handwriting, I don't, that's why I did it this way and then I had some Christmas

tree

s that I printed from qriket design space and put them in there, so this is a ribbon that I got. from the Dollar Tree too. I really wanted to make sure you saw that truck, so I'm trying to find the right size, looking at the width of the arch that I want and then also trying to make sure I keep that truck. on the frame so I just cut it out and then made sure it was the right size.

I think it also cut the excess. I try to make it off camera, just try to line it up right and then end up cutting a piece off. so it wouldn't overlap and then I took a little piece of hot glue, a little bead, I guess hot glue, just to make them stick easier and I took a little bit of thread and in the center of that bow I use that thread and I fold it over. . I knotted the thread and then hung it back up there, making sure it wasn't too big and didn't cover too much and then I wanted to have another layer of ribbon that was a bit more neutral, so I grabbed this end of the roll that I had.

I think I bought this string at Dollar General, actually that string there I mean the ribbon. I'm going to do the same. I take the string and tie a double knot, but when I put the other belt on top of this loop. It was too bulky and I felt like it was going to stick out too much from the sign and that's when it hit me so I took my scissors and cut the thread and then put them together so it's not that bulky and then I do it again, just a knot double that cuts off the excess most of the time I put tails in my buns, but with the sign you know it wouldn't have looked good, it would have covered too much. of the signs so I didn't do that so I took a bunch of Christmas picks that I had from years before and I just chose this simple one I think it's called boxwood so I just took two pieces and glued them together. end to end and I hot glue them to the sign right in the middle above the words Merry Christmas and hold it down to make sure it sticks in place.
I take apart a lot of my projects now, so I didn't put in too much. I hot glued this on and then found these berries. I also bought them at Dollar Tree and I just put a little bunch on each side so you can see them sticking out from behind the bow and hot glued them on too holding that. down making sure it doesn't go anywhere it's a wire so I wanted to make sure it doesn't go anywhere it's always really hard for me to decide which spikes to use so here are two little bells I had right ?
I'm guessing it came from Dollar Tree because that's where I buy most of my stuff, either Dollar Tree or Walmart, and it had a little piece of wire holding them together and then sticking out, so I put it under the twine to hold it down. on the bun and then she just got to the top so it would hang properly and then she glued it right in the center, so it was quick, it was pretty

easy

. I think it's nice and neutral and it was really fun to do. I haven't been

using

my Cricut much lately so I wanted to get back to it and there it is and in the end I put it up put a hanger on it thanks okay so this is a little snowman that I made last year but when I packed it up I guess I didn't do the best job and the bottom came off so these are just three little boxes that I bought from the Dollar Tree.
I'm sure you recognize that they are the same ones sitting on the right, so they came in like this. I should show you to know where it came from at the Dollar Tree, so it's like a little drawer and I took the inside. Out of the drawer I grabbed three of those and then I just grabbed a giant popsicle stick or these are the giant ones actually and I bought them at Walmart and I'm just trying to cover those little butterflies and I take some hot glue and I stick it on. in because the way I put them in my house in the back is like a wall or something so you won't see them anyway but if you wanted you could take some putty or something and fill those butterflies.
If you want, if that bothers you, I take the same Waverly Ivory Chalk Paint and give them just a thicker coat. I'm not full Coca-Cola because I want it to be a little rustic and I only paint the three. of those just with one coat like I said, I didn't end up sanding them as much as I did the other one, but I think it still looks good the way it turned out, so I did all three and then off camera. I sanded them and now I'm just cleaning them up to make sure all the dust and everything is out of those boxes and then I line them up and use a pencil to try to find where the glue is going to go. because it's quite difficult when you're lining them up um, you know it's not perfect, it's not straight, I don't have to say it, it's like, you know, kind of a displacement of the previous one, so I was just trying to use them. a pencil to help me with where I was going to put the glue because you can't really see it, so I use the rest of that popsicle stick and just draw a little nose, a little carrot nose for the snow lady, um, and Every time I cut popsicle sticks, I always make sure that the side I don't want to cut is on the left of the scissors because when you cut a popsicle stick, the right side of the scissors chips, so it's just a tip useful for you. so I try it now this is my second attempt at drawing the eyes um and I just didn't like the way it turned out first I used it as a Sharpie and then I ended up

using

a paint marker but I left this here so I could show you how

easy

it is if they are wrong.
I literally took that paint, went over it, dried it, painted it again, dried it again and now I have a new canvas to work on, so I take some Waverly pumpkin chalk paint and paint. that little nose that I did on the front and then all the sides and I did two layers I only showed one but I did two and then I drew a face with pencil that I was happy with and then I take that paint marker and I go over the pencil I always use the pencil first. I almost got rid of this one, but I was tired of grimacing.
I'm not good at making faces like this, so I just glue that little nose on and do it backwards. because I want them to be in front of each other, so when I want to introduce them I will face them in front of each other. These are ornaments that I found at Dollar or not Dollar General last year and I actually bought them on clearance, so they were probably like a

dollar

fifty or something for a package and I thought they would be cute. I tried making a wooden hat like I did with the male snowman, but it just didn't work for me.
I didn't like the way it turned out and then I came across these so I took that little ornament, I cut the top off like it was twine and then I glued it to the top of her head and then like I put this exact same ribbon on the male snowman, I wanted to make it match a little better, so I took a little bit more of that and cut it up a little so I could wrap it around his hat just like I did his last year, so I just I cut it and put it behind. the um like the berries and the little pine leaf there and I just hot glued it on.
I just trimmed the excess, she's so cute, so I went through my ribbons and I have this lace ribbon that I bought at Dollar Tree. and then I also have something like that, um, something that looks almost like pearls, but I didn't like the way it looked so I ended up using the lace ribbon and wrapped it around her like a scarf just to make it a little bit bigger. feminine so I wrap it around her to get the right size and cut it and then I wrap it around her the way I want it to be and I just put two little drops of hot glue on each side at first.
I wasn't going to glue it at all but I decided I wanted it to fit so I just glued it and then did the seam on the other side making sure it was straight, it's right at the bottom of the first box. and then I made a little knot like you would with a scarf and then I hot glued it on because I didn't want to stay down all the way, so I just put a little bit of hot glue on and then I ended up cutting the ends of that ribbon at first I made it from the same length, but that's not how you normally make a scarf, so I cut one a little bit shorter than the other side, so they're cool, there's a reindeer, a bell with a bow, a little horse, there's two different ones. types of snowflakes that one and then there, oh, a Christmas

tree

and then this one, the snowflake there or it was already on the paper and I'll link them in the description box.
I bought them last year for Christmas and use them all the time. At first I colored them and I wanted them to match a little more, so I colored them like a barn red, it's Apple Barrel paint and I bought a whole. I love this color. I bought a bunch of them at Walmart last year, but it just took a long time to mix it, I didn't want to mix it well, you could see a lot of black in it, but I took it, once I mixed it properly and painted the snowflakes, I was done changing the color because it didn't really match the color like the berries and the buffalo that the male snowman has, so I took my heat gun or heat gun and try to dry them a little faster and then hot glued them on. in front of the snowman or the snow woman and I don't remember what color paint I use, but this one is really like that and it's either crimson or lacquer, one of them I like more than the other, but I just took that one and covered it.
Barn red I had it, you don't see a big difference on camera, but in person you can see a bigger difference and that's it, that's all I did for those guys, they are very easy to do if you wanted to do the wood. snowman, you could use one of those hat ornaments or you could use these, they're like little pieces of wood that I had, that I painted and sanded and glued, but that's it, those are my projects. I really appreciate you letting me know what they are. Ideas are in the comments and I will have more videos in the future.
I plan to post another video hopefully by the end of next week. They are very beautiful. Thank you so much. I'll see you in the next one.
