Now we're going to go ahead and jump right into the hack and what I'm going to do is treat this as a completely new hack like the one you've done. I have a console that has never been modified, so what you're going to need for this is obviously the actual console. In my case, I am using the Super Nintendo Classic. Next, you will need a micro USB cable, but it is important to note that it has to have data lines inside the cable. If you're using the cable that came with the console, you should be fine, but keep in mind that not all micro USB cables have those data lines.

The following is an optional element. USB drive, you don't need to use a USB drive, you can actually write and hack the device directly to the internal memory. That said, my personal preference has always been to use an external USB drive just because it gives me the flexibility of if I make a mistake, all I have to do is erase that USB and go ahead and start over and then continue with the USB drive is this OTG adapter, obviously on Super Nintendo and Nintendo Classic consoles there are no USB ports, so you need this. So we can plug in that USB now, let's go ahead and move on to the hack itself, we're going to modify our classic consoles with the hackchi hack and essentially this can be used to hack the super nintendo, the nintendo or the sega genesis. mini consoles now this video will focus exclusively on super nintendo and nes and if you are interested in a sega genesis mini hack i will leave links in the description below.

Basically, we will just need to navigate to the github link. located on the hackchi page and of course I'll leave it in the description below and it will immediately take us to the release pages and as you can see the latest version as of today's date which is 31 March 2020, it's hack g2. ce version 3.9.3 and directly on the page you will see all the assets that are available, there is an installer.exe, a portable.zip and then they have source code files. Now the portable version is a standalone app when you download it. that you don't need to install it directly on your machine, it will just open as a standalone application, this is fine, but in my personal preference I always prefer to take the installer, install the software directly on the computer and then use it that way. that's what we're going to do in this video and our installation options go ahead and appear as you can see you have the g2 ce 3.9.3 hack file you also have the option to install the portable version and then you can create a shortcut on the desktop, so I'm going to go ahead and create a desktop shortcut, the start menu shortcuts and the main g hack mod that we're going to hit next and it's going to ask us where we want to save it by default.

The destination is totally fine, however, if you have a specific path you want to install it to, simply hit the Browse button and navigate there. We'll hit Install and it'll go ahead and do its job great, as you can see. It says completed, we can go ahead and press close and that's it. The g2 ce hack mod has now been fully installed on your computer. We no longer need this setup file so we can get rid of it and we can go ahead and click. in g2 ce hack file now once the app opens a small welcome message will appear.
I'm not going to review it because we're actually going to go ahead and make the mod ourselves. to continue and press ok, you will receive an important message. This just reminds you that the USB cable you are using must have data lines. If you are modifying the Sega Genesis Mini, for example, the included USB cables do. you don't have those data lines so you can't use them, you'll need something different and other than that just a bit of additional information. If you need help during the process, you should join the classics discord server which will. We also have links in the description, so we'll go ahead and hit OK.
The next thing we must do is install the custom kernel on our Super Nintendo or Nintendo Classic. To do this, we need to connect the device directly to our computer and enter something called fel mode on the screen, it will give you some prompts, but we will do it together. The first thing we need to do is click on the kernel button and install the repair bar now it will ask us if we want to update the custom kernel, the answer is yes, now it will wait for the device. Next, a pop-up window will appear informing us that it is extracting the driver files and installing the drivers on our PC.
This will only ensure that our console can communicate with our PC effectively once you are done, it will inform you that you must put your console in fel mode in order to do this, you must make sure that the USB cable is disconnected from your mini console, then you will continue and you will turn on the power switch of your device. In my case, I have the Super Nintendo, so I will place it in the on position along with the USB cable. Now connected to your computer, you will go ahead and hold the reset button and then plug the USB cable into the mini system.
You will continue to press that reset button until you see the message on the screen. tells you that the kernel is currently being updated, once that is the case you can go ahead and release the reset button. Now it will just go ahead and wait for this process, it may reboot a few times, that's totally fine, just go ahead and leave it connected to your PC and allow it to install that mod. Excellent, so here we go, once we have finished installing the mod, a message will appear on the screen and now you can load games directly to your mini console.
I want to mention if for some reason you get an error while the console is trying to reboot or times out and says your device is taking too long, go ahead and hit the OK button and then you can try reinstalling the kernel and give it another chance. I've seen other people have had to try two or three times before they were successful, just know that if it times out, it's no big deal, just try the installation process one more time. Now let's go ahead and press OK. next we will see that because you have actually communicated with the console you will see that the light in the bottom left corner of the application is now green and indicates that it is online for ssh, essentially that just means that the console and computer will be able to communicate with each other.
You'll also notice that the list of games will be dedicated to the console you have, as you can see. I have Super Nintendo, the US version and it will show the total number of games we have, click on one, the box art will be there and all the metadata will be shown as well. Now, obviously, you modified this console because you want to add more Super Nintendo games, so that's what I'll show you in this video. Note that you can also add other console games to the device. I'll cover it in another video though, so we'll go ahead and add some additional Super Nintendos. games to our console, we'll press the Add More Games button and it will go ahead and open a path for us to navigate and select the games we want, also if you have access to the games somewhere else in a folder, you can grab them and drag and drop them here too, so it will be much easier if you add multiple games.
In this case, I'll go ahead and select the adventures of Batman and Robin and myself. I'm also going to go ahead and grab Aladdin. I'm going to click and drag them right into the app and go ahead and import those into the games list. Now you will see that it has two new ones. apps that are the adventures of batman and robin and aladdin now have actually done a very good job of removing the artwork automatically so that that way it displays correctly; However, if it does not display the artwork correctly, you can continue and browse or you can search.
Google the artwork for that game to update it, plus all the metadata, all the information will be there now for the purposes of this video. I'm going to go ahead and postpone those two games, though, if you're doing it. Do this yourself, you'll probably want to load all the games at once before sending it to a USB or your console. Now, as I mentioned, in my case I like to send things to a USB drive, which is totally fine. so you want to make sure that your USB drive is connected to your computer, once that's totally fine, we can go ahead and minimize it and we can hit export to USB if you're going to skip the USB and just want to install them. games directly to the internal memory of your console you will need to synchronize the selected games with mini.
Keep in mind that the Super Nintendo's internal storage is quite limited, so you can't load it with the entire library you'll need. To hand pick and from what I remember I think you can get between 100 and 200 different games here but I could be wrong about the total number now before we export our games to USB or to the console itself it's actually a good idea. able to adjust the structure that will be located on the device taking into account that you will not be able to load several hundred games in the main UI, you will need some type of folder structure when you start When entering larger amounts of games, you will press the button structure, then you will select the custom use folder manager button and then to go back in, you press structure and then click on this one more time.
You will be given a folder manager that will allow you to create folders or divide things by the first letter of the console genre, etc. In my case, we're just going to go ahead and split things up by the first letter, so I'm going to press this button right here, it's going to grab those games, put them in the right folder, and then when you click on the folder, you'll see what games are actually there and everything is fine on that front, so we will press ok, now we can export to USB or directly to our console, in my case we are using a USB drive, we will press export to USB and then we need to select our USB drive in the dropdown menu.
My USB is called hack g and then we're going to create a save folder that we want for any kind of save state or saves in the game, we're going to press OK, it's going to take us back to the folder manager, which is totally fine, we press OK once again and Go ahead and transfer those things to my USB or in your case maybe directly to your console once that's done. If you are using a USB, you will see your USB fill up again with a bunch of different folders. perfectly fine, we can go ahead and close that and then we can press ok and that's it, so now what we need to do is connect our super nintendo nintendo classic, whatever you're using, to our television and let's move on Go ahead and try it out, so let's go ahead and switch to Super Nintendo now.
Okay, we've activated our Super Nintendo Classic for the first time since the mod and we'll be welcomed with a language. selection screen just like you would if you turned on the Super Nintendo Classic for the first time without the mod, so in this case we're going to go ahead and select English and press a and as you can see, none of our games are actually showing up. there, everything is inside the folders that we set up in the mod's folder manager, so we are 100% sure that the mod was kept and everything is working, and just to show you that if we jump to c it will show Us, against , that's there, we can go back and of course we can do this with any of our other folders by jumping to the d folder.
We'll have Donkey Kong Country there and then again we'll go back to the main folder. Now, obviously, we'll want to take a look at the new games we installed. They will both be in section A so we will jump to that folder and here you will see the adventures of Batman and Robin as well as aladdin and of course these two games are not games that would have been available on the super nintendo classic just to confirm that are working, let's go ahead and jump into aladdin and try it out, as you can see, aladdin is 100 working and we're going to jump to the main screen here, so now we can continue directly on the console like you would with any of the games available , press the reset button which will take us back to our main menu. has suspended the game and if we want to go ahead and create a save state, we can press the down button and we can choose where we want to save it, we can choose slot one, two, three or four, we press the y button to save it. and now we have also saved a save state for those games.
We can doThis is with all the games we add to the machine. It won't matter and there are no limits in terms of that, but that's it in terms. Modifying the Super Nintendo or Nintendo Classic, as I mentioned, can add additional consoles to your device, but I'll cover that in a later video. Let me know in the comments section below if you have any problems or if there is a specific request for certain types. of modifications that you want to see on any of these devices, but that's pretty much all I have for you. Thank you so much for watching and I'll talk to you again very soon.
