Apr 28, 2024
I just

bought

the

worst

Chevrolet truck on Marketplace. There is no straight panel on this truck. The front fender is dented. It has a big rust hole in the door here. Bent windows. Headers are missing. Hit here and here. One good thing is that it is a four-wheeled vehicle. leads tailgate, good The bumper is useless, although the boxes rotted, this is the only straight panel in the entire truck. I think it has some Bondo in it. The cab is damaged right here, maybe it was hit in the back at some point. The driver's door is rough and full of rust.

I'm going to need cab corners, that's almost normal on these old Chevrolets. The front fender is all beat up, but someone put one of those horrible aftermarket grills on it. It's an 84, you can tell by the way it has this thin strip right here, it's got a nice front bumper. The hood is fine, but it has a little ding here and it's cracked right here. This has to be one of the

worst

interiors I have ever seen. It has a tilt steering wheel and a nice steering wheel, so I think it could be a real one.

More Interesting Facts About,

Silverado there is no way to tell if it is a Silverado because the build sheet is missing which is usually here has this camper cargo truck camper cargo information label. The reason I think it might be a real Silverado is because it has this custom cabin trim here. Deluxe did not have this. Here is a hood release mechanism. It has a boat battery. It has handles. Has the re re remman GM Good Wrench 350. I looked for the garbage truck to be built in Flint Michigan. It's a real K 4x4, the only thing. It started out as a 6.2 diesel, someone must have put this crate engine in it and it was in the range of 300,000 trucks built.

The guy I

bought

it from said it would work, it just needs a fuel pump so we'll see if it works. I ran when I was looking at the fuel pump I noticed that the return line was not connected these are the tanks that are here and that is the return line and it is not connected to the tank the second tank goes right here it is missing I want to put double tanks here, so I'm going to try to save this wiring harness. The feed line has already been bypassed, the fuel in the fitting is rounded, the line from the tank is 3/8 and the return line is /qu inch.

I have this pick accessory. to replace that other one that's disassembled right here, yeah, this old boat battery is dead, so I might have to put it on the charger for a minute to see what we have under this Edel Brock air filter, so it looks like we have a four. Holly barrel, the guy I bought the truck from told me there was a problem with this key switch, the electrical part of the switch is about halfway up the column under the dash, when you turn the key it pushes this rod that activate the switch, the problem is Either it is broken, this rod is broken where it connects to the key switch part or it just fell apart.
We'll pull on the steering wheel and see if we can figure it out to remove this part. There is a small ring. Here you have to go out, you can push this down a little bit and you can go up under that ring, move this little bracket, here you have to remove this little danger indicator button that holds the key bolt. There are three T30s to go. it just comes out so there's the problem where the rod connects, it broke, it broke, you can see it right here. The steering column on that truck is as worn out as the truck so I'm going to replace it with this one which is from an 85 Blazer uh the key switch works fine the flasher switch and everything is tight this little pin here it connects to the column shift linkage.
I'm going to pull this seat out so I can get better access to the 270 Winchester box here, this truck was last insured in 2022. The floorboards on this truck are surprisingly solid, it's hard to believe considering the shape has the rest of the truck, there's just a little bit of corrosion here on the driver's side that could be easily fixed, just replace a little bit of metal right here on the passenger side. The apartment is also in good condition. There is a little corrosion on the bottom of the kick panel, but it is not all the way through.
This is the only bad spot right here on the floor. Easy to fix, guys and girls, please stop hacking. Their square bodies, when I restore the interior I will show you how to fix this so you can put the old original radio back. This is the radio harness they have been hacked into and it is also original up to here so when I do it later. when I put a stock radio back in, I'll just plug into this harness now that everything is clean. I can finish replacing the steering column. This is part of the electronic cruise control.
Maybe I can get it working again someday. This harness is for the flashers and hazard lights this is the high beam switch here this is the driver's door power window harness that someone cut off and there are three connectors under the dash that you can unplug and take the harness out No I know what these cables go to but I'm not going to cut them, I'm just going to roll them up and put them away because they can go to something I'm going to need later, there are only two more plugs left to disconnect from this column, but I'm going to drop it because it will be more easy to get to them.
This is the IGN mission switch. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this may be the reverse light harness. It works well. Now just tie these cruise control cables together. out of the way for now this old one is missing so many parts i bought a parts truck for situations like this this plate is missing this is the parts truck i bought and it looks much better this splash is getting hot now im leaving to check the power to the ATI and make sure it is getting 12 volts when the keys turn on. I'm going to check if the starter motor is working and I'm going to run this fuel line from the fuel pump here and check the condition of the It looks like the fuel has a little bit of water in it.
It pumps fresh gas into it, although after it pumped out that nasty stuff, I'm going to throw this away and try again. There is a lot of water in the fuel tank that I am going to dump. this hub and try it one more time that starter sounds terrible. I'm not quite sure what to do with this fuel tank. Everything on this truck is broken, but this clock, but it still works, you can see the second hand passing by. I'm going to check it with my watch to see if it's keeping correct time. I have decided to simply replace this fuel tank.
One of the reasons is that when I restore the truck, I'm going with fuel injection and I can get the '87 tank that's already set up for fuel injection, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to go ahead and remove the bed because I won't keep it when I restore the truck. It will be a step aside from this platform. It's not even worth saving anyway. The light is missing. It's been about an hour. I can't believe this watch is keeping correct time. This is the passenger side frame rail and measures exactly 33 inches. The driver's side frame rail measures about 34 and 8th, so it looks like the frames are bent a bit.
I can see a little wave on the frame rail right here, yeah when I have time I'll take it to a body. buy and have them straighten the frame, other than the frame is in good shape there is just some minor surface corrosion, some more surface corrosion here, that's not a big deal inside the frame rail, good shape inside the rail of the passenger frame, outside the passenger frame rail. There's still a lot of factory coating left on this frame, so all I'm going to do on this frame is descale it with a wire brush, put some rust converter on it, and then paint it.
I'm working on this framework a bit more. I'm waiting for the new fuel tank. This little bit of angle iron doesn't belong here. This piece of canal doesn't belong here. It looks like someone had installed it. They soldered it here when they installed a receiver. hitch this is where the factory spare tire mounts and this will be in the road so when I go to put the original spare location back on the truck, I need this to not be here. I can't access some of these. The welds with that grinder may have to weld this little hole, that marine channel was welded to a little bit of everything.
This truck has the factory D exhaust. Check out these factory mounts. I want to thank the previous owners for not removing them from here. The shaft vent check valve allows the shaft to vent, but this little cap prevents water from going down the shaft. We will check that the valve connects here. This little bracket is bent and is pulling on that hose. He has her in a bind. It's a little better. This is not correct, this bracket holds the emergency brake cable and prevents it from falling. Someone was careless with all this sealant. This old lady is slowly returning to a factory chalk.
It reads 94. I don't know what that means. Some more numbers. Right here, this emergency brake cable bracket has bent the driver's Flor tray and cab bracket. Here it is in incredibly good condition. This is the only bad spot on the driver's side. This is the entrance corner to the cabin. Here is the rocker. This is the internal rocker arm. There is a little. A little corrosion starts here and here, so I'll do the same thing I'm doing to the frame. I'll descale it, put some rust converter on it and then paint the passenger side floor. It is solid and here is the only rust on the passenger. side floor board right here inner cab Corner rocker inner rocker just a little surface corrosion someone installed a homemade support bracket for this transfer case they have it bolted here to the transfer case and it's also bolted to the frame this is the correct support rod for your transfer case, this end bolts to the boot on the engine, this end bolts to the transfer case, this is how the support rod connects to the transfer case, this is It bolts to the bellhousing and then bolts to the transfer case here and here.
I'm not going to install it right now. I'm not going to stop it because this transfer case has a leak right here. It probably leaks everywhere. I'm going to take it out and resell it. This is the new 208c process, it is a chain. transmission transfer case good for light trail riding not good for hail jacked big tires. I'm going to remove some things here to have better access to clean and paint the spring this is the tank switch harness this is a shield bracket that is supposed to cover this tank switch this tank switch is not good one of the Plastic lines for the return are broken, so you may have to throw it away.
I think this is a ground wire for the fuel tank, you never know if it will work. to be metric or standard, that's a good girl, okay, now I can get to all these difficult parts. I found some deep pits here on the passenger frame rail when I was cleaning this frame. Now I'm just oiled and everything before I put the Rust Converter on once this Rust Converter dries, you might get a little bit of Haze here, some of this white Haze. I'm going around right now and, um, cleaning everything with a little bit of solvent before painting it, okay, so the epoxy primer coat is complete. starting with the top coat this is the paint I use today to paint the frame this is PPG shopline epoxy primer and PPG commercial performance sem I gloss black this is the gun I used it's a 3M ACU spray and it's good for someone Like me, I don't paint much because it's all disposable, once you finish painting you just throw away the tip and this eyeliner and this cap, the only thing you keep is the gun and this cup and the only thing you have to clean is this tip here in the next video I'm going to order this wire and Nightmare and this is the positive wire and it has all kinds of lines coming out of it.
I've been leaving this battery disconnected because I'm worried it's going to burn down my tent. This battery is not safe so I will secure it with the factory Downs. I'm also going to replace these battery cables with side posts. I'll put a side post battery back in. I am also going to install this new fuel tank with non-slip pads, it has starter shims, factory style battery hold down and new battery cables. We'll also see if we can get this old one working. The painting looks good, it has been drying for about 10 hours. The paint is curing well.
The paint is supposed to be fully cured in 30 hours.
