that the dolly left the port at 10:7 Tuesday morning, less than 20 minutes later, the first sign of trouble.

The ship appears to lose power about a minute and a half later with the alarm sounding, the pilot on board called for help and asked nearby tugs to respond, but the ship was already heading toward the worst collision scenario. Less than a minute later, the dolly made that critical life-saving emergency call, giving police time to close the bridge. In the traffic on the Key Bridge, uh, there's a ship approaching, it just lost its way. The first responders who actually moved heroically, uh, after the first Mayday was called, were able to move to prevent additional cars from coming in, uh, getting to the bridge that they had.

Less than 2 minutes to act before the collision, the NTSB says the dolly contained 56 hazardous material cargo containers weighing more than 760 tons.
