I want to cover the entire story so far before Andy Walker comes out. so expect that for me sometime in the next few months, but despite my own reservations, 14 has ended up being one of my favorite Final Fantasy stories and I'm a fan which says a lot, staying relevant in 14 isn't very difficult or even important and the hardest content in the game is challenging enough to make it an experience that relies more on skill than gear checks and I think that's important by not deleting old content, having a massive free trial and many things that non-gamers can do.
I really see why this has been growing like crazy lately and that's not to say it doesn't have problems because they are there and to be fair, the server tick rate is really bad and leads to some premature deaths. Some boss mechanics can be really confusing to understand. the amount of particle effects on the screen is extremely overwhelming and will completely ruin your experience unless you turn it down, as with all online games many players can be elitist, although the 14 community is better than most, the story takes a time to start. The combat feels very basic until level 50 and the interface really needs an overhaul because navigating the menus has its own learning curve, but it's come such a long way that it's crazy to me that Shadowbringers came from Final Fantasy 14, the game that was a joke, but here.
We are potentially just days away from the industry leader changing even before the terrible events at Blizzard came to light. This change was happening and now it's hard to see it as we make this full comeback. I wish that wasn't the case because competition is healthy. and if both games ran at full strength it would be amazing, but Activision Blizzard needs to make a lot of internal changes before we see that happen. MMORPGs are a genre that can only have a few games in the spotlight at a time, but strangely so. Enough is enough, we've had a ton of new games come out recently, there's a new world, the lost arc, ashes of creation, the Fantasy Star reboot in line two, all of these games are apparently going down a different path than grime fast that consumes a lot of time and that used the genre. to know, someone wants to go kill mobs in the dunes for five hours, beat a level or two, anyone, I think Final Fantasy 14 is paving the way for a new type of mmorpg that doesn't need all your time and you.
I don't need to log in every day just to see a tiny little number go up and I'm happy to have been proven wrong on a more serious note. I hope that Activision and the entire gaming industry can recover and become a place where women are treated as equals and coworkers and not just harassed for their existence.
